Initial deck construction went well. However we paid him in full before getting final inspection from Arlington County. Well year later this has never been completed. Also just within the last years multiple Trex boards have began to warp up. I have attempted to contact him several times with phone calls and text. He does not respond. It looks like most recent reviews are poor and his website is shut down.

Pat's company is certified to install Trex, but they do not install it correctly. Instead of using a Trex-approved clip system, they use a nail gun to tack down the boards from the side. Yes, it does do damage to the Trex product. Obviously this saves him a great deal of time and money, however, they are voiding the Trex warranty by installing it that way. There were other major problems with his work, but if you're wondering why he beats his competition on price, this is a significant contributing factor. As others have written, he can get belligerent, he'll berate you and threaten legal action.

Pat's crew was great, and as far as we can tell they did great work. A year later, there have been no problems. The materials and workmanship are first rate. That's why I'm rating them a D. Problems arose when I asked for copies of the county permits. It turns out that Pat applied for permits but was denied. But then he went and built the deck anyways. Now we have to run through the process with the county of applying for permits ourselves so we can get an inspection after the fact. So, needless to say, not a great experience.

Started job in 11/2014 and didn't get the building permit finalized until 8/2015. Had to turn my own home in for code violation. Needless to say I had to contact Pat a lot over that time span- response times varied but got worse over time. My last text to him inquiring about the downspout repair he owed me was met with a respond calling me a f**k head and that I was antagonizing him because he didn't control the schedule of the subcontractor. Clearly I have more to say here... And the above description does not fully capture my suffering over the 11/14-8/15 period.

Absolutely do not use this contractor! I did plenty of due diligence, and by all outward appearances, you will believe you are getting good value. However, I had endless problems with their construction and major and un-repairable issues across the board with my deck. Even his own employees informed me that he has a lot of customer complaints and bullies his way through to get what he wants. Wish I had known his careless reputation in advance.

I’ve always been very satisfied with his work. He and his crew do great work, they are very professional, the work is done in a timely manner and he’s always upfront about pricing. I believe his pricing is very competitive, I've always gotten more than one estimate for my projects and he’s always fair. He has always gone the extra mile to make sure I’m happy! I highly recommend Pat Gallagher Contracting.

We really like the change. They did what they said they would do for the price they said it would be.

I had several Angie's List contractors out to get pricing and discuss options for a new deck. I called Pat because a client of mine used him and highly recommended his company. Pat was the first one to come out and gave me a drawing and pricing for what I thought I wanted at the time. He was patient with me over the next couple of weeks as I made the plans larger and different than the original quote. Pat followed up weekly while I was interviewing others, changed the design and product line a few times, and got me new pricing each time. I ended up using him because he was most receptive to my input, really listened to what I wanted and didn't try and push me into something I didn't want. Once we signed a contract with Pat and paid the first payment he got the building permit in a couple of days. His guys were supposed to be at the house on Saturday but the weather was bad so, surprisingly, they showed up on Sunday to tear down the old deck. The tear down was done very quickly and they would have completed the entire thing that day if DirecTV had been out to remove the dish from the deck. The guys worked quickly and efficiently during the build. They got to the house on time each day and did what they had to do to get the deck complete. The foreman was friendly and didn't mind our stupid questions. The inspections were done and everything was cleaned up in less than the 2 weeks he said it would take to complete. I liked his work so much I had him come back and get me a quote to replace the wool rails and posts on my front porch with vinyl. I had him do that in March and it finally looks the way I have wanted it to!

He was efficient. He has a very nice team on workers. They cleaned up very well after themselves. There was no waste, which I was very impressed with. There was good planning and measuring throughout. They were also very quick and personable.

He won't return my phone calls. I gave him lots of referrals, and I can't believe he won't even call me back. I wouldn't hire him again if he can't even call.
