Overrall it went awesomely! I feel the above comments explain how it went!
Description of Work: Mr. Stone of Energy Max Solutions arrived quite on time. He was very professional and displayed excellent knowledge when he performed my interior attic inspection with a thermal camera scan. I greatly appreciated his grading of my EShield product and suggestions of improvement. His opinion of my attic was good, and he did not try to sell me anything extra. His expertise was greatly appreciated. The attic door tent thrilled me to no end. I am planning on further improvements to my home. His knowledge, professionalsim, manners, and assurance of reasonable costs have convinced me to consider his company when I do proceed.

Simon from the company was prompt and performed a quick and detailed inspection of the crawl space under the kitchen and great room as well as a very quick albeit lacking total detail of the ceiling crawl space. The good deal advertised $149 for $500 worth of work. However, the proposal to insulate the areas came in between 1200 and $3500 depending on the amount of insulation. Since I was expecting the costs around the $500, I did not take further action, but requested a refund of my original good deal which I received promptly from Angie's List office. I would ask for a proposal from the company except I would be more prepared for higher costs than stated in the good deal.

An appointment was set up for someone to come out and inspect the crawl space. He was on time, very polite, inspected the crawl space and emailed an estimate later that day. We accepted their estimate and they started the insulation project within the week. It ended up taking a day longer than anticipated and they needed an extra person to complete the job but did not charge extra. They were so neat and tidy, we weren't sure at first that they had been there. My husband got under the house to inspect what they did and he was very pleased with their work. Also, we have defintely noticed a decrease in our heating costs. We would have no problems in using their services again.
Description of Work: We had insulation put in our crawl space which included a fairly large area.

I took the 'deal' just to get the attic tent. The sales pitch for additional services was intense though I realize that was part of the 'deal'. After further research, I realize that I could have purchased that model tent myself without further assistance. I would have saved over half. Having already done a home energy audit, I wasn't interested in that. My mistake.

Jared was very patient with us while deciding how much work we wanted to tackle. He gave us a good bid and was willing to work with us to meet our cost target. The workers were very courteous and professional. We have 4 dogs and were concerned about their safety during construction. The workers were very respectful of our concerns and became good friends with the dogs. The quality of the work was excellent and I would not hesitate to use them again.

Jared Stone of Energy Max was punctual and very professional, performing the energy audit of our attic with the latest equipment. We were very pleased with his thoroughness and the feedback that we received. As the result of his audit and his knowledge in answer to our numerous questions, we decided to have additional work done by his company.

We were easily able to set up a convenient time for the work to be performed in our attic. We received a discount for Angie's List subscribers in addition to a comparable discount for confirmation prior to the end of the year. We researched the energy foil product on the Internet before going forward. We were impressed by the answers to our numerous questions prior to confirmation of our order. Sedric and his installation crew were punctual, took precautions to protect our home as they set up their equipment. The installers took the extra step of insulating the "trap door" covering that leads to our attic through our pantry which has eliminated the draft through that area. They left everything in such perfect order that there was no evidence when they finished that any work had been done in the house that day. The same describes the installation of the Rhino Guard gutter protection. Even though we had contracted for the second of three quality levels of gutter guards, Energy Max realized that they had insufficient inventory to complete the order at that time and instead installed the highest of the three quality levels with no additional charge. We are completely satisfied with our experience with Energy Max Solutions and would highly recommend them to others. We are now looking forward to our 25%-30% decrease in our energy bill which will help us recoup the cost of this upgrade rather quickly.
Description of Work: Energy Max Solutions installed energy foil on our attic rafters and blew in R-19 cellulose insulation to raise our current attic insulation R-level from R-19 to R-38 which is guaranteed to cut our utility bill by 25-30%. In addition, we had Energy Mac Solutions install Rhino Guard gutter protection to the rain gutters on the exterior of our house.

Response from Energy Max Solutions
I am sorry this customer felt all he did was pay for a work estimate. That is not the result this coupon was intended to generate. Upon arrival at the customers home I explained what he bought, what I was there to do and went to work. He explained to me that his biggest concern for the roof and attic was the water damage around the skylight that had happened at an earlier time. I took all the readings that would indicate any moisture present and performed a thermal scan. I then did the additional testing and probing that came with the report. There was less than a 4% moisture content on the roof deck of the customers roof and no visible signs of moisture other than some of his existing insulation around the area of concern was moldy and full of mildew. Also his existing duct work was separating and was in need of replacement. His current insulation was found to be an R-30 and surely within the DOE standards. I recommended for a greater comfort level he build it up to an R-38. I left him with the report that I generated while I was there which was included in the coupon price as well as an estimate to replace the duct, pull out the moldy insulation and build up the current good R-30 to an R-38. This is clearly what the coupon states. We strive hard at Energy Max Solutions to provide the best customer service with the best price possible for the work we recommend. I am sorry he was not satisfied with what he was provided and will try to contact him to see what we can do to better his experience.

They came out and gave me an estimate for upgrading my attic insulation. It's basically a discount off the upgrade, which means you spend $1000 instead of $1500. Not really what I was looking for. The company was responsive and the sales rep was professional. The tactics to enter a new market area, a bit questionable - with the discount thing and all. Getting a big deal refund from Angie's List was a pain in the butt. Won't be doing that again!
Description of Work: Bought the big deal for insulation at half price - however, this wasn't really what it was. They basically are experts in estimating roofing and insulation needs - then they subcontract to a insulator or roofer, and you pay the pass through costs while they supervise the work. So you pay for their expertise and oversight of the subs. I felt the price premium was too high given all the discounts and such, thus the <bad> grade on price. They were excellent on all other facets.

The gentleman was very friendly. But, when he came in he didn't remove his shoes. Then he did his measuring, but, when he looked into the attic he didn't lay a cloth down or clean up the insulation that fell when he was done. He gave us our estimate & then left.

First appointment was with Jared and Warren for the proposal and estimate. They spent two hours going over all the options. The estimate was written on the spot. There was no high pressure selling just the pros and cons on the best way to insulate the attic. Second appointment was with Cedric, the insulation project manager and others who came to evaluate the attic. Just to make sure everything was in order before starting the job. It also gave me a second chance to ask more questions and go over the proposal again. Third appointment was with the spray form contractors. Again, Cedric was there to answer more questions but most importantly, to ensure the job was done correct. The final appointment was the next day with the blown-in insulation contractors and with Cedric again. Cedric spent the entire two days working with the contractors so mistakes or misunderstandings were kept to a minimal. From the first appointment to the last day, everyone was on time. All were polite and professional. They were very respectful in my home. One mistake was made in regard to a bathroom fan but we found a fix for it. The other mistake was on my part. On the day the spray form contractors arrived, I realized the attic fan was not working. Cedric double check for me and yes, the fan needed to be replaced. I chose not to have the spray form applied over the attic fan. Hopefully, next year I will be able to report savings on my bills.
Description of Work: Attic Insulation: We used a combination of opened cell spray form insulation and blown-in cellulose insulation for a R-38 value. The house is 64 years old, ranch style, one level, slab, approximately 1600 square feet. The main concern was the water pipes which are located in the attic. When the temperature drops to 15 degrees, the pipes freeze. All exposed water pipes were also insulated. The spray form was applied to the roof deck. Baffles were installed over the ridge vent and any other openings before the spray form was applied. This allows the house to continue breathing. Insulated covers were installed over the recessed lights before blowing in the cellulose. Upon completion, a tent cover was installed over the attic opening.

Simon came and gave us an estimate for three different levels of insulation and addition of thermal barrier, which we did not go with. Scheduled with them after a few phone calls and they had a subcontractor come in and do the job about a week later. Overall, they did a great job and probably put in more insulation than we had asked. We would use them again.

The service level, puctuality and professionalism exhibited by all of the staff at Energy Max was second to none. Simon gave me a price and he stuck to it. He held my hand (proverbially) through the entire process, always answered the phone (even when it was after hours), and worked with me to make sure I got exactly what I needed and wanted. The installers showed up on time and installed the product in less than a day, and they took great care to make sure everything went beautifully. This was a wonderful experience, all around!
Description of Work: As a person in the middle of the remodel that went sideways, this was my first completely seamless and wonderful experience that was completed in one day below budget. The subcontractor was prompt and did a very professional job. However, they reported that because of the low space, they could not put enough insulation in to bring it up to R 49 approaching the slope to the gutters along the outside wall. Consequently, the cold room warmed up only a bit, not as much as we had hoped. However, Simon acknowledged the situation and revised our price downward by about one third to fairly adjust for the lack of space that precluded R49 fill. He dealt with us fairly and promptly, and I feel we got a good price. If we want that room any warmer, we will have to insulate an outside wall or two.
Description of Work: Simon from Energy Max looked in our attic, took measurements of area square footage, and advised blowing in insulation that would bring it up to R49. Our attic only covers about 1/3 of our floor plan (the other 2/3 has cathedral ceiling), and one of the rooms in that area is cold. He gave us an estimate and I paid half on my VISA.

I called the company several times and left several messages w/ no return call for over a week. When I did finally hear from the company, I found out they are in the process of relocating and that the representative here in the PNW was out of town. Once he got in contact w/ me, he was helpful and courteous. He came out to inspect my attic to determine the correct type of insulation and how much would be needed. He was respectful, friendly and very knowledgable. He explained everything to me w/ no problem, letting me know that this was only an estimate and if at any time I decide not to get the insulation installed, I could contact Angie's List and have my money refunded. I was under the impression, however, that what I had purchased on Angie's List was the installation. He explained that there were other's who were under the same impression. Although the amount purchased went 'toward' the installation, it did not cover the entire amount. He sent me an estimate w/in a day and was very courteous and knowledgeable. I had told him that my husband would probably be the one installing the insulation and so he added in my estimate what type and how much as well as where to get the best price. if I were to have someone come in and do this type of work, I wouldn't hesitate to give them a call. Although we got off on a shaky start w/ no returned calls, the customer service and information made up for it.
Description of Work: The representative came and explained the process of insulation installation, he then climbed in my attic to get a look around. He forgot his flashlight, so I had to hunt for one of my own. Once that was taken care of, he was able to measure my attic space to determine what would be needed for an estimate. He then sat down w/ me after and explained the process, the different types of insulation and what his recommendation was for our area. He was very knowledgeable and thorough.

i requested a quote for insulation to be installed in my attic. Energy Max installs blown in fiberglass as well as cellulose for same price. I first asked for a quote and then later mentioned I was a member of Angie's list. They cut the price but were still some $700.00 higher than the competition for the same work. This is significant since I only paid $1100.00 from Lakeside Installation. One reason for the higher price from Energy Max Solutions may be that they subcontract out their work thereby allowing for additional markup.
Description of Work: No work was performed due to high price.
