Overall experience was very good and I am very happy with their service
Description of Work: I was having problem with my Samsung dryer, it suddenly stopped working. I call Appliances Pro for repair, tech came at my home at scheduled time, he diagnosed the problem and told me everything before he started the repair. Highly skilled, he knew what he was doing very calm and polite and of course I paid much more less then others quoted me. Will definitely use them if have problem with my appliance and would recommend them to all my family and friends.

Initially Nick diagnosed and showed me a leaking motor. Said it needed to be replaced and I agreed since a replacement dishwasher would require expensive plumbing modifications. Red flag #1 they asked for advance payment, I refused and told them I would only pay $50 for the initial service call. Nick said they would come back that evening with the new motor, actually a younger guy arrived the next day. The new motor makes a clicking noise that they say is "normal" but yet they acknowledge it needs to be replaced again. The new installation ran thru its cycle and flashed warning lights that the drain sensor is not functioning. They door hinge makes a crunching sound when used. There were small scratches on my counter and the front of the dishwasher.
Description of Work: Provided and installed a new motor in GE dishwasher. It works but it has not worked correctly yet. They are promising to get another motor and replace it. I'm awaiting a callback.

Found this company thru Angie's List and called them. They offered same day service and promptly came on the appointed day and time. The service tech replaced a water valve that he felt was the problem causing the massive ice build up inside the freezer. No problems, good service. A few weeks later the same problem - massive ice covering all of our food inside. I called the company at least 4 times to get them to re-visit the problem. No response. Finally, after several weeks, and a few more calls, I was able to talk with the tech and he took the serial number for a different part and was scheduled to come by. No call, no service visit. I went with a different company, they fixed the problem. I guess Appliance Pros are good at the initial service call, but they sure didn't want to stand by their work after that. I will not use them again.

My front-loading washer decided to suddenly not spin or drain, so I searched for a repair company listed in my neighborhood. Appliances Pro showed up, and I called the office to set up an appointment.. Technician arrived on schedule time, he was unsure whether he could unscrew a part of the washer to open it up and take a look, but was able to sneak his screwdriver under my stackable set with prowess and do it! He quickly diagnosed the problem (clogged pipe due to small articles of some type of liner from a shirt, I think), removed it, and fixed the washer! No new parts were needed, which was wonderful. He also gave me many tips to prevent another clog from happening. Technician was very friendly, upfront and honest when it came to the repair. I will definitely call him again for any future appliance repairs!

IT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN WORSE!! I called the company. Told them I had a Sears Kenmore Upright Freezer. Provided them the Model Number and Serial Number of the unit so they could be sure to have the right parts. I informed them that the freezer was working just fine until a month ago and then stopped working, it would not keep food frozen. I said I needed a technician that could either Fix it (if it could be fixed) or if it could not be fixed I needed them to remove the freon from the system so that I could take it to the dump. He set an appointment for Saturday between 11:00 and 2:00. At 2:15 my wife called because no one had shown up yet. The technician arrived at 3:00 PM. It two minutes he plugs the unit in and says, compressor is working, so there must not be any freon in the system, so it cannot be fixed. I asked him to put his device on the unit and tell me how much freon is in the system. His response was there should be 7 lbs. I OK, so that is what should be there hook up your device and tell me how much is in there. His response was I do not have any tool that can measure that. I said OK, well you tell me the compressor is running, how many amps is it pulling when it is running? His response was, I do not have a tool to measure that. I said OK, then just remove the freon that is in the system so that I can have it hauled off to the dump.SUPRISE, his response was I cannot do that. I told him he could put what tools he did have pack them up and get out of my house. I refused to pay him, and I called the company and informed them I did not pay their tech and I would not be paying for a service call when the person was late and arrived without any tools to do the job that I requested to have done. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY....
Description of Work: They were SUPPOSE to come to fix my Sears Kenmore Upright freezer, and if it could not be fixed they were suppose to remove the freon so that it could be hauled to the dump.

My experience with the company was great, if ever needed I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Nick came to my rental house at the request after I noticed a bad smell in our refrigerator upon moving in . It smelled like a dead rat to me and, although Nick assured me that it was likely not a dead rat, he did everything he could to locate the cause of the smell and to make sure. He spent a lot of time with me, cleaned out the fridge, vacuumed the bottom coils and even pulled it out and looked behind it. He was extremely thorough and gave good advice on how to get rid of the smell, which worked. He is very knowledgeable, personable yet professional. I really appreciated his help and his time, and I feel we are fortunate that our landlord called him (vs. another company) for the repairs. I would highly recommend his services.

poor, do not use them, it is a waste of your money
Description of Work: disposal was stuck, called and they came and basically said the reset button was not working and I needed a new disposal. They did not even attempt to take it apart or repair it. Then when they tried to sell me a new one, they said it would be $250 and I asked what is the model and brand of disposal. I immediately went to the Internet to look up the price and it said $69. Meanwhile, he lowered the price to $150. I said, I will buy it myself. He charged me $50 and let. Meanwhile, we managed to unclog it ourself and it works again. DO not call Appliance Pro. They are worthless. Waste of money

Background: this service was performed for my elderly mother (85) who is in a wheelchair. I (son) interacted with Nick on the phone and in person. I contacted this company to repair a broken built-in microwave in mid-September 2012. Nick (technician) showed up and I spoke to him on the phone. He stated the circuit board was broken and we had a choice of repair (several hundred dollars) or have a new microwave installed. Although Nick didn?t give us a specific model number at the time, he stated that the new microwave would be in the $450 to $500 range. Total bill quoted (including installation) was $740. We decided to have a new microwave installed. An appointment was set and Nick returned the following week to install the new microwave (GE DVM1950DRBB). At the completion of the installation, the top left side on the front of the microwave had a visible defect (a hump in the plastic liner). Additionally, Nick did not clean up after himself, leaving all books and other materials that he removed from the cabinet above the microwave all over the countertop?he did this knowing that my mother is in a wheel chair and can?t clean up after him. More egregiously, he did not mention or discuss a defect with the newly installed microwave with my mother. He simply packed up and left without mentioning anything. A picture of the defect is attached. I inspected the microwave the next day and contacted the company to inform them of the defect and inform them that my mother wanted a replacement microwave. Nick showed up for this appointment. I spoke with Nick via the phone and he agreed to replace the microwave. He stated that he needed to order a new one and that he would be in touch with us in several days. Two weeks went by without an contact by the company to follow up or schedule the installation of the replacement microwave. I contacted the company again and scheduled a new appointment with Josh for Thursday October 4th between 3 and 6 pm. I specifically requested that the technician show up not later than 5 pm and Josh agreed to coordinate this. Nick, the technician, didn?t show up and I spoke with Josh around 7 pm that evening. He informed me that the technician had been at the house at 10 am and nobody was home. I explained to Josh that nobody was home because the agreed upon time was between 3 and 6 pm, not 10 am. A new appointment was set for the following day (Friday); again between 3 and 6 pm. We called Josh on Friday afternoon and were informed that Nick would be at the house around 3 pm. When he didn?t show up at 3 pm we called again and were told that Nick would be there at 5 pm. Again, he didn?t show up at 5 pm. I spoke with Josh at 5:30 pm and got Nick?s cell phone number. I called him and he stated that he was running late due to Friday afternoon traffic and that we would be there by 6 pm. I don?t know whether Friday traffic actually caused the delay. However, I do know that if he was sitting in traffic for over 3 hours ? traffic reports did not indicate abnormal traffic delays due to an accident ? he would have had ample time to call and keep us updated on his delay. He didn?t do this and my gut feel is that he wasn?t actually caught up in traffic for 3 hours. I arrived at my mother?s home at 6:15 pm and observed Nick installing the replacement microwave. His technique for measuring the location for the mounting bolt was to tilt the microwave, visually align the bolt on the outside of the cabinet and then guess where he should drill to line up the access hole with the microwave?s mount. His guesses weren?t very good. He ended up adding 3 holes on the right side and 2 holes on the left. The microwave that was installed by Nick was a GE JVM1540DMBB model. I looked up this model and saw that Best Buy had a price of $189.99 and Home Depot sold it for $209. The original microwave is sold by Home Depot for $399. As Nick was packing up and getting ready to leave, I approached him about the fact that that replacement microwave was not the same as the originally installed defective model. He initially feigned ignorance and then I showed him the price on my smart phone and I demanded that a refund of $200 be issued to my mother. He stated he would only refund $150 so I called their office ? around 7 pm ? and spoke with Josh. I wanted to speak with the manager but Josh informed me that Singh (manager) was out for the day and that he would call me back on Saturday between 9 am and Noon. I also pointed out to Nick that numerous areas on the floor had wood shavings from his drilling. Nick informed me that you should expect some mess when an appliance is installed. He made no effort to clean this up. I called the company back around 4 pm on Saturday and spoke with Jessie about the fact that Singh was supposed to have called me that morning. She informed me that Singh was not in the office on Saturday and that Gill (the assistant manager) handled refunds. She assured me that I would be called back on Monday morning between 9 am and Noon. Again, I didn?t receive a call back on Monday morning. I called the office around 5:30 pm on Monday and spoke with Jessie again. I informed her that I had not been called back. She said she would call them and then call me back and conference the calls together. Again, I did not receive a call back from the company. I called the company on Tuesday, October 9th, and spoke with Singh. He was aware of the situation and stated he would refund $150. I made it clear that this was unacceptable given the price difference and the fact the Nick substantially damaged the cabinet above the microwave. He finally agreed and we terminated the conversation. My experience with this company leads me to conclude that they are unethical, deceptive and indifferent or incompetent. DO NOT CONSIDER DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM?THEY ARE PARIAHS.

They came out next day and disassembled the range, but said they would need to get parts then come out in two days to repair it. They did not show up again (despite many calls on my behalf) for over two weeks - leaving us without an oven for this time. They did eventually fix the range, but after disassembling and replacing some parts for the ventilation hood, they said they were unable to fix it. They did not charge us for the hood (which is fair). Unfortunately, while they were working on the hood, the made several large scratches in the sheet metal, bent the metal because they disassembles it incorrectly, and reassembled it incorrectly. Not surprisingly, they have been unresponsive with my requests for them to come out and repair the damage. I have tried to followup several times, but they never showed up to fix the damage... This company is dishonest, unreliable, and incompetent - they did significant damage to an expensive piece of equipment because of a combination of sloppiness and lack of knowledge, and have been very evasive, hard to contact, and ultimately unwilling to repair the damage they caused. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!!

Do not use Appliances Pro, we were totally dissatisfied with their service and lack of customer service and quite frankly believe they ripped us off. Our refrigerator and freezer weren't cooling properly when we contacted them (fan was running but the freezer and the refrigerator had stopped cooling). We first contacted them on 8/2/12 and they said they would come between 12 and 5. At 5 pm, the technician (Nick) called and said he was running late and said he would come between 9 and 12 the next morning, 8/3. He finally came around 12:30 on Friday, 8/3. He charged us $675 to fix the problem. The unit was running when he left and was cooling down. Later Friday evening, however, the freezer alarm went off, and when we opened the freezer water began dripping out. Sometime late that same night the refrigerator stopped cooling as well. We called Saturday morning and the person at the office said Nick would call us back right away to schedule a time to come back. We didn't hear a word all day Saturday or Sunday. I called again on Sunday and only got voicemail, even though their website says they make service calls on weekends. It wasn't until Monday morning that Nick called us back. He said he had to check his schedule and would let us know when he would come out. I didn't hear back from him so I called the office again, the lady who answered said he would be at our house between 12 and 3 pm. I asked why we weren't on the top of the priority list for service, and why he didn't come out first thing that morning, since we had been waiting all weekend, to which she replied that he had 'other jobs' to do. I told her we had to go out for the afternoon and agreed he would come to the house between 5 and 7 pm. At 7:30 pm, Nick calls us and says he would come around 8:30 p.m. since he was at another job. At about 9:30 p.m. he called back and said he had just finished and would it be all right if he came the next morning. We had totally lost patience with him at this point and I told him not to come, that we were completely unsatisfied with their lack of responsiveness and for charging us $675 and not doing the job right in the first place. I told him that we wanted a full refund and he agreed. I called the office again two days later (Wednesday) and explained the situation, and the person on the other end said a manager would call me right away about a refund. As of today, I haven't heard anything. We had another company come out and look at the refrigerator, their technician checked and said that the compressor was most likely bad and it wouldn't really be worth trying to repair it, and that any repair technician would have known that right away. I didn't mind paying him the $75 service call since we feel we got a straight answer, instead of a bill for unnecessary repairs. Appliances Pro claims that they respond within 3 hours, so we were very frustrated with their stalling, and their continued lack of follow up. We also should have been alarmed when the website claims that they take credit cards, but Nick said he could only accept a check. Bottom line is that they charged us for a repair that they probably knew was unnecessary and didn't make good on it. This company is suspect and I'm amazed they advertise themselves as a reputable business. Our advice is find another appliance repair service.

Our refrigerator has been acting up lately, with the refrigerator not cooling properly. After a few failed attempts at fixing the problem myself, we decided to call in a repairman. We were attracted to this company because they had an an ad in the Angie's List magazine claiming they would provide refrigerator service within 3 hours and because their ad included a coupon for $45 off a repair. We called Appliances Pro, Inc. at 8:27 AM, expecting they would have someone at our home within three hours. They told us the earliest window they could give us was between Noon-3PM. We went ahead with it, hoping it would be closer to Noon than to 3PM. They also said the repairman would call us 45 minutes before arrival. So you can imagine that when 2:15PM rolled around with no call, we decided it was time to call them. The service desk said they would call us back. A few minutes later, the repairman called and said he might be to our home in about an hour. When it was all said and done, he arrived at 4:35PM, more than eight hours after we called for service. The repairman spent no more than 10 minutes looking at our refrigerator and quickly declared that we would have to replace the refrigerator's defrost control board. He quoted us $450 for parts and labor. Having decided that we wouldn't pay more than $200 for the repair, we easily turned down the quoted price. He then dropped the price to $350 and said it was the lowest he could go. Again, we turned it down because we had no intention of paying that much for a refrigerator that we could replace for $800 at Lowes. He then asked if we are members of Angie's List. We told him we are and he then said "We treat Angie's List customers differently. Name the price you'd like to have the work done for." Of course this made me wonder "if this is how he treats Angie's List customers, how does he treat regular customers?" I told him we would spend no more than $200. He said he could do it for $300, but not $200. It wasn't hard to refuse the work after what we had been through so far. The repairman charged us $59.95 for simply coming out to look at our refrigerator. I'm not excited that we paid that much for the service we received. Here's the best part. After he left, I went online and found the part we needed for $39.99 on eBay (with free shipping). A little more research indicated that replacing the part is extremely easy and would take no more than 10 minutes. They wanted to charge us $450 for something I can do for $40 and ten minutes of my own time. We do not recommend this company.

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!! ---------------------------------------- Attempted to pursue this issue; however, the company provided an inaccurate response to Angie's List (details noted below) and refused to reply to the BBB outreach. The repairman (who also turned out to be the manager and owner) did return one call ? he told me that he was going to ?take action? against me for filing a complaint. I told him that he could take whatever steps he felt were ecessary, as long as he came out and repaired the damage that he did to our hood first. He stated that he would be out the following evening to set everything straight. Not surprisingly, he never showed up? Regarding the company response: The original appointment was scheduled for them to look at the lighting/ electrical problem with the hood, which they assured us they were able to service - I asked them to look at the range while they were on site. (not the other way around). The technician told me that the part was available, and that he would have everything back up and running in the evening on the next day. They never contacted me to tell me that a part was backordered. As a result we were without an oven/ stove for a week. They bought the replacement front plate because I pointed out that they bent the original one while they were trying to pry it off with a screwdriver to trouble shoot the initial problem. This is not something they proactively "bought only because of damages might occur". Once the parts arrived and they attempted (and failed) to fix the problem, they reinstalled the cover plate backwards, and installed the fascia for the hood incorrectly, further scratching and bending it. Ultimately, my problem is not that they were unable to repair the hood - they did not charge me for the repair, and if this had been the extent of the issue, I would consider the matter closed. Unfortunately, they did a fair amount of damage to the hood while they were trying to find the problem - they scratched it, they bent the metal, they installed parts wrong, etc. Now, I have to pay out of pocket to order new parts and have a reputable company come install them correctly. I would like to reiterate that people should be wary of working with this place. They try to pressure you into paying by cash or check; however, based on my own experiences, as well as those of others, I would strongly recommend using a credit card that will allow you to cancel/ or challenge a charge after the fact. They were unreliable, incompetent, and dishonest. Since they did not (ever) show up as scheduled, I was not home when they came out to ?complete? the work, and my wife paid them with a check. As a result, our only recourse is to take them to court (who has this kind of time) and/or to file complaints like this.

Response from Appliances Pro Inc
Customer called us for the appliance oven Viking to looked at and when tech was there , they asked me in to look at range hood as well. The tech fixed the oven successfully. As for the range hood. It had problems with light and fan noises. The technician ordered the parts and went back to replace part (the reason part took long, bc they were back ordered parts). After tech replaced (on/off/front plate). The front plate we bought only bc of damages that might occur and we replaced front plate afterwards. So, there was no damage done. Since we were unsuccessful. We did not charge the customer, including service fee.

I was so pleased to find a service company that listened to my concerns, honestly answered all my questions, had the parts to repair my refrigerator and was able to give me a great warranty. The total price did seem a little high, but considering that it was the whole defrost system that needed to be replaced, it was better than having to buy another refrigerator. The technician even found a way I could get a discount when I expressed concern over the price. Thanks for your service!I am recommending this company to everyone. They are very professional, helpful and kind. Wonderful service!

the staff and our were awesome!!!! This is a "world class" company with a business model that is fairly priced and communicates every detail, every step, of the way from the first call to the last followup to see if what they fixed is continuing to work. the tech competency level for fixing our range was very high and thorough. He checked and double checked to make absolutely sure he had identified the problem. They are a company that walks their talk and delivered on their every commitment. Always on time, at a predetermined fair price. I trust this company and will use them in the future for any appliance repairs I need.
Description of Work: We called Appliance Repair to fix a leak under our gas range. The woman who answered the phone was very personable, and was able to schedule an appointment for the next day. The technician called the night before the appointment to confirm the time (a two-hour window). He arrived 10 minutes *early*, was very professional and pleasant and efficient with his time.

i had great experience with this company. I will def would use them again.
Description of Work: Our top-loading Whirpool washer just stopped agitating/spinning on a Sunday, I called on Monday, they came on Tuesday(today) and fixed it in about a half hour. They were even running ahead and called to ask if it was ok (of course it was). They even gave me a discount on the part we needed! Before they installed it, I asked if our washer was worth fixing/if they thought it would last another little while after this parts replacement and they checked out a few more things for me, like the pump (they said it all looked good). I told my mom about them (the price, the promptness, the warranty) and she said that it sounded like I had gotten a really good deal- she's had a lot more appliance breaking down experience than I have. I'll definitely call them again!

They missed the initial appointment and then were very hard to contact to reschedule. This caused over a week of delay. Then they came out, and then had to order a part, another 2 weeks delay. They after install they walked away and the dishwasher, while somewhat better, is still not functioning properly. Now they are not returning our calls.
Description of Work: Our dishwasher stopped functioning so we called them based on the Angie's reviews.

My frig is working for half the price of a new one, dont know if it was worth it. I think next time I will go with a new Appliance better warranty and its new. I feel that this company or the tech ripped me off or why would they not call me back or leave the parts or give a detailed report....
Description of Work: The freezer part of our refrigerator stoped freasing and was just cold. So I picked out Appliances Pro, Inc. 703.330.8833 from the phone book, had a tech come out the next day and work on our refrigerator. The yellow page ad stated a government discount that I did not get. The tech worked on the unit while I was at work and got it working great but charged me $450 & $35 for looking at my cooktop vent $8 tax total of $493.. The tech was asked to leave the broken parts and did not. The techs documentation is not readable so i cannot determin what work was preformed or the price for labor or parts and what parts were replaced. At this point I do not know what I was charged for nor why my bill was $495 unless that is the going price for fixing refrigerators. I called the main number when I got home and spoke with the secectery I asked her why the tech did not leave the parts as i requested and she said that she didnt know why i would want them becouse it was broken so i told her so i could verify the parts were replaced. She said the Tech would call me right back, I never heard back from the office or the tech even after emails and phone calls to them.

Once the repairman FINALLY arrived, it went fine. He diagnosed the problem immediately, had the required part in his truck, and replaced it. The microwave works fine again after his repair. It would have been nice had he cleaned up after himself as the microwave was full of dirty handprints. It was also interesting that the invoice he had me sign said there was only a 90 day warranty, when he verbally told me there was a 1 year warranty on the part (90 days on labor only). He wrote that in after the fact. The invoice also required me to sign some sort of a legal waiver which made no sense to me and which the repairman could not explain. I declined to sign the waiver. The office also gave me an arrival window of 11 am - 2 pm. At 1:50 I called to see where they were. The office had the repairman call me back several minutes later to tell me he'd be here by 3:30. At 3:40, I called again to see where they were. The office didn't know, but checked with the repairman who told him he was in "DC" - whatever and wherever that meant. The repairman finally arrived at around 4:10 pm and then didn't finish work until just after 5:30 pm. At no point did anyone from this company call me to tell me they'd be late nor did they seem too concerned that I had to wait over 5 hours for them to arrive. When I questioned them about this, the office told me that they always give their customers a 3 hour arrival window - not realizing that he was self-admitting that they didn't even meet their own standard! For me, this is the ONE thing I cannot tolerate and I will not use them again. My time is valuable. I won't be held hostage again to a company that can't time manage themselves. Their performance also put me behind in getting my twin infants fed dinner, which caused them some distress.

I called in the morning and the repairman(Sam) came in the afternoon. I don't believe he knew very much about water dispensing refrigerators. He tried to tell me it didn't work because I didn't have a filter in it. I explained to him the filter was optional and it had been working but the water stream became less and less and finally stopped altogether. The ice was still being made and being dispensed. He checked the water supply line and said the problem was low water pressure and we needed to call a plumber. In the process of pushing the refrigerator back into place he tore the vinyl flooring. My husband researched the problem online and fixed the problem himself. The lines were frozen and the filter assembly needed to be replaced. He also put a piece of cardboard down to protect the floor. We were surprised that no precautions were taken by the repairman to protect the flooring. The repairman was in our home for approximately 20 minutes, was unable to identify the problem much less fix it, and damaged our floor in the process. I gave him my credit card for the $50 service call in November and it just showed up on my bill in March. (Four months later) We thought he had decided not to charge us but apparently that was not the case.
