First few went ok but the techs had no idea how to treat Virginia Button weed or wild violets. They had to make multiple service trips to address the issue with no results. Then they skipped the July service and if I hadn't called them they would have skipped the August service as well. Now we are in October and no service has been received since the August service. Trugreen appears to be a complete rip off as they only respond when I complain to their corporate office. The local office operators just say they will look into it and nothing happens.

Fair - quality of technicians providing service was not always good, and they kept changing who came out. The lawn looks a little bit better I guess, but expected a better result after 8 treatments.

We have some sort of a plan. You know they come out about 7 or 9 times a year. I don't know what all they do. They are doing a fantastic job. Our lawn looks fantastic. I don't know the kids name now, maybe John. He is so good too. He makes sure everything is done.

Sometimes they do things different. They did two things but I don't know what they did. He is so good with our lawn. So freindly. Always comes and says hello and tells us what he will do. If I am not home, he will leave it on the door. He is a nice young man. I think it is John. I will definitely. Much better than the last provider.

Actually I'm out of the contract, I'm not through them anymore. I wouldn't say anything unproven, I was using Scott's for three years, I think TruGreen bought over the Scott's, so far, if I want to rate, I want to rate Scott's. I haven't seen any improvement, I would say I want the lowest grade for Scott's. Pricing is not bad. It's $55 per treatment.

Excuses, excuses, excuses. After 14 years of do it yourself lawn maintenance, I opted to hire a professional lawn care service to improve my lawn. After the first year's service, my looked the worst it ever looked. The manager stated that due to the extremely hot summer my lawn was stressed and should be in much better shape with another year's service (note I have a professionally installed irrigation system). After another year of service, my lawn looked worse than the previous year. This year's excuse was that the summer was extremely wet. Letters to the Corporate Office didn't help the situation. I fired Scotts. They don't guaranty their work, wasted my money and just wanted to dump more chemicals on the lawn. Don't waste your money!

Called in early March to inquire about services. Decided to move forward. First service was in early April -- 3-4 week's after hiring, but OK, felt it was a late spring this year and they were busy. I had a call a couple of times but they finally came out. It was raining when arrived and they applied the fertilizer but technician said they would have to come back to apply the weed control. OK fine, can't argue about that. Two-weeks later, nada. Called the number. Asked them when they were coming back to finish up. Said they would create a ticket. A week later, nada (now 3-weeks after). Called again. Response was ticket was created *only* a week ago. Really? It's nearly May. 3 weeks after the initial applications. Weeds now in full force. I hired you in early March. Apparently lack of response is OK? They wanted payment immediately however! Unfortunately I was prompt in payment albeit I didn't receive all my services. Glad I didn't pay for the full year up-front. Would not recommend, will be cancelling.

After 3 years of receiving their services, while the lawn had improved I expected better results and decided to start researching what other companies were available & reading their reviews on Angie's List. I also checked out reviews for Scott's on Angie's & discovered others had the same feelings I was experiencing with Scott's, so I decided to go with another lawn care provider.

The only time they schedule visits is if you have a locked gate or an outside dog. I understand that for treatments but I am a new customer who isn't even sure if they could get grass to grow in every area of my backyard. I have no way of knowing without speaking to someone in person and showing them my areas of concern. The person I spoke to was more than rude and short and definitely did not seem interested in getting a new customer. I've heard good things about Scott's Quality of Yard Service but I couldn't even get that far in the process.
Description of Work: Wasn't even able to get service. I called to have someone come out and look at my lawn since I just bought a house and the back yard had almost no grass and all weeds. They sent someone out without me knowing and called to say someone would be back to start putting stuff down in a day or two and that it was $45 a month. I explained I wasn't ready to commit because I had some questions I wanted to ask regarding my lawn. The person who called was not the person who went to the house. I said I wanted to be there when someone came by so they could address my concerns. They said okay and would call me back. One week later I was told someone would be coming to put down a treatment the next day. I said I hadn't signed up for anything yet I just wanted a consultation. They said the consultation is done just before the application. Long story short I told them I wanted a one on one consultation before I signed up to go over my concerns and they very rudely said that they did not do that.

They do what they say they are going to do, like spray for weeds and they take care of that problem, they fertilize and they come out if I have a problem even if they are not schedule just to take care of the problem. The people seem to be knowledgeable; they want to talk to you if you are there. I think their price is fair and they provide all kinds of services like seeding, aerating and they do even tree service and keep my trees healthy and they are getting too big which needed to stopped. It is a park tree not a back yard tree.

This company provided extremely poor results for lawn fertilization and weed control last year, lawn became a weed field, so when they called to ask to renew, I declined. I had a lengthy conversation with the representative describing why, and thought that would be the end of it. The next season, they came anyway and did the first treatment, leaving a bill at the door. I called them to remind them that the service had been discontinued. The person who answered the phone said they had no record of this. A week or two later, I received an invoice for the unwanted service. I called, but the person said the invoice must be paid. I said it was not authorized. Representative did not care much about that. Today, I received a collection notice from a third party agency demanding payment. This company is utterly unprofessional, would not recommend.

When Margie was our technician, things went extremely well. However, after she was promoted, I struggled through several seasons to get proper service for my lawn. The health of the grass deteriorated quickly, and a new stand of weeds -- especially nut sedge and violets -- took hold. My Scott's contract stated they would come at no extra charge in between regularly scheduled visits to spray for problem weeds. The technician was called, and a card was left saying the spraying had been done. The weeds were unaffected and continued growing. Because service has been so good under Margie, I probably took too long to cancel once it began to go wrong. I decided to ask that the technician come when I was at home so I could be certain he saw and sprayed the weeds needing treatment. The technician came and went without ringing my doorbell, but left another hang tag saying the weeds had been treated. Again, no change in the weeds. This happened one or two more times. Finally, I marked the weed patches with orange flags so they couldn't be missed. That didn't work either. My neighbor saw the Scott's guy at my house and said, "He couldn't have been there for more than two minutes." This was the time allocated to "treat" weed problems in about 8,000 sf of lawn. I called Scott's again and emphasized that I needed the technician to speak with me before he did any spraying at my house. I didn't want the weeds to continue being missed. As we walked around the yard, I pointed out the areas that needed treatment, and he still was cavalier about spraying properly. He walked right past patches of weeds I'd reported as problems and didn't even spray some of them at all! Several contacts with Scott's local management team resulted in no improvement to the service I was receiving. They ultimately agreed to give me a partial refund of my lawn maintenance fees, and I cancelled the service. Now they're calling back asking me to hire them again. Seriously?

No services were rendered and never received a callback or any form of contact from them. Interesting part is that my neighbor across the street has Scotts and have seen him service their lawn. Oh well, must be too big or busy to keep track of potential customers. Give my business to someone else!
Description of Work: They have not done anything nor will they in the future. I submitted a request for an estimate which would be completed in 7-10 business days from the date of my request (6/25/13) and have have not received a call, txt, email, smoke signal nothing!

Disclaimer: Let me begin by saying it might not be this branch of Scott's that provided our estimate. Regardless, it was a Scott's employee who provided me with a price. The salesman pulled up near my driveway and rang the doorbell. He stated that my grass needed help and he could provide it with no money needed today. For the treatment he was planning, it would cost 41/mo. If we wanted to aerate the front and bring in an entirely new set of grass, because he didn't like my current grass, it would cost around 200 FOR JUST THE FRONT! Understand, the front of my house is rather small, so I sort of chuckled to myself when he said this. Keep in mind, I didn't ask him for his opinion or want it really. He randomly pulled up, said my grass was in really bad shape, which I disagree with, and he could "save" it with his fertilizer, aerating, and plugging. To make matters worse, he was extremely rude and condescending. I sent him packing, not after he made me feel like I had made a huge mistake and my lawn would suffer. I'd rather give my money away than hire Scott's!

After we established the schedule with Scotts, there was a short gap in time before they started, because the fall season was upon us and the first applications of lime and winterization had to take place. They called in the beginning about when the would come out, but after that they came and went without speaking with us first. That has its good and bad points. Good that you did not have to keep track of them coming and bad, that if things were not done as expected, that you often would miss taking to the person doing the work. They are responsive and did come out, but their products did not keep out the weeds and after a year of calling them back and talking about the different weeds that were taking hold in the it became very painful. Often on a retreat an application, would leave the weed standing with a patch of yellow grass surrounding it. The problem was so dramatic, we asked them not to come back, that we had to completely redo the lawn starting in August after their last treatment fail to do the job. The lawn is still not right as the weeds that took hold were hardy and proliferous. We are still trying to undo, what was done in that year.
Description of Work: 1. They gave us an estimate of the cost of treating our lawn using Scotts products. 2. Over and above their treatment plan, we had to pay for services such as the purchase and spreading of grub-x, pelleted lime etc. 3. We had a year contract with Scotts Lawn Service, which included regularly schedules applications of their products, performed at various intervals according to seasonal changes etc. 4. They performed their scheduled duties without andy additional input from us. 5. If called about an application failure, they would respond by reapplication, etc. 6. They did not always perform their duties at the most appropriate times (even if a big storm was looming or if it was already raining, they would put a treatment down, which made me wonder about the effectiveness of there product application methods..

It was a huge mistake using Scotts. They came out sporadically, did not get rid of the weeds and would hardly ever answer the phone or return calls. I had to call them several times for weed control which service callse were supposed to be included if we found any weeds but they seemed to be offended when we did put in a service call. Everytime they were supposed to do the aeration, something else had to be done or there was another excuse. The only thing it seems they really did was fertilize. They never got rid of the big plugs or many other weeds, they caused more and larger bald spots in areas where there were none and they were extremely nonresponsive. When I did get in touch with someone, it was someone different each time and they would enevitably say about the other, well I don't know why they "told you that" or "did that". My lawn was supposed to be aerated in Sep/OCT but they came and treated for weeds when they were not supposed to. I had to call several times for the aeration and it still has not been done. It seems that this guy would come about every 4-6 weeks, fertilize and leave a new bill. They told us that we were behind on the bill but had not performed the services they were supposed to. They never said that they did not do the service for that reason, it simply had not been done. We did not pay when they did not respond. We ended up having to go to their office to get anyone to talk to us. To this day the aeration still has not been completed, I will do ithat myself, and I not only have weeds but mushrooms and many bald spots. On my last trip there, I spoke with the office manager and requested a refund. She said that she would talk to "the boss" and get back with us, but either she or the boss would call but someone definitely would. No one has called us, I have to do the aeration, and we basically paid over $400.00 to have our lawn fertilized. They told us on the 26th of OCT that someone would call us right back; still no call. TODAY is 17 November -Now I find out today that they lied and said it was not too late to do the aeration. checked with home depot and was told that the aeration, this late would probably freeze and kill my roots. I had a phone conversation with the serviceman who was supposed to provide the service PAUL, who finally called me about the previous screw ups while I was at a social event during a business trip. He was very rude and offended that complained and got loud and rude with me on the phone to the point that it turned into a yelling match. That was never addressed by the owner/manager and still have not received a phone call. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!!!
Description of Work: I had an estimate done on my yard to get rid of several types of weeds, fill in some areas that were thin and thicken my lawn overall and make it greeener. I was garunteed by scotts that they would take care of all of the weeds to include the thick plugs of grass that cause a lot of the smaller bald spots. They also recommended fertilizer, aeration and seeding. The person I dealt with was Paul. he even gave me a money back garuntee.

I didn't realize that they had been bought up by another company. I though it was kind of expensive. They kept calling me about signing up for a yearly thing, but I said no because I am retired and I cannot afford that anymore. An hour later, this lady called saying she wanted to do better on the price. When people do that to me, it's like used car salesmen, they should have given me their best price the first time so I'm sure not going to use them. I just used them for the one time application and it worked fine.
Description of Work: I just used Tru green for the one time application of fertilizers.
