handyman service, water heater repair, basement remodeling
+ 1 moreOverall, the process was very unpleasant as the contractor demonstrated that neither he nor his team had the skill to complete a rather simple basement refinish. Some of the issues that the homeowner has had to deal with include: 1. A newly installed bathroom cabinet fell from the ceiling and broke; 2. A leak occurred in the basement ceiling because when the drywall was installed a water pipe was punctured; 3. Two new water heaters were installed at the homeowner's expense because the contractor selected an electric heater when a gas heater was needed; 4. Seems on drywall throughout the finished basement are separating due to poor quality; 5. The finished design on the bathroom was not agreed on in the original contract; 6. Unnecessary holes were cut into walls and the HVAC due to the contractor's lack of knowledge of the system;
Description of Work: Handymen LLC was contracted to finish a basement of approximately 1200 ft, including plumbing, electrical, insulation, and drywall. Although I was hesitant to work with this business due to their lack of experience, the principal convinced me that his team could do the job in an efficient, timely, and professional manner. Overall, I was extremely disappointed in all of the above as the contractors performed poorly in how they installed and finished the electricity, plumbing, and drywall installation and finish. For an example, the finish on the drywall ceiling in the media room and new bathroom are noticeably poorly done - it is clear that the contractors did not take the time to sand sown the mud on the wal for a clean finish. Perhaps, the most egregious, was a change in plan to the layout and square footage of the bathroom - without the owner's agreement changes were made and installed, leaving the homeowner with a layout that he had not originally agreed to.
