All work done is usually done very well. During the first visit we went over all the items that needed attention and what was going to be done. Then throughout the year the team came out and performed all work. Sometimes it feels like email responsiveness could be a bit better but that's very minor.

YLP's guys did an excellent job. They removed the lose pave stones, cleaned them and the surface beneath, and reinstalled them with concrete. It was a very large job involving many pave stones and steps. The work was done quickly and well.

He was a nice man and he was professional. However, it was a waste of money to have someone come out to give me an estimate and ideas, when other landscapers will do this for free in the hopes that you will hire them. He was the first landscaper who came out and when I contacted other reputable landscapers their ideas were less expensive and there was no charge to come out. If I had known that this is done for free, I would not have spent $49 for this.
Description of Work: He took a look at my tiny backyard behind my townhouse and suggested how to clean it up and landscape it.

Response from Your Landscape Partner
Thank you for your feedback. We would first like to clarify that we did not profit from the $49 fee. Angies list solicited us to forfill "Big Deals" that they sold in a coupon form equaling a landscaping consultation and design sketch. The deal was meant to be used by angies clients for a brief meeting with an estimator/designer. Depending on the need we were to have an initial meeting, survey the property and then ultimately produce a first draft sketch if requested. Angies list sold the deal and collected any gains. We would like to take this opportunity to express deep regret in agreeing to partner with Angies list on this "Big Deal". Before this collaberation we had a perfect record and an A+ rating on the list however now have acquired mixed reviews some based on dissatisfaction similar to yours related to this coupon offer. Ultimately, we think the coupon was misleading, in that people with no prior landscape experience may have been targeted to pay for an estimate for things such as simple cleanup jobs which in truth would have been performed for free by us if contacted via cold call. We did offer to credit all of the clients back the $49 upon moving forward with any plan presented, even though we never profited. We offered this as an incentive or coupon towards the work. We are sorry that you did not find us helpful but, in the end are happy you found someone to help

Angie's list refunded this consumer in full as no work was initiated, scheduled or performed. We almost wonder if she has us confused with another vendor based on the comments. Her PO Box Address is in Middleburg/ Loudoun CO., VA. allowing her notification of local specials but, her actual residence is in Fauquier County. Upon initial contact with the member we explained the service bounds and directed her to the help desk for a full refund. We can not make sense as to why feedback is allowed to be left when it is completely invalid. Even though it is a B rating the review remains misleading.

Description of Work: A guy from the company showed up, talked to us, gave us ideas. While we talked to him, a woman did the drawing of only a partial section of our yard and the drawing was far from in a finished state. She explained some family emergencies, but we found someone else to do a full plan for our yard.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. The "Big Deal" that was purchased by the member for $49 from Angie was for an initial consultation and 2 hrs of design work. With time restrictions in mind, we completed what we could for the client based on there "priority areas" as they expressed more interest in pricing and estimates for several large projects that they were ready to move forward with. We are disappointed that the member never voiced any concerns to us directly about wanting more expansive design work. We would have been happy to draw up a Landscape Design for the entire yard at our normal hourly rate for any time spent over the initial 2 hours that were used. With that said, over the course of 3 months we spent several hours working with the clients putting together a total of seven different quotes for them ranging from 5-20k. In the end due to admitted budget constraints they wanted to contract us for $300 worth of that work. We kindly explained that the amount mentioned was outside of our minimum and expressed that we would be happy to work with them in the future as there budget permitted. They are nice people and would still be happy to work with them in the future.

Wow....very impressive and a great value. Alexandra and Frank were a real pleasure to work with and provided tremendous value and service. I had neglected my yard for a couple of years and it was a real disaster. Alexandra worked with me to ensure a very reasonable deal was struck and Frank proceeded to masterfully restore my yard. He diagnosed and treated for slugs and weeds, thatched, aerated composted, and seeded. Within a month it was better than new. I cannot overstate how thankful and impressed I am with their service and professionalism!

On sale, I purchased a reduced aerating and seeding, knowing that whoever did it would probably recommend additional work. I also knew that the yard needed it, having just basic maintance done on it for over five years. They didn't disappoint, making the recommendation to thatch & overseed the bare spots. They also recommended to add soil on top and straw. When I saw the price for all those items, I called them and I pulled out the soil and straw, telling them I'd do that myself. Without any hesitation, they agreed and we set a date, 10/18, for them to do it. This is important & why I gave them an "A". Without negotiation, the price grade would have dropped to at best "B" as the prices are high to me. But note I do most of my yard work with my sons, so most prices are high. Starting the night prior and into the morning, we got rain. As soon as they opened, they emailed me (communication choice for me) and moved the date to Friday, unless I declined. That Friday morning, they showed up, did all the work, and then did a very good job of cleaning up. They even blew out some leaves from my garage! If the grass they just planted does well, I'll go back to them again. Also, check websites for discounts. They really help and this company showed me no difference for using them.

About the actual plan not what I really wanted. When it did actually arrive (and to be fair I was the one who missed that appointment-my fault not theirs) it was not what I thought I had asked for. Nice people though. Not unhappy with their service just not happy either.
Description of Work: Purchased a yard plan on a big deal. There were lots of problems that were not the provider firm's fault like multiple times we had scheduled meetings we were snow or rained out. So delivery was very extended. The negative seemed to be that my location and needs were only marginally close to their preferred venues. So while they acted professional it seemed like their heart was not in it. Closer to their geographic and business center I think would work better.

The provider returned a month later, with a plan for putting slate steps in front, pulling the bushes I did not like & adding some azaleas in the front. He had no landscape plan the back or side yards. He really did not provide a landscape plan at all!! He gave me an estimate to have his company put in new steps & add a few bushes in the front, trim & add bushes. I was very disappointed! I have had good experiences with other Angie's List purchases but this was a rip off. I have seen plans done by Betty's Azalea for my friends that are real plans & not an estimate.
Description of Work: The deal was for a Landscape Plan for my yard. The initial visit was canceled because it might rain, it was the day before a holiday & I had taken the day off from work. The appointment was finally done on a rainy day by Frank, not the owner of company & landscaper, but her brother who has done many things including commercial real estate & stone work. He took measurements of my yard after listening to my desires. I told him I thought the backyard was boring and would like ideas for the back to create interest. I also stated that I did not like several of the bushes in the front & was open to suggestions. I explained the yard was full of weeds & bare spots & I wanted suggestions for improving grass.

I would like to go through these concerns Ms. [member name removed] brought up in her review 1 by 1 to respond to them. First off I would like to say that I really like Ms. [member name removed] and thought that our rapport and discussion of the work she wanted, did not warrant the bad review she gave. 1)We did have 1 rescheduling issues at first due to rain, but the initial visit that we set and came out for was not canceled as Ms. [member name removed] said... In fact, Alexandra and I came out to see Ms. [member name removed] at 9am on Friday December 13th for our initial visit and Ms. [member name removed] was not there to meet us when we arrived, even after we confirm this appointment with Ms, [member name removed] just days prior. When we arrived at her community we called Ms. [member name removed] several times, left messages, and waited at the entrance gate for almost 30 min, then left after no response from her. Ms. [member name removed] eventually replied to us 2 weeks later on Dec 29th by email to kindly apologize for missing the appointment and told us she wanted to re-schedule. We emailed Ms. [member name removed] back and told her that it was ok, but to please call us when she was available to reschedule. We did not hear from her again even after sending a reminder to her on January 8th. Two months later Ms [member name removed] got back in touch with us on March 3rd and we were finally able to see her on a Sunday afternoon at 4pm on March 9th for the sake of accommodating her busy schedule. At this point the big deal offer had expired but we still honored it. When I came out to meet with Ms. [member name removed] for the evaluation she was most interested in lawn repair, removal of some ground cover in the front beds of her home, with the installation of some other shrubbery such as azaleas and some type of landscaping design for the backyard. I also suggested that she face the front stoop to match the nice stonework of her house. She also spoke of adding a stairway to her back deck. However, the major issue was lawn repair and since close to 70% of her lawn were weeds, it was later determined that re-sodding may be the best way to go. 2)When I spoke with Ms. [member name removed] during our first appointment, she really liked the idea of stone facing the front stoop to match the house. When we spoke about price for the items addressed for both front and back,(not including the stairway off the deck) cost was an issue so I had suggested she focus on getting the lawn under control first, along with doing some landscaping for the front of her home for the sake of the curb appeal it would add. I believed this plan of action was agreed to, therefore I provide options for the front along with grass repair and did not include any design for the back yard nor for adding stairs, due to addressing these other items first. 3)When speaking with Mrs. [member name removed] it was no secret that I was Alexandra’s brother, and that I owned a Landscaping company for 9 years prior to Alexandra owning Your Landscape Partner and Alexandra receiving a degree in horticulture and landscape design. Before I left the home I advised Ms. [member name removed] that I would be in touch with her in about 2 weeks to set up a follow up visit. So when I was ready to meet with her again I called several times, left a voicemail message and did eventually catch her at work one day after repeated attempts to contact her. When we spoke she said she was busy and to give her some more time that she would be in touch. However I never heard back from Ms. Moran and weeks later I tried contacting her again towards the end of April, left her a message and she eventually called back and left me a voicemail on May 16th and I saw her the following week. We went over the following items: 1) removing the front ground cover and planting orange and white azaleas 2) planting some flowers such as petunias, violas, and lobelias around her lamppost 3) removing surfaced tree roots in the front yard 4) facing the front stoop with stone 5) relocating 1 sprinkler head 6) and I presented options for lawn repair. 4)This is when we discussed the possibilities of sodding the entire lawn due to the fact almost 70% of it was weeds. Our consideration for this governed on the fact that we would need several treatments over the summer to kill all the weeds and the lawn may not be ready for seeding until fall and then again early next spring. Also during this time Ms. [member name removed] would be left with a lawn that was mostly dirt until the grass grew in. Therefore, the sodding option seemed to be the quickest way to restore a healthy lawn for her, even though it was more expensive than killing the weeds and seeding. Nevertheless I believe Ms, [member name removed] is not being forthright about several items in her review. 1) She said she took a day off work to meet us, yet when we showed up for the initial appointment Ms. [member name removed] forgot about us even after confirming the apt just days prior… 2) Ms’ [member name removed] is not easy to get a hold of (in fact the message on her voicemail says something to the effect that you can try leaving her a voicemail, but that she may not check it....), Yet in the review Ms. [member name removed] makes it sounds like she was chasing after us when in fact we were the ones actually chasing after her and trying to be accommodating for her sake. 3) Ms [member name removed said her appointment was finally done on a rainy day by Frank, not the owner of company & landscaper… However Ms Moran forgot that I owned a landscaping company for 9 years prior to working with my sister Alexandria while she was dealing with an illness, even seeking to accommodate Ms [member name removed] by seeing her on a Sunday afternoon. 4) Ms [member name removed] eluded that her focus of this evaluation was on the back yard, yet knowing after our 1st consultation due to budget it was determined that her money was best spent repairing the grass and fixing up the front of the home 1st. Finally in the review Ms [member name removed] made it sound like she wanted some big landscape design for her home but did not get it. Yet after our initial visit the focus was indeed on repairing the grass and doing only a few things to the front of her home. I provided a design picture for those front areas we spoke of, however, there is really no way to provide a design for grass repair other than showing a picture of healthy grass superimpose over a picture of Ms. [member name removed] lawn. I’m sure that’s not what she wanted, but I believe what I provided was for what we agreed at our initial consultation. If Ms. [member name removed] wanted a huge drawn out landscaping design for her entire home (instead of the areas we addressed and provided) I would have happily furnished that to her, yet I would have advised Ms [member name removed] that the $49.00 she spent for the big deal was for only 3 hours of design work. In closing I believe Ms, [member name removed] should change her review to reflect the true nature of our visit. She should at least in all honesty give Your Landscape Partner an A for responsiveness and an A for punctuality and the rest of her review should fairly reflect the intention and objective of our visit. We purchased the landscape plan for $49 in hopes of getting some ideas for our back yard, a large empty rectangle surrounded with chain link fence. I want some way to soften the edges and make the space seem more connected to the house, deck, and patio. I looked forward to the insights of an artist; something on paper that could be divided into easily-accomplished mini projects. I had no start date in mind, and no thoughts about who would do the work or how much of it could be diy. Everything we eventually do will have to be on the cheap, since my husband is retired and I am disabled. We live in a 40-year-old tract house in a moderate-income neighborhood, so anything grandiose makes no sense at all. I purchased a PLAN. That?s all, just a plan. I tell you all this so you will understand the comments that follow. I?m sure this company does fine work and the owners and employees are really good people. I just don?t feel like I got what I hoped for or paid for. Frank came out for a look-around one day earlier this year. His first question was, when do we want to start the work? This kind of blindsided me, since as I mentioned, timeline would be determined by the plan he would develop, not the other way around. How about a fountain? Maybe a gazebo? Have we been to their website to see examples of their work? It was a sales pitch right down the line. He took some pictures and measurements both front and back, and the meeting concluded. A couple of weeks later Frank came back to present what he had come up with. He brought some pretty pictures of some pretty flower gardens and features, nothing coherent, and nothing practical for our situation. By this point, the ?plan? idea was dead. We sat and talked a while about what he still might be able to sell us. We decided to consider two rows of trees that would grow into privacy screens on either side of the yard for three thousand dollars. We would talk again if we decided to move forward. We have been in contact few times since then. At one point we did commit to the trees, but a supply problem arose and they returned our deposit. The project has been tabled indefinitely. Frank, if you?re reading this, I?m sorry. I?m sure you?re a great guy, but we just never got onto the same page.

Very prompt, very professional, but did not see the value in spending $50 for a series of estimates that most companies provide for free. A minimal, hand drawn sketch was the only item added to a typical estimate. Paying for the estimate was not worth the money, but the people are passionate, responsive and their estimates are within reason. We are still considering hiring them for some projects.

On the first visit they did an excellent job identifying a solution for a problem area in the yard, which we asked them to focus on. We discussed options, agreed on what was needed, and they worked up a detailed plan with several printouts and multiple views, including all specifications. When the plan was complete, they re-visited the site to discuss and explain the plan. There was no pressure to purchase anything. A great experience!

When we moved into our home, it had been empty for quite some time. The landscaping was dead, overgrown and a mess. We had Alexandra from Your Landscape Partner come out and recommend what needed to be done, and to plan each step of how we would get to where we wanted. YLP came out and removed all of the dead and overgrown bushes, cleaned out the debris and in addition cleaned out a number of old branches collected in the backyard, which had not been part of the deal, for free (it was much appreciated). We then met Alexandra to plan the new landscaping but when she found out that we were also planning on new windows and siding, she recommended waiting until next season to do this to make the remodeling job easier. This was done even though she knew it would postpone her revenue. We have also had YLP come out for weekly mowing and this is always done professionally, on time, done well and with no intrusion. We highly recommend Your Landscape Partner.

Alexandra, the landscaper, is dynamite! I had a poor landscaping job done previously. They laid sod directly on clay and it was a mess. Alexandra was able to fix everything! They filled the patches that weren’t rolled originally and we have done a couple of seasons with top dressing. They have built soil under my grass and it has taken Your Landscape Partner a couple of years to turn it around, but it is just wonderful now! I always have people and neighbors asking me who does my lawn. My lawn is the first to green in the neighborhood. The guys who cut the lawn do it perfectly. They are truly a full service landscaper and great people. They always leave the place spotless when they are done for the day.

They are my landscape partner. I love Alexandra, she is the owners wife, who does all the scheduling and she is their Landscape Architect so she's been out to my place. Set me up for all the services. They've worked with me on getting my lawn fixed after developers put the sod right down on clay, did a bad installation of the sod. Your Landscape Partner rescued my lawn, so it's actually one of the envy's in the neighborhood.

Description of Work: We have used Your Landscape Partner for the past 2 summers. When we bought our house, the lawn was trashed. It took 2 summers for it to get into good condition again. However, getting it that way wasn't always easy. We first met w/ Alex about the lawn and what we wanted to do. We explained it to her and she gave us a price. However, not everything was priced together. There were a lot of "add ons". Pricing was not easy to determine. When we asked for something to be done, it would always cost more...even though we told her to give us an all inclusive price. This happened for two years. And...we didn't always get what we thought we were paying for. When we had the seeding done in the fall, (both years) most of it didn't take and she wanted to charge us more to redo it. We told her NO! We had already paid. She didn't redo it b/c there was no guarantee. There was also a problem w/ billing. It is not consistent so you might not be charged for two or three months, then get hit w/ it all at once. NO consistency there. There was also a matter of getting out lawn serviced on a consistent basis. We were to be on a Thurs/ Fri rotation, but that didn't always happen. Again, no consistency. However, I will say the guys did a GOOD job when they came. Our lawn looked good most of the summer. They guys were always kind, respectful and very nice to the kids. They worked hard when they were here. I would say most of the issues were management issues. We will look for a new lawn service for the spring/summer.

Highly recommend and awesome company! I just recommended them to a neighbor.
Description of Work: I highly recommend Your Landscape Partner for lawn maintenance. I've been a customer since April 2008 and have been extremely happy with the quality, price, and professionalism from the owner and the work teams. They are prompt, courteous, clean up nicely and the team lead is happy to answer any questions. They mow and edge the lawn and do a spring and fall clean up of my 3 flower beds. In the spring they replace the black mulch to the beds. I just recently hired them as my lawn treatment and fall reseeding and aeration as I could not get my other company to fix the bald spots as they don't do that and suggested that I buy some top soil and cover all the bald spots just after the reseeding which I don't have time and honestly don't like/want to :) I put zero in the box for pricing because you pay 10 payments depending on which services you select. For all that I mentioned, not including the treatment and reseeding in the fall, $272 per month for March through December. My yard is .33 acre. Here's the breakdown: Lawn Mowing $40 x 32 times = $1,280 Intergrated Pest Control $125 Tree, Plant & Shrub Fertilization $90 x 2 (spring & fall) = $180 Spring Bed Cleanup $35 x 3 beds = $90 Trench Edging of Beds $45 Black Mulch for Beds $360 Seasonal Flowers for beds, 8 flats $240 Maintenance of all planted areas May - Nov $140 Trimming/Pruning of shrubs $175 Fall cleanup for lawn & beds $70

I have a new house. The builder hired landscapers who were less than competent. Sod was laid on clay with no soil, the sod was not rolled for five days, and then it was not rolled properly. I had bare spots and wet spots. I hired Your Lawn Partner to apply a top dressing, to slowly build up soil for the roots to have something to gown in. The Lawn Partner team arrived five minutes early. The crew leader checked in with me to double check what was to be done. The crew applied the material, raked it in, cleaned off my sidewalk and driveway, and was gone within a couple of hours. Additionally, they removed weeds that were starting to grow in lawn's bare spots, put down some soil, and seeded the bare spots. I will be having them back to do some landscaping.
Description of Work: Top dressing my lawn and seeding bare spots.
