Bill Watt of Watt Corporation was recommended by the company from which we purchased our new hot tub because Watt Corporation was extremely knowledgeable about the electrical installation required for the specific hot tub that we had purchased. And after speaking with Bill Watt himself for approximately 30 minutes, we felt confident that he understood exactly what was needed for our specific electrical hookups and that he would pull the proper permits and complete the necessary inspections (completing the job and quot;by the bookand quot; to meet code). Everything went pretty smoothly at first, but then the delays began. Once we decided to go with Watt Corporation, it took a little while for Bill Watt to actually send us a quote and the contract to sign. And then after we signed the contract and paid the deposit for the work, there were a few additional delays. Our biggest issue was that Mr. Watt would tell us that he'd come by at a specific time to inspect our electrical panel or pick up our deposit check, and then he'd show up 1.5 hours late for the appointment (after we rushed home from work to meet him) or due to another huge work project in DC, our installation appointments would get pushed back. This happened enough times that we began to seriously worry that the entire hot tub installation project (which included a large deck build-out and delivery of the hot tub) would be held up due to delays with the electrical installation. In the end, Bill Watt sent out his assistant, Andres, to complete the work and the entire project stayed on schedule. But there were several rescheduled appointments. And there was also an issue where we were asked to pay an additional $200 (which wasn't part of the initial quote/contract) because we needed a 70 amp circuit to be installed rather than the typical 50 amp installation. We refused to pay any extra because we had signed a contract for the work after discussing our electrical requirements and being open about the fact that we definitely wanted the full 70 amp breaker installed in order to operate both the heat pumps and all jets at the same time. To his credit, Bill's knowledge of hot tub electrical installation was incredible (he knows what is needed and he fully understands and follows Fairfax County codes and regulations) and Andres' work was completed quickly, professionally, and up to code. If you are looking for a company that knows the process and will provide a quality service, then Watt Corporation is your company. But the disclaimer is that you may have to deal with last-minute appointment cancellations or late shows in the process because Watt Corporation has a pretty heavy workload, and it's really just Bill and Andres doing the work and Bill's wife Pat answering emails.
Description of Work: Watt Corporation took care of the electrical work necessary to install power for a new hot tub (the Caldera Spas Utopia Series 8-person Cantabria hot tub). This work included obtaining the technical specifications for the new hot tub and verifying the existing capacity was available to support a new hot tub. The site was surveyed for the new wiring, and a conduit, disconnect switch, and connection to the spa was installed, using all copper wiring for the conduits. A new circuit breaker was installed in our service panel. We also had Watt Corporation install a weatherproof GFCI receptacle near the hot tub. All of this work was completed after Fairfax County electrical permits were obtained and inspections were scheduled and completed. Permit fees were included in the price we paid.
