Did not do work.
Description of Work: Disappointed in the lack of follow-up with an estimate. Ryan came to our home and we discussed the work we wanted to have done. He told us that he could do the work and would send us an estimate via email. After waiting over two weeks and not hearing back from him, we sought out another contractor to do the work. After reading 4 other reviews here, it appears he has a bit of a history of not getting back with promised estimates and avoids communicating with customers. We were upset that he came to our house, told us he could do the requested work, and did not contact us back via email nor telephone. I do not understand how Ryan has an "A" rating on Angie's List with several "F" ratings! My opinion, he should have NO "F" ratings if he's credible!

He called the night before to confirm he was coming. Showed up at the time he said he would. It took two days to install, he had a helper with him part of the time, but he did the cutting and installation. The assistance screwed the molding to the wall plate and caulked. The molding is for hanging pictures so It needs to be strong, I painted all the moulding before installation and then painted over the caulk when the job was completed. This is the second time I have used him and he does a good job. Communicates well which is important to me.

We were thrilled with Ryan! I feel ashamed that I neglected to submit this review sooner considering what a positive experience it was dealing with him. He was genuinely a pleasure to have in our home. Besides being quite capable and flexible, with good judgment, Ryan was open and willing to offer suggestions on how I might learn to do simple repairs and maintenance myself, which I fully intended to do, except with someone as awesome as Ryan around, why would I want to?! He is extremely diligent and has impeccable work habits, leaving no trace of himself behind when done. He does charge by the hour though, and sometimes it can feel as if the minutes are ticking by and the dollars are piling up but he's worth every cent. We have not had a single issue with anything he worked on and I'm 100% confidant that his work is solid. We will absolutely be calling Ryan again when household things get the best of us. It's such a relief to know there's someone out there we can call for problems large and small.
Description of Work: I contacted Ryan because we were looking for someone skilled in many different trades, but willing to take on small projects as they cropped up. In the end, we compiled quite a long and varied list of tasks for him including: installation of security bars in two bathrooms; replacing showerheads and installing one wall-mounted hand-held shower, installing a cat perch in a window, replacing a ceiling fan, replacing a toilet seat, changing a medicine cabinet and lighting fixture in a bathroom, updating lighting throughout hallways, installing an exhaust fan, repairing a directors chair, hanging pictures, and diagnosing and repairing a faulty kitchen garbage disposal. He even made a valiant effort to stabilize a wobbly kitty condo – a first for him!

We had a wonderful experience with Ryan to the Rescue. From start to finish everything went off with out a hitch. We had a problem to make sure tile in the master bathroom floor to make sure it was level but Ryan was completely confident in making sure that we would not have any issue. The painting went wonderful and done professionally. They also were able to make changes that on the fly when I wanted to make changes. The bathrooms were not done at the same time because so we would not have no bathrooms. Ryan's idea. So we had very little inconvenience only having to sleep on the couch because of paint fumes. They will be hired by us in the future. I love having a handy man that I can trust to do the work asked and have in my home.
Description of Work: We had ceramic tile laid in our master and hall bathroom. Painting and drywall repair was completed in our master bedroom. We also had drywall repaired in the master bath

Overall very satisfactory experience after shaky start. Ryan showed up 30-40 minutes late, which didn't really matter but caused us some anxiety. A call to notify us of delay would have helped. However, when he did arrive, he got to work quickly and finished a number of small projects in very little time. His work was fine and his fee was very reasonable. We will have Ryan "rescue" us when necessary in the future.
Description of Work: To prepare our house for sale, Ryan replaced a number of light fixtures and made some minor electrical repairs; caulked bath tubs and sinks; touched up interior paint.

The builder made an error in our new kitchen and installed soft close drawers and cabinets in half our cabinets. I purchased the soft close hinges and drawer slides so that we could convert the remaining cabinets and drawers to soft close. Ryan did a great job in replacing the hinges and drawer slides. When Ryan went to replace the first set of drawer slides he showed me that the new soft close drawer slide would not attach to the existing bracket in the rear of the cabinet. I called the distributor of the hardware and they confirmed that Yes, I did need a different bracket and they would send them to me priority mail. Plus that since I had upgraded three of the drawers to heavy duty slides they required a side mount to the cabinet and not a rear bracket. At that point I handed the phone to Ryan. Ryan talked to the distributor and told me that he could do the side mounts per their description. After Ryan did the heavy duty slide replacements, he said he could install the regular slides in the same manner. Would take some additional work but it was actually a superior installation and he would be able to complete all the work that day. Of course, I said - Please, go ahead. I called the distributor and cancelled the order on the new rear brackets and told them why. No problem - and they confirmed that Ryan was 100% correct that the side mount is the superior installation although it does take additional work. Ryan also replaced the faucet in our powder room sink. It is much more difficult to do this work on a pedestal sink than on a sink mounted in a cabinet. Just way less room to work. Ryan replaced the faucet with no problem. Overall all, Ryan was very professional and did a great job for us.

Initially Ryan completed several tasks such as replacing kitchen sink cabinet base, replacing garbage disposal, replacing front porch light, removing landscape timbers, and trimming tree branches. Subsequently he assisted with planning two bathroom remodels. Hall bath Interior was completely updated to include new vanity and top, mirror, lighting, toilet, ventilation fan, flooring, towel racks, linen closet shelving and door. Master bath was updated identically except that the vanity required some creativity due to its placement and size. The solution was modifying the existing built-in vanity into a more updated version, complete with complimentary trim. New ceiling fan in MBR area was also installed. The results were very professional, well thought out, and LOVELY! No hesitation in recommending his services. He really made the whole process as easy as possible. VERY, VERY PLEASED with all his work.
Description of Work: Ryan was excellant in completing several handyman-type projects, followed by two bathroom remodels.

I can't remember how I found Ryan, through a friend of a friend, I think. In a nutshell, the job was professionally performed and fabulously completed. Please read above for more details!
Description of Work: I needed a handyman to hang ; curtains on a long wall; a venetian blind and a Roman shade. Also, to hang two long wall shelves. To anchor two bookshelves and a cabinetTo install brackets to already existing shelves In my quest to find a qualified handyman, I grew cynical and started thinking that handyman is synonymous with 'highway robber" due to my bad experiences in the past despite how highly recommended they came or how expensive. My search ended when I found Ryan of Ryan to the Rescue. What a wonderful young man! I regained my faith in 'handymen' after I used his services. He was punctual, courteous, pleasant, prepared, knowledgeable, experienced and used state of the art equipment to perform the services, in such a timely fashion, I could not believe he was done with the long list I gave him in such a short and efficient time, having done such a professional job, I was so nicely surprised.. The icing on the cake, his unbeatable price, he was reasonable and fair.As if all that was not heartening enough, Ryan left my house in impeccable shape: he vacuumed the whole area where he worked. You could not find a speck of dust left behind. Would I hire him again?..... YOU BETCHA!I definitely would encourage anyone in need of a handyman to stop looking and hire Ryan. This young man is a dream!

Description of Work: Called Ryan to the Rescue after another vendor, also found on angies list, pulled a bait and switch on us. Ryan came out and replaced our old ceiling fan in 90 minutes. Very friendly and quick. He cleaned up after the work was completed. The other vendor on Angies list charged us $99 upfront only to ready the instructions for 2 hours and wanted another $400 to finish the job.

See above. He is definitely a handyman to the rescue. He can do just about anything and he will research different techniques, types of wood work etc, and give you options. He has also performed many projects at both of my son's homes in South Riding, Virginia
Description of Work: Ryan to the rescue can do any job. He has replaced toilets, put in bathroom fixtures, put in bathroom fans, replaced doors, repaired drywall (ceiling) repaired an existing damaged storm door, replaced light fixtures, put in crown molding, but the most impressive job I think was when he put additional wood/molding around my existing cabinetry and stained it. Professional and friendly. He puts in the extra hours it takes to finish a job and he wants to make sure you are happy with his work. He takes pride in his work, is meticulous and fair in price. My only fear is that he may get too busy to come and work on more projects in my home but he deserves the business!! I trust him, have left him in my home with my dogs and he has let them out while I was at work.

Ryan is a joy to work with. Super nice guy, very responsive, takes pride in his work. If you ask him to do something that is beyond his expertise, he will refer you elsewhere rather than do a substandard job. He has taken on several projects for us and is now our go-to guy whenever anything comes up. Every job has been completed on time and in line with his estimate. We have given him access to our home when we weren't there with no concerns whatsoever. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Ryan has done several jobs for us - from minor handyman repairs (such as replacing screen door or installing custom closets) to remodeling a laundry room into a mud room. I don't recall the final price of the individual projects but his hourly fee is very reasonable and he does not stretch out the job.
