Everything went smoothly. They removed all the old equipment and installed the new equipment. Technicians were friendly cleaned up after themselves.

As a first-time home owner like us, we are always looking for the right vendors to add on your master list in case of mishap - Service Specialties Inc. (SSI) is one organization that should be on it. We detected leaking in our kitchen and master bathroom sink areas; however we were not sure where the source was coming from. After referencing Angie's List, we called SSI to have them perform a leak detection on the two rooms and spoke to a wonderful office staffer who was very responsive and a delight to work through our concerns. The company representative was thoughtful, detailed-oriented, and gave us an array of home service times to select from. Afterwards, the representative shared the name of the technician and reconfirmed the time with us verbally on the phone. On the day of the service, the technician was equally responsive, very prompt, and gave wonderful service and advice. We never felt like the technician was attempting to sell up or "find issues to charge." Quite the opposite, in fact. The field technician suggested that we call the manufacturer (MOEN) to utilized the life-time warranties to obtain the parts at no cost for majority of the plumbing issues for both rooms. (He even supplied the toll-free number). For the kitchen inspection, he advised us that it was a simple washer replacement and fixed that area quickly at no cost; he just replaced the washer and tighten the piping in that area. Most of the main issue was in the master bathroom sink region. He advised what parts were necessary to obtain and gave great suggestions and solutions. He also mentioned that if we had any issues, SSI could do the work for us too. Afterwards, the technician supplied a paper-copy report that captured the work that was done for the kitchen (and its associate parts); the suggestions discussed; which rooms he inspected and all of the necessary part numbers for the master bathroom. Top-rate service at best. From the main office to the field technicians, we have found SSI to be a highly skilled; courteous; and wonderful advisers in home repairs. SSI staffers are quick in response/turnaround time as well. Note: For the rate above, we used our Angie?s List membership and purchased a discounted service available during this period.

They were really good. They did a good job in fixing the leak. They were professional and provided information for a different issue that we were dealing like pipes. They recommended some companies to do it because it was not their specialty. They made me realized that it was an immediate issue.

We had a leak in our shower which was going down into our kitchen and coming through the ceiling, Yikes! Our 'warranty' had another service man coming in (from a separate company) who wanted to rip out the tiles and pipes behind the shower, AND then charge us an arm and a leg (b/c apparently this would not be covered by the warranty). This sounded a bit extreme to me, so after a little research on Angies list I called this company. Our service man came out, took a quick look, changed the water spigot, and NO MORE problems!! No more leak, the shower is usable again! :) (*for the record, I entered a date in October for the service being done, but I am unsure of the exact date they came)

SSI's plumber was exactly what we needed. Not only did the service guy show up on time with a great atttiude, but he accomplished the work quickly and explained what he did and why to my wife in laymans terms. She was incredibly grateful for his quality work and great attitude. I will likely never call another plumbing service again, as long as SSI is in business.

Everything went really well. SSI staff were professional throughout. They are very proficient in their business area. The furnace was not the easiest installation (there were challenges with the size of the space available) but SSI handled that really well.

My 12 year-old SSI installed heat pump went out at 11:50 PM on Dec 31, 2013. Early morning on New Year's Day I called for service. The technician on duty walked me through the process of ensuring that my electrical power was operating the system and made an appointment for a technician to come out the following day. On the morning of Jan 2 it was determined that the cost for repairs would be approximately $2,000. Just a few months prior a $700 repair had been made. I elected to go with a new system rather than pouring more money into the old system. That same afternoon the SSI representative came out, went over the options, made suggestions and we struck a deal for a new system. He didn't try to up sell, and in fact suggested that I use my current humidifier which was in good operating condition. On Monday, Jan 6, 2014 two technicians showed up with the new system, installed it without wasting time, and by mid-afternoon the new system was operational. Throughout the years SSI has always been responsive with the twice a year maintenance checks, the few times that I have needed emergency service, and with this replacement. From the answering service to the office staff to the technicians, I have always found them to be courteous and very quick to respond.

First winter in my new place, and found that while the heat pump system was definitely doing something, it was barely heating. Plus, it seemed like the heat pump was running for an inordinate period of time, even when I turned the heat off as part of an experiment! I had another service provider in first, who looked at the part of the unit indoors but could not find the cause of the problem (partly my fault since I didn't realize the top part of the unit was not easily accessible, and technician did not feel comfortable potentially damaging my wall). That technician told me that it was most likely an electrical problem, and that I would probably have to replace the entire heat pump. After I removed the offending section of wall, I thankfully decided to get a second opinion from SSI. The technician from SSI did look at the indoor unit, but as soon as I explained the problem, he immediately said he knew exactly what the problem was, and that we needed to look at the part of the heat pump that's outside (something the other company didn't do). He was right, and less than 10 minutes later, he had replaced the broken part on the heat pump. I saw a 4 degree improvement within the day, and everything is still working great. I was also able to use a coupon from the Angie's List monthly mailing. I am so happy that SSI was able to do a relatively minor repair; I was afraid I'd have to sell my car to buy a new heat pump. It was a big deal purchase and the service was excellent. I think I paid more than the $39 because I had some other things done. They were thorough and the master plumber definitely seemed to know what he was doing. Overall, it was a good experience.

They are knowledgeable, prompt and very professional. Their quality of service was outstanding. They are outstanding organization to deal with. I recommend them for anything, from annual system maintenance or inspection to full system replacement.

The technician was very professional and on time. I had a new furnace installed the year before, so the furnace did not require anything beyond the usual testing. However, I did ask the technician about the air coming from one of the bedroom vents, because it felt cooler than what the temperature read on the thermostat. He confirmed that the reading was correct, but made an adjustment in the furnace (I cannot recall what he did).

They remind me that they are coming. They are very informative and polite. They have done very good service for me over the years.

They were good with scheduling. They were good in general and I would recommend them.

They were able to diagnose the problem, but their estimate to fix the issue was too high. They were responsive and punctual.

It went very well. The technician was very professional.

The repairman from SSI Services came and turned on the dishwasher. He identified the problem as a bad pump and recommended to replace the dishwasher than just to replace the pump, which according to him would be almost as expensive as a new dishwasher. He mopped up the water on the floor, leaked from the dishwasher pump and charged $165 from my renter. No service was performed other than to diagnose the problem, for which the voucher already covered according to the terms. When I called SSI, I was told that the manager would get back to me. The manager offered to refund $87.50 (half of $165, they had charged). I refused to accept half the amount, when no service was performed for the other half. In my opinion, the company charged me for a service call, which was already covered by the Angie's List voucher.

Contractor came right away. Immediately found the problem (crack in garbage disposal) and had parts in his truck to replace the unit. He was in and out in less then an hour.

Have service agreement, and they come twice a year to ensure proper function of HVAC system. So far, so good.

My experience went well. I had them give me an estimate for other plumbing work and we wanted professional advice. Scheduling was good and they were on time for their appointment.

It did not happen. I took off of work to be available at the time window they had booked. I never received a phone call and no one showed up.

Purchased and Angie's List deal. They showed up on time, quickly assessed the issue and determined that additional investigation was necessary. They suggested a specific type of test and indicated that they would call back with availability of the technician needed to run the test. After not hearing back for over a week, I called and was placed on hold and then disconnected. Repeated attempts to get someone on the line failed. I gave in utter frustration.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They gave me a percentage discount.

I bought a coupon off of Angie's list to have a leaking spigot fixed on my rental home in Alexandria. Scheduling the service was not too difficult and the plumber arrived on time. The problems began at this point. The plumber got to the house evaluated the situation and called me to immediately attempt to up sale me on spending an additional $150 dollars to replace the entire spigot rather than just the valve. I refused the upsale and then he told me he would have to return the next day to replace the valve. I never heard from them again and dumbly assumed the work was completed. Last week, i went to the house to find not only had the work not been completed but that the faucet was leaking still and an ice mountain was slowly growing towards the spigot.Their failure to follow through put my home at risk of significant damage. I will not use SSI again but it would be great if they could complete the work they were supposed to do.

It has been a while, but the service was fine. It was a fixed price and the same as the estimate. I liked that it was a large company with a good customer service department. There was nothing I disliked about the contractor.

After significant research and price comparison, I selected Service Specialties to install and maintain a new HVAC system several years ago. They've always been good to deal with so when I saw they were offering a $39 plumbing service call coupon on Angie's List, I thought "decision made." The service technician showed up on time and did good work. However, when I got the bill for a few small pieces of copper pipe (not itemized on the bill by-the-way) and approximately 90 minutes of work, I was shocked--$480. When I asked what the coupon was for his answer was vague and clearly he had not been equipped to deal with this part of the transaction. When I asked about material charges he said there was "a book" he consulted and it gave him a standard charge. This was not listed. When I further questioned him he just took $80 off the bill to appease me. I still felt ripped off. When I went back to look at the coupon it gave no details on what it covered. I can't say they don't do good work but find out how there "deals" and "coupons" really work before using them and expect to pay a lot.
