When Aptive came knocking, I began with, "You are Aptive Pest Control, yes?" He said Yes, so I next asked: "What's your name?" His response was Why? I responded, "You're on my property, I want to know who I'm dealing with, so again: What is your name?" He would not identify himself, instead pivoting to ask why I was so hostile, which I disregarded. I know an evasive person when I deal with one, and I wasn't taking his bait. I also know that he wants to mark people as Hostile on his list, to avoid accountability. Instead, I said, "I'll explain once I know your name. Will you please tell me your name?" After the FIFTH attempt at getting his name, I gave up. I told him his failure to identify himself meant we were done. I told him he was now committing an act of trespass and that he should leave my property and never come back and if he did I would call the police. At this, he STILL wanted the last word, so I closed the door and watched him leave. Avoid this outfit is my advice.

Be careful of the salesman who knocks at your door. They misled me by promising $89 charge for first visit and then finding a $169 charge on my account. I signed the contract with him but neveer got a copy and now find that i cannot cancel without paying $199. Total first visit therefore was $368 since I want to cancel after believing I have been sacmmed. Also was told I would be getting visits every month at $89 and now find that winter I get every 3 months yet I pay $89/month for a year. Not worth it.

Aptive came out to our house trying to get us to sign up. He stopped by earlier in the day, and then came back later. They tried a hard sell, but after the salesman was done he cut across our lawn, walking through an area covered with straw that we had reseeded. My wife said something to him and he replied he always cuts across yards. If they show such a lack of respect for your property and a willingness to cut corners, can you imagine how they will handle any kind of problem?

Full Disclosure: I have not hired Aptive. They have done no work for me. But I just had a terrible experience with an Aptive representative soliciting door-to-door. I listened politely to his sales pitch, declining when given the opportunity. I made the mistake of mentioning I already had a Pest Control service I was happy with, which only gave him a bit of information to latch onto and doggedly attempt to tear to shreds with increasing vitriol. I said I wasn't interested in switching, and he continued his sales pitch. I said I had to go, and he replied he was sure I was busy, and the continued his sales pitch. Eventually, I pointed out that he had ignored my No Soliciting sign. He said if he'd seen that he wouldn't have knocked, and then continued his sales pitch. I used every polite rejection I have cultivated in my life, to no avail. Finally, I went "Sir, I have said no multiple times. How many times do I have to decline for you to respect that?" He acknowledged that he was like that, and continued his sales pitch. I warned him, "Sir, I really don't want to shut this door in your face," to which he replied something along the lines of it wouldn't be the first door shut in his face, and continued his sales pitch. So, I told him I was shutting the door, and I did. Absolutely ridiculous. If this is how you treat your prospective customers I don't care how good your company is. How many up-charges and additional services are you going to try and pressure me to pay for later? There is a line between being a go-getter of a determined salesman and being unreasonable and disrespectful. This was the latter.

Had a service contract for over a year. had to call back out twice. each time it took a week to get a tech to my house. Tried to call and cancel the service and on hold for an hour and a half with customer service, I finally gave up and hung up. But when you call back for a "NEW" service quote, a live person answers in less than 2 minutes. I also emailed to cancel my service and NO response after 4 days.... DONE WITH THEM!

Called about millipedes in my basement. Service provider was supposed to call ahead the first visit but did not. Was there for 5 minutes and sprayed the interior and exterior. Was supposed to treat the yard as that's where they come from but provider refused to treat the yard and said just what he did would work. First visit had zero effect on the infestation so I called and scheduled a re-treatment. Second visit provider called ahead as planned and treated in the interior and one side of the exterior. I asked him to treat the other sides and the back of the house but he refused and was certain this would solve the issue because he thought he knew where the bugs were coming from. I was told it would work in 3 to 5 days. A week and a half later the treatment had zero impact and the basement is still infested with millipedes. Also had him treat a yellow jackets wasps nest and that also had zero affect. Mind you I have taken off work both treatments to ensure they could get inside so the treatment would work. Called for a 3rd re-treatment. It's now been a month since the first and none of the treatments had any effect. Service provider was supposed to call 30 minutes ahead and was scheduled to arrive between 4:00 and 6:00pm however I get a phonecall from my neighbor at 2pm saying he saw an Aptive Environmental person at his house spraying his exterior. I called Aptive and sure enough he said he treated my house despite the fact he did not treat my house and he did not treat the interior as was stated as required in the service order and he did not call ahead. Now I have to take more time off work to reschedule the third treatment AGAIN. The incompetence of this company is flat out appalling. They took my money for the first treatment and have yet to provide the service I required when I called them a month ago. While my basement continues to be infested with millipedes it is completely unlivable despite being a finished living basement. On top of that I started finding ants on my main floor. Whatever they use does not work. They do not abide by their what's required or requested in the service orders and it appears their plan is to just keep doing treatments till it's time to take more of your money. I would NOT recommend Aptive Environmental to anyone. Given a over a month they were not able to treat my millipede issue, where not able to get a simple wasps nest, and were not even able to prevent ants from coming into my home which is a now a problem I have since having their treatments. Look elsewhere unless you like giving away your money.

I previously had Alterra which was sold to Terminix and then started over as Aptive - which made a big difference to me. Their sales pitch is very standard about "neighbors" and a deal, etc. I was able to get grandfathered under my previous Alterra quarterly service price ($99) with initial treatment of $1. The sales guy wasn't pushy, rather calm and easy-going. Alterra addressed my needs very well previously and so far Aptive appears to be the same. They will come out as many times as needed for free between the quarterly treatments - which I've had done for various insects (sugar ants, house centipedes, spiders, wasps, etc) and even mice/chipmunks. Like any treatment, it has a limited lifespan and re-treatment is usually necessary. The service technician was prompt and efficient. Due to rain exterior treatment wasn't possible; however, I was able to call for a re-treatment to schedule the outside service quickly and without hassle.

Horrible -- do NOT hire this company. The have a slick looking website but the actual service is awful. First, it simply doesn't work. We did not notice any fewer bugs inside or outside of the home, and the claim about environmentally friendly chemicals is, simply, a lie. Google what they use and you'll find out. The "technicians" are rude, didn't clear even obvious cobwebs from around the home, and show up late. When you try to cancel, you get the usual run-around about cancellation fees and learn that the technician you were assigned was fired. No wonder. Too late. Don't fall for this company!
Description of Work: I should have checked Angie's List before hiring this company, which used an aggressive sales pitch claiming "a neighbor" had signed up. They sell contracts to use "environmentally friendly" chemicals to keep pests (bugs) from coming into your house, and removing cobwebs and other things from around home.

The initial sales pitch sounded good. We were about to have a birthday party and wanted the backyard to be free of any mosquitos or other pests. They treated the outside perimeter and laid a few glue traps in the garage. They said they would come back to treat some of the areas affected by carpenter bees, but never did. We had some other issues that needed re-treatment, but they weren't as responsive as advertised. After trying to contact them by email and phone countless times, with no response, we finally cancelled our contract. They charged us a premium to bail on the contract, even though they never delivered as promised. We never even received confirmation from them that our service was cancelled. Overall it felt like a fly-by-night operation. Beware.

Followup treatment was for the outside of my house resulting in bugs coming inside. I had to request inside service. I had a bill problem and it took over a week for someone to return my call. I let them know I did not want to continue service, but they automatically renewed it anyway. Had to call again to cancel for a second time.

A representative of this company, Jared, knocked on my door earlier this week in an attempt to get my business. He said that Aptive was servicing the homes of some of my neighbors (names I didn't recognize), and "since he was already in the neighborhood", could give me a great deal on a pest control contract. Incidentally, this type of "cold call" solicitation is not allowed in my neighborhood without a permit from our town office (said he was in the process of getting one). When I said that we were very happy with our current exterminator, he launched into a detailed explanation of why their services were superior to all others, showing me diagrams and price breakdowns on his iPad. When I declined again, he dropped the price in a further attempt to get me to go with them. He was quite aggressive and pushy, and made me very uncomfortable. When I said no thanks yet again, he said that he would stop by later in the afternoon, after I had a chance to read up on their services, to see if I had changed my mind (!) He never returned that day, but a different Aptive exployee knocked our the door this evening -- I didn't answer. I have since read numerous negative reviews of this company from other parts of the country, especially California and Florida.

The representative started out polite. When he told me what he was offering, and the service he offered, I politely told him that I already had a contract with another, well-reputed company (which also came from Angie's List). Most people might try once or twice, and then cut their losses and move on. He wanted to know more about my contract, then tried to upsell his company "that just happened to be in the area tomorrow". After two more attempts at upselling, I then told the rep that I don't buy any service that comes cold-knocking. I prefer to do my research and get back to them. He showed me Yellowpages.com, but nothing on reputable review sites (such as Angie's List)... After another few attempts on his part, I finally told him "I get you are trying to drum up business, but asking after being told no 6+ times pushes the limits". He finally got the message, and as he walked away, he said "have fun paying more". Between his pushiness and attitude, I would stay far away from this company.

The service was done with good customer service however the effectiveness of their pest control is sub-standard. Ant hills and spiders never abated and appeared to increase. We've seen millipedes and beetles. The service covers the house and yard, but neither is effective. The only effective pest control they utilized was glue traps on the ground. I would not recommend their use. As for billing, they sign you up for a discounted initial service that would cost $230 or so, but charge you $100. The quarterly rates were $125 but if you discontinue service they charge you for the discounted initial service. If the initial service doesn't work, you should discontinue immediately because your throwing away the quarterly fee as it won't work either.
Description of Work: The company had a walk around sales lady using the old tactic of "we're in the neighborhood and have a deal". I reviewed the material and signed up for the service; an initial service followed by quarterly service for year round pest control. The work was for ants, spiders, and other insects.
