Shepherd Moving

We contacted Shepherd's Moving Company a month before we actually moved. Mr. Clay Shepherd did a walk through quoted us a price and we confirmed a date. The movers were supposed to show up on Saturday, 9/22/2012 at 9:30am. At 10:00am I called and talked to Clay. He said he had tried to call me to let me know that his truck "blew up" and we would have to re-schedule. There is no log of any call from Clay either in my phone history or on line itemized call list. I told him the urgency of the situation that we had four small children that we had all packed up and we needed to get this done today. I asked him why we can't rent another truck. He responded that I could look for one. So I found one to rent on my own and called him back. He did go and pick up the truck and showed up with two other helpers. Things were looking ok at that point. The first hour they were moving through the house and loading quickly. I sent my wife ahead with a load in her car and I told Clay that I was taking a load to the new house but that I would be back. He responded by saying it shouldn't take that much longer to load because we had taken so much over already. I went to the new house, dropped my load off and returned. Here is where the problems started. It was clear that they had stopped loading all together when I left. There were cigarette butts everywhere, there were drinks from our fridge that they had taken, and it was clear they were taking their time. I went to Clay and asked what is taking so long. He mumbled something about the hill slowing them down. Then one of his helpers hit a ceiling fan in the bedroom and sheared a fan blade off. He then tried to say that it happened on it's own, that he had just been standing there. After being reassured by Clay that the loading would only take a few hours and that since they had a bigger truck they could do the move in one trip, it took them over five hours to load and they left alot behind. To make matters worse they didn't have any tools to dissassemble anything. They had on small pocket knife tool. They loaded items in my truck without telling me and then left me with no rope or anything to secure what was in my truck. To top it off, instead of trying to make up for lost time by taking a quick lunch, they took over an hour to show up when the commute is only 10 minutes between houses. We had damaged furniture, damaged doors, damaged walls. Clay gave excuse after excuse and was completely unprofessional. No one should have to endure a move like that. They don't know what they are doing and worse they really don't care. Never use Clay Shepherd or Shepherd's Moving.
