Collegiate Sealers & Paving

My driveway was in bad need of being replaced. The original paving company that put in the driveway did a very poor job. I had been using Collegiate Sealers to seal our existing driveway for the past 6 years and they have always been prompt and professional in their service. I didn't realize that Collegiate also performed paving and tried going with a business that did my neighbors driveway. They wanted half the money up front then the rest upon completion. I didn't do my homework (along with several other neighbors) and found out the hard way that this company wasn't really professional and they left my driveway partially torn up and never returned. I then joined Angies List and searched for asphalt contractor and saw Collegiate listed. I called them and told them my situation along with some of the neighbors and they came out and gave each of us a reasonable estimate to remove the complete existing driveway and replacement. They came to do the work as scheduled and did a highly professional job. Then in the spring they were kind enough to come and seal for free. I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing driveway repair, replacement or sealing.

The work went really well. I would rate them highly on every aspect except on the quality of work done.

They did when they said they would do it for the price they said they would do it. They did fill in the cracks and I had to have them come back to fill them, but they still did not do it. Then I just let it go.

They did a good job. They will match a lower estimate from someone else and go $5 lower.

While I was satisfied with the job performed, and the crew was fast and efficient, my larger concern was when the two man crew decided to use my lawn as a door mat to wipe their tar-laden feet on. They made every effort to not step on the concrete sidewalk, which is understandable, but my grass became their target.. And while I can't be sure if this is a standard company practice, now my grass is damaged. This was done after I asked them not to do it; however, I am not certain the crew understood what I was saying. Either way, there is probably a real simple solution to this, such as using cardboard to wipe their feet on.

Positive experience from start to finish. Were prompt in our request for estimate and provided lowest price for service. Arrived on time both days and employees were friendly and professional. Will use for all future driveway maintenance.

They came out to reseal my driveway, did a really nice job. Unfortunately, some neighborhood kids got into it and drew on it with sticks while it was so wet. I called the company, and without hesitation, they offered to come redo it for free. They were more than fair and responsive, and I was very pleased with their service.

They are excellent. If something has to be done, they come and do it with no extra charge. Their price is very good. I would use them in the future.

They did the work in half an hour. They show up on time. They are efficient. What I don’t like about them is that, they don’t have someone usually who speaks good English. They do give good discounts. Their price is reasonable. I would use them in the future.

The whole experience was first class. They responded to my request for a quote in one day. They were very cooperative about scheduling around my calendar. They did a very nice job seal coating the driveway and filling cracks as they described on their website and in their literature. Will definitely use them again.

They did a fantastic job! I didn't have to get a new drive way because they did such a good job. They didn't leave any mess and I was very pleased.

We don't really see them, they come - do it - then they are gone. It seems to hold up.

I really like dealing with Collegiate Sealers & Paving. They are an excellent company and I use them every year. They showed up when they were supposed to, were efficient and cleaned up the mess in the driveway.

The job went excellent. They didn't leave a mess. The sealing was quite effective. I am very happy I did it. It filled in a lot of small cracks I had in the driveway. It was very quick, only about 20 min.

It went very well. On time, and a job well done. Not entirely sure whether the sealing material they use is all that durable. Several months into it, I can see I will need to do it again later this year.

The rep was personable and knowledgeable. They came on the appointed date which luckily was warm enough for the job to be done. The job was completed the same day, the work debris was cleaned up and my neighbor and I are very pleased. Lastly, Collegiate discussed future care and gave us a brochure describing the care.

They arrived on time and spent the full day doing the job right.

Showed up during time time given and did an excellent job sealing my driveway. Took them about ten minutes sealing roped off the driveway and picked up the check. I spent more money two years ago doing it myself with products from Home Depot. I will use them again.

We received a group discounted rate as our HOA organized with the company for several interested neighbors to have their driveways sealed the same day. The company came while we were away at work that day and completed the work. It was a Friday. When we arrived home, we saw that the driveway entrance was roped off with stakes and caution tape (as the company said it would set up prior to leaving) so to prevent any person from driving up onto the fresh asphalt and leaving tire imprint marks. However, as we were inspecting the driveway, we indeed noticed tire marks left in the asphalt - "dual-ie" tire marks like from the bigger company size trucks that you see people driving. We snapped some pictures with our camera phones and set off to talk to a few of our neighbors who had been at home during the service that day and they confirmed for us that the employees of the company had been riding in a truck with dual-ie tires. We placed a call to the company and since it was after hours, left a message on their voice mail. We were heading out of town for the next week and did not receive a call-back from the company. When we returned over a week later and followed up with them, the gentleman in the office asked why we did not call immediately. We responded that we had left a message and were awaiting their call back. He bounced us to a "supervisor's" voice mail to leave a message and told he would follow up with us about the issue. The supervisor never called back and so 2 days later we called again. We spoke with the same gentleman as before in the office who this time was a little hostile about the issue and asked how we could be sure it was dual-ie tire marks. He had us email him the tire pictures we had taken. After reviewing the pictures, he responded that the team that had done our driveway that Friday had in fact not been in a dual-ie tire truck. We asked how he could be sure of that when our neighbors who had been home during the service that day said they were in a dual-ie truck. He responded that he was sure they were not the only dual-ie truck in our whole county and it was obvious that someone else had driven up onto our driveway sometime that Friday after the service had been performed. We asked him how likely it was that after this "unknown someone with the dual-ie truck" drove onto our fresh asphalt, they had stopped to pick up and reassemble the stakes and caution tape at the entrance of the driveway that they had been forced to drive through to get up onto the driveway. He had no answer for us except to say that since they were not at fault they would not repair it. He offered to have them come out to do a whole new treatment of our asphalt - for the full service price of $125. We scoffed at this and refused. We took our complaints to the HOA board and later found out from them that this same thing with the tire marks had happened to another house at the far opposite side of our neighborhood who had had the same service as us that Friday. However, the company had admitted fault in their case and had come out promptly to fix their error. We still don't understand why they would refuse us when we had the same issue from the same service date as this other home in our neighborhood but at this point we would not trust them to come back.

All employees were cordial and professional. The work was completed in a very timely manner. I called to receive an estimate on 8/17, the estimator came to our house on 8/19 and provided a written estimate of the job. He took the time to answer my questions, which I appreciated. The original work date had to be postponed because of bad weather, but the company quickly rescheduled our job. The crew was here on time and completed our long driveway in a remarkably short amount of time. Overall, the work was far superior to previous sealcoating jobs done by other companies. We had a long period of rainy weather shortly after the job was done, so it was difficult to judge the uniformity of the coat. When the driveway was finally dry we did note a few patches that appeared thinner than their surrounding areas, but overall the driveway looks good and the coating is holding up well.

They did what we asked them to do, but you really need to inspect it before they leave.

It was all done by phone with a very helpful salesperson who gave us dates and described the process. We did not have to be home and they came on the dates he said. It rained shortly after the job so much of it washed away. I called and he explained and scheduled us for the second application and it looks just right. He said he appreciated that I called back. We would use them again.
