On time, very professional and extremely helpful! My friend stood me up so I had to .do everything myself. Those guys took over, set everything up and did a better job than I would have. I really appreciated it because I'm handicapped and was in a lot of pain that day. The supervisor Jim was extremely professional and trustworthy and always available for questions. Truly a 1st class experience!

I was conducing an in-town move, with both locations about 1 mile apart. I was mainly looking just to have the heavy furniture moved, while I moved the smaller items (clothes, kitchen stuff, etc) myself. I contacted three companies for an estimate, per usual. I wasn't sure what to expect given COVID-19 issues, but most handled it either through a video chat or me providing a detailed description of what I had. I'm not sure if this was just because of the pandemic, or if that is how companies do it now...but I figured I'd add that detail. Carmack and one other Angie's List provider were pretty close in cost comparison and reviews. I had a better gut with Carmack, so went ahead with them. Communication through the process was great, and Jim was able to answer any questions I had. I did purchase the extra insurance - even though the move was so close, I didn't want to have to gamble on major damage. The moving crew showed up promptly the morning of the move. They took very good care to wrap the furniture as they moved, and were extremely careful about the walls, floors, and railings. I was very happy with that, because I was leaving a rental unit and didn't want to risk my security deposit! The crew was very nice and polite. They asked questions if they wanted to know how they should handle something. They also wanted to make sure I had visibility on anything that already had damage/scratches, which I was fine with. In most cases I pointed it out pre-damaged items anyway. When they packed up the rental, there were just a couple VERY minimal dents in one of the stairwells, because I had some pretty difficult furniture for a curving staircase. They were well prepared and repaired the dents in no time. I told them I'd paint, since I had the paint on hand anyway. When we got to the new place, they were great with moving things where they needed to go, and set everything up. They removed a couple doors to ensure they had proper clearance, and put them back at the end. It was easier moving into the new place than moving out of the old one! Here too, the crew was respectful and careful not to damage anything. They were very personable and pleasant guys, and I'm happy to have worked with them! The finished in the amount of time estimated too, which was impressive. This was my first interaction with a moving company that seemed to take the level of care with your furniture as you would yourself. I'd definitely use them again, and recommend to others! The cost of the job does not include the extra ~$300 I paid for the additional insurance coverage, since that was an optional upgrade.

I received their number, called them and within 2 hours they were here and moved my safe. Their price was half of that of another company I contacted who could not move the safe for several days.

I’m a little delayed with my recommendation but have only positive feedback to give. We worked with Debbie who was more than understanding about our concerns hiring a mover for a move more than ½ way across the country. Her estimate was great - we paid exactly what she said we would. Our moving crews both loading (Ernesto and Orlin) and unloading (Demond) were careful with our furniture and other household items, treating our things as if they were their own. Moving is stressful and moving across country even more so. Carmack did a fantastic job. I highly recommend them and will use them again when I move back to the East Coast!!

Very fair pricing, and no issues whatsoever with our cross-country move. Packers and movers were on time for every step. Plus the responsiveness for questions/updates is worlds better than larger operations (we moved with a national carrier before this). You should absolutely go with Carmack if they are available for your moving dates.

My experience with Carmack was great from my initial meeting with Debbie to the delivery of my goods in Michigan. The actual weight of the shipment was in line with the estimate which is very important in planning your moving budget. Watch out for companies who give you a lower weight estimate to try to earn your business. Debbie is wonderful! Her level of communication is beyond expectations! My kitchen and other breakables were packed very professionally and stored for several weeks. Thankfully I experienced only minimal damage. A coffee table top and a lamp were broken. I’ve unpacked everything that was packed by Carmack except one large piece of artwork. The crew on both legs of the trip were friendly, efficient and amazing to watch. I was very concerned about avoiding damage to my new home, especially because it is new construction and I moved in January. The guys left one person in the house so they didn’t track up. The Ops Mgr, Rob was very helpful in allowing me to meet the truck after it was loaded and had left my home because I forgot to have a big leaf for my dining room table loaded. While he was not obligated to do so because I signed the paperwork stating that everything was loaded, he helped me out and I truly appreciate it! Moving is always stressful but Carmack made it so much better! I would definitely recommend this company and use them again.

Carmack did a fantastic job. They were on time, professional, and incredibly efficient. We were done start to finish in two hours, and everything arrived in perfect condition. I would highly recommend Carmack!

From beginning to end, Carmack was professional, quick, and easy to work with. Debbie quoted a very, very competitive price compared to the other moving companies we had checked with and the hours she quoted was spot on. The movers (Ernesto and Orlin) themselves were fantastic. They moved everything quickly and without delay. We would recommend Carmack in a heartbeat to anyone who needs moving services.

It was wonderful from start to finish! Debbie was able to provide me with a spot on quote just from speaking on the phone and her rates were very reasonable-- no extra fee for moving on a Saturday! The movers themselves were INCREDIBLE! I cannot believe how quickly they worked! A lot of our furniture I wouldn't have deemed worthy of being wrapped and treated with TLC, but they took careful care of every single piece they moved. They were able to handle picking up items from two different locations and loading it all onto one truck to save us a trip and finished unloading and setting everything in the correct room at the new house in absolute record time. We came in under budget not just relative to what Debbie quoted us, but also relative to what I would have expected to spend on movers of this quality. I can't say enough good things and would recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking to move!

Carmack’s staff and service was amazing! Debbie made the start of the process - the quote through scheduling - truly seamless and relatively stress-free. The staff sent to pack up my home were personable, quick and efficient. Finally, the gentleman who moved my items to my new city and into my home was also so patient with unloading in a busy location and highly professional. Thank you, Carmack!

Overall, move went fine. Job took about 8 hours. A glass pane in my china hutch was broken upon loading. It was replaced within 3 days of the move. The lead mover thought himself funny; he was not, but work was completed satisfactorily.

Carmack did an excellent job. All of our belongings arrived in good condition during the promised time frame.

Everything was great. Movers were on time, professional and the final price was what was quoted. I have had movers jack up the price when they had my goods in their possession, I have had them drink the beer out my refrigerator WHILE they were moving my stuff...but these guys were great and I will use them again if/when I move next; it's nice to be able to trust the movers. it's nice to be able to trust your movers. And Debbie at the office was great to deal with on the phone. Extremely efficient and friendly and with a great sense of humor. She was great with follow-ups and in making sure my bill was correct. My husband found Carmack on Angie's List, and they were highly rated. He called in and spoke to a lovely lady who gave us a quote right over the phone. We decide to go with them based on their pricing and reviews. Couldn't be happier! The crew showed up right on time- within a minute of when they said they would(!), were polite, and personable. They completed the job with efficiency, and in the exact time window that the lady in the office estimated. Would use them again in a heartbeat!

(As a follow up to our previous review, including some duplicate language, here is another review after the move to Florida was completed.) The service was fantastic. The packers arrived on time and finished packing our belongings within 4 hours. The next morning, the furniture and boxes were loaded onto the trucks without a hitch. All the while, the packers and movers took great care of our belongings and of the walls, carpet, and hardwood floors in our house. Our move was from Virginia to Florida, and Carmack worked closely with us to schedule the delivery within a very tight window. Debbie did a wonderful job coordinating the Operations department, and the driver kept us informed of his estimated arrival time. It was a very pleasant experience working with all of the Carmack staff, and I highly recommend them.

This company ticks all the boxes - they are professional, courteous, responsive, fairly priced, and do quality work. From start to finish my experience with Carmack was completely positive. I used their website to request a quote and was quickly contacted by Debbie. She was knowledgeable, made a surprisingly spot on guess of the weight of my items, explained my options, quoted me prices, gave me a delivery window, and had paperwork drawn up in very short order utilizing DocuSign so it was quick and easy. As the pickup date approached, Carmack sent a great reminder of what to expect along with a contact's name and cell phone number who would be available 24/7 to answer any questions/concerns. I called once and again the contact (Rob) was quickly responsive. Morning of the pickup I get a call from Kirk, who was overseeing the crew on site, that they would meet me at the storage facility between 8:30 and 8:45 AM. They were coming from Virginia to a facility in Rockville, MD. I arrived at 8:35 and they were already there waiting for me. Kirk was also extremely professional, courteous, knowledgeable and clearly knew what he was doing. The crew in Rockville was great, all very professional and extremely careful with my belongings. Delivery to my new home in Vermont was December 23rd, 2018. Carmack hired a local crew of three for the delivery. One of the locals arrived early to check out my location and assist the truck when it arrived. Kirk arrived with the truck shortly thereafter (8AM-ish). They proceeded to prep my house for the move, laying down protective rugs and plastic, removing doors for easier access, and doing a walkthrough to learn where rooms were located. The two other local crew members arrived at 9am. The next two hours consisted of the crew bringing in my belongings and delivering them to the rooms I directed them to. The whole crew was great, positive attitudes, extremely cautious with my belongings and my home, and it took all of two hours. They also did me the courtesy of laying the larger pieces on their sides so I could dust the cobwebs from underneath, before setting them upright. Two crew members left, Kirk and the third member stayed one more hour to clean up their rugs, assemble a couple of pieces of furniture, replace doors, make sure I was happy, etc. They even went the extra step of moving some boxes for me which were NOT part of the delivery. They consistently went above and beyond. They made what I thought would be an incredibly stressful process, simple, easy, and stress free. I cannot recommend Carmack Moving & Storage highly enough. TL;DR: Professional, knowledgeable, careful, responsive, reasonably priced - and they *GET* how it feels to give all your worldly belongings to strangers. Hire them.

It's not often that you get to use a moving service twice in the span of a couple of weeks. But we had to move our stuff to the basement of a new house, wait for work to complete, and then get it moved out of the basement to the finished home. For the first move from the old house to the basement of the new house, Ernesto and his crew showed up in a truck a little early and got to work. All our stuff was loaded into the truck and rolling in about 4 hours, and that included lots of very heavy and bulky items like exercise bikes. There was no damage at all to any part of the old home. After a lunch break, the truck rolled to the new house and the crew unloaded everything into the basement and storage areas. Agin, they went above and beyond, as the landscaping was not finished and they had to haul stuff through muddy topsoil to the basement door. Today, Ernesto and a smaller crew showed up again to move everything int the rest of the finished house. It took just 5 hours, including putting a bed back together from its pieces. No damage to the hardwood floors, marble bathrooms, etc. And on top of everything else, their prices beat all but small, uninsured movers. I cannot recommend them strongly enough. Great price, great service, great value.

Since I am a novice at moving, we felt the move went very good. Carmack staff was very helpful, understanding, and professional. I commend Debbie and Kirk for all their advice and assistance in making this process smooth and much uneventful. They worked well with scheduling and were prompt with delivery. Almost everything arrived safely. I was missing a rug, a gouge in the trim of the desk, and some furniture scratches. All in all, we felt it was a great job was done. We felt the cost was acceptable and, fortunately for us, our move was in the off season.

Using Angie's List and researching movers, we finally decided on Carmack Moving and Storage in June 2017 for our cross-country move. Founder Rob Carmack impressed us with his many years' experience and expertise--as well as his affable personality. The enthusiastic reviews of Carmack further gave us confidence that they could do the job. We did most of the packing but left dishes, delicate items, and framed pictures to the Carmack crew, who packed those items and then hauled everything to a weigh station (almost 10,000 pounds) and then stored it all at Carmack's Sterling warehouse. This was mid-August. We putting our McLean home on the market in September and selling it within a couple of months. Unfortunately it didn't go on the market until October and sold only in February and thus we wound up paying $540/month storage for 8 months rather than two. Once our home finally sold, we bought a home here in northern California and contacted Rob about bringing our things out of storage. We waited until we closed on April 12 to do so, and our belongings (almost 10,000 lbs) were delivered to Walnut Creek, CA, on May 12. The driver Demond and his crew were professional, helpful, and pleasant, which was also our experience in McLean with driver Kirk and his crew there. Throughout our months of working with the Carmack office, Sharon and Starla were fabulous and Rob was available to speak by cell phone whenever we needed him. As mentioned above Carmack's Virginia crew packed our delicate, breakable items, including valued clay pieces and valuable glass framed pictures, and two glass-framed photo collages. The thin glass on those two collages broke in transit. But they were cheap and we don't fault Carmack for that.In fact, this is a heads-up to others who have such collages. On the other hand we had a 14-inch high ceramic sculpture that had once broken into a dozen pieces and been glued back together. Carmack crew wrapped and packed it well and it arrived intact.

It went great. I called the company expecting I needed a larger package deal, and was told that the men were used to hauling large objects, and it wasn't going to require as many men or as much time as I thought to transport the furniture for a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home. After pointing me to a lower priced option that would meet my needs, I payed the deal price, which was around $800 to have four men for two hours. Sure enough, they showed up, quickly and efficiently removed the furniture from my apartment in under an hour, and then quickly and efficiently, and with care, moved it into my new home, placing it where I liked. This was a wonderful service, and honestly the best and easiest part of the moving experience. I would definitely recommend this company and hire them again.

As a former military family we've had our share of moves. This last one was, hands down, the best. Debbie is a superstar, highly responsive, personable, and her estimate was nearly perfect. This is the first time I've ever had the same crew pack and then move; it made a difference. They happily used boxes I already had, saving me a ton of $$. They also moved boxes I had packed without complaint. I can not say enough good things about them!
