SSI was a joy to work with. They came out promptly, provided an estimate, and worked with me to ensure I understood exactly what I was getting and answered all of my questions. The work itself was done promptly and professionally. Everyone I talked to or worked with there was helpful and courteous. The job was done very well. I will definitely be using them for HVAC maintenance and repair in the future.

I had used SSI for HVAC work in the past so I called them for this as well. They were able to send a plumber out the same day I called. He gave us a very good estimate and then did the work right away. He also gave us his number to call if we saw continued water dripping that night.

My initial contact with SSI was absolutely fantastic. Over the phone they were quick, polite, and got me scheduled quickly with a tech in a reasonable time frame. The tech was on time and diagnosed the problem quickly. The only issue we had was with a part that needed replacement and wasn't immediately available. We apparently had a miscommunication on when to expect our technician to return. Communication goes both ways, so it is possible that I simply misunderstood him. But this lead to our only frustration with the experience. When I called and brought it to the company's attention they were accommodating, responsive and very apologetic. They quickly got me the information I needed as well as let me know when to expect a return visit. Despite the communication mishap, I think the quality of the work was great. Our technician was very polite and friendly when on-site and the quality of the office staff was superb. Every business can look good when things are going perfectly - but I believe it is always a true test when there is an issue somewhere along the way. I really appreciated the way they handled my business, and if I have another need in the future I would do business with SSI again.

Indicated that it would be dangerous to torch it to thaw, so recommended increasing heat in crawl space, and blow drying pipe.

My garbage disposal was leaking and the Plumber replaced the disposal. Charged me $490+$62=$552 total. Several other plumbers on angieslist in the area are charging $280-$300 for a new install. I should have researched better

There was water leak on the floor at my townhouse. I looked up Angie's list for Manassas area plumbing services, and saw the special promotion of SSI with $62 credit, so I signed up. A plumber was dispatched to take a look. He did not have the necessary tool to do there job, and said he would be back again. That used up the $62 credit. He came over the second time with the tool and found out the water came from the main water line under the concrete floor. So he gave me a estimate to fix it. He charged me $69 for the dispatch, and $375 for the diagnosis. I ended with the same problem and about $500 poorer.

We called SSI for an emergency flooding issue and we received great service, Rob N arrived and was very helpful with getting the dishwasher out in order to turn off the water. The dishwasher had been installed incorrectly and we could not get it out to get behind it to shut off the water. We couldn't turn it off from at the street. He had experience with dishwashers so he was able to get it out for us and get the water turned off. This was $125 and I thought that was very reasonable. For the second call we wanted Rob N back but we couldn't get him so Rob R was our technician. Nice guy, but it seemed the prices were pretty unreasonable, but we knew to get another person out would cost us more adding in the service call. It seemed like we were getting a sales call. First was the shower faucet, and he gave us a range to repair it, low end $200-high end $400. He took it apart and it had a warn out seal or something like that, so he had to order that part. Then I mentioned our toilet and how it wouldn't fill up back up after flushing and I knew it wasn't the flapper not closing. It had been replaced about two years ago anyway by another professional. We were offered a new toilet for $499? Then we were offered the deal of a whole house filter for $800 because he said that was probably the problem or a deal for them all for around $1700. We had the toilet fixed then because he had the parts on the truck and he had to order the part for the faucet. So he replaced the flush portion of the toilet, leaving the float bar and flapper, took about five minutes, that cost $160. We told him we didn't want the "package". So, Rob R came back the next week to fix the shower. After he had left the first time we had hot water issues, no hot water from the faucets hooked into the wall he was working on. He couldn't figure it out so he said we needed a new faucet in the kitchen, even though the water pressure in the bathroom which shared that wall was the same. Because of the water damage from the flood we decided we weren't going to buy a new faucet right before our cabinets were going to be torn out. Two days ago we were moving around the water lines and all of a sudden the hot water pressure was back, could it have been a kinked line that the plumber didn't see, but should have? Now...we have to call them back because our toilet is running over, water has spilled out into the bathroom floor now twice in the last three days. Very tired of water in the floor. It hasn't been 30 days so they should come back. I am very disappointed since the first call was so good and they had such good reviews on Angies List. Update #1: Returned to fix overflowing toilet and fixed it in about five minutes, the valve was turned which caused it to catch on the handle. That should have been checked before he left the second time. Update #2: Had another plumber come in to reinstall sink and disposal. He found the shut-off valve to the house downstairs, although the other plumbers could not. Makes no sense to me how a plumber couldn't find the house shut-off valve. When I was closing valves I apparently was closing and opening the wrong ones at the wrong time. The plumbing is complicated in my house because it wasn't installed correctly in the first place, but then again, I'm not a plumber.

The service representative had to work from both ends of the water line to open up the stopped area. It took nearly 2 hours, which considering the amount of work involved was fast and efficient. The price was far less than I anticipated for such a huge job. The appointment was set up efficiently, the responsiveness was first-rate, the cost entirely reasonable, and SSI has just moved to the top of my list to go to for emergency service!

Mr. Boyd arrived well within the anticipated window. The SSI office called me in advance to let me know he was on his way. Mr. Boyd was pleasant and personable the whole time. He didn't even seem to mind me looking over his shoulder or asking questions. He examined the entire system, explained what he was doing, and what he was looking for. There was no pressure to buy additional services or products (even though I needed a new air filter). I really appreciate and respect that. I highly recommend this company.

We had a leaking pipe under the kitchen sink. The plumber came and quickly diagnosed the problem. He then helped me with a question about my water pressure and discussed the condition of other faucets in the house. Great job.

After Bill came out to inspect our system he walked me through various options for replacement. I knew the 18 year old system had to be replaced and was ready for his suggestions. He was up front and told me immediately which system he thought would fit our needs best. I was surprised to find that he was not trying to up or down-sell me but hit the nail on the head with his first attempt. After researching the matter quite intensively and speaking to various contractors he was the first one that did not try to feel me out first but immediately got to the bottom of it all. Scheduling was painless and SSI was very accommodating in squeezing me into their schedule for the upcoming week. The Techs (Chris and Jose) arrived as scheduled and installed the system within hours. The old system was removed and discarded, the techs went over the service arrangement with me and I am a happy camper sitting in a comfy home again. Thanks SSI team - your work is appreciated!

The plumber came when he said he would. Within a half hour he had fixed the toilet and checked it to make sure there was no leaking from the valve and then collected the fee and left.

Our pilot went out on our water hheater, and the ignigtor would not spark. So, we had no hot water for baths, etc... We found SSI on Angie's list and bought their $62 coupon for Service, they came out the same day! Besides getting the water heater up and running, the technician checked on the connected expansion tank and found it to be full and needing replacement. He also checked the water pressure and serviced our water softening unit. The tech's wealth of knoweldge was comforting and the quickness of response was refreshing! Much appreciated!

The technician arrived and used booties on his feet, this is huge as I have brand new hardwood throughout. He took his time and ensured the job was done correctly and completely. I had the angies list deal for $62 dollars I thinks and you received an additional $62.00 of service work. I ended up paying much more and I think the tech may have been confused by the deal or maybe the work was way more than I expected. Any way I bought the deal (62.00) and paid an additional 140.00. Oh well it is fixed though.

They were okay. They had to come back and do something I found, but that was fine. They came back and fixed it. I wish it had been a thorough job all at one time. I don't think I will be using them again. They came out right after that because it was a deal of some sort. I think I had to pay a little bit more for parts or something. They came right out and fixed it and were on time. I don't like having to call them back to fix something they did not fix.

Will not do business again. After purchasing the HVAC tune-up through Angieslist I was contacted by SSI and scheduled the service for Tuesday between 8am-12pm. They arrived at 1:15pm over an hour late from their four hour window. My HVAC was working fine but appeared not to be conditioning the air properly. I actually needed the HVAC system in my main house replaced and wanted to checkout SSI before entering into a large contract. The tech really did't do anything. Said "Change your filters" and left and provided no receipt or recommendations. I had recently contacted Bill to install a whole house dehumidifier and main house HVAC replacement. NO WAY will I do business again with SSI. The $67 HVAC tune-up is worthless. I should add my family and I used to have SSI do all of our new installs and service many years ago. (Two a Year) I could not remember why I stopped using them for service. This is the Brian Hedrick years. Now I remember.

The technician came to fix a toilet leak only a day after the call. The plumber was very thorough with the repair and repaired the problem. Very happy with the service!

We were having a issue with our central AC and I looked up SSI Services Specialties Inc They had a $59.95 special so I signed up for it. I called them and verified that I had the deal price and informed them of what I needed done. About an hour later I got a call and was told they could not honor the price because there was an issue with my AC???!!! Huh? So the cost would be $119.00. I was told, "The Angie's List deal was only good on systems without any service problems." So, I asked the SSi rep, "Why would I call for AC service if nothing was wrong with my AC?" Her reply was."Well, if there is a problem we charge the higher price for diagnostic service." I then asked, " Are you saying that if a service technician comes out to the house and finds nothing wrong you charge me $59.95; but if I need say some freon, the call out goes up to $119.00, plus freon and labor?" Her reply,"Yes." And that was the end of that. I called Angie's List. Your AL rep went way beyond the call. He got me a refund; found another AC service with a $49.95 service call AND got me an addition $5.00 off. The technician came out. Found a minor problem. Did his magic and Shazam - cool air. And all for the $44.95. So the moral of the story - Call Pope's Air Conditioning & Heating...ask for JR And forget SSi Services Specialties Inc.

Technician diagnosed that the bottom of my disposal was rusted out and needed to be repaired. This portion of the service was fine. I asked for an estimate to replace the disposal. The estimate provided was close to $700. I told him I would think about it but was very surprised at the high cost as I thought that disposals were typically under $100 without installation. My disposal was 1/3 HP. I got online at Home Depot and Lowe's and could find NO disposals over $300 (professional grade disposal). I cannot imagine how this cost was estimated but it was significantly higher than ANYTHING I have ever paid or that I paid ultimately to have mine replaced.

Service wise the technician was great, customer service however was lacking. its an 800 # so you get routed to different people constantly there is no real "customer service" just buttons you press then get a person who transfers you to another and so on. my chief complaint was when i called to address an issue my client was having with the technician i get this abrasive person named Susan who's getting short with me over the phone, and with my client. instead of trying to calm our client down she said "he's a SENIOR technician, he knows what he's doing." not exactly a person or company i would recommend in the future.

The workers were good and were prompt- within the time range. They are very good and I would recommend them. We have used them before for hot water heaters -they replaced those.

First of all, let me say that I am not one to typically leave reviews. I really have to be moved to do this and I certainly am. We noticed a decrease in water pressure in the house on a Thursday morning. (it was fine on Wednesday). After getting home from work that evening and doing some more testing, I realized there was a problem. In addition to the pressure dropping when you had two faucets open, the water heater was unusually loud when water was flowing through it. I assumed the water heater had gone bad and on Friday morning, I found the Angie's List deal for a full system check for $39. I immediately purchased it and rather than wait for SSI to call me on Tuesday (it was Memorial Day weekend), I called them. The woman I spoke to was a pleasure to talk to and to my surprise, they were able to send someone over within a couple hours. This was fantastic. Robert came to the house and looked over the system with me and reported that the pressure relief valve was the main issue and he was able to adjust it, which corrected the situation completely. He also pointed out several other issues he noticed with the way the plumbing was routed and connected. We had the plumbing completely redone in 2009 when we purchased the house and I hadn't been happy with the original plumber's work, so when Robert said this, I wasn't surprised. BUT, at no point did he make it seem like the issues NEEDED to be addressed immediately. He just said that at some point, it would be better to address them. As for the water heater, it was 10 years old and hadn't gone bad. I asked Robert what it would cost to replace the water heater and he gave me a price. I asked about correcting the other issues and he gave me a price, keeping in mind, he still was not pushing me to do anything. He then gave me a price to do both at once and it was a better price than doing the projects separate, so I thought it was wise to just go ahead and do it. I decided this mainly because I felt I could trust Robert as he was not saying anything to push me to do the work. I respected him for this. He asked when I wanted to do it and I said "as soon as you guys can do it," thinking it would be the following week. Nope, he was able to do it right away. I was thrilled and within four hours, the entire job was done and we couldn't be happier with the results. We have better water pressure than before the valve went bad and a brand new higher quality water heater. I really want to make it known how good SSI is, especially Robert. It is so hard to find reliable, straight shooting contractors. My father is an electrical contractor back in NY and I worked for him growing up, so I know how to tell when you are getting a straight answer to a problem. As I previously mentioned, I trusted what Robert had to say and felt like he was not trying to get money out of me. Even though it was an unexpected $2200, I knew the 10 year old water heater was due for replacement soon and felt very good about spending the money to have SSI take care of the situation. Highly recommend SSI.
