JES Foundation Repair

We live in a townhouse and after seeing our porch bricks and adjoined main wall bricks pull away more and more over a 3 year span of living there we decided to take action. JES came highly recommended as a foundation company and we hoped they would do proper inspections to see if this was in fact a foundation issue or they would give us proper expertise in what the problem would be. The salesperson came out and from the second he walked up he used a scare tactic to make his goal clear that this was a foundation repair which worked well into getting us to buy it. He kept reiterating that this is such a huge problem and that we called just in time and all the right terms. No tests or measurements (investigation into actual issues) or "engineering takeoffs" taken to determine that it was actually a foundation issue. We took his word as the professional and went with their reputation in doing the right thing. Months later they came out for 3 days and installed the piers and were never heard of again. Not a single follow up during, or after the work and not even to let us know the work was done. the permit was left on the door and I was left wondering for a long time if someone would call, inspection. I had asked for pictures of the work and those were obviously not provided either. The day after the work was done our basement flooded with water and piles of dirt. Our main drain line was along that wall and their work had infiltrated the drain and caused a back up. I called twice to inform of this and possibly get a follow up on the work at same time and both times I was told that the production manager would call me back which never happened to this date. Months later now that we are having the brick wall re-built by another exterior company as what we thought would be the cosmetic portion of work, we find out that the JES foundation repair was not necessary at all. Our porch was built improperly and without proper support directly under the surface so it was hollow and the 4" blocks that were used to hold up the bricks were simply pushing out. without a separation to the main house, this caused the bricks from the main house to also pull away as well. Part of the selling of the job was for them to attempt to pull the wall back with these long screws which they basically put into a hollow wall for no reason and should have been noted but as with everything else they did it was just for show. So basically in the end we paid a lot of money for a big foundation project that is now deemed unnecessary and misdiagnosed and were simply scared into it, our basement was flooded as a result of it and now we still have to fix the issue that was at hand. All this and not a single follow up phone call to date. No response to the issues noted. This may be the single worst experience I have had a with company that prides itself on providing a very specific line of work especially at the price tag and importance that it poses.

My salesperson was not very responsive, but the team of men that did the work were excellent. They were at my house for an entire 5 day work week, and at the end of each day they would show me and walk me through what they had done. That was very much appreciated. They finished on time and did an excellent job. Their names were Manuel Guzman, Jeffrey Amaya, and Ever (didn’t get his last name). Love those 3 guys!

The step and sidewalk section were lifted successfully. The foreman, Bryan Rutherford, arrived on time and explained the process while the work proceeded.

JES performed a Polymer Injection to level our front porch. Work was quick and did the job we needed.

Our Service Technician, Marty (William Lambert) was fantastic. He was on time and very courteous. Marty explained what he was doing with our sump pump system and provided some insight on the operation of the back-up battery system. I would definitely recommend using JES again.

Steven Gonsales and Victor Cruz were the technicians who showed up on time to do the work. They were polite, well organized, and efficient. It looks like they did an excellent job on the basement wall. Steven also called our attention to an issue with our porch, recommending that we consider having it stabilized. He gave us some options to consider, which we will do. We appreciated him noticing and giving us a heads-up on this potential problem.

Our overall experience with JES has been excellent. We contacted them back in November 2019 because we noticed some new cracks in our foundation and slight movement in one of the additions on the house after some heavy rains. The rains caused the ground to swell after a 3-4 weeks of no rain and shift the house. Sean was our systems designer and came out to evaluate the issues and made a plan for correcting them. He was responsive to our questions and came back to explain the process again to my husband who was not at the initial meeting. We also spoke with Ben who was helpful in answering additional questions about the work and lifetime warranty. Crystal ensured the work was scheduled at a time that worked for us and kept us updated during the permitting process. The work began in August 2020 and was a big job. They installed 14 push piers and 9 IntelliBraces. The installation team was Rudy Gonzalez (foreman), Victor Cruz (co-foreman) and Matthew (installer). All worked extremely hard. Even when several unforeseen issues can up in the work, such as the absence of footers where some push piers and intellibraces needed to be installed, and the obstruction of work areas by existing HVAC and plumbing fixtures, Rudy and his boss Moises spoke with us at length to help us understand the problems, and ultimately, still remained faithful to the work schedule and the price estimate that we were quoted. This was a major relief to us as we were on a tight budget for the project. This is a review of the work up until last day of installation. We will monitor the stabilization of the house and update this review if necessary, however the quality of work seems excellent so far. Given the experience we have had with JES this far in addition to the lifetime warranty for the work, we are confident that any issues will be dealt with promptly and professionally.

I am posting this on behalf of my mother. She had JES encapsulate her house back in 2009. She has limited mobility and trusted their judgement since she cannot get under the crawlspace to look at any issues. They encapsulated it and said it was all fine. $9000. Apparently, the insulation was left in during the encapsulation and was moldy. She had no idea. Fast forward to 2015. JES goes under the house to look at the foundation and puts a jack up on the house to stabilize things. $2000. No mention of mold. 2017, JES goes back under to inspect and says everything looks good, but she needs a new dehumidifier. $1800. She pays that too. No mention of mold. This week, she has water damage to the house due to a different mishap and the restoration company goes under the house the next day to look. They show her pictures of moldy insulation that has been there for a long time. Obviously, she is upset that on top of the latest issue at her house, somebody didn't do the work that needed to be done and told her it was fine for years. She has to explain to the insurance company why moldy insulation is under the house when she had no clue and thought it was handled. JES representatives told her on the phone that she never paid for the removal and it would not be remedied. They will not be doing anything. Her response was that if someone had told her in the first place, of course she would have had it removed. She is so frustrated that she was in tears a couple times. An older lady with limited mobility just can't get under and look herself to see if it is done right. If you use this company, please verify that they are handling the problem completely.

Chris Colombe, Jacob Miller and John Baker did an excellent job. Very professional. Worked fast and hard. We will hire them again for future work. Highly recommend.

The work was completed in a timely fashion.The workers were extremely punctual ,professional, friendly and courteous. They kept us informed of what they were doing and showed us what they had completed each day. I would like to commend the following workers on their excellent job: Manuel Guzman, Rayford Barefoot, Robert Henry, John Rector, Sinclair Barnes and Melvin Riley. JES should be extremely proud to employ such efficient, hard working employees.

Foreman, co-foreman and installer were very efficient, arrived promptly for three days, were very knowledgeable. Answered all my questions and concerns

JES was happy to sell me an expensive $18k waterproofing system for my 1000sqf full basement, assuring me after I installed a sump pump, moisture barriers, freeze guards, basement gutters I would no longer see the wood floor cupping up in a single room (less than 400sqft). I trusted JES and the warranty they offered, so I signed the contract. They did the work and now LESS THAN A YEAR LATER - the same single room (less than 400sq ft) is having the wood floors cup up again. I contacted JES and they immediately pointed the finger to blame the flooring contractor (which they worked and coordinated the job) on installing new wood floors down after they had put the $18k system in, therefore. So please note - JES was called in and assured me I needed a full $18k gut job on my basement to fix one small room. A year later, the room is looking as bad as it did before they did the work - in no other area of the basement (where the flooring contractor also laid down wood) is having issues. Just the room JES assured me was the source of moisture and that they would fix. The bottom line is I'm now dealing with lining up legal counsel. I would rather spend my money on legal fees fighting against a company that takes money and offers false promises than anywhere else. Read the other reviews here. I'm not alone. Don't trust the sales pitch, when something goes wrong and their system fails (which it will, not even a year later...) they will point the finger at someone else, no matter how laughable and unethical it looks.

We had our basement waterproofed by JES and one of the sump pumps malfunctioned. Marty, the service technician, did a great job assessing the problem and repairing it quickly. Great service!

Excellent work! Arturo helped us originally followed by his amazing crew. Highly recommend this company. Arturo as consultant, Jeff as Project Manager and Hymie we’re all excellent. Our crawl space foundation was disgusting. This work should have been performed by earlier owners but it fell to us. We were tired of critters, cold floors in the winter, and moisture. Now we have a space under our house that is immaculate and dry. And, cracked wooden beams have been stabilized and a de-humidifier Installed that drains invisibly.

It went great! The crew (C. Colombe, M. Hill, & J. Kegy) did an awesome job. They were very courteous, punctual and they explained exactly what they were going to do. The outcome was exactly what I was expecting. I would definitely hire JES again.

They replaced required parts for the sump pump and filter for the air system. identified aging pump (1 of 3) that will need replacing. Well done job
