 + -1 moreMy Liftmaster garage wall-mounted unit (Model 885LM) wasn't working, so I called American Joe for repair services. They installed it 5 years ago. He figured out what I needed by my description, which is that the 3V (button-cell) battery (CR2032) was out of commission. These batteries usually run out of juice in 3 years. I'm not handy, but he explained how to properly remove the wall unit and to change out the battery. He immediately answered my call right after finishing up another job. Communicative and friendly was his tone and effective was his guidance. He did not need to come out, but he could have played it another way. I don't know him, but he seems like a stand-up guy. Great to work with. I recommend him highly.

 + -1 moreA spring on one of my doors snapped on Sunday. Joe had serviced my doors a number of years ago so figured I see if he was still in the business. Texted the number on the old business card I had and got a response back in about 10 minutes, on a Sunday! After a few texts and photos he gave me a quote. Steve showed up today (Monday) within the window advised. Installed springs on both doors and adjusted them. Both work much smoother than they did previously. You need garage door service, call Joe.

 + -1 moreJoe was here for less than 15 min. Sprayed the roller and track and diod little else.He tried to sell me new lifetime rollers for $175. He never checked the downward pressure or springs. I could have done the same work for less then $10. It was NOT worth $59.

He recommended that the second spring be replaced and that strengthening brackets be added to both doors. but did not have a second with him. He returned several days later and, for an additional $125.00, replaced the second spring and added two strengthening brackets.

 + -1 moreThe price for the repairs was higher than expected. Work took less than 1/2 hour and parts couldn't have been much, but I was already on the hook from of the tune-up i purchased. Was not very neat when spraying rail and hinges. Lubricant ran down the door and got all over the floor and was not cleaned up. Light bulbs were not replaced, this should have been included in the tune-up price since not much was done for the tune-up

His price was lower than a company that failed to show up twice. I strongly recommend his services to anyone thinking of getting workd one on their garage door.

 + -1 moreWe had an older garage door opener with direct drive and internal springs that died. We had replaced the garage door opener but left the spring system. The internal springs broke and the door could not be opened. I called American Joe, based on their Angie's list reviews. They were on another call in the area and came over 1 1/2 hours after my call, removed our old system and installed a new spring system in about an hour and at a reasonable price. They cleaned up and removed all the old components. The price quoted was exactly what they charged. Highly recommended.

 + -1 moreOld garage door (wooden) was starting to show its age. Since Joe lived fairly close to us and was offering a deal, we decided to purchase. He came out and was very knowledgeable and showed us our options. We could have paid more and upgraded, but we decided to go with a standard steel door that looked like our old one. We opted for windows instead of insulation so the price remained the same. Joe came a couple of weeks later (could have come earlier, but was not convenient for us) and removed the old door (hauled away) and installed the new door as well as motion sensors my husband had never installed. It took him and his co-worker less than two hours to complete. He told us if we had any problems to call him. He works quickly and efficiently. We would highly recommend him.

 + -1 moreJoe showed up right on time, in fact a few minutes early. He said the problem was a part that had worn out. The part and it's installation was an additional $90. We also had him tune up our second door for an additional $35. All in all it was an excellent expereince. On time, fair price, and Joe was respectful of my wife who was home for the repair.
Description of Work: Needed one of our two garage doors fixed. It looked like the chain came loose since it was drooping. Looked for a "Big Deal' that would cover it and found Joe's. Purchased the deal, called Joe, and made an appointment for the next day. He suspected the problem and noted that there would be additional charges over and above the deal which was for a tune up only.

Description of Work: My garage doors were 40 years old, and I recently broke one of the doors. I called 3 companies, and I could tell from Joe's voice and customer service approach that I would like working with him. He was available to look at my doors that same day, and he arrived on time. He fixed the broken door in about 3 minutes using muscles, a crowbar and power screw driver. I knew I would need new doors to at some point, so I decided to have Joe and and his worker, Chris, install new insulated doors a few days later. He arrived on time, did the work quickly and perfectly. I like his ability and his customer service attitude. I'm very happy.

Description of Work: Joe installed a garage door opener for me which I'd purchased at Home Depot. I first called him in early February and told him about the problem I was having with my garage door opener. He went through a couple of questions with me, and then said he could come out on a SUNDAY. He clearly told me the price of a service call if I did not have him perform any work. He arrived on time, and checked out the unit. The circuit board was the likely culprit, and he told me the price to purchase and install a new one. However, I decided to replace the whole unit since the old one was over ten years old and who knows when the mechanical parts would fail. We set up a date and time during the week for him to come. His old truck, (which he replaced within the last week, hooray!) broke down, and he really sounded upset when he called to reschedule the appointment. He gave me plenty of notice. Today was the next time it was convenient for me to have him do the installation. He called the night before to confirm the time, and he was very prompt. When he was done with the install, he lubricated both of my garage doors and performed a basic inspection at no additional charge.

He came as scheduled, with a helper, and they did the whole job in less than 45 minutes. Joe took away with him the old garage door opener and the boxes, etc. The new garage door opener has worked perfectly ever since the installation.

He did not try to sell me a new door or opener, just fixed what was needed for a reasonable price. I am glad I found him; I asked him for estimates for other home repairs that I need to have done. Recommend him highly, he and his assistant Chris were polite, professional, very competent and friendly.
Description of Work: Garage door would not open; major spring had broken, rollers needed to be replaced. Joe came and fixed it in three hours from when I called.

Description of Work: American Joe Repair Service performed a general repair on my automatic garage door. The motor part had come loose from the ceiling and fallen onto the floor. He fixed it and with stronger materials than used previously to guarantee it would not come out again. American Joe Repair answered my initial call promptly and arrangements were made to perform the service. He was persistent in following up to confirm the appointment as well. When he arrived, he had all the tools needed to make the repair, was efficient, professional, and it was obvious he knew exactly what he was doing. He didn't even mind me standing there the whole time watching him work! I had questions for him as well that he didn;'t mind answering at all. He even performed additional work to make sure the garage door was working properly and safely.

 + -1 moreThe work went very well and very quickly. No sooner had I purchased the service did I hear from Joe about scheduling the service. He arrived on time and was extremely competent and professional. He had the part I needed and repaired the drive motor assembly in under a half hour. The door works great now. In fact, Joe came by again yesterday to make an adjustment to the distance the door rides off the garage floor. All in all, I would describe the service as very professional, timely and of high quality and great value. i would recommend these folks to anyone without hesitation.

 + -1 moreJoe replaced a rotting wood garage door for me with a new 3-layer insulated steel door with new tracks, rollers, springs and cables. He came out and worked quickly and thoroughly. He did an excellent job, and even made some repairs and adjustments to the existing hardware. He added additional bracing to a new Clopay-brand door in a known weak-spot. I highly recommend him for garage door work. You can be sure he will do it right. (Price is N/A because the job was bid through a 3rd party, but Joe did the work.)

 + -1 moreMy garage door opener chain came off.. The chain wheel on top of the garage door opener machine snapped off. it needed a new gear box.. Joe came out on that day promptly at 07:30 and promptly replaced the gear box. I asked him about the garage door not opening all the way up when it wasn't attached to the chain.. he immediately assessed it was the spring.. He tightened it and showed me how the garage door now stayed fully open when not attached to the chain. I wrote him a check and he was on his way... Great service.. no selling me an entirely new garage door opener... it just needed a new gear box...
