+ -1 moreIt is always expensive and never a good experience so evaluating the service is by nature of the experience a bit biased. I'm glad they were available, and I finally got back into my house. And I'm glad it was summer.
Description of Work: The problem I called about was that I was locked out of my house. The nature of job of sending a locksmith to points scattered all over the area for the number of people that get locked of their residences in a given day is that the locksmith can be 2-3 hours away before they can make to your specific home. Basically, you wait. And if you are lucky you locked yourself out with your phone in your pocket.

+ -1 moreI needed all my locks replaced due to the fact that an unsavory tennat moved out and I suspected he had keys to several of my doors. I called on Thursday and got an appointment for Monday which was my requested date. The locksmith arrived on time. He was at my house for approximately five hours due to fact that had one deadbolt that gave him a large amout of trouble due to its age. He persevered and finally managed to get it replaced. He did a very good job, left no mess and was quiet but cordial. I would use them again and have used them in the past. They are a bit pricey but do such a good job that it is worth the money. They gave me an over the phone estimate of $500 and charged $567 which I am guessing was the result of the troublesome deadbolt. They are a dependable and good company.

I have all the insight I need to follow up on my door replacements, and I am very satisfied that I was given good counsel and assistance. I will definitely return to Baldino's when I've got the doors replaced so that I can work with Frankie Turner to make the deadbolts and knobs part of my new unikey system.
Description of Work: This was my second appointment with Barldino's, focused on completing the install job where parts were not available in the initial visit. The task was to install deadbolts (previously completed, same excellent service) and then to replace door knobs on exterior security doors in a home I recently purchased. Baldino's assigned Frankie Turner to my home, and he did an outstanding job working with my doors. He was very thorough in explaining my options, in recommending materials, and in setting my expectations. I have a home where there was never truly a unikey system in place. Frankie has set the conditions to have a really solid unikey system once I follow through and replace two badly weathered doors with new doors. The specific work for the second visit involved cutting larger knob holes, adjusting the latch plates, and in one case, adjusting the threshold guard at the base of the door to 'tune up' the swing of the door. In steps where sawdust or refuse was developed, Frankie cleaned it all up and made sure the workplace still looked like home once he was through. Frankie also pointed out the proper care and maintenance required to keep the doors functioning, and recommended some product to ensure smooth lock action and bolt action.

Description of Work: My home elevator was broken by movers when I moved in and the door to the elevator room was locked. So I called this company to unlock the door so the elevator people could come soon and fix it (I'm disabled). Locksmith is 2 miles from my house and it was just an interior doorknob (no dead bolt). Service man just picked the lock, did nothing else to get door open, spent no more than 10 minutes and charged me about $200.00. I called the company the next day and spoke with the service manager (think his name was Jeff) and told him I thought this was way too much for what was done. He was rude, told me that's what they charge and too bad. There is another locksmith in Leesburg so I went to speak to them and they said they would not have even charge half of that. I used the other Co to re-key my doors and they didn't even charge me $100 for that!!

+ -1 moreWe called before 8. They said they would charge us $190 to come out, or we could wait until 8:30 and pay less (the non-emergency fee). We asked them to please just come out--we were having an emergency. They said they would come; however, some time later, they called and said they really didn't have anyone nearby to perform the service. We had another locksmith come, and he charged us $90-a significant difference.

He didn't have the equipment to program the OEM transponder Honda key but he charged only a fraction of the price of other locksmiths to have it cut. Other locksmith in the area start at $120 - $225. Crazy! He only charged $35 (I provided the key) and the dealer can program the key for $60.

+ -1 moreThe technician was punctual and did an overall fine job. Regarding the locked knob underneath the keypad he said he would switch that out. I'm hoping there will not be additional labor charges.... Overall, I was surprised by the cost. For my small townhouse and three doors, it seems like way too much. Having said that, I take responsibility for not reviewing the hardware costs and asking more questions about labor costs before agreeing to the work. Next time for a job this size, at least, I'd go to Home Depot and buy the hardware and have a friend install.
Description of Work: Pretty simple, straight forward new townhouse purchase lock switch. I had three exterior locks replaced; one if which I wanted a keypad installed. After installation, I noticed there was a 'locked door knob" beneath the keypad, which in my mind defeats the purpose of having the keypad. If the bottom knob somehow gets pushed in, the keypad will not help in opening the door without a key.

For the safety of our daughter, they gave us advice that lost our business. They were quick to get back to us so I would say they were responsive.
