Description of Work: After a housing inspection associated with the sale of our home, we needed to a) find the wiring problem that was preventing a GFI outlet from working (when i changed the outlet that did not solve the problem) b) correct some wiring coming to the main circuit breaker box. The Bell electrician was courteous, explained his work, and was done quickly. His quote to do the work on a not-to-exceed basis was lower than another electrician in Blacksburg.

Description of Work: The electrical panel they put in is labeled haphazardly, with very little useful information. The decision to put in a smaller, secondary panel has led to additional problems. Actually the work was in 2012, but that option was not available.

John, who was the electrician from Bell, was very pleasant, professional and courteous, and patient with all my questions. I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending Bell Electric to others and would call on them again if the need arises.

Description of Work: Negotiated a plan with Steve at Bell Electric in Blacksburg from my home in Chesapeake, approx.300 miles away, to install in my sons home a 30 amp. 120 volt camper service outlet from inside the family home breaker box to the outside of the house complete with weather proof receptacle. Steve summoned one of his highly qualified technicians to the job site and successfully completed the job on time with quality workmanship. I am typing this review from inside the camper in Blacksburg that's electrical power is supplied courtesy of Bell Electric. Thanks to Steve and his crew. They will be contacted soon for some follow-up work.

Description of Work: Over many years Bell Electric has done much rewiring for us. Just this month the electrician took the time to figure out the unusual wiring in an older multi-family building so that he would be sure that the Ground Fault outlets installed in a kitchen would protect as they should. Other electricians working in the same complex have somehow been able to install GFCI outlets in 1/2 the time. From having seen the issues for myself, I sincerely wonder if those guys installed them safely! Bell Electric has come out in winter cold at night to deal with a failing meter box feed making sure that all was sufficiently safe to use until the replacement parts would arrive. I literally feel confident trusting my family's and our tenants' lives to their workmanship. No one is perfect, but these folks sure have always acted as if the wiring they were doing had to fit their personal budgets as well as would be used by their family members. They have taken the time, frequently when they were not charging for the time, to offer what has proved, over the years, to be sound advice. Yes, I would use them again, which is why they are on my speed dial and have given their number to our tenants in case there is an emergency and we can not be reached. Over the last 10 years, we have spent many thousands of dollars on Bell Electric's services. Price per hour may seem high to some folks; however, you get what you pay for! They work efficiently and it is rare that we have any callbacks, which is a big deal since they have been involved with the rewiring of at least 4 units completely and 5 others to a large degree as well as many lighting, switch, and outlet replacements. They think about where switches are placed, unlike one contractor we had who stuck the main switch for a section of a room inside a closet! that lack of thinking made me wonder just how safe the wiring was! Glad Bell Electric came to our rescue to check the rest of the electrical work the other guy had done as a sub-contractor under a remodeling company we hired. Bell Electric is conscious of ecology and built their office building which may still be the "greenest" commercial building in Blacksburg.
