We have an odd shaped, small backyard and I wanted to maximize the size of the deck. Cliff Whitmer showed up on time to give me an estimate and brought with him samples of decking, railing systems, and photo's of similar decks he had done. For the decking samples he brought each type (wood and composite) in new condition and how it would look after a couple years of exposure to the elements. He made great suggestions on how to shape the deck to maximize the size and how to finish the area underneath the deck. On his next visit he brought me 3D drawings on the computer. After we hired him Cliff sent me the 3D drawings to include with my HOA package and gave me all the information I would need to get a building permit from the county. I was scheduled for construction in late August but a slot opened up in July so the deck was constructed in July. Whitmer Decks did an amazing job building the deck. They built it quickly and the craftmanship is second to none. They also cleaned up the work area each day. Cliff Whitmer stands behind his work. I found one issue that needed fixing a few days after the deck had been completed and he came out the next day and fixed it. We love our deck and really enjoyed our experience in working with Cliff, his wife who runs the office, and his construction team. We recommend Whitmer Decks to anybody thinking about having a deck built. Oh yes, a few months after our deck was complete we received a book in the mail that showed the before, during and after construction photo's!!! I have never before or since got service like I received from Whitmer Decks!!!!

The owner was highly educated and he held many degrees. He explained the whole process before commencing work. He works only on one construction at a time and he is always on the job. He managed the team and worked with them. He allowed me to choose the material and he was very professional. He designed according to the style of the house. He had the lumber come everyday to deliver the wood. He was very responsive and answered my calls and emails.

Meeting to provide new design for porch and materials for deck was followed by a meeting to provide job estimate, work schedule and detailed explanation of what we could expect. Meetings were held as schedule. Work began as scheduled. Two workmen were on the job every day and the owner was at the worksite daily except when administrative matters (i.e. arranging inspections getting supplies etc) required his attention. This company works on one project at a time. The crew was very easy to communicate with, they were polite, and very businesslike. During construction two or three issues came up and they were quickley addressed and corrected. Cliff (the owner) was straight forward and most willing to explain pros and cons to us. He provided a basic estimate for the job and then had a list of possible options and their costs. He did not try to sell any of the options. When we asked about an option he had pictures from other work he had done that showed the option we were asking about. The experience was very positive. The project was done and the clean up was completed without any anxiety.

We had two existing decks, built at different times and joined together by stairs. The higher deck was in extremely poor condition. Cliff's estimate for a screened porch to replace the upper deck included a very detailed CAD drawing that gave us a clear visual of what the finished project would look like. He spent a lot of time with us going over options and we never felt rushed. The job started a week ahead of schedule, and Cliff and his crew were extremely professional, courteous, and prompt. The workmanship is exceptional and the screened porch is beautiful. Cliff takes pride in his work and for good reason - take one look at his website and you'll see detailed photos of his projects from start to finish, with accolades from all the customers. I am extremely happy with the results and would not hesitate recommending Whitmer Decks to anyone!

He did excellent work. His price was on the higher side, but he came highly recommended. He did the job and it was very nice. The steps are wide like I wanted them to be and they have railings and hand rails on both sides. It is exactly what I wanted.

Whitmer Decks was less expensive than the other deck builders, but I would have gone with them even if they were not.
