Lawn Care, LLC is rather new from a company standpoint, but the owner has worked long and hard under his father's guidance for over 10 years. The owner's father owns/owned his own janitorial business, and is now looking to retire. Not wanting to steal my father's name, business, and his outright legacy in what he has created, I wanted to start my own business, under my own name, and gain the same respect my father has with his time in the industry. R.A.M. Lawn Care, LLC is licensed, insured, and bonded. This small business takes pride in the work and seeing that the client is taken care of on all fronts. The owner believes in being upfront and honest, but also being very personable and open to all questions and suggestions. I pray my hard work makes your day easier. GOD BLESS, Morgan Tyler Crawford, Owner of R.A.M. Lawn Care, LLC

ProLawn's organic approach offers an environmentally sound alternative to chemical lawn care. ProLawn is a locally owned and operated family business. For over 35 years, we have personally served each client's lawn. Some call us their 'personal gardener'. Here at ProLawn, we strive for excellence in our personalized client relationships; quality in our job performance; and measured results in your lawn's performance. After your personal, certified technician visits for the first time, we recommend trying something new. wiggle your toes in the grass; play fetch with the dogs; or listen to the kids in the back yard...you'll know you made the right choice...for your family and for your lawn.

"If I could give Prolawn Lawncare zero stars I would. I hired Prolawn after firing TruGreen (another terrible service provide like so many in Northern Virginia). Prolawn was my service provider for just one season because of the incompetence of their office team and management/ownership. The technician I first met with had 25 years of industry experience and was quality focused. He was the reason I hired Prolawn, with the expectation, the technician that I met with would provide the service each time. The office staff said it would be no issue to have this technician assigned to my account, however several times early on in the relationship, a different technician that had never been to my property performed the service. So as you would expect, roughly 35% of the yard was not being serviced. In addition to Prolawn not honoring their word to schedule the same technician for each scheduled service so I would be assured 100% of the service was being completed each time, they had the incorrect sketch of my property. The incorrect sketch led to 35% of my property not being serviced each and every time a different technician performed it. And by the way, Prolawn was charging me 100%. I went through 3-4 iterations with Prolawn to correct the sketch, the technician came out to my property again, etc.. I thought the issue had been corrected, but to no avail it wasn't fixed. Last week I went through another iteration with the office staff to correct the sketch because the 1st service they provided this year (March 2021) was incomplete and again done by a different technician. This time the incorrect sketch only led to 20% of my property not being service, but once again, charged the full amount. Last week I tried working with the office team to correct the sketch once and for all and requested the technician and person responsible for updating the property sketch visit my property. I was told they would schedule it next week. This morning I received a call from someone on their office team "respectfully" declining to provide further service after speaking with management/ownership. Prolawn provides weed and fertilizer treatments, this isn't rocket science, but due to the incompetence and the ineptitude of the office team to get a simple property sketch correct, they will no longer be providing service. In general, this is the state of customer service today and small businesses like Prolawn that are owned/operated/managed by fools. Providing good (not even great) customer service, just enough to keep a customer is not difficult, but this is the result when the company is led by clowns."

Lawn fertilization and treatments FAQs

The cost to reseed or overseed a lawn is about $1,050 on average, ranging from $450 to $1,700, depending on lawn size, seed type, and location. Popular seed types for residential lawns include bahia, fescue, and Bermuda. Keep in mind that it costs $0.10 to $0.20 per square foot to seed or overseed a lawn. Additional cost factors may include:

  • Fertilization: $80–$400

  • Soil testing: $700–$2,100

  • Yard cleanup and leaf removal: $200–$560

  • Treating weeds: $110–$325

  • Mowing: $50–$210

On average, the cost of lawn fertilization is $250, ranging from $80 to $400, depending on the size of the lawn, its current condition, additional treatments, number of applications, fertilizer type, and location. Keep in mind that labor, tools, and equipment make up 80% to 90% of the total cost of lawn fertilization. Additional lawn treatment options include:

  • Lime treatment: $100–$150 per 1,000 square feet

  • Crabgrass treatment: $30–$80

  • Grub treatment: $30–$80

  • Mulching: $150–$400

  • Dethatching: $265–$295

The frequency with which you should fertilize your lawn depends on its overall health. Healthy lawns with healthy soil may only need to be fertilized annually. On the other hand, you may need to fertilize lawns with shallow roots, poor soil, or neglected or over-fertilized every six weeks. To determine the best fertilizing schedule for your lawn, consider hiring a professional lawn fertilizing service and consult them about recommended frequency based on your lawn’s health.

Lawn aeration costs between $75 and $350 on average, depending on the size of the lawn, aeration type, slope of the lawn, soil type, lawn prep, and location. Keep in mind that it costs an average of $0.10 to $0.35 per square foot to aerate a lawn that’s less than 1,000 square feet. Different types of lawn aeration include:

  • Spike aeration: $85

  • Core aeration: $200

  • Liquid aeration: $75

Whether organic or synthetic fertilizers are better for your lawn depends on your goals, budget, and plans for other lawn treatments. Organic fertilizer costs more but is likely to benefit your lawn more in the long run by improving the soil as well as feeding your grass. Synthetic fertilizers get faster results but don’t enrich the soil and may contaminate nearby bodies of water if you live on a shoreline. A hybrid fertilizer may be an option to give you the benefits found in both organic and synthetic fertilizers.
