This was the best moving experience I have ever had! It started well in the beginning with Mike coming out to the house and walking us through all the steps and estimating costs to the group that came out for pre-packing then the loading and unloading at our destination. Each step was handled seamlessly and in a most professional manner. The different employees we met on the way were pleasant, efficient and professional. Rob helped with the packing steps and the cross country driver were fantastic! They stayed in contact and let us know where our shipment was and they delivered it exactly as promised! Everything arrived safe and sound and in excellent shape. I highly recommend Carmack for any moving experience whether local or long distance!! Thanks to them for making this move worry free and a fabulous experience!!

Carmack's crew, lead by Celso was terrific! They arrived on time, took time to understand the move, what was particularly important and then got to work. Although the final cost was a bit more than the estimate, that was our doing. We needed more help packing than originally thought. Celso, Oscar, Tito, Alfredo, Pedro and Jose M., were courteous, hardworking and very professional. I wouldn?t hesitate to recommend Carmack. The entire process was very well handled starting with Bryce?s visit to estimate the cost and explain the process. The Bill Denny Group, realtors, recommendation of Carmack was spot-on! Thanks to you and that great crew. They went above and beyond to assure we were satisfied.

I called Car Mack movers at 4:30 p.m on a Tuesday, asking for their services the next day. Since it was such short notice, they told me they would call me back within the half hour. They managed to fit me into their schedule. The movers were on time, courteous and very professional. I am also using their storage facilities. This company was wonderful to work with, highly recommend them for your next move.

They came out, they gave us a price, so were pleased with that. They've been right on top of it. It?s more of a local company that goes across the country, and we like to support local companies. She came out, she looked, she was very good, she said if we had any questions ask. They were very good to get back to us. They've come out, and priced it out for us. She's easy to contact. She gets right back if we contact her. We're very pleased. She was very thorough. She also said since its a local company, it's not going to make multiple stops. That's how they're unique that way. It's more of a personalized move, you aren't just one of many stops. Very Professional.

This did not go well from the start of the move to the end. As a matter of fact it is still not going well. The men who arrived to do the packing were upset with the condo rules that didn't let them start until 9:00 AM. The driver stated that it was a pain in the a%$. They were very careless in the packing of our house. When the movers (the same guys) arrived the next day, they were surly and rude. They had a tight schedule and we just didn't fit in with it. We were assured that our furniture would arrive between the 3rd and 6th of August. This gave them a week to get the goods 350 miles. We finally received word on the 5th that the truck had broken down and they weren't sure when it would arrive. We were then told that someone would get back to us by 1:00 that afternoon. At 4:00 we called them only to be told that the only person who could help us was gone for the day. We were told that someone would look into it and get back to us by end of day. That didn't happen. We called again the next day and finally were told that the furniture would be there first thing in the morning. Two guys showed up and unloaded in a hurry. They brought in a couple of things that didn't belong to us and we sent them back out. They seemed upset at this. They tried putting my bed together without slats and argued that there were no slats for the bed. Until they were found on the truck. We found that they had completely dismantled our electric recliner and put it back together so sloppily that when we sat down later that night it wiggled. We eventually opened boxes and saw that artwork was just stuck in some with no paper to protect it. They took our Keurig apart and we found pieces in 3 different boxes. Eventually we found a box with items that were not ours and realized that some of our items were missing. I sent an e-mail and received one in return stating that they would arrange for shipping of the extra box that we received. They insisted that we somehow "missed" the large clothes hamper and shoe storage container that were missing. That was two weeks ago and the last we have heard from them. They also "underestimated" the cost and we had to come up more money the day of the move. We will never use them again and strongly urge others to do the same.

Just want to say that both myself and other family members have used Carmack's services four times over the past 20 years and they have been an absolute delight to deal with : ) A number of years ago, when we were moving my dad, who was almost 80 years old at the time and very nervous about moving, we used Carmack's services and the move was totally seamless : ) My dad was very pleased as was I : ) When searching for estimates from other movers, Debbie, who provides the estimates at Carmack's, was the most thorough and professional of all the people I spoke with from other moving companies. The estimate she provided was very accurate. Celso and his crew were wonderful! They were polite, considerate and respectful of our property and before they left, they asked if everything was to our satisfaction : ) I have recommended Carmack's to some of my friends who are planning a move in the next couple of months : ) Thank you Rob Carmack and your folks!!!!!

Great company to work with! We have our items being stored with them also.

As I was going through old paperwork, I saw our Carmack bill for moving to our current home. I remembered how wonderful they had been. Due to delays on the seller's part, we were moving in on the same day that they were moving out of four bedroom homes (a local move for both). Our crew had carefully loaded everything onto the truck and were parked outside of our new home, almost two hours before the seller's moving company was able to load their much less stuff onto their truck. Our superfast and friendly crew then unloaded in record time, in order to come as close to the estimate as possible. We didn't really mind the delay or slight additional expense (which obviously wasn't Carmack's fault), since it still saved us the cost of storage, which would have been much more. This was a tremendous customer experience, which I still remember 12 years later.

It went well. We had to go to closing after they packed the truck from Centreville. Closing took a lot longer than we expected so the guys and the truck had to sit out front the new house and wait for us. Once in, they moved up quickly and got everything done and set for us. There were a few damages that of course I didn't see until months later but over all it went well. Movers were professional and prompt. The sales guy was a little sketchy but overall good service.

I can't say enough good things about this company. I called the company on Friday thinking I would get a call by Monday to set something up in a week or so. But, I received a call back within an hour and was able to have movers out here on Sunday morning. I received a call when they were on their way and a 2nd call to find out if it was ok to show up a little early. They had to go up and down 5 flights of stairs at least 6 times and never nicked a wall. The two men were very professional and friendly and quite helpful. They were very efficient with their time. I highly recommend this company. This is a responsive company with a professional staff from the office to the movers. And their prices are reasonable.

Getting my house ready to put on the market, I needed to "de-clutter" a bit. I had my stuff already boxed up but I was pleased with the quality of service from Carmack in everything they did. Small furniture items were wrapped for protection; my heavy exercise biks was handled carefully, as was everything else, to protect them from any damage. They arrived on time, were professional and courteous the whole time, and worked quickly and efficiently in getting everything into my self-storage unit. When my house sells, I am moving temporarily into a short-term rental in another city so I plan on using them to empty out the rest of my belongings / furniture to put into storage and then when I am ready to buy a house I plan on using them to bring all of my belongings from the storage unit to my new location.

They were very good. We were very satisfied, and they were very helpful on both moves.

Everything went according to schedule. The estimator estimated about 50% less than the actual hours requires for the move. She became very defensive when we questioned her on the dicrepancy. However, when I spoke to management they were very cooperative and made an adjustment on the charge.

Since we did the all the packing, we saved a bit over $1000, and only bought the cardboard cartons from Carmack. I probably won't have the need to use them again, but I definitely would! They are family owned and a great moving company to work with.

The move went very well. Overall we were extremely happy with the crew and the experience. The crew was professional the entire 14 hours and I would recommend this company.

Great experience. I didn't realize we were moving on the busiest days of the year and was worried about even finding a company to move us that wasn't completely booked for that time. Paul, from Carmack, came over to give me an estimate. He was professional and knowledgeable about giving me a quote. He also gave me his cell number to call in case I had any questions. I used it twice, I think, and both times he was helpful. I called several times in between the estimate and move date to ask questions from the office. Each time I talked to a real person (no automated phone directory that gets you no where) and was given helpful answers quickly. On the move date we were surprised that about 8 guys showed up with the lead guy named Celso. Great group, and Celso was awesome. These guys didn't dawdle around and got all our stuff loaded in about 3 hours. Celso marked everything with a sticker and a paper that had the sticker numbers matched with each item. Nothing got lost on it's way here, and the only thing we have found broken (6 weeks after the move completed) was a $2 paint roller bucket. Even that was probably because we packed it wrong. Celso was easy to talk to and made us feel comfortable passing off ALL of our possessions to him. Our stuff was taken to a storage unit in Centerville for a few days while they coordinated getting our stuff down to us. They gave us a window from July 2-8 for our stuff to arrive. It came on Sat, July 6. Celso was there again with a crew of about 4-5 guys. They put all our stuff in the house, where we asked them to put it, in about 4 hours or so. They did a good job, what can I say! I would recommend this company and use them again myself!

When I originally worked with the movers in Springfield, Virginia, they told me that a wall would be erected between the two other family?s items to secure all my items from falling over into the next family?s items. Once I met the CARMACK truck in Charlotte, NC, I saw that there never was a permanent wall between my personal items and the others in the truck. They had only used 3 inch straps placed about 18 inches apart from the ceiling of the truck to the floor. Many of my boxes had fallen through the straps and crashed to the floor of the truck, since the middle family?s items had been delivered prior to my delivery. Since I did not have a home to move my personal belongings into, I had no choice but to use a storage unit. I have called Julia, the CARMACK Claims Analyst, and she reassured me she would work with me concerning all of the damage caused by the CARMACK movers who drove the truck. My shock came after I finally moved everything into my home, had sent a letter and pictures to CARMACK, and the reply letter I received from Julia stated, ?When a shipment is delivered to a Public Storage facility, the move is automatically released from any liability associated with said shipment.? Since I have been denied any reimbursement for all of my broken items that were damaged, many of them sentimental and many old, I needed to be sure I wrote this letter to report this moving company knowing they led me astray with their, ?We will work with you concerning your situation and your damaged goods.? They did not stand behind their claim to be honest and telling customer that they will work with you concerning their causing damage to personal property. They are not a reputable, nor trusting, or honest company and I would not want any other trusting family to go through what I have gone through.

A number of wood furniture pieces were dented and scratched. Two glass table tops were scratched. 2boxes and 2 lamps were missing. After many communications with office staff, the owner finally called me to settle on a satisfactory amount for the damages. I provided an itemized list with replacement prices and used the repair estimates from their furniture repair company, submitted the amount and Carmack agreed and satisfactorily issued a check for the amount.

The experience overall was very good. The three movers showed up on time and were very professional in how they handled our goods. They were very careful with our furniture - even the extremely heavy items. They were careful not to "ding" our walls at both our old and new residences. Previously, any time I called with questions, the move coordinator, Paul, was very responsive and was happy to answer my questions. The only down side to the whole experience is that the quote was low in erms of how much the move cost. The move was estimated as taking 5 hours and it actually took 7. Therefore we actually paid about $300 more than we though. That being said, they were still cheaper than two other quotes we got for the move. Just be advised that the travel charge is for the travel time to your original residence and from your future address. he time traveling int between jobs is added in to the time of the move. I'm not sure if this was explained during the estimate - it could have been more clearly explained. Overall, Carmack did an excellent job moving us.

Good service. My closing date slipped several times and Carmack was very responsive in helping to reschedule. The movers showed up on time, were very professional, and completed the move in the time and for the cost estimated. Closing on a house and moving can be a stressful process, but Carmack made the move part easy and stress free.

This was the second time we used Carmack to move. We chose them 5 years ago because we have a baby grand piano that needs to be moved. We priced them out, along with two other moving companies this time around. One of the companies came in about $200 lower than Carmack and when I informed them of this they agreed to meet that price in order to keep our business. The movers arrived on time, were very professional and friendly, and moved very quickly. At the end of the day the number of hours spent on our move (8 hours) was exactly what we were quoted, so there were no extra costs. I would definitely recommend Carmack to any of my friends and families who need a moving company.

I have always had excellent service from Carmack and, thus, I kept calling them first whenever I had to move my household. I also used the company to move furniture to my relatives in Maryland and New Hampshire. For my final move to Florida for my retirement, I decided to get several estimates. I found Carmack to be extremely reasonable, and since I knew the company, I decided to use them for my final move. They provided one team to pack my Virginia home; a second team to load the truck the next day; and a Florida team to unload the truck in my new location. The Operations Manager and his team leaders were extremely efficient and customer-oriented. I even requested in Virginia that two bronze urns be taken to my neighbor's home and the team willingly did this extra assignment without additional compensation. I was amazed with how quickly the truck was unloaded in Florida (only two hours). For one of the moves, a tree limb punctured a hole in the ceiling of the van causing some water damage (an act of nature that could not be avoided). I submitted a claim and was reimbursed in a timely way without any question regarding the loss. This company continues to always exceed my expectations. They also have a wonderful and responsive office staff. I am pleased to strongly recommend Carmack Moving & Storage for local and interstate moves. If I were moving again (heaven forbid), I would use Carmack!

When my wife and I purchased our new home we decided that we were going to go with a professional mover and not attempt a DIY move. After speaking with friends and neighbors about their experiences with moving companies we decided to call a few to get quotes. Of the three we called, Carmack moving responded the fastest. We had an accurate quote from them the next next day, which also turned out to be the least expensive. First thing the morning before our scheduled move, a team of Carmack employees showed up and began packing everything up. My wife and I were amazed at the meticulous way they carefully wrapped and packed every item. Everything was clearly labeled and organized as they were packed. (e.g. one box read: "Office - Lower Left Drawer") We had no trouble finding where things were later! Every cup, plate, glass, nick nac, and piece was individually wrapped and boxed. The pictures, paintings and TV's were carefully wrapped in paper, plastic and then bubble wrap. Not a single item was damaged in the move. The next morning, with everything packed, they showed up right on-time and began loading the truck. Their experience was clear as they perfectly fit the entire house into the truck before lunch. By 3pm that afternoon, everything had been unloaded and placed into the correct room. Some furniture had to be moved several times as my wife decided on the perfect location. Throughout the whole process the staff were extremely polite, professional and understanding of our needs. I normally do not write company reviews, however our experience with Carmack Moving was so great I felt the need to. We will definitely be using them on our next move.

Carmack Moving was recommended to us by our realtor. They're too expensive. They gave us a quote and swore they've never gone over a quote. They went over by 50%. They damaged so much stuff, furniture and nick nacks. They lost so much stuff, numerous stuff, mugs and china. We even had to call the owner at 3:00 because they wanted to quit because it was going to get dark and they told us it would be a one day move. It actually took three days. We purchased the highest insurance and they pocketed it. When we filed our claim it took three months almost for them even to respond. And the guy that owns the company wanted to come out and do the work himself. And all of the stuff we tried to claim on we couldn't do because they didn't purchase the coverage.
