Meadows Farms Landscaping

The landscape designer, Pepe, was very knowledgable and pleasant to work with. The crew and foreman were fantastic and left the yard spotless. I am sure I could have paid less by using the guy down the street who mows lawns and will pick up odd landscaping jobs - but the Meadows Farms warranty more than makes up the difference. when one of the trees failed to blossom or grow leaves, I called the customer service department, emailed them some photos, and they got back to me within a few days with a date to replace the tree. Will definitely be using them again.

We were very happy with the work. The workers showed up a bout 2 hours late, but they called to let us know they were running behind. They did all of the work in about 3 hours without taking any breaks. It looks great!

We did not nor will we use their services.

This went well. The provider gave me a drawing/ plan for the work. I haven't gone forward yet, but I am still considering the project.

The team was great! Arrived early, worked quickly and despite running into the issue of a mammoth boulder they had to remove from the hole they worked tirelessly to make it happen. Impressive job Meadows Farms!

There was a little difficulty in communications initially, but I think that was do the the winter. Plans came as promised. I wanted an estimate for the company to do the work, but I never got it. Plans came via USPS. I would have rather had it via email. Very nice people. Would recommend.

Attached are the before and after photos. :) I'm very happy with the end result and the price could not be beat. The Forman and his crew did a great job and Lisa our designer has been extremely helpful not just with this project but with several others. The installation took about 4 1/2 hours to complete they arrived on time. As you can see by the photos I was in desperate need for a place for my grills to live and thanks to Meadows Farms I have a great patio for my grills. I have additional projects that I am saving for and would absolutely have Meadows Farms compete on the projects.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that we purchased. It was fine. We didn't pay any additional charges. They were all right; there was nothing spectacular. It was pretty average and there was nothing that made them stand out. We have somebody that we like better.

This review is for the designer and not the workers who actually completed the work. Initially I was very happy with the design and work Meadows Farms completed. I called them to repair an irregular slate patio that had been damaged when we had our deck replaced. I also received an estimate to restack a small wall and to install steps at my back gate. The wall is great. The steps at my gate, while very functional left a drop off that needed additional work to make it safe. There was a drop off and a sharp edge on one side. We added more soil and sod so there for safety. The designer might have noticed this but he never stopped by during or after completion of the project. The irregular slate patio was filled with stone dust between the stones. The patio is built on a slight angle away from the house and after less than two weeks a lot of the stone dust had already washed out and two stones were cracked because they had no support. I emailed the designer with pictures and he suggested using a different product between the stones and wanted to charge $100 per 50 square feet to fix the patio. I thought as a designer he should have realized that stone dust would wash out. After getting nowhere with the designer, I emailed Meadows Farms customer service with pictures attached and here is the response I received, Ms. Ingram ?I received the email that you sent regarding the patio we installed. Sorry to see you are having problems with the patio and getting it resolved. The Vice President of Landscaping has turned this over to Michael to solve and have it done in a timely manner. If you have not heard from Michael by weeks end please let me know.? Michael is the designer and his solution was to turn the problem back on me with additional charges. I no longer wanted to work with Michael especially now that the Vice President of Landscaping is making him fix a problem that he clearly did not want to fix. After I received the email from Chad Smith I called him. He was very polite and agreed that stone dust was not the correct product to use. He said Michael would come out whenever I wanted to fix it. Unfortunately by then we were in the middle of a turf renovation and timing was a factor in that renovation. There is a small window of opportunity to renovate cool season grasses in the spring. We didn?t need to have more workers damaging the turf. While Mr. Smith did agree to fix the patio I didn?t have the time to be home nor did I want to work with Michael again. If the designer had come out to look at the problem in the beginning instead of me having to email him more than once and then have to follow up with Customer Service it could have been repaired in a timely manner. We now have the correct product and will repair this ourselves. Hopefully we can be refunded the money we spent on the polymeric sand we had to purchase to repair the project Meadows Farms started. I would like to end with the fact that the workers did an outstanding job. They were very professional and cleaned up the work area after they finished. I think the problem was with the design and the lack of follow up from the designer.

After constructing a three feet high stone wall with dirt behind it as a planter in October 2005 for $1,641, the dirt settled behind the wall and the wall fell inward. Meadows Farm repaired the wall in March 2006 at no charge. In March 2012, the wall again shifted from the dirt pressing behind it and they again repaired the wall at a cost of $520. During one of the heavy snow storms we had in March 2014, the wall collapsed and was covered by the dirt behind it and the snow on top. I notified Meadows Farm on March 18, 2014 through Angie's List web-site. Dave Reed, the Landscape Department Vice President, emailed me immediately that his Customer Service Manager Mark Maddox would be in touch with me. I received a phone call from Mark Madden very quickly that he was on his way to my house despite ten inches of snow on the ground. He arrived shortly there after, took pictures and drew up a work order to re-build the wall with additional stone, additional dirt and relocating the water drain line from through the wall to in the ground below the wall to strengthen the wall. The Meadows Farm crew did all this work on April 10, 2014 at no charge. While the wall may not have been built correctly the first time, Meadows Farm responded immediately to the problem (in heavy snow), stood behind their work and made it right. I highly recommend them.

Sara was very pleasant and did a good job asking questions and figuring out what I wanted. I like the mapped out landscape design she provided me.

Excellent! Made recommendations after talking w/me. Worked very hard to ensure I would be getting the kinds of plants I wanted.

Pros: Landscape designer did an excellent job (Joe Hudgins) and was very knowledgeable and professional. The crews that came both times now worked hard and did quality work. Some of the shrubs/plants we good quality. Cons: The first crew came when there was still some snow on the ground, it was clear the nursery was anxious to get the crews to work. Several of the new plants they brought were not in great condition (and subsequently look really bad a month later despite appropriate watering.) The sod they originally brought was so poor they decided to take it back up after putting it down. I was never contacted (twice now) to schedule the remaining work, you have to call them. Then you get added on the schedule (apparently not as a priority to complete work already started). Currently I have to wait a month for them to come back and plant the shrubs not available the prior times and to replace the ones that are essentially dead due primarily due to their initial condition. Advice: Inspect all the plants/shrubs and sod prior to them putting anything in (ask for replacements if not high quality). Be proactive, call immediately if job not complete to schedule follow up work. Comments: I expect everyone's experience is different depending on what they have done. Meadows Farms could dramatically improve its customer service by having someone do day after follow up calls for customer satisfaction and/or have a supervisor come right after the work to inspect with customer and take corrective actions on a priority basis. It is poor business practice to make customers call to have incomplete work scheduled. Also, Meadows Farms could improve their service by having the designer provide a list of names and extension numbers of people to contact about installation questions/status.

Michael Gentile did a wonderful job. He showed up on time and delivered beyond my expectations. We just purchased our first townhome and our front and backyards were a train wreck. They flipped the house in the winter months and I assume didn?t have the chance to do anything with the yards. Nevertheless, Michael provided a way forward. His plans were incredibly detailed and included the exact quantity of plants, soil, and mulch I?d have to buy. He also provided us with a very neat and easy to understand drawing detailing how the landscaping should look. We enjoyed his plans so much that we decided to have Meadows Farms implement Michael?s plan and do the work. My backyard is kind of sketchy because a past homeowner laid a concrete and granite patio back there and clearly did it themselves. Years later, it?s cracked and uneven. I wasn?t even sure where to begin back there and Michael helped with that. He described a number of things I could do myself to make it more enjoyable and much, much easier on the eyes. Again, we?re very pleased with the service Michael and Meadows Farms provided. We can?t wait to have the work done in the front!

We met with Michael Gentile of Meadows Farms on two occasions. Michael designed a beautiful patio and landscaping plan for us complete with drawings and a price quote. The plan was well thought out and incorporated all of the plan details we had discussed in our first meeting. He provided pictures of the different features as well as many of the plants he had recommended to that we could better visualize the plan. We also thought that the quote was the most precise and the most reasonable quote we had received. Many hardscape contractors do not provide a sketch or plan design making it hard, at least for us, to visualize the project that we would be paying for. After seeing Michael's plans, it was easy to visualize the patio and surrounding plants. We thought it was beautiful and have chosen them to install our patio and landscaping. I will update my review when the patio and landscaping have been installed. UPDATE: the patio was completed last spring and my delay was due to medical issues in our family. We are very happy with our patio and receive many compliments on it from guests. It is beautiful! The team they sent worked very hard and completed the patio in the scheduled time-frame. I brought some issues to the attention of Meadows Farms after they had finished and they came back out quickly to correct the issues noted. While I cannot say it went smoothly from start to finish (what project ever does?), I can say that the do good work and stand behind their work correcting any issues without question. Many of the other contractors either did not offer any type of warranty or it was an "oral only" warranty. One of the reasons that I chose Meadows was because of their warranty. In my experience, getting a contractor to return once they are paid is usually difficult. This was not so with Meadows Farms. It was clear that they would not be happy until I was satisfied with the work. I am glad that I choose Meadows Farms and we would use them again.

Once I signed up for the deal, David Halloway from Meadows called to make an appointment to come by and discuss landscaping. He asked good questions about our preferences re color, types of plants, extensiveness of changes to be made and left us with a proposal along with a cost estimate. He returned to make adjustments to fit our budget and I signed |a contract. In short, no complaints thus far.

Mike Gentile was professional and to the point. He provided a schematic which I can evaluate and make a decision on for either the front or the back yards or both. The design he drew was in keeping with our discussion and suggestions. With few exceptions it is the design I would want. At this point however, I am holding back commencing the landscaping as there are other interior projects which take precedence.

The workers were very polite and professional. The workers explained what they were doing with each project. They made sure I would like the end result at each step of the project. Great experience from start to finish.

Really did not listen to me about choice of plants. Person was friendly and knowledgeable, she showed me her portfolio and was quite professional.

Pictures of the recommended plants would have been nice and pushed quality grade to an A.

He was a great guy. We talked about what could be done and he gave good prices for the options that we talked about. We have used this company before and they are a very good company to work with. He was on time and he sent the email when he said he would. They always have good stock and I always get my flowers from them. We know that when they do work they will have good follow up and they have came out to ensure us that a maple tree that they planted was doing well. I was pleased with the suggestions that he gave on the most recent service.

Carolyn was very thorough, which was incredibly helpful given my lack of knowledge regarding this subject matter. She took the time to understand my wants and then make suggestions based on them. She took the time to explain things to me that I didn't understand, which were plentiful. Once we were on the same page, she took the time to draw a detailed sketch of how the layout she recommended would work. A few days later, I received emails from Carolyn with the sketch, a price quote for the suggested work and pictures of the plants she recommended.
