While they did offer info on their products, there was no hard sell for anything, and no warnings like "If you don't fix this it will break, and hey, by the way, we can do that...". I would consider them again for other business just because of the way I was treated.

Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for $99.00 for a gutter tune-up and whole house gutter cleaning. I had one gutter that was holding water and he was able to reestablish the proper position so that it would drain. It was difficult for him because we had a gutter guard on there, but he did a great job.

+ -1 moreI DID NOT use the company because they do not do work in Seattle anymore. The company was professional when they communicated with me and was very transparent to explain why they could not fulfil their Deal. They "sold" the deal to ECO Insulate NW. My experience with that ECO Insulate was not very good. They went out to survey and gave me an estimate that contained little or no info but was very clear that they need 50% down and balance at completion. They wanted almost $2,000 for this little job . I had to cajole they to put it on a piece of paper and detail out the scope of what they were going to perform. And still the estimate and scope did not even contain the "discount" deal" that I bought from Angie's. WHen ask for transparency, they say its include --- just not shown. In the end, I rejected their proposal. At the end of the day, their price was way too high. I went with Seattle Insulation - their prices was 50% cheaper than ECO. I just considered my $149 coupo for $500 value a loss. They even pointed me to various energy tax credits I did not know off. They din't even ask for 50% down. and I got stuck in traffic and could not meet them at the end of they job. They did not have a problem with my situation, they billed me via email and I paid the promptly.

+ 0 moreShowed up on time and began work promptly. All that was done was to clean out the gutters. No extra items as listed in deal. When he finished he told me I owed additional money as he went over 2 hours. This was not discussed in advance. I thought that this would be a total gutter inspection but no information provided on the condition of the gutters, no leveling as noted in the deal (I was told that for an additional cost I could have someone else come and level my gutters). He also left an advertising sign in my yard without asking permission to do so.

+ -1 moreWonderful work and the person they sent out was very nice and explained wht he was doing. It did take them a rather long time to get an invoice out to me (almost a month) but when it did finally arrive it was exactly what they originally quoted it would be. That was a nice suprise :)!

Description of Work: Used an Angie's List deal to have an energy audit done on our home. The office contacted us beforehand to get information needed. Jared showed up on time and performed the audit and recommended changes in light bulbs and reductions in energy use that qualified us for a rebate from Dominion Power. He also gave us an estimate on other things we could do to reduce our overall energy costs. We felt that the entire visit was well worth the cost and the advice we received.

One day prior to Jared stone's team arriving to my home his Foreman, Cedric, came an assessed the crawl space. He again went over with me what Mr Stone and I discussed and he asked was there any questions he took every concern I had and wrote them down. The next day his team went to work removing old plastic and insulation and replacing it with new plastic and insulation not only that but foam spraying around the perimeter of the crawl space for any and all gaps making it not only energy efficient but helping to keep the bugs out of the house. Today my family and I breathes cleaner air in my home. We can't thank you enough. My crawl space can now also act as a clean storage space if I needed it

+ -1 moreI contacted Energy Max for an estimate on insulation and ductwork. I left a message and did receive a phone call back. They were very busy, and I appreciated them telling me that. But, we set up a date for an estimate, and the estimator did not show and no one called me. It was possible they came to look at my house while I was away ( I gave them permission to look at my crawl space), but no one followed up, left a note, or provided an estimate. I didn't pursue a follow up call, because my pet peeve is having to make multiple calls to contractors when they don't show up.

We explained to Jared what we were interested in having done and he worked with us on the project. We went over everything including the fee and came to an agreement to have the insulation job done. A purchase order was written up for the job. I was told that Cedric Wynn would contact me to setup a date for the job. Cedric contacted me and we set the date for the job to be done on April 3, 2013. Cedric Wynn arrived before his crew. He meet with my husband and myself. He checked the crawlspace and took some pictures for me. We discussed the purchase order and was in agreement. The crew arrived and went to work. Cedric took a few pictures on the completion of the job. I asked for the pictures because I could not go into the crawlspace because of my knee. My husband was very pleased with the way Cedric handled everything. My neighbor checked the crawled spaced today and was very impressed with the job. She is considering using them in the near future for a job that she needs done. Again, thank you Angie's List for having this information available. Andrew & Esther Dudley UPDATE (3/25/2015): When they finished the insulation installation, they were supposed to pull the plastic and make sure that it was at the wall to prevent moisture. Moisture can create mildew and draw in termites. There is also a downed pipe that looks like someone had tried to tape it back up but it fell again. Both of those issues need to be corrected, but I have had no luck in contacting the company to get them to come out to rectify these mistakes.
Description of Work: Installed crawlspace insulation. Pull all vapor barrier up to foundation walls. Visual inspection of all duct around registers. Inspect all joists for mildew and mold.

+ 0 moreShowed up 1/2 hour later than scheduled, but notified me of the delay an hour before the scheduled time. Cedrick was absolutely fantastic. Two story house with some difficult sloping terrain where I would not even consider climbing a ladder FOR ANY PRICE. I have gutter guards so most of the work was cleaning the debris from on top of the guards, but everything was cleaned and wiped down and all debris bagged and removed from premises. Some additional work was performed to redirect a downspout. If Energy Max provided a regularly scheduled annual service at this price I would want to sign up.

+ -1 moreUnfortunately, the company went out of business before I could use the service. That meant waiting until a new vendor could be located. The current vendor has been a bit hard to reach. I've generally had to leave a message and then wait for a call-back, which is difficult with my schedule (I'm away from home a lot, with many medical appointments). Between my schedule and his, we've always missed each other, and/or I've been ill and asked to reschedule (and of course, one time I forgot because I'd had to schedule for a late afternoon appointment, which I generally avoid, because I have the dinner prep responsibilities in our household. I called him again today, and again left a message. I can let you know more when the service is completed (hopefully by early to mid-February), because I am both concerned about Norway rats getting into the house again (as they did once during a remodel) and I'm hope to change the attic insulation this summer. I am a little concerned. Most of the problems have been schedule conflicts and once I forgot. But the first time I called, I got him right away but he had to call me back because he didn't have his writing supplies available. Thanks.
Description of Work: Energy Solutions Another company took over when Energy Solutions went out of business or could not find a contractor in the Snohomish County Washington area. I had wanted an energy audit in the spring or summer so any work could be scheduled before out 8 months of rainy weather began. This did not happen due to the change in vendors. I suffered from a serious injury in January 2012, and it's diagnosis and treatment is continuing still. This meant that I had to fit any work on the house around my 2 to 3 a week medical appointments. My health was particulary bad from September through December 2012, continuing into January. I played a lot of telephone tag with Steve, but he was very responsive, as I had to schedule and reschedule and failed to get home in time to keep appointments. I cannot blame this on Steve, but I was not particularly happy when he would show up at the house just because he was in the area. Sometimes I was not presentable enough to "entertain" visitors and often I was either ill or exhausted. Still, I cannot blame this on Steve, although I had told him from the onset that I was having some health problems and many medical appointments at the time of his first contact. (I can't remember if we spoke on the phone or just showed up because he was in the area). When at last are schedules synced, he again just showed up at the door when I was calling to reschedule. He had been by the day before (we had scheduled the work for then), but I did not hear the doorbell but was alerted by my dog. When I got to the door (slowly, because my main medical problems are caused by spinal deformities exacerbated by a major car accident in 1988) I found his car on the door mat (had he waited a bit longer I would have been able to proceed as scheduled). I called him the next day, and rather than answer my call (message), he just showed up at the house. I had just gotten out of bed, even though it was noonish, as I sleep when I can because I don't sleep well due to pain, sleep apnea and chronic repiratory problems). I allowed him to complete his review of the crawlspace and attic, and he said that the crawlspace was in relatively good shape, even though I know that it was one sourceof a rat infestation earlier on. He then looked at the atttic and told me that I would need complete and immediate removal of insulation and then new insulation, and I needed a new roof in the near future (I knew all of this and had planned to do them this year anyway, although not during the winter months. He then gave me a bid for the insulation work and asked me to schedule with him asap. I told him that I could not, because I do not hire contractors without a bid process and without a thorough review of their credentials, experience, and recommendations. He seemed disappointed (which seems natural to me) and left. The one thing that I really had a problem with is that he persisted in calling me "hon" throughout our entire appointment. To me, this type of familiarity is insulting, paricularly since I am older than he, more professional in my conduct than he, and I feel that my life experieces and accomplishments deserve at least basic respect. Being called "hon" or any other such term feels degrading to me. I guess that he was too young for the women's movement, but if he wants to be a successful business owner, he needs to be more careful with his speech.

Description of Work: I am in the process of renovating my basement. I had Jared Stone come out from Energy Max and give me a quote on spray foaming two exterior walls. Then I asked for an estimate on insulating the attic. He was on time, polite and wrote me up a bid . I found the bid to be reasonable and asked him when he could start on the basement. He scheduled it for 2 days after I accepted the contract. Two days later, Cedrick showed up and started on the attic and I had a crew working on the basement. Cedrick was wonderful to work with and made sure the project was done correctly both in the basement and the attic. They were on time and cleaned up after they left. Cedrick came back with a crew the next week and finished the attic and blew in insulation.
