Meadows Farms Landscaping

We had some ideas of what we wanted to do with our backyard and tried them out on two landscape companies. The first one, just gave us an estimate for exactly what we suggested, no comments on whether our ideas were good or not. Then we got an estimate from Bea at Meadow Farms. She really knew her landscaping design and guided us to make our ideas all work together. We got all we wanted and more and the design was much better than we originally envisioned. She really has an eye for landscape design, very pleasant to work with and explained everything clearly. We knew we wanted the raspberry patch and a mimosa tree but Meadow Farms had none in stock. We did find them, however, at another nursery so purchased them. We merely asked the crew if they could dig the holes for us and they planed them all too, even though we had not purchased them from them. Great service.

They were very responsive to my calls. The landscape designer was professional and accommodating. However, before we left for vacation, we tried to schedule the work to be performed on the day after we returned home, and the designer told us that that would not be a problem, but he did not tell us that they have a separate scheduling department and that he couldn't schedule the appointment, he could only request a date. Although, I was extremely upset that I had taken an extra day off of work for nothing, they rescheduled our appointment for the following week and the work was completed in less than a day.

The work was done in less than 2 days and went very well. The crew was very professional with a foreman who was both helpful and solicitous. The quality of the new plantings is excellent, and the architectural advice was very helpful.

The day of the installion I met the team and they were pleasant and polite. However, numerous problems occurred such as some plants ordered were not available, brought wrong plants, forgot bricks for edging, knocked down gutter and built up dirt/mulch too high. On the latter, when it rained a couple of days later, I had dirt and mulch all over my sidewalks and patio. After several phone calls and finally a three-page letter, I got a decent response from management. They sent out a senior person to help with a redesign and she got the landscaping done correctly. I finally received what I wanted but only after much frustration, stress and extra time off from work.

Joe Hudgins is great to work with. He showed up on time for initial consult and drew up a very complete sketch of the front yard with suggested plants. He showed me photos of all plants on his laptop & worked with me to incorporate existing plants I wanted to save. Didn't even charge me for the consult, since I use Angie's List! The crew (Brett, foreman) installed everything in about 5 hours exactly according to Joe's plan. All the plants are very healthy. We purposely did not pay the irrigation sys waiver (pay $200 and Meadows will fix any pipes they bust during install). But the crew marked the 4 lines they cut and left us a detailed map. And you can't beat the lifetime and replant warranty!

Nathan Walbe was very patient and assisted us in designing new landscaping for our front and back yards. He suggested an imaginative design for the front, one which was flexible enough to work with our existing deck in the back, which we were planning to replace, allowing us to work around those plants. He was very polite and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, the work crew did not plant the correct tree in our front yard, it had to be replaced and replanted in our back yard. Another crew accidentally removed the wrong tree from our landscape, killing it. Then the replacement trees for our front and back yards had to be replaced again, because they showed no signs of life in spring. They did use nice quality plants, and the last work crew did a nice job replanting the replacement trees, however one of the bushes around my deck is dying and I'm still waiting for the inspector to inspect it, so it can be replaced. The Customer Service Office is not good about returning phone calls.

Everyone I came in contact with was professional and knowledgeable. Once we decided to go with the plan, everything was handled smoothly. The day the work was done, the crew and materials arrived on time, and the work was done with amazing skill. At one point our entire driveway was filled with dirt and mulch, but at the end of the day, the work was done beautifully, and the driveway and everything else was left clean and neat. They were very impressive.

Excellent. The landscape adviser came out when she said she would, gave us a good selection of paver styles to choose from, and gave us a prompt estimate. They said they could do the job from start to finish in 2 days and that's exactly what they did. The workers came out, worked very hard, plowed through unexpected difficulties with barely a pause, and were very careful with finishing details. We now have a great addition to our house and I'm not at all sorry that I paid someone else to do it. They did in two days what would have taken me most of the summer. I should also add that the foreman was very easy to work with. I had a few minor concerns with the methods they were using but he explained them politely and logically. He and his team were all quality individuals. I am very pleased to give them a good review and will definitely call on them again.

Not satisfied with the experience. I was ready to purchase and move forward, however he just left. I have since hired bio-green to install sprinklers and to do yard work. I still need a landscaper and help with design and implementation. It is almost impossible in Northern Virginia to get good people who actually show up and do what say they are good at.

Designer did a good job listening to what we wanted and making suggestions. The workers were polite, punctual and worked very hard. The office was unresponsive until I got the managers involved. We had 2 jobs done by them. The first was terrific. The second had 2 problems: not enough grass rolls were brought to complete the job, and the grass rolls that were installed were old, dried-out and never took. The office people were initially unwilling to help, but both problems were ultimately corrected after complaining to their managers. Overall, a good, basic job at a reasonable price, but you have to be aware of the quality of plants that they are installing and complain promptly to the managers if there is a problem. I would give them a second chance.

Meadows Farms is a pleasure to deal with. The employees are courteous and helpful. They do not rush you and take time in answering questions to make sure you get what is appropriate for your landscaping.

The planner was extremely helpful. I have a deer problem, and he knew just which plants were deer resistant. He was also very helpful in guiding me to a good layout of my lawn.

They were professional and helped us pick out the right tree for our type of soil. They did hire an outside contractor to deliver and plant the tree.

THE WHOLE PROCESS WAS A LOT OF FUN. WE MET WITH A DESIGNER AND HE SUGGESTED WHAT TYPES OF PLANTS AND SCRUBS WOULD WORK IN OUR YARD BASED ON SUNLIGHT, SOIL ECT. IT WAS A VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE.

THEY ARE AN ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT COMPANY. I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM. ON A SCALE FOR 1-10 I WOULD HAVE GAVE THEM A TWENTY. THEY ARE AN OUTSTANDING COMPANY. THEY DID A GREAT JOB ON MY WHOLE YARD AND MY LAWN LOOKS GREAT. THIS WAS A VERY BIG AND GREAT EXPERIENCE.
