The provider contacted me to let me know that they don’t service my area due to not having a license here. I have chosen to seek a refund from Angie’s List.

I recommend Moss because of their professionalism, punctuality, responsiveness and fairness in doing business. Their workmanship was top notch, they completely cleaned up after their work, and they were always on time. Their customer service is superior, and always easy to reach, though I honestly didn't need to reach them often because the work went so smoothly. My plumbing needs were immediately taken care of. I called late one afternoon, and a plumber was on my doorstep by 8:30 the next morning. The price was very fair and the work was exceptional. Because of the time of year, they were hitting a backlog in available contractors to send to do the work, so I initially had to wait 6 weeks to meet with my project manager. There were a few formalities at start up I wasn't accustomed to at first, but in the end the procedures work to benefit the customer. For example, for the contracting work I first met with an estimator who discussed options for the work, prepared the work order and delivered the contract to me. Moss offers a financing option, which worked great for our needs, so I set up an account. Again, because this was the first time I'd hired this level of contract work this was new to me but all very beneficial once work began. My project manager was Brandon Sarina, and I cannot send up enough praise for him. Once we met, went over the work order, and his crew was dispatched, he was attentive, responsive and assured me throughout the process that I had a dedicated crew as long as I needed ? and he delivered. Brandon and all the crew were kind, professional and hard workers. Michael Pico in particular. I immediately knew I could trust them to do quality work on time, even without me being there and checking in. They found ways to save me money without ever compromising the workmanship. And change orders were hassle-free and stress-free. I deeply appreciate their dedication to my project. Michelle Moore, Customer Manager, went above and beyond for me in processing my account and providing and streamlining documentation I needed when the sale of my house went to settlement. She stayed late to prepare paperwork for me, and kept me in the loop every step of the way. I could not have chosen a better company to partner with than Moss and all the fine employees who worked diligently on my behalf. When my house went on the market, it received enthusiastic response from agents and their clients, calling it immaculate and gorgeous. It went under contract in less than a week. Of course Moss doesn't get all the credit for that, but they played a major role. For honest, skilled, pleasant, courteous, respectful contractors who actually work on your behalf in every way, trust Moss. You'll be glad you did.

They have different crews to handle different jobs so they don't try to force one guy to do everything who may not be qualified to do everything. I think that's great because the jobs are performed efficiently and with a high level of quality. These guys know what they're doing and they're very courteous. And if something falls outside they typical "handyman" realm, they have their own in-house electricians and experts if things get too complicated.

Arrived on time and spent full day working actively, aside from lunch break; very professional and did an excellent job on all the projects. Cleaned up plaster repair work very nicely inside.

Everything went great. No unpleasant surprises. I highly recommend this company

I called Moss to see if the projects I wanted done would qualify for the handyman deal and left a message for the services manager. After two weeks waiting, I never received a call back. Poor customer service.

Before purchasing the Big Deal ($499 for 8 hours of handyman service) I had contacted Moss to see if the work I needed completed would be able to be accomplished in the 8 hour timeframe - I had specified the total number of linear feet. Moss had stated it would be complete in the 8 hour timeframe, maybe 10 hours. Other companies had quoted me at least 12 hours of work so I was expecting to purchase a little extra time. It actually took 16 hours to install the crown molding, but it was never calked or painted. I also had Moss order the materials for me since I wasn't sure what to get and asked to keep it under $200 if possible. The materials were closer to $300. All that said, Moss did discount the materials be $60 and gave me one man hour of labor at no cost (they also installed a shutter) so didn't charge for that time. We had agreed to finish the work at a later time (calking and painting) and they never followed back up to schedule. Honestly I wasn't pressed to have it completed since I was already way over budget.

I bought the deal because: - It appeared to cover the things I wanted done, though I had a question. - At $62.37 per hour in this zip code, the fully loaded cost of a licensed electrician seemed reasonable. Maria, the enthusiastic and positive voice of Moss, called me and I asked my question. There seemed to be some ambiguity among the descriptions of the deal on Angie?s List, of Handyman & Home Services on their site, and of home services in the video on their site. I needed to know that my tasks would be accomplished. If you call with such a question, keep in mind that Maria is probably not an (electrician, plumber, carpenter) and so must hew to the letter of the deal description as published. Wisely, the company gives Greg, the electrician, who appeared to the minute when Maria said he would, the leeway to decide for himself what the scope of the work is. That must be what they mean by their claim in their video that they ?empower (employees) to do the right thing.? Greg is the kind of worker who makes a ?Big Deal? of uncertain value a great deal. He listened carefully to what I thought the job entailed, then recommended a course of action whereby we got to what the job actually involved, and one that maximized the value of his labor and expertise to us. We discussed materials: he used what I had on hand and was able to provide the rest from the truck, at cost. He recommended and I gladly accepted fixes that I would ultimately have to make anyway because the items no longer met the code. He got plenty of exercise. Mapping all outlets, lights, and appliances to circuits in a three-level house is not a task for the literally weak-kneed. He explained everything and answered all my questions at least twice ? I needed that. He worked quickly and efficiently, without a break, for eight hours, to the minute. If we ever have another electrical problem we?ll be delighted to see him again.

He completed everything on our list and more, was very professional, clean and extremely careful. We did not think he would get through the entire list but were extremely pleased that they did. Very pleased with the service and professionalism. Would definitely use again and recommend.

Please read my previous email dated 2/7/14 with the explanation of why I am requesting a cancellation. Today being Feb 7 and still no contact or confirmation has shattered my confidence in this company. The company emailed me and asked for my phone number, which I sent back to them immediately, but still I have not heard from them. I even called the company and left my phone number, but no return call. In light of the company's like of response to this point, I would like to cancel this order and have the funds returned to my account. Thank you.

We are very happy with Moss. They were very responsive and helpful. The whole process from design and permitting to building and finsihing took about 6 months. In June, Moss told us they would be done by December, and it was the second week of December when they actually completed the construction. Their on-line database was good in helping us keep up to date with the schedule, options and budget. We worked the closest with Matt (manager of the whole project) and Jodi (for choosing flooring, etc.) - they both responded promptly to our questions. While we had a couple of leaks when we were without a roof and a huge rain storm came through, Matt (who came after hours to help) and the carpenters who worked hard to get us as close to under roof before the storm. We felt like we were in very good hands. As with any big project there were a few complications but they were all resolved in a good and timely fashion. If we ever decide to do any more work on our house we will plan to get in touch with them.

Moss went out of their way to schedule the work within my requested time frame which I really appreciated. The contractor did a great job with all the tasks. One of the tasks couldn't be done because I didn't have the right lighting trim but he told me what I needed to get in order to change the lighting in the dining room. He was very professional and cleaned up everything including getting rid of all the boxes and used painting supplies.

Electrician showed up on time, gave a thorough and accurate estimate of the work, and completed all on time and schedule. Tne drywall repairs were neat and finished and paint-ready. We even threw in a couple of monkey wrenches in the way of last minute changes and additions and they all were cheerfully and completely done, on time and under budget.

I received several quotes for the job, and while Moss was not the cheapest, they seemed to be the most experienced doing this type of work. I received an initial quote from the sales department and final measurements were taken by the project manager John Jenkins. Prior to the start of the project I requested to meet with John. John was very professional and knowledgeable about the scope of the project and what needed to be done. Work commenced on schedule and was completed that day. After the project was done, I noticed a couple areas that needed touch up. John was extremely responsive to my concerns, and had his team out to make the repairs as soon as the recent cold spell snapped. I have dealt with several northern virginia contractors through the years, some experiences good and some bad. I would rate my experience with Moss as excellent, and will definitely utilize their services again in the future. The peace of mind gained by having a knowledgeable and customer service oriented company far outweighed the few dollars I could have saved by going with the lowest estimate. From start to finish the entire experience went very well. The office was quick to call me to set up an appointment for the work. Brian, the guy who came to my house was on time and professional and most of all ready to work h****** finishing as much of my punch list as he could in the 8 hours. After we walked through the list and the house to review all the items he dove right in after getting whatever tools he would need from his van. His work was good and he cleaned up well after the work was performed. The next honey-do list put together at my house will go to these guys for sure. . . Thanks for a job well done!

We had two successful small projects with Moss - one was particularly impressive and innovative electrical project. Unfortunately, a planned follow-up electrical project to have a similar design has been a disappointment. Moss has been unresponsive. So I give a C to average the A for the great work done and an F for its unresponsiveness since.

We are extremely pleased with our newly updated powder room. The cost listed includes the materials. Our contractor Jonathan was excellent. He was focused on quality and excellence. He took his time to be sure the work was done correctly and asked our opinion as he worked to be sure our expectations were met. He laid out the tiles to be sure the pattern was perfectly centered and selected the best tiles to be featured in the powder room. It was apparent that he took pride in his work . He worked neatly and cleaned up at the end of the work day. He would tell us the time he would arrive the next day and was always on time. The project took 4 days total. We did have a difficulty with scheduling. The work was to have been completed in December. I emailed our project manager in early November to be sure all was set to go and I was assured we were all set. On the day before work was to begin we called and were told that the vanity had not been ordered and that it would be 4 weeks before they could begin work. I am not sure whether it was Ferguson the supply company of Moss or both that were responsible for the glitch but it was very upsetting. The new project manager Alex was very attentive and responsive to our emails. I would say that since quality of work is the most important thing to us, so even though we had a very frustrating beginning to this project we would absolutely use Moss again.

He did not finish what I wanted him to do. He said I would have to buy another package for him to complete the work. The Big Deal was for 8 hours and I thought 8 hours was a bit much; he spent 8 hours but he did not finish. If he had finished, it would have been a great price. He went into my attic and hit at my attic fan; it was working and it turned out. He did not disconnect it which I thought that he should have because it started to trip the breaker. He had left it on or something like that; I am not sure. He said the attic fan was burned out and he could change it but he would have to order the parts; a couple of days after he left, it started tripping one of my breakers so I had to call an electrician to find out what was going on. I think it was just the workman, the office was very responsive.

He was a few minutes early, professional and very informative on future projects such as replacing some window sills that have dry rot. I did notice he missed a couple of the banisters that needed securing but perhaps that was on me in communication to him. I would use them again. I have a few more projects I will get estimates from them as well as others.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it was excellent. They were very flexible in when they could come, they came when they said they were going to come and the guy stayed until the work was done right. Everything about them was great. The work was done over two separate times. I had to pay about $86 above the Big Deal price for supplies and stuff. I don't see anyplace they possibly could have fallen short.

Replaced garbage disposal and fixed 2 toilets.

My wife and I were very impressed with the amount of knowledge and professionalism by the Moss folks. Very impressed!

Both gentlemen were punctual, professional, friendly, and went above and beyond. We have a very busy scheduled so it's a great feeling to have all of this done and with the peace of mind knowing professionals handled them!

Every aspect of this project was handled with professionalism care and diligence. We had a design in mind for this space (we had waited 20 years to re-do this portion of the house) and Moss worked with us on every aspect of our desires to make them workable given the size of the space, our budget and how we wanted the space to work for our home/life style. We still have one more bathroom to re-do and will definitely use Moss Building and Design.

We needed additional living space for our growing family but were unsure of what to expect with a project of this scale and magnitude. Well, Moss surpassed our expectations in every way. Starting with the proposal phase, through communication and meaningful discourse that stem from truly listening to the client, the owner-rep ascertained our needs and intended use for additional space and gave us all the information we needed UP-FRONT to make our start decision. My husband and I were very impressed not only by his expertise and knowledge, but also by his honesty, fair-dealing and willingness to work with us and share cost and other infomation, where other design-build firms were equivocal or "hiding the ball" on such details. After contract signing, a similarly productive design phase followed, where the architectural details brought real vision to the project. This stage followed our pace, and we were neither rushed to make decisions nor delayed from moving forward. Once the design plans were finalized, Matt (the project manager) took over, and then miracles started happening. With amazing planning, scheduling and organizational skills, Matt marshaled multiple crews and trades to execute the master plan with no delays or excuses, until the job was DONE and DONE WELL. That's priceless. Moreover, Matt conducted himself and his team with upmost expertise, professionalism, courtesy and responsiveness, while showing sensitivity to our family's needs (we and our 4 young kids lived in the house during construction). Tirelessly, he navigated us through the myriad of decisions and issues inherent in a project of this size and duration. Any problems that surfaced were handled immediately and effectively. Our customer care rep, Jodi, also ensured that we were on-schedule with materials selections and planned and attended our meetings with vendors, offering excellent advice that comes from many years of experience and a track record of many successful projects. Today, as we enjoy the comfort, luxury and practicality of our new master suite, we could not be happier that we selected Moss for this life-changing project. They have not only made our dreams a reality, they showed us how to improve on those dreams, and they did it all with their genuine customer-focused, family-friendly approach. Without question, Moss will be handling any of our future building/remodeling needs, and we have also enthusiastically recommended them to friends and neighbors.
