Carl (Sun-tastic) did a fantastic job on my deck. Carl demolished an old deck and replaced with a new one and performed minor modifications/repairs to a screen porch that the big firms would probably not want to deal with. He/Charlene were highly responsive and customer-service oriented. The work started on time and was performed on time. They did their best to avoid damaging plants and the lawn which is always a challenge with construction projects like decks. I would highly recommend Sun-tastic.

Our 15 yr old wood deck was in bad shape. I was hoping to just replace a few boards and seal coat all of it with a company I had heard called and quot;Deck Helmetand quot;. This company promised a and quot;new looking deckand quot; for a fraction of the cost. I decided to get an estimate for replacement of the boards just to compare. When Suntastic came out their estimate was not much more than what Deck Helmet was going to charge me and I would still have most of my existing boards. In their estimation, and we agreed, it was far better to have new wood and then seal with a good stain. Their crew was courteous, very hard working, and efficient. Entire project took less than 4 days. I especially like how they trimmed the top rails. We waited a season and stained the deck using another great local company and I now have the two-toned deck I always wanted for a fraction of the cost of replacement. I am thankful for the great advice they gave and for saving me from a poor decision with Deck Helmet.

While selling our home in April 2013, the inspection of our home indicated that our deck was not to code. We immediately called Sun-Tastic and spoke to Charlene. We knew that Karl had pulled permits for the deck 11 years ago. Karl came out to the house the next day, inspected the deck himself and assured us that the deck was to code and that the home inspector was mistaken. Our realtor could not locate a copy of the permit in Fairfax County records and we called Sun-Tastic back. That put Charlene into immediate action and she located the copy of the permit indicating that the deck was definitely built to code and the buyers were satisfied. Both Karl and Charlene went beyond the call of duty 11 years after building our deck. Their actions are a mark of their integrity and pride in the work of Sun-Tastic. These two qualities are often in short supply these days. We want people to know what special people the Unterkofler's are and how they stand behind the work they do--no matter how much time has passed. They and their company stand out in Northern Virginia!

Got 3 bids and they were all close. Felt like Suntastic brought the most into the design based on their experience. He also wanted to help keep costs down where we actually decided to upgrade since we were making the investment into our home but appreciated their ideas.
