JES Foundation Repair

Wonderful. Crew was on time and very efficient. Area was left super clean and tidy and will make the next phase of Thai larger em dilation project go smoothly. The crew informed me of what they were going to do and invited me to inspect it when they finished. They provided safety information so as to keep me and my family healthy. Great bunch of hard working pros.

Arrived on time and were polite and professional. Roberto and Jose kept me informed throughout the project and answered any questions that I had. After the project was complete, they cleaned up very well and we’re very considerate of my home. I highly recommend this company.

Very professional. Montola G., the foreman called me at least a couple hours in advance of their arrival to give me an approximate arrival time. When I arrived Montola introduced be to his co-foreman, Thomas M., and installer, Kelvin J. As I shared, all were very professional and completed the work efficiently and timely. Their attention to the details and clean up were complimentary to their profession and JES.

Extremely well. EVERYONE involved in the process performed very professionally and also took the time to assist me in making the decisions necessary to complete the process in a timely and constructionally proper manner. I could not have asked for anymore.

The two man crew (Montola G, Foreman and Kelvin J.) were punctual and professional. Montola was extremely competent and was helpful beyond the work he did to spray the crawlspace with mold killer/retardant, by letting me know what to expect next from the JES installation crew. Kelvin J. was very helpful and provided excellent support to the Foreman. The job was done efficiently and, since I inspected the crawlspace the next day, it was done thoroughly. They also took away all the bags I had filled with old insulation that they had room for. Montola and Kelvin represented JES well and we look forward to the remaining project work.

From the initial appointment with Barry to the work performance (Otto, Justin and Justin) to the final inspection handled by Tamesha, the entire experience was great. Very professional and responsive team.

Great result, great price (thousands less than competitors). Timely, professional, courteous, efficient, JES experts, the Monell brothers, Kade and James, assessed our difficult situation, made adjustments, and provided great result!

This was a fairly major job to support the foundation. I had noticed a number of vertical cracks in two foundation walls in the “crawl space” - the space is nearly six feet high at its tallest. The house was built in Hanover county in 1992. I contacted JES and the appointment was made promptly, conveniently, and the technician was on time and highly professional. He did an extensive analysis inside and out and found that the foundation was settling down almost 2 inches toward the back left of the house. He discussed all of the options to fix the problem, and we settled on the push piers since the are permanent and reliable. Not the cheapest solution, but the best. This is serious business not to be trifled with. The work was done on schedule and also very professionally. There was little if any disruption to our daily routine. Five piers were placed around the lower left corner, and appropriate building inspector certification by the county was done. All work was done outside, none in the crawl space. When finished there was almost no sign that they had been there- except that the foundation was secured. They even replanted a large 20 year old rhododendron that had to be moved to do the work, and it is still alive in the middle of summer 5 months later. I fully endorse this company, and please don’t believe any negative reviews you might read. JES is the best. I am having trouble entering the cost - it was around $11,000.00 - money well spent.

Rep was personable enough, but tried to sell me thousands of dollars in products and services that I did not need, and used his advanced diagnostic system to try to convince me that my home was in imminent danger. I had 2 other companies well-rated on Angie's List come out and assess the cracks, and was told each time that they were minor settling cracks, and not an issue structurally. JES called to follow up, and I asked them if their reps are paid by commission, to which they responded in the affirmative. I told him that I didn't appreciate the high-pressure sales tactics (I was told that, when they gave me a quote, I had to respond before the rep left in order to get the quoted price, etc.) I told the calling rep that, if we needed their product (foundation jacks) in the future, I would call them because it was the best tool for the job, not because I was pressured and scared into purchasing it.

JES submitted a creative and affordable solution, but the JES engineer assigned to the job left the company before the job was finished. Though the job turned out well, and we were very satisfied, we had to do much of the overseeing and work checking ourselves. The work site was not neatly maintained (e.g., tools all over the place). The completion of the job was not done in a timely manner, but that was somewhat understandable given the personnel turnover. Given the high quality of the work, I was tempted to give a grade of A, but I just couldn't because of the reasons just mentioned.

The electricians that JES sent out from Gault Electric were not as knowledgeable as the rest of the JES crew. They had the right equipment with them, but were confused about where to install it. They could not answer questions about the permits and overall made me feel uneasy. Their level of competence is questionable in my opinion.

JES gave me a price of $14,600. I had another company give me an estimate and they said I didn't need to do anything.

Joshua, our personnel technician, was courteous, knowledgeable and explained everything thoroughly.

Great, he laser lined it and it was in spec. Also checked under house and was satified it was ok. Saved us $9000, based on another company. Wouldnt hesitate to use again.

There were signs of foundation movement on our home – cracks by doors and sticking windows, - but we weren’t sure of the extent. We contacted the JES and BDry who sent inspectors. To our pleasant surprise, each inspector did not believe the damage he saw warranted their services. I want to commend each of them for their professional evaluation and would not hesitate to contact either of them again.

They did an excellent job. It was like a 3 days job. The crew was absolutely great. It was quite expensive. Their work was guaranteed.

Overall, we are VERY disappointed and feel like we were ripped off for the amount of money we put into having our home repaired in a timely and professional manner. The work was scheduled to take 3-4 days. We were told by the JES salesman before we purchased any services AND by the foreman working on site that the crew would work full days until the job was complete (including Saturday if needed). The first day (Thursday) was ok. A crew of 3 workers arrived at 8:30am and worked until 4:30pm. They raised the chimney and told us that we would need to find a way to close the remaining gap (which is still significant). We were told that the chimney is now permanently stabilized, but that it's the house is not vertically straight and resulting in the remaining gap. Even though we are paying to have both the chimney and the foundation raised, they told us we will have to hire someone else to close the gap. The second day (Friday), the crew left at 3:30pm. The foreman on site told us they would return the next day (Saturday) to continue the project. We canceled plans we had made in order to be at the house to oversee the project...however, no one showed up. The crew of 3 workers returned on Monday and Tuesday and worked until 4:30 and 5pm both days. On Tuesday, we were told the project was going to take longer than expected to complete. We were told we had to call the main office to let them know we wanted the workers to continue working on our house until the project was complete (otherwise, they would have been assigned to their next foundation repair job, leaving our house incomplete). On Wednesday, the “last” and final day, additional workers came and worked alongside the original crew all day. Another crew arrived after 4pm to ensure the project was complete before dark. All of these men worked until 7:30pm that final day. They broke a vent under the house and would have left it broken if we hadn't said something before they left and had them fix it before they left. Bottom line...we paid over $22,000 for foundation and chimney repair services by JES. We are VERY disappointed with the overall service. We called and let the main office know all of these concerns, however nothing has been done to rectify the poor quality service for the amount of money we were willing to pay for timely and professional service. DO NOT USE JES unless you are willing to pay a higher cost for poor customer service and a company who does not rectify things when they go wrong. We are very disappointed with the overall service and feel like we were jipped for the amount of money we paid. We were sold professional service by the salesman, but feel like we have gotten anything but that. We would NOT recommend JES to ANY of our friends or family. We were also told we would be able to get a $50 restaurant gift card as part of a promotion they were doing, however we have yet to see that and it's been a week since the service ended.

Salesman was very knowledgeable. The salesman spent time with me and spent time looking at my house. Very nice. He tried to save me some money by making our visit the last estimate so they could price match. I had problems getting estimates from other companies then had to save up some $$. So I haven't gotten repair work done and never had them give me an estimate because I had to reschedule. It was good initially for them to contact me about rescheduling; however for about 1 month they called me almost every couple of days - sometimes 2 different people called in the same day to reschedule a time for my estimate. My work schedule is not conducive to business hours so I wasn't able to answer their calls right away. The extra calls were a little annoying. Once I was able to get in touch (fault on my end) with them to let them know I wasn't able to reschedule the calls stopped. I have had work done by them before and had an excellent experience. Once I get extra $ I will most likely go with them for my repairs.

Wonderful! Very professional crews. Felt comfortable with workers being in house. The two different crews did excellent work, communicating along the way. Very happy with the results of both crews.

Quote seemed somewhat expensive.

Mark was very personable and did a thorough inspection of the crawl. I could hear him under there going through every spot. He took photos and showed them to me on his computer. There was no high-pressured sales pitch, he answered questions with ease, and sent me the estimate the next day. JES' estimate was for a very nice product - 20 mil thick encapsulation and rigid foam insulation on the walls. The detail was very thorough. I'm felt confident of JES' ability to encapsulate our crawl very well if we were in the market for such a solution.

I can't believe these people. It is the same scenario as last time. JES said TWICE they would do the work I contracted them to do on Sep 22,23, and 24. I took vacation from work to be here during those days. They sent someone on Sep 22; my floor was tore up in one room. Nobody was sent on the 23rd. The job is partially completed and they didn't show up when they said they were going to. I can only imagine this is the same way they would like to be treated if any of their employees have to hire a contractor. If anyone ever signs a contract with these people GET a date in writing. Put some penalty clause in the contract as well that penalizes them if they do not show up on these dates. I wish I had.

The work crew showed up on time both days, did a good job and were polite. There was some mess left under the house, but overall the work was done correctly and in a timely manner.

Excellent customer service! JES called to schedule an estimate almost before I could finish requesting it on-line, and called with reminders before visits by the estimator and crew. The estimator and the work crew came on time and called about an hour before arriving each time. I appreciate the estimator providing all information the day of his visit so I didn't have to wait for the estimate or follow up paperwork. The installation work itself took 2 days, one week apart. Footings were dug and gravel laid the first day, with concrete and jacks done the second day. The crew worked straight through with only a break for lunch both days, and it was brutally hot the second day. They went the extra mile by reserving AND spreading some excavated dirt in some low spots beside the foundation, and did a great job cleaning up, even rolling up the garden hose. They installed 6 jacks under the main support beam, and from its lowest point, I believe they raised the floor about 1/4 inch. Hopefully this will prevent additional cracks and nail pops in the walls and ceiling, and keep the hardwood floors from shifting any further. They also installed a cross beam and jack under the kitchen island space to support a future stone counter top. Kevin and his crew were great and he was exceptionally friendly and professional. The price may seem a little high, but I researched and couldn't find another company in my area that installs jacks on footings. I feel that having the concrete footings will be a more permanent solution than having jacks sitting directly on the soil.
