On June 23rd 2021 I hired a company by the name of Virginia Electronics (10975 RICHARDSON RD #A, ASHLAND, VA 23005) (+1 804-798-4570) to repair my faulty Ice Maker. As one would expect, they charged me $125 just to walk in the door. After a quick diagnosis, the young technician, Robert, determined the ice maker needed to be replaced. He ordered a replacement and returned a week or two later to replace it. The ice maker seemed to work for a short period of time, but then stopped again. I called Virginia Electronics back, Robert returned, and attempted to replace some wiring harness… That did not work, so he put the old one back in. Again, the Ice Maker worked for a short period of time and then stopped. For the third time I called VE and they returned again, charging another $125. This time Robert gave me some explanation that the ice maker was fine, but the refrigerator had some type of short that was affecting the ice maker and that he could not fix it. Long story short, I was charged over $450 and I still had a refrigerator with a broken ice maker. But wait, it gets better, I called Sears and they sent out two technicians by the name of Anthony and Kyle. They looked at the ice maker, went back to their shop, grabbed a replacement ice maker and had it replaced and working in less than two hours total. He advised that the ice maker installed by VE was defective and that my refrigerator works just fine… I am unhappy with Virginia Electronics! They took a lot of money from me, sent out an inexperienced technician, lied to me about the ability to repair, but still charged me for fixing absolutely nothing. I do not consider myself a very difficult person, in fact, all I wanted was a properly repaired/replaced ice maker and I was more then willing to pay for it. What I got from Virginia Electronics was a lot of bills, no repairs, and then a refusal to take back and refund their defective ice maker. I guess my advice to those who need an appliance repair is to NOT call Virginia Electronics. They apparently do not guarantee their work, do not accept responsibility for their mistakes, and will charge you an arm and a leg even if they don’t repair your appliance. Buyer Beware!!

I contacted this company thru my home warranty company. They first wanted payment before even completing the assessment. I provided them 100 deductible immediately in order to schedule the appointment. They sent a tech who lacked customer service skills, was very off putting, did not seem to want to be there. When I saw the truck outside he had a smile on his face and when i opened the door he immediately turned his nose up. I asked if he called as I didn't get a 30 min notification that he was arriving. He stated he called and left a message, that he did 10 mins prior to arriving. He came in to assess the microwave, did not really speak, was not personable and walked to the kitchen. He asked me what was wrong with the microwave and I explained it would no longer heat up food. He asked for a cup of water, started the microwave for a couple of seconds and said it was not repairable. He didn't even bother to check. Then said he would write up a report and send it to my home warranty company. Two weeks later, I have heard nothing. I called the warranty company who informed me the technician said that the damage was from a faulty shelf (which by the way wasn't in the microwave, not on the floor, no where in the house) which caused the inside part of the microwave to fail. The warranty wanted and explanation of how this occurred and he could not provide one. Probably because he wrote a scam assessment to collect a check from them and knew he couldn't justify it as he did no work. I immediately call my home warranty who stated they were going to deny the claim as its not normal wear and tear per the technician report (the technician who LIED). I call back to Virginia electronics and speak with the first desk. The manager (Chelsey) initially refused to come to the phone and was relaying messages thru the front desk. I told them I could hear the manager and it was **** poor communication. I demanded to speak to her, She came on the phone and said it was a new hire who needed to learn how to handle these calls. She wouldn't take ownership for the technicians poor work. Attempted to blame me the customer although there was nothing in the microwave to cause it to fail. They attempted to blame it on the accident to it 3 years prior that was covered under the initial warranty by SEARS. When I spoke to the scheduler she stated he wrote it as he was trying to help me out and get my claim approved (by lying). When she realized she was going back and forth she told me to pay more money and request a 2nd opinion. They do not perform the work they are supposed to do and would rather lie instead of doing the work. She disregarded the complaints of the rude technician and his bigoted attitude after seeing a black woman open the door. And told me that was the problem with this country now. Racist bigots are everywhere and steal money by any means. Avoid this scamming *** racist company at all cost.

It took two visits from technicians to get the refrigerator repaired. The first came out and did only a basic analysis of the potential problem. It was over a week before a second technician could come out to make the actual repair. Meanwhile I had a refrigerator that was just barely working for 2 weeks. The second technician was very good. He identified the problem very quickly and repaired it efficiently. My main complaint is it just took so long to get the work done.

This is a follow-up to my review 6/6/2015. There is much more to add as the whole ordeal lasted 6 weeks and 3 days! The manager who is also the owner of the repair company would never return our calls and speak to me or my husband about his technician breaking my cooktop when he came to repair the oven. This owner lied to manufacturer and the Better Business Bureau-I have the letter- stating that my cooktop was cracked when his tecnician arrived at my house. This was a flat out lie. I have the proof. Problem was we could not make contact with this owner to let him know what had occurred during the appointment. Because the manufacturer chose to believe the repair company's claim instead of my side of the story, despite my immediately calling and reporting the technician and the incident, the manufacturer voided my warranty leaving me with a 6 month old, $2000, completely non-functioning range. I had no choice, but to seek legal assistance. The lawyer chose to contact the manufacturer vs Virginia Elec, saying the repair company was an agent of the manufacturer-that is who was used for their warranty repairs. Outcome was that the manufacturer agreed to repair my range at no cost. Worst part is they sent Virginia Elec again despite our objections. Owner sent his son out. Very professional & competent. Took 3 visits to complete job. He apologized about the incident, stated the technician was "reprimanded." That's funny because supposedly he "never touched" my range, according to the owner. Lawyer cost me $325.00. One last note-the owner called my house to schedule the final repair. There was no apology or any mention of what we had gone through. I took the opportunity to say I had been waiting since May 29th for a call from him. He stated that he returned our calls and that neither me nor my husband answered our phones. We have caller id and an answering machine, nor did I leave this house on the Fri of the incident or the following Monday. I argued-could not help it-he then laughed, said, "whatever mam" and hung up on me. THIS IS the OWNER of the repair company,Tim Cundiff. Very dissapointing that a business can come into my home for a repair, damage my property, lie about it, and get away with it. And he keeps his good rating with the BBB because he responded to my complaint to them. The response did not have to be truthful.

Technician cracks the cook top while moving the slide-in range in order to do the oven repair. He says nothing. Pushes the range partially back into place and takes pictures of the cracked cook top. Without ever mentioning the crack he then asks me to sign a waiver saying he cannot be responsible for what the crack will do when he gets into the unit. After asking him "what crack", he tells me it was cracked when he arrived. On two occasions we were both in the kitchen looking at the range. One of those times the range was pulled out from the counter enough for us to look behind it at the floor to see the power connection. The cook top was not cracked at either of these times. As this was a warranty call I immediately notified the manufacturer about this so there would be a record to follow up with and to let them know how this repair co. was behaving. Here's where the real problems start. After the technician leaves I hear nothing from the repair co. about the incident. I had to call them. Repeated calls were left to have the manager call me. This all took place on a Fri. On Monday I call the repair co. to find out what is happening and to ask again that the manager call me. They are waiting to hear back from the manufacturer. I never hear anything back from them. On following up with the manufacturer that same day I am told the claim and pictures sent in by the repair co. show "physical damage" to my range and since the technician never touched the unit my warranty has been voided. When was anyone going to call and let me know this? We are now 1 week and 1 day from this incident with no resolution. One brief phone call occurred between my husband and the manager with nothing resolved. The manager acted like he didn't know what was going on. He was supposed to have gotten back in touch with my husband later that same day after talking to the technician , but did not. A week later and he is now going to talk with the technician???? Worst service call ever, worst customer service-actually there is none! This whole incident could have have been resolved very easily if there had been a proper response when this occurred. Breaking the cook top is not the problem here, it's the behaviors and actions after.

It went well. He was only supposed to do an evaluation and there was supposed to be another cost depending. It was such a minor thing that he was able to fix it on the spot and only charged a service call. He was able to diagnose it and fix it very quickly.

It took me about 6-7 days to finally get a technician out to my house via Samsung. To Samsung's credit, they extended to me a one-time warranty extension because we only had the washer for 13 months when it broke the first time. The technician pulled the washer out from the wall, tipped it backwards, and crawled up underneath to fix a wire he said was broken. After that, the washer began to work again. He did not leave me any paperwork or any way to contact them again. It has now been one month to the day that they "fixed" my washer. Starting almost immediately, it seemed that the spin cycle was louder than normal. It got progressively louder, and last night it completely broke. During the spin cycle, it seemed the basket stopped spinning but the motor was still going full-speed and extremely loud. I ran up and turned it off. There was water underneath and when we lifted it up to look underneath, there were bits of broken plastic and pieces hanging from the bottom. Called Samsung. They were unwilling to open the case back up but did give me a troubleshooting transaction number. I called Virginia Electronics to see if they could come back out and stand behind their repairs, but they refused and told me that Samsung would have to issue a new repair number (which I was told they did) and that I would have to pay for it. I would be more than willing to pay a trip charge if they would repair what wasn't fixed properly the first time. I read some unhappy comments on other websites about this company and should have trusted my gut instinct. They do not stand behind their work and are not reliable people to do business with.

i would highly recommend reading the settlement agreement closely and request all capacitors are replaced if you have to deal with samsung and request electronic doctors or another vendor not va electronics (no voicemail, email, and curt reps)
Description of Work: we have a samsung tv that had issues with starting. it is a big issue worldwide and deals with capacitors (google it if you have issues with samsung). if your model falls in the settlement group you get free service to repair. samsung sent this company for repairs. first, i waited for a few days and contacted them. finally set an appointment. the tech they sent needed a bath, he smelled. he did the repair but replaced only two capacitors and the settlement said all capacitors to be replaced and then the power board if needed. the tv worked 10 minutes and then started going on and off. called the company, they said we needed a main board 282 plus labor and that would fix it. i had to argue with samsung and they agreed they should have replaced all the capacitors and then the power board first. but va elect said no, we only replace the bad ones, which they are two. i told them, how do you know the others are not bad, the tech did not test the board at all. va elect response the tech knows and has been doing this for years, he just knows. i complained to samsung and they agreed the va elect did not follow the settlement and did not do a good job. samsung agreed to send electronic doctors to replace the power board and after another two weeks of clarification from samsung they came and replaced all the capacitors, tested the board and then the tv did not work again, did a few more tests and the ribbon cable was not connected properly on the mainboard from the power board (did the va elect tech do this on purpose, maybe can't prove it but there was no reason for it to be not connected properly)/ with the cable attached properly and all capacitors replaced, the tv is working again without any issues. i would highly recommend reading the settlement agreement closely and request all capacitors are replaced if you have to deal with samsung and request electronic doctors or another vendor not va electronics (no voicemail, email, and curt reps)

I made an appointment on May 31, 2012 to have my Samsung dryer belt replaced over the phone with Stacey from VA Electronics. The appointment was scheduled for June 4, 2012. I was required to give my credit card # for a mandatory deposit of $99.00. They NEVER showed up to do the work. When I called, I was told that thye had forgotten and was given the option to reschedule or have the $99.00 refunded by check. I chose to get a refund. I was promised a check by Friday, June 8, 2012. It is July 3, 2012 and I have never recieved my refund of $99.00. I have had to now try and go through my bank for a stop payment.

I bought a Samsung over the range microwave, as well as a Samsung induction range on 12/29/09. In The summer of 2010 I had trouble with both appliances. Under warranty, Samsung directed me to Virginia Electronics. The gentleman came, and "fixed" both appliances on two separate visits. Unfortunately, neither problem was fixed, and reoccurred in the fall. They came out and "fixed" the induction range (the same problem is reoccurring again), but never came to fix the microwave. When my warranty was going to expire, I called them, and asked what had happened. They said Samsung had not shipped the part, so they dropped my order without a word to me. I called Samsung. They extended my warranty. In January 2011 Virginia Electronics called and said we were back on their schedule. That was the last time I heard from them. Luckily, I have an extended warranty from HH Gregg on both appliances. I hope that since they don't use Virginia Electronics, I will get them fixed this year.

Dishonest and disreputable. They were too dishonest to even perform the job they were supposed to do. Do NOT use them.
Description of Work: Do NOT use this company. It is dishonest and disreputable. This company was assigned to me by Samsung to fix a microwave that is still under warranty. They failed to come out to fix my microwave and then they lied about why they didn't come out. First, they lied about Samsung canceling the warranty fix request (Samsung told me that the company canceled the repair job.) Second, They came up with a cockamamie lie about trying to call my cell phone number and that the number was "disconnected" -- even though they left me a voicemail message on my cell phone on the exact same day that they claimed that they called and the number was disconnected. When I told them they were lying and that I would report them to Angie's List, the company representative with whom I was speaking, Deidre, said, "Awesome. Go for it!" So, you use this company at your own risk.
