Jon from Meadow Farms came out to provide a landscaping and lawn recovery estimates. We took a walk around the property and explained what we liked. Jon listened well and provided us a lot of good ideas and what was possible vs. what we really wanted to do. (Some areas of our yard aren't the best conditions for grass to grow.) Jon took the time to walk through two estimates: one for landscaping the front of the house (est. $3,500) and the other for a full lawn recovery to include top soil, compost, aerating, slit seeding and a few other dress up items (est. $4,000 for approx. 21,000 sq ft of lawn). We still have a few more estimates to collect but we were happy with the service Jon and Meadow Farms provided.

I wanted a place that knew about plants and how to plant them so they would thrive. I have clay soil, so I wanted them to make raised beds that would have some perennials and seasonal vegetables. Front yard is funny shaped because we are on the cul-de-sac in a subdivision. I'm an experienced gardener in another climate. I am getting too old to do all this myself. In front, I wanted a rose garden, bordered by liriope and smaller hemerocallis (monkey turf and daylilies). I had the roses planted already, and a native wisteria. I was thinking 1) pull up turf, 2) add compost to clay to create a better topsoil, and raise the bed level 3) mulch. They chopped up the turf (I still find the green netting) and put down about 8 inches of mulch. They planted the liriope (they brought them) but not the daylilies (in pots, waiting in back). One of the little roses was buried. Another got chopped. In back, three 4x4 raised beds were requested, with a drawing for where the plants should be installed. One raised bed would be "permanent" with a stacked rock perimeter. The 2 beds that were just supposed to be piled amended soil ending up as places where turf was replaced by a thin layer of mulch. No plants installed. The stone edged bed seems to have had nice soil added. Again, some mulch. It seemed like they did the front and then realized there was stuff to do in back too. I had to take pictures and get them to come out again to get the beds "raised" and the plants installed. They installed them in the wrong places. They didn't dig holes big enough for the plants to develop roots in the new locations. The blueberry plants died. The echinacea they planted died (I had started some from seed that I installed last fall and this year it is great). They advertise that they are plant people. But they are trying to make the money off the hardscape like all the others. The crews we got may as well have been hired at a street corner.
Description of Work: Prepared beds and installed the plants.

There were some obvious miscommunications on this project. The Angie's List member contacted our customer service manager soon after the initial installation in early June 2013. Corrections were made a week later, and in the year since we have not heard of any further issues. I am doubting that the photos of plants sitting on the driveway have been there for a year, and the follow up that was done in mid June 2013 was intended to address exactly the issues stated here. So, if there are issues that have not been resolved we will be happy to address them.

Definitely got my money's worth. Actually felt a little guilty getting so much for such a low price.
Description of Work: I am "into" gardening so I am somewhat knowledgeable on the subject. The designer that came out, John Long, gave me almost two hours of his time giving me all kinds of advice on all my trees and shrubs, including pruning tips, expected future size, and identification on my ten acres. He rattled off the genus and species of several plants. He even threw in a little plan for an entrance planter I am building.

We have several other ideas that we are going to contact Meadows Farms to help us with based on how well this job went. Based on accounts shared by others related to their experiences we are very satisfied and want others to compare the price and quality of Meadows Farms design and installation. We are confident the experience will be very similar
Description of Work: Based on some of our ideas the designer, Glen developed a lay out including stone work and plant suggestions and placement. The variations were done quickly and very much to our liking. The installation was done two weeks later. Three guys showed up on time and set to work after the foreman and I reviewed the drawings. As the job progressed there were a couple of times the foreman checked to be sure of details on the plan. They did a really nice job with the stone work. When the plants were placed and mulched the change to the front yard was everything we had hoped for. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the job was the stamina of the crew. It was the hottest day of the year and they didn't cut corners; all of the design was completed and they did a total clean up. They said the job took longer because of the heat and humidity. I was totally impressed with the outcome of their work and their positive attitudes

The service went well. Jonathan came and discussed options for the walkway. We settled on a stone path. We needed to replace the current stepping stones and put something in more permanent as it would often get muddy in the backyard after it rained. Our initial date had to be rescheduled due to bad weather. There was some miscommunication with the scheduling, but it was quickly resolved. The walkway looks great and has held up so far.

I have spoke to many employees only to be sent to another person. Ask to speak to any manager and "they were all at a meeting Left messages for a manager to please call back and NO call backs. You would think a person who is spending thousands of dollars would at least get the courtesy of a call back. I am having a Fourth of July party and my new waterfall and the unfinished landscape will be for the world to see. I can include photo's if you would like. These people should NEVER be on Angie's list, I would invite anyone to come and take a look. Six weeks, the major part of the waterfall was done in a few days yet I am still here with work to be done. I can give you much more information on this wreck if you would like. The Better Business Bureau is next and then maybe Seven on your side. Needless to say I am very upset. Toni Ulvi

We regret that we had a small delay in communicating with this customer. It appears that a message was left on Tuesday while all managers were in a meeting, and the call was not returned until the following day. When the call was returned the follow up to mount a lighting transformer and add a few rolls of sod was scheduled, We are quite certain that posting photos of this water feature would not reveal the disaster that this comment portrays. In fact, we've received no complaint about the quality of the work at all.
