I contracted Arlen Miller to remodel my house to include tearing down walls, removing a gas fireplace, and installing a new window. Less than a year after completing the work, I had noticed that the window Arlen's company installed was leaking. After notifying Arlen and having to follow up several times, he requested that he send me payment for the replacement of the window and that I find someone else to perform the repair. Due to the lack of responses and hassle in trying to resolve, I accepted the payment and found another contractor. Attached is a photo of the window once the new contractor came. You can see that there is NO FLASHING around the window and all that was put up on the exterior of the house was wood trim. Within the year, the wood was rotting, the nails were corroding, and the window was leaking whenever it rained. I am glad I accepted his payment as I have no confidence he would have done it right since he didn't do it right the first time. Besides the window, I also had problems with Arlen after our final walk through. Roughly a week after, I received an email asking for an additional $1,100 payment for odds and ends. I had paid Arlen on time for each draw and in full for each change order. Because I rebutted his request (none of the work was in our contract), he decided to say that his warranty was no longer valid. Lastly, I know I am not the only one who has had these issues as I have spoken to others who have used this company and similar experiences. In short, STAY AWAY! Not only will he cut corners but he will then return later requesting additional payments.

Response from Miller Home Improvements
We've discovered there are some people that you can't satisfy. As you can see in the photos, the window provided by the owner and not given notice through proper procedures for change orders (as were more of the changes that were not documented, nor noted in proper form), was given to subcontractors directly to install. The subcontractors meant well to please the client here, however it was a replacement window used in a new construction window application. The team did learn here not to perform work methods as requested by owners when they do not match proper methods, as well as not completing any work not agreed on by all parties. It is our commitment to please clients as much as possible and within reason. We paid [Member Name Removed] for this, even though he shorted us from paying for all the work completed on his project.
