We had all of our gutters replaced as well as some of the supporting wood work. Katchmark was very responsive and kept us updated about any necessary changes to the original contract.

Made the appointment and Stephen arrived on time. He inspected the roof, provided a description the source of our leaks from the roof. It was a couple of weeks (they are kept busy) until a crew arrived to work on the roof. Workers were courteous, on time, and professional. Very happy with the results.

Over a number of years water had leaked into our basement. I received a couple of estimates on the job over the span of two and a half weeks. I called Katchmark after becoming frustrated with initial contractors not showing up, not timely submitting bids, or clearly not knowing how to address the problem and attempting to recommend significant over correction of the problem. I found local company Katchmark on Angie's list and called them for an estimate. Eric Katchmark came to the house when promised, he quickly assessed the situation and identified the causes of the problem. He was clearly very knowledgeable about the business and also acknowledged that he would consult experts in the company for any other suggestions - which I appreciated. It was a pleasure dealing with Eric and Katchmark construction. Due to quirks in my schedule I ended up going with another company this time, however I will most definitely contact Katchmark first for any home, roofing or gutter repairs that I have in the future

It went really well. The guy who did the survey made sure they knew what was to be done. They came when they said they would and finished the job in one day. They cleaned up very well and also came back a few weeks later to double check their work. Their prices were competitive.

Kathmark was responsive in getting a quote. The quote was for a good product at a competitive price. We chose them because of the combination of professionalism and relative cost. So far, the roof appears to be solid. We have not since had any of the leaking issues we were experiencing before the roof was replaced.

Was going to have roof done in Nov. due to multiple leaks made much worse by storm "Sandy". Because of weather it didn't get done until January, in a brief 3 day dry, warmer spell. Crew of about 8 - polite, fast workers. Waited to send in review to see how roof holds up. No leaks of any kind thru several bad storms.

This is the second time we've used Katchmark for our roofing needs since we moved into our townhouse in 2010. This time, we had a roof leak that damaged our laminate floors, so we called Katchmark to replace it for us. Steve Jr. came out and took a look for us and provided an estimate. The work was done within a couple of weeks and to our satisfaction right on estimate. Tina (at the Katchmark office) and Steve are both very pleasant to work with and Steve is always on time! Would definitely recommend them to others!

I was given an appointment for Friday June 21st for Katchmark to come out to give me an estimate to repair the balcony. The provider did not arrive in the window provided, and later called to see if he could come on Saturday, June 22nd instead. I said 10:30 on Saturday would work. Forty minutes into that window on Saturday, I contacted the estimator, said I had errands to run and asked when he would arrive since 10:30 had well past. He said "you have time, I won't be there for at least a couple of hours". Not punctual, but I would have been fine with that had he contacted me to give a heads up versus me having to track him down to see if/when he would show. I was prompted to write this review because the company I ended up hiring to make the repair (NOT Katchmark) is here today. They came out when they promised and prepared an estimate for me on the spot. Of note, today is July 24, and I have YET to receive the estimate from Katchmark (more than a month after the estimator visited). That is just terrible service. I would have expected better service as a potential repeat customer (I paid Katchmark more than $5000 to repair my roof in November). They may do good work (lots of As on Angie's List), but have poor front-end service. I would not recommend them.

They arrived on time for the estimate. They explained all the steps they could take. The carefully documented my choices for action. They arrived on time the day of the work. To the best that I could determine, the work followed the course of action that had been explained to me. They protected the bushes around my house from their equipment. The work was done quickly, and there were no problems during the work. The only issue came a week later when they returned to finish the one task the people doing the shingles couldn't do - but I had been told that all the work was done, so waking up to people on my roof when I was not expecting any more work to be done was a rude awakening. However, given various horror stories I've heard of people dealing with contractors, this is a minor complaint. it just could have been avoided completely if the person who was supposed to tell me that the work was not 100% completed had been clearer, and if they had told me that someone would be back on my roof on the day they came back.

I sent an e-mail requesting a quote to repair a leak in our sunroom. I got an automated response stating that someone would be in touch within 24 hours. I have yet to hear from them.

Fantastic job by a professional contractor. In all phases of the job, starting from cost estimate, to scheduling, to performing the work, to final inspection, Katchmark was timely, flexible, courteous, professional and performed with great craftsmanship. We competed roofing companies by meeting with and receiving quotes from three companies. Katchmark was the best value, and imparted the best sense of technical capability and professionalism. I recommend this company to anyone needing a new roof, and I have already made recommendations to my neighbors. Kudos to Vinnie, Wayne, and the whole roofing crew.

It went fine, but way overpriced. We won't use them again.

Everything turned out great! They are very responsive and offer quality work. They have great workers that made sure I was pleased with the end results. Also, they were very respectful of my property and cleaned up after themselves.

Katchmark replaced our gutters and downspouts for our townhouse. They were recommended by our neighbors and were better than we ever expected. They were quick with an estimate, delivered on time, the gutters are great and they revised the downspouts as requested. They took away all the old gutters, cleaned up every nail and piece of trash and left everything spotless. Their front office is a delight to work with, they attend to every detail and answer all questions and return phone calls promptly. An excellent experience from start to finish!

The company was very easy to work with. Once we received our estimate, the work was scheduled shortly after. The workers were punctual, communicated with us very well and the main thing was that they cleaned up very well when the job was complete. The new roof looks great!

They were on time. The price was correct and they did not over charge. They were clean and professional. I would recommend.

Overall, things went very well. The time had come to replace our original roof on our Dutch Colonial home. The roof was from 1969 and was constructed of very heavy concrete shingles. We had been having recurrent problems with leaks over the dormers. We invited four roofing companies to come out for estimates. Two expressed concerns about the labor and cost associated with removing and disposing of the existing concrete shingles. One of them never got back to us with an estimate, while the other gave us a high-ball figure (about $5,000 higher than the other two estimates we received). Katchmark and another company gave us similar estimates. Ultimately, we went with Katchmark, because we had a good experience with them in the past with installation of gutters and Azek fascia and they were highly rated by others on Angie's list. Since the dormers on the front of the house protrude from the mansard portion of our roof, we decided to replace the dormer windows, siding, and trim at the same time as the roof. In addition, we decided to replace our patio sliding door in the rear of the house. Katchmark wanted to first install the windows before beginning work on the roof. Since ordering the windows takes some time, we were advised it would be a few weeks before they could get started. In the meantime, Katchmark had someone come out at no charge and patch up the existing leak over our dormer. We have very expensive landscaping surrounding our house, and I was concerned about the potential for damage if one of the concrete shingles were to fall from the house. In addition, we have a concrete driveway, and I was concerned that the weight of the dump truck might cause it to crack. Katchmark was very good about addressing my concerns. They put down heavy plywood on the driveway before bringing the dump truck onto it. The roofing crew was small and worked on our roof for about a week (it is a pretty large roof). The crew was very friendly and communication was excellent throughout the process. They were very careful of my landscaping (no plants at all were damaged). The crew was very skilled and did a first-rate job. A good test of a company is how it handles things when something goes wrong. Katchmark scored well in this regard. As the windows were being installed, I noticed that they did not look quite right -- there was more frame and less glass than I was expecting. I immediately contacted Katchmark, and they quickly investigated. Apparently, the manufacturer had sent the wrong model. Katchmark apologized and told me they would make it right. As a temporary measure, they completed the installation of the new windows that were on hand. They then put in a new order for the correct windows and installed them when they came in a few weeks later. Once the correct dormer windows were installed, Katchmark sent its siding crew to install the siding and Azek trim around the windows. The foreman for this project came out in advance of the work to assess what needed to be done. She was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. After looking at what needed to be done, she put together a plan and went over it with me to make sure I was on board. I thought it sounded great, and I was delighted with the results when the work was completed. Overall, this was a very good experience. I found everyone at Katchmark whom I dealt with to be personable, friendly, and professional. I felt that the pricing was quite reasonable and the work first rate. I also liked that I was able to get a "Golden Pledge" warranty, since Katchmark is a GAF "Master Elite" contractor. As part of the warranty, a GAF inspector will be coming out to verify that everything has been installed in accordance with GAF's strict installation requirements. In addition, the warranty is transferable (once) and provides coverage against defects in the entire roofing system (lifetime) as well as workmanship (25 years), including the full cost of replacement (parts, labor, and disposal).

The work was completed 2 days after we signed the contract. When they came the first day to do the work, it was spitting rain and they didn't want the wetness to cause problems for our roof in the future, so they came back the next day. They were working early, and were very nice. Our cat ran into the attic while they were up there, and they essentially allowed me to lock them into the attic so that I could protect our cats. They were also about $1500 cheaper than the other companies that provided us with estimates. They seemed fairly knowledgeable, because the other roofers said that there was no way our roof was only 12 years old. We know for a fact that it was because we bought our house from a friend, but we didn't say anything. These roofers knew that our roof was 12 years old, and were able to tell us exactly why the roof had deteriorated so quickly (improper ventilation mostly).

very professional. provided estimate promptly and office was in constant contact. only issue is that they dont offer warranty on repairs, just new work.

It worked out really well, they did a good job, they were here for just two or three days, they cleaned up well, and we didn't have any problems.

They were very timely, worked quickly and efficiently, and did exactly as they said they would. They were also very clean.

The quality of their performance was excellent. The only negative would be that I found several nails missed in the cleanup. I noticed a small area where the garage roof adjoined the porch roof that was not completey trimmed to lay flat. Once contacted, they quickly came, and made the modification.. The company worked well with us to get a fair price in conjuction with scheduling our installation with other neighbors purchasing and needing the same work. They were straight shooters, without the hard sale tactics used by others where we had previously solicited bids. We are pleased with the quality of materials used and the quality of work performed. Again, it was a comfortable experience without drama or hassels.

The roof leaked. We asked for estimates to repair and to replace roof. Katchmark rep inspected roof and provided estimates to repair and to replace. We decided on repair. Katchmark came when they said they would and completed repair in timely manner. We did get another estimate and Katchmark was the lower of the two.

I joined Angie's List in an effort to avoid bad contractors. Replacing a roof is one of many necessary expenses a homeowner will have to undertake to ensure peace of mind and protect their investment, that is why I only selected the contractors with "A" ratings. I interviewed seven companies. I evenually narrowed my selection down to five companies, Katchmark Construction, Inc., fall in the middle in regard to price. I had no ideal what it would cost to replace my roof but by interviewing these contractors, researching roofing material using the internet, visited Home Depot and a shingle warehouse over on Rhode Island Avenue, I was better able to determine what I believed was a reasonable "medium price range" for my roof. I also educated myself on what constitutes a complete roof replacement. Once I understood the type of material needed, I made a list and sent the list to two of the five contractors both companies response was positive. In additon to the Angie's List references, I called and spoke with at least two references for a more personal interaction. I did everything I could think of doing. I prayed to God in Jesus name for wisdom and guidance. (In the past, I had some bad experiences with various contractors to the point I dread the whole process of look for and hiring home improvement contractors.) Finally, I selected Katchmark Construction, Inc. for their consistency, they were not the least expenses as I mentioned above their price fell in the middle. They, meaning the sale representative, Vinnie, office personnel and the field superisor, Ken were all consistent and they paid attention to the detail. I felt like Vinnie listen to what I was saying and addressed all my concerns and that the written contract reflected this. I felt that the price was fair to me and the company (based on my research and equivalent contractors' written contracts). In addition to the signed contract, I received a copy of the DC Building Permit, I received a copy of my lifetime shingle warranty and a CD showing before and after pictures of my roof. The material used appeared to be of good quality and there were about five or six workers and they all conducted themselves in a very professional manner. The roof was replaced in a day. They worked very hard to clean up my yard and protect my plants. They used a nail magnet at the end to sweep up the nails around the perimeter of the house. The work began and ended on Monday, March 4, 2013, on Tuesday, I met with Ken for a final walk through we found some more nails and he picked them up. It was very important to me that the company was concern that I was satisfy with their work.

We used Katchmark last year to replace several windows in our home and repair several dings to the siding that the company had installed several years ago. We chose them over several better priced estimates because we had used Katchmark for a series of projects previously (roof replacement, gutter replacement, vinyl siding) and found them awesome in each of these cases. I don't know if the management has gone downhill, or if window replacement is too small a piece of their business to warrant responsible oversight. Either way, it was an awful experience from start to end. Forgive the detail, but here is the story. It took 6 months to get a very small amount of work done (3 windows and a couple of planks of siding). Katchmark has a single individual who is solely responsible for the window aspect of their business. He speaks little English and apparently makes his own schedule. We waited weeks for our window to be ordered because we had never been told he would be coming out to do measurements (and his messages were unintelligible.) Three months later, the windows were finally installed. However, one was done incorrectly - presumably because of a mismeasurement. The trim was double the size of every other window on our house - it looked awful. It took weeks again to get this guy, Katchmark's sole window installer, to return to inspect his work (apparently no one else at Katchmark oversees him) because he took leave without notice. Then we waited another 6 weeks for a new window despite his promises that it would be less than 10 days. We've since had contractors to the house for a larger project who were shocked at the quality of the window install. They also informed us that given the age of our home, Katchmark should have tested for lead and should have used remediation measures in doing the window replacement - which of course was not done. In the interim, we inquired what had happened to the siding repairs that were also part of the job. Four months after we had started the project, they did the repairs while we were not home - but unfortunately used the wrong color of siding. It was on the front of our home and looked absurd. An easy fix, right, since Katchmark had done the original work themselves... but the office staff - who were repeatedly insulting and offensive on routine queries - swore up and down that the replacements were the correct color, and insisted that any color differentiation was simply ordinary fading or my imagination (except that the new color was dramatically lighter than the siding on our house). Thankfully, a construction manager eventually came out and immediately realized the problem, and acknowledged that the workers should never have installed what was obviously an incorrect material. We paid our bill in full, we never received any apology or acknowledgement from Katchmark that their work was incredibly tardy and substandard. This is a company we had used on three or more separate occasions previously - for siding, gutters, and roofing (and post-storm repairs) and we had recommended them widely, including elsewhere on the web. Never again. I'd advise anyone considering Katchmark to think again.
