Get Ernie's promises in writing! Ernie Freeman told us he would give a 2 year warranty on a small roofing job. We accepted his estimate because of the warranty he promised. When I asked for the warranty in writing, Ernie refused. He cancelled my job. In addition, he also refused to put into writing that we would not be liable for any injuries his workmen might sustain on the job. Ernie comes across as a nice guy, but please be very careful! Protect yourself.

For anyone considering the services that Ernie offers, my wife and I would like to share that we recently hired Ernie and he and his crew did a fantastic job, completed the work on time and on budget, and his crew were absolutely professional and easy to work with. Our aging deck was badly in need of attention, and some of the joists were a little loose and uneven, making us nervous when walking n the deck and worried that we would need a completely new deck. Ernie gave an honest assessment and explained all of our options, and was able to save the deck, only adding new pillars where needed. The results are absolutely beautiful, rock solid and better than we had envisioned it turning out, for much less money than a completely new deck. His crew also worked in the cold and the wind of January to complete the work in time before snow came, and never complained or were late. We would absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend RestoreBuild to anyone in a similar position to what we were in, and will not hesitate to contact Ernie again when we may need any of the services he offers. An absolute professional, and gentleman to work with.

From drawing up the plans, getting the permits, inspections and building the deck and porch they took care of it all. The workmanship is outstanding. After 18 years my old porch railing was rotting and falling apart, standard contractor wood railing that looked the same on just about every house in the neighborhood. I contacted Ernie and gave him some ideas about what I was looking for. He made numerous suggestions, brought samples by for me to gauge my interest and was very patient as we narrowed down exactly what I wanted. Once we settled the design strategy, materials, etc. and got the contract details worked out Ernie and his team got to work and turned my home-hum front porch into something truly special and unique, it really pops and adds great visual value to the front elevation. Ernie really cares for his customers and for doing a good job. He's really enthusiastic about making sure the customer is completely happy with the work. I'd definitely recommend RestoreBuild.

RestoreBuild replaced the siding on my home with pre-painted Hardie Siding. The final work product looks great, and my landscaping looks like they were never there. The owner is very easy to talk to and knows what he is doing!

My wooden deck was 20 years old and the wood was splintered and old and I was tired of staining it every year. I decided I wanted to replace the railing and deck with Trex. Ernie not only did a fantastic job installing the Trex, but he installed additional floor joists which gave more support for the deck boards. I also had him stain the remaining wood posts, balusters, and bottom rail. I am very pleased with the result.

I was very happy with Ernie and the work he did installing my seamless gutters. What particularly impressed me was the fact that he didn't try to upsell me by recommending stuff that I really didn't need (or want). I plan on hiring him to clean my gutters on an ongoing basis.

Great, Ernie and Louis arrived on-time across three days. They took apart the entire deck (and I mean every aspect of the Trex deck - boards, railings, lighting system) and waterproofed everything. Basically the original builder skipped a crucial step and water was building up int he support columns - gallons of water. In the pics you will notice the wide open spaces where flashing / waterproofing should be. The waterproofing you see was my earlier attempt to resolve with a friend. My stairs (again, same builder) were also sinking. Ernie and Louis jacked the stairs up, leveled them and put a permanent support base for the stairs. They feel rock solid right now. They worked clean and to my surprise, nothing got damaged in the breakdown and reassembly of the deck. I was expecting something, that is the just the nature of taking something apart, but it went together well. That reflects a lot of skill, knowledge and thoroughness. Overall, the repair job prevented a tens of thousands of dollars situation. Getting a quote and scheduling was easy. I could not recommend Ernie / Restore Build enough. Finally, I learned a few things from even talking to Ernie. I am handy, but it is always great when contractors provide knowledge to homeowners while getting the job done.

I obtained three quotes for this project. I called Restorebuild and left a message. Ernie called back the next day and made himself available to come out over the weekend and provide a quote. He provide a written quote a few days later. In meeting with Ernie he was professional and answered all questions and concerns. He even suggested getting other quotes for the job. All three quotes came in around the same price. I went with Ernie, because he seemed responsible and trustworthy. Ernie was scheduled to come out on Friday, but got delayed on another project. He quickly communicated this with me and we rescheduled for the following day. The job took half the day and completed to my satisfaction. Ernie took pictures along the way to show for future reference. I would hire Ernie again for future projects. He was extremely easy to work with and flexible.

I used Angie's List messenger to initiate communication and got a very prompt and appreciated response. I told Ernie what I needed and where I lived. No problems were communicated to me at that time. I took the day off work to wait for the contractor to come for an estimate. He texted me to move the time twice during the day. Finally, thirty minutes before he was supposed to be at my house, he texted and said he was going to have to "decline" b/c they aren't doing work in Alexandria and he was too busy to give me an estimate. I don't do business with deceptive people.

It went ahead of schedule considering the weather. I was really happy with the finished deck!

Very responsive to what we wanted and really delivered. No pressure. Really high quality work. Kept workspace neat. Polite and punctual 2 man crew. Would hire again.

We worked with Ernie to design and build an enclosed screened deck/porch with metal roof. From the beginning Ernie was willing to work with us to update and refine the design and adjust the work and estimates. Because of his ideas and flexibility we ended up with a much improved final product. Ernie worked closely with the engineer to obtain and update drawings (who was difficult at times), and he always remained up-beat and professional. He also worked with the county for permits and inspections, which went smoothly. Ernie and his team also went above and beyond getting our hot tub onto the deck, which took a lot of planning and ingenuity. By the time he was finished we felt like family and missed seeing him each morning. We found Ernie and his team to be hard-working, honest, friendly and a joy to work with. They kept the work site tidy and left it immaculate when done. We HIGHLY recommend RestoreBuild, based on our experience and will not hesitate to contact Ernie when we have future projects. I had the pleasure of Ernie’s expertise twice over the last six months. My first experience was with my cedar deck which all main support post needed replacement because of rot. Ernie did a great job, being care with our landscaping, on time and for a fair price. My second experience was after the recent wind storm we experienced shingle damage on our roof. Ernie did the repair only two days after I contacted him, again quality work and a fair price. I would recommend him to anyone in need home repair or renovation.

I bought the Angie's list gutter cleaning special to clean the gutters in our new house. It went wonderful. Ernie came out on time and inspected the job. I miscalculated the job ( number of floors and LF) and Ernie worked with me for a very very small upcharge to account for my miscalculation. He also inspected other areas of our roof to notify us of any deficiencies that we might have missed. He is great, fair and honest and I will definitely use him again for any exterior work in our home.
