+ -1 moreUPDATE (06/25/2010) This is an update to my other report. The company at the end of April 2010, suddenly and without notice went to once per week trash pick up. Since that time, May 5th, they have been out to get our trash only 3 times, and those were not on the day they had said, Wednesday; the last time was 3 weeks ago. I have had to go to another company for this service. New Vision did cash my check for the quarter, June, July and August but I have gotten service only ONE time in June for that money. I have tried to call several times and can never talk to a real person. IF I can get thru it is to a voice mail box. Many times the message says that the voice mail box is full and to please try your call again later. We sent them a fax about this but as before, NO RESPONSE. The few times I have been able to get thru and leave a message, no one ever returns my call. At this point I cannot even get thru to them to tell them that we have terminated the service. THIS COMPANY IS TERRIBLE TO DEAL WITH! I CANNOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE; ACTUALLY I RECOMMEND YOU FIND ANOTHER COMPANY FOR THIS SERVICE.
Description of Work: (05/10/2010) Contracted trash pick up Comments: (05/10/2010) We signed a contract with New Vision Trash (NVT) for service twice weekly, Mondays and Thursdays, beginning on August 13, 2009. It took several weeks to get a trash can from them (they said they had an overwhelming response form their soliciting in the SO MD area and could not keep up with the demand) but they did pick up the trash as agreed to in our contract until the end of April 2010. Then we did not get our trash picked up on Mondays. There was NO notice from this company of any change to the contract agreed on days for pick up. We tried to call them but NO ONE answered the phone at the company telephone numbers. A recorded message asked for people to leave their name and number but the next message was that the voicemail box was full please try your call again later. This went on for 2 weeks. Then the message on the company number changed to state that they were going to once a week pick up and listed the areas and days of service. On May 5th, our trash was picked up and a letter from the company was folded and placed on the trash can with the lid holding it in place. I did take a picture of this. In the letter the owner states that because of non-paying customers the service had to be changed to once a week and that recycling would no longer be accepted. Neighbors and friends who had paid extra for the recycling saw that the trash people threw everything in the same truck together; recycle items were not separated from regular trash. This is a breach of the contract which states that for one year there would be twice weekly pick up and that the price was $66 per quarter. We will now be getting half the service that we agreed to pay for. Plus when we agreed to the contract the sales person, Corey Marsh said that they would also pick up appliances and there would be no charge but that we would need to let them know in advance so they could make arrangements to get it. When I called in for an air conditioner unit to be picked up I was told that it would be $100 to have it removed. In the middle of all this, they did manage to have NEW WEBSITE uploaded. I CANNOT recommend this company to anyone. Severe lack of communication between the company and the customers makes for a very unhappy situation with possibility of detrimental health issues from uncollected trash waiting for pickup in the heat. I did send a registered return receipt letter to the owner and I have not had a reply.

+ -1 moreI have been a customer of New Vision for almost three years. I pay extra to have my trash picked up near the garage rather than at the curb. For the first year and a half, their service was excellent. My pick-up day was Saturday, and they almost never missed a pickup. Then they eliminated Saturday pick up and changed my day to Wednesday. Then their service became sporadic. For the past few months, service is almost non-existent. They did not pick up my trash at all in the month of April, so I had to keep hauling my trash to a transfer station. Each week I called all the phone numbers which they had published, but their voice mail box was always full. I sent e-mails, but they did not respond. In early May, I finally called the County of Fairfax who sent out an inspector to my home. He informed me that trash companies are obligated to pick up trash at least once a week or be fined. The inspector was able to reach the owner of the company on the phone and instructed him that he had to pick up my trash. The inspector told me that the company was being restructured and that the new drivers did not know the routes. That evening, someone came and picked up my trash. Service resumed for the month of May, but last week (June 16) my trash was not picked up. I called the company and left a message, and the trash was picked up the following day. Today is trash day again. As of 6 p.m. tonight, my trash has not been picked up. I have called the phone number listed on the trash pail; it has been disconnected. I have called the phone number listed on the new bill they sent me; the mail box is full. I have prepaid for service through June 30. I will not be renewing my service with New Vision.
Description of Work: Once a week trash and recycling pick up at the garage with a small quiet truck called an "Alleycat."

+ -1 moreI have the pick up at my garage rather then on the street service which is more expensive. I pay them on a monthly basis. Since I last reported on their service I have observed them on my property in violation of several county regulations and EPA rules such as operating without a license, mishandling recyclable materials and mishandling of hazmat materials. They have been in violation to the point that the county solid waste enforcement team was staked out at my home to catch them in the act. They have been around for some time so they are experienced, but they clearly do not train their people. They leave paper trails all over the neighborhood. They do not respond. I have called and left messages, sent emails and I never get an answer. They do show up on time for the service and they are reasonably priced. I plan to change to another carrier as soon as I can find one that will pick up at my garage.
Description of Work: New Vision Trash & Disposal Services LLC handles my garbage and recyclable collection.

+ -1 moreAwful experience. New Vision is great at collecting your money...that's about it. We were told we would receive trash and recycling bins within 10 days of our starting service. Two weeks later, we called to ask where they were and were told we'd have to wait another 10 days. ANOTHER two weeks went by without receiving bins. Again, we were told we'd have to wait another 10 days. Meanwhile, we received a bill from New Vision for 4 months of service (which we paid). After 6 weeks and still no bins, we canceled service and requested a refund. The refund was never issued even after multiple direct requests (we were always told it was coming...just like our bins). We filed a complaint with BBB (we aren't the only ones to do so...check their record with BBB). BBB's queries with New Vision went unanswered. To make matters even worse, we continued to receive bills from New Vision even though we hadn't been customers for months.
Description of Work: Simple residential trash and recycling collection services. We signed up with New Vision due to 1) price, and 2) dissatisfaction with our previous service (which will be written up separately).

+ -1 moreThe service has been variable, and in many ways unsatisfactory. In many cases, the company violates county ordinances for handling of trash and recycle materials. We have found that the drivers don't take care to keep trash from leaving the truck, making a walk to collect lost trash a weekly event. Their compactor truck leaks hydraulic fluid on the driveway, and the drivers frequently mix recycles with trash. The company is unresponsive to calls and requests for service. Collections are sometimes missed.
Description of Work: New Vision was offered to our neighborhood as an alternative to AAA, which had become unreliable, unresponsive and expensive. New Vision offers features that were an improvement, including pickup next to your house (rather than having to haul trash to the street). The company also picks up large and unusual items and will accept a wider variety of recycleable items than is required by the county.

+ -1 moreWe have been extremely satisfied with the reasonable rates and reliable service provided by NSI.
Description of Work: We hired a disposal company in Northern Virginia almost 8 years ago. They "owned" the disposal business in our area of Northern Virginia and provided substandard service, so when NSI left a flier in our mailbox, I decided to hire them. They have exceeded my expectations by showing up on time or early, neatly placing the trash bins back, and charging $11.00 less per month of service. Also, Mr. Wright, owner of the company, takes every opportunity to improve his service and communicate with his customers via regular mailings. He constantly searches for innovative ways to improve the trash/disposal business. We're moving to Richmond (unfortunately out of his territory), and have to cancel our service, but I wanted to reach out to potential customers in the Northern Virginia area and let them know that an alternative to AAA exists, try NSI.
