I was looking to have my heat pump replaced and had already contacted multiple HVAC companies in the area for an estimate. I ordered a system via another company and had the replacement scheduled for a Thursday. While I was at a board meeting on that Tuesday, a board member told me about James Nelson, owner of Neka HVAC. She said his rates were unbeatable and that he has 25 years of experience. I contacted James the next day (Wednesday) to see what he could offer. James was very quick to get back to me and offered a price far lower than anyone else. He came in $2800 lower than my highest offer and $1600 lower than my best offer (he offered me a Bryant 1.5 ton, 14 SEER, variable speed unit with installation at $3890). I contacted him on a Wednesday and he said he could be at my house on a Monday for the installation. He also offered a 10 year labor warranty which no other company offered. James can offer lower rates because he does not have the high overhead that these other larger companies have. He also does Saturday installs. Based on the many home projects I have had to deal with lately, I am now partial to the smaller companies. The larger companies have employees who just don't care enough. I find myself consistently giving better reviews to smaller companies, and lower reviews to larger companies. Regrettably, I did not go with Neka because I was already too far along in the process with another company and my integrity kicked in and had me move forward with my original plan because the other company had already purchased the equipment and had already dedicated manpower to my project. I have been kicking myself ever since because it has not been going well with this other company. If I could do it all over again, I would go with Neka. I am giving them 5 stars because seriously the price is unbeatable and because they offer an incredible labor warranty!
