The contractor and his son came to the house and dug a trench and laid wiring to go to the new swimspa and laid a wire for a future duplex plug, which was left in the ground to be connected once the greenhouse was built over the spa, with the promise that they would come back to hook up the plug (for lights) after the greenhouse was completed. They knew we would be building the kit greenhouse ourselves and that it would take several months before we would be ready. When I called to have them connect the wire I encountered a very rude son on the phone who said I owed them $139 and they would not do any more work for me until they were paid. I wrote a check for $150 and included it with an apology note and gave it to my husband to deliver. I discovered several months later the envelope was not delivered because there was no place to put it at their building. I dug out an address and included that envelope inside another one and mailed it to them. No word. The check was cashed. I assumed they would be completing the job because they knew I was ready. I contacted them again today. The story had changed. Now the owner said he never promised to connect the wire but that he would do it, and then he proceeded with a profanity. I disconnected at once. A few minutes later I called back and told the son I am a member of Angie's list and that I will be leaving honest feedback. So what you have here is totally honest. The only thing I haven't said is that the reason I did not contact them earlier was I was in the hospital for almost a month because I almost died. That fact does not excuse the late payment, but most people have been nice to me once they found out how close I got to never paying at all. If they had been nice to me today they would have gotten another, much-larger job from me that I am accepting bids for now.

My experience at Countryside Electric Inc was wonderful and excellent. The crew was excellent and they were nice people. They did what they were hired to do and it worked. The owner put a double switch for the light stand so that the light and the fan could be switched on.
Description of Work: I used Countryside Electric Inc to add an outlet and 2 fluorescent light fixtures in the garage. The owner also repaired a light stand which the original electrician has messed up.

The time from getting the estimate to deciding which or all of the items to do was a little over a week. Countryside Electric was at the house about a week after my wife and I provided them with the "go ahead" on doing 3 of the 6 items. They stated that they would be at the house in the morning on a particular day about a week in advance. That was confirmed the day prior; they would arrive between 7:30 and 8:00. Jack, Matt, and another Matt were at the house just prior to 8:00. They had everything prepared and ready to go when arriving. They had all of the parts, supplies, materials needed for the job; even the dimmer that we wanted on the four newly-installed recessed can lights in one room. They were considerate of our home such as laying drop cloths when needed and cleaning-up along the way. Their access holes were smaller and fewer than what I was anticipating(only 2). They completed the job leaving about 11:30 which was also sooner than anticipated. Overall, excellent.
Description of Work: There was some electrical work needing to be done on the house that we bought earlier in the year. We had been referred to Countryside Electric several months ago. Jack came out with son Matt doing an estimate for 6 items that we we looking into being done. Jack is a quite "matter of fact" and cordial personality. The estimate was a bit more than we expected, but when considering all of what was on the list of items proposed to be done, it was good. Plus, we really did not really know what to expect not having had any electrical work done in many years and not in this area(we relocated to the northern VA area earlier in the year). After getting the estimate, my wife and I decided that 3 of the 6 things would be good to get done while 3 of the six could be dropped. My wife and I figured that 3 items were really not worth the cost to get them done; that they were more convenience than anything else.
