I moved into a newly constructed home in September 2012, and in 2013 wanted to hire a company for an annual lawn fertilization program. Based on the area where I reside, I find it very challenging to locate service providers who will come to my community. For most service providers, my location is "too far". Thus, I was thrilled when I found contact information for Moore's Lawn Care via Google (this company not on AL yet). I contacted Mr. Moore via e-mail in April 2013, and Mr. Moore was prompt in contacting me and coming to my home for an estimate and soil sample. His estimate for an annual program was satisfactory, and I indicated I wanted to hire him for this purpose. His work estimate included application of weed control in the spring, liming, and fertilizing. Per the estimate, Mr. Moore applied weed control on 04/25/2013, and the first round of liming on 05/16/2013. Since this time, however, I have not heard further from him. Mr. Moore was to apply summer fertilizer in June 2013 (no show), additional liming mid-late August (no contact from him yet), and fertilize in September. I have fully paid Mr. Moore for all services rendered so far (weed control in April, liming in May), and am thankful I did not pre-pay for services since he failed to contact me or show up for service in June 2013, and I do not expect to hear further from him. Based on my experience with Mr. Moore, I have since contacted and am in process of hiring another lawncare provider, with the interest of getting on an annual program for my residence. I must say that since relocating to VA from another state about one year ago, I find good service providers in this area far and few between. The work ethic among service providers here does not compare in any way to the service I was accustomed to in my previous state, and I have such a bad taste in my mouth from the businesses here who cry about their customers being too far geographically, or who don't return phone calls/e-mail messages, or who just, hmmm, decide not to show up when they have verbally committed to doing so. Terribly unprofessional. 08/19/2013 Update: On Saturday, 08/17/2013 I received an estimate from a new lawn care provider to get started on an annual lawn maintenace/fertilization/weed and feed program. I apprised this new company that Mr. Moore had applied 400 pounds of lime to my yard in May 2013, due to a low pH soil level. My yard is approximately 0.10 acres, and the new company opined that 400 pounds is more appropriate for a yard of several acres in size, not a yard that is only 0.10 acres. Moreover, the new company speculated that a lime application of this amount likely has contributed to my current lawn issues of patchiness, dead grass in areas, etc. Since I paid Mr. Moore $105 for the lime application in May 2013, if this indeed contributed to or caused my current lawn issues, I truly think a disservice was performed by Moore's Lawn Care. Else, if Mr. Moore did not apply 400 pounds of lime on my yard, by invoicing me for this amount of product I assume I have paid for product applied to another property. Either way, truly disingenuous on the part of Moore's Lawn Care.
