M.C. Fence and Deck

This is one of the more professional and conscientious contractors I've worked with in the area. They were prompt, courteous and unambiguous about their pricing and services. The whole process was pretty seamless for us; they took care of the details like verifying the property boundary and having the utilities marked. The work was done efficiently and the quality is exceptional. Also, the price was very competitive.

We couldn't be happier with the fence. The materials showed up the day prior. The supervisor arrived within the time specified to get the crew started, and within five hours, the crew had installed over 250' of fence with two gates built on site. Because of the cold, they were unable to stain the fence, but will be back to do that. The workmen left the yard clean, and the fence is solid and looks beautiful. The neighbors have given us compliments on the fence. We are having a deck built and I can't wait to see how it turns out.

I used an Angie's List coupon for this service and they also gave a 10-percent discount for Angie's List members. They were fantastic; outstanding. This company was responsive and called me right back when I called them and asked for an estimate. They came quickly to do the estimate and then had a crew out here most of the day replacing old chain link fence and two segments of wooden fence and gates. The new fencing looked really nice. They also rolled up some old chain link fence that I did not need any longer. They did a fantastic job and had to cut some hedges back a little to get the fencing in. They cleaned up everything and took it away. They are going to come back and treat my deck at a later time. I thought their price was reasonable.

Our fence installation proved to be a very complicated one thanks to the PWC zoning office. KC, Mike, and the installation crew were very professional in handling our unique situation as they'd never encountered the issues we faced. Although we were very uneasy with the initial fence design due to the cumbersome approval contingencies of the zoining office, the fence turned our wonderful. We're very pleased with the end product and would recommend the MC Fence and Deck company to anyone inquiring about those types of services.

Their service from top to bottom was excellent. The product is great and every one of their employees was professional, courteous and responsive to our needs. We rec'd an estimate from another fence company that told us to go get a survey of our property, arrange to have shrubs and foliage either removed or trimmed to prepare for installation and then they would (for almost twice the price) install the fence. MC, was able to determine property lines from our plat and the buried pins with 100% accuracy, trimmed any shrubs/bushes/trees or tied them up if they could to minimize trimming and installed the fence all on the same day. They came on time, worked very hard and cleaned up very well after installation was complete. I would highly recommend this company again without hesitation;. If they had an A+ rating, this company would get it from us.

We rate our overall experience with MC Deck and Fence as highly satisfied. MC Deck and Fence provided us with accurate estimates and they were extremely friendly and courteous during the entire process, from initial estimate to project completion, and afterwards. They exceeded our needs and the project looks like a million. Our neighbors stated that we have set the bar for our new housing area in Ashburn, Va. As most families concerns go, costs are among one of them, ours were the same. We were extremely cost conscious because we just moved into a new house but wanted to add a deck immediately so that we could focus on patio and landscaping in the spring. Matt was able to meet with us several times and listen to our grand scheme for future projects and how we wanted to incorporate a deck into those plans. After several revisions, we agreed upon a design that fit our needs and fell within our desired cash outlay. The deck is a hybrid consisting of pressure treated pine decking, aluminum balusters, vinyl railing, 8 foot vinyl arbor, and 2 hanging plant trellis on two corners. The lighting is Trex lighting with auto and programmable lights and day/night sensor. The exterior is sheathed in Trex panels. The neighbors commented that this deck looks like it is part of the house, neither too big nor too small, it looks simply amazing. The team also brought my 6 foot wide grill to the top of the deck and placed into the grill cutout area, I did not request that they do that, they offered. That is exceptional customer service. Yes, we have set the bar in our new neighborhood with the quality and craftsmanship, and friendly customer service offered and provided by MC Deck and Fence. We cannot thank MC Deck and Fence enough for providing us with such a high quality product and one that others, even those with composite decks, like as well. Thank you! The quality of the fence is wonderful, it looks beautiful and was definitely a good product, however they damaged our sprinkler lines and then denied it despite photographs and irrefutable evidence.

We contacted MC Fence and Deck through Angie's list after Hurricane Sandy rolled through the area and knocked a tree down on our fence (and my car). They gave us several different options on the replacement - from just fixing the part damaged from the storm, or the complete replacement. After discussing the options with them, we opted to go with the complete replacement. We received quotes from a number of other folks, and MC Fence and Deck was very reasonable, and the strong reviews others from Angie's list had given were taken into consideration. We worked closely with them through our home owners association review process. They were great in getting us all of the pertinent information to get the fencing approved. They had the materials dropped off the morning before, and were at our home promptly at 8:00 AM. They tore the old fence down, and put the new fence up and completed by 2:00 PM. They completely cleaned up after themselves and hauled the old fencing away. A+, 10/10, whatever scale you want to use they are at the top. Already have asked Mike to give us a quote on replacing our deck. These guys are the best, and I can't recommend them highly enough.

The Colwell family were wonderful to work with: everything was done promptly and professionally and the fence looks great! Our estimate was done immediately, all my follow up questions were answered right away by phone and email, and they were able to put the fence up two days after our HOA approval came. The team worked quickly and left the work site clean and tidy when they left. Great job! I would recommend this family owned company to everyone!

MC Fence was very quick to respond -- they responded within an hour of submitting a request for quote on their website -- and were extremely professional from the first interaction. Mike, the owner, was able to schedule a Saturday appointment to measure the fence and provide an estimate, which was a very nice surprise. Mike was prompt and professional throughout. He went over our requirements and offered helpful suggestions to design the fence in a way that would meet those requirements while eliminating unnecessary costs. Mike clearly knows his business extremely well, which gave us confidence that we would get a quality fence. After totaling the costs of the various aspects of our fence, Mike was able to give us a quote on the spot. I had a price in mind and Mike's quote was significantly lower. We had been planning to have another fence company provide a quote, but based on the other company's lack of responsiveness, Mike's professionalism, and the quote, we decided to accept Mike's quote on the spot. Mike provided an install date -- the Thursday (5 days) after the initial meeting -- and time at the same time as the quote. Mike stated that the lumber would be delivered the day before and that the install would be done the following day. On the day of the install, the crew did not show at the specified time. However, Mike called shortly after the time they were supposed to arrive to apologize and provide a new time. He said that despite the delayed arrival, the fence would still be completed in one day. While this could have detracted from this review, Mike handled the situation extremely well. One of the things that Mike said set his company apart from other fencing companies is that there is always a supervisor on site. When the crew arrived, I went to see if I could find the supervisor to ask if the crew needed anything from me. Unfortunately, due to a language barrier, I couldn't find out if there was a supervisor there. I've heard horror stories from friends and family about home improvement projects where the contractor sits around, wastes time, or does a poor job. I'm pleased to say that we had none of these problems with MC Fence. The crew was obviously very skilled, professional, and efficient. They demolished the old fence more quickly than I thought possible and started building the new fence. The entire project took about 5 hours. The final product looks awesome. Mike stopped by at the end of the day to inspect the fence and make sure that it met his standards -- to include clean-up. He also offered helpful suggestions for maintaining the fence. Overall, we're extremely satisfied with both the service and the end product we received. We're thinking of having more fence and deck work done this spring or summer. If we decide to go forward, I'll be calling MC Fence and Deck.

The overall experience was good, they even could handle a woman changing her mind a few times. The price was in line with the other quotes I received. The install was done in a timely manner. My email questions were answered. It's all good!

I had left a message requesting for an estimate and the office had called me back right away. Matt (project lead) came out right away to perform an estimate (I think it was about 2 days after we called the company) on a new fence and deck for our townhouse. He spent his time here andactually listened to us, which was a new experience. We had two other companies come out to perform an estimate and they were more concerned with telling us their achievements and how to higher our costs then to listen to us. Matt told us exactly how our current deck (approx. 20 years old) was out of code and explained how the deck crew was going to build the new deck to code. He worked with us to design the deck (placement of stairs and other options). Although MC Fence and Deck was not the cheapest, we decided to go with them because they focused on decks/fences (not a construction/building company) and they listened to us (that was a major factor for us. The deck and fence turned out gorgeous. The fence and deck crew (two man teams) were great. The fence took one day to be torn down and built. The deck took about 6 days. We were originally told it was going to take 2.5 days, but the crew did find some major issues with the original deck that they had to mitigate (long story short, the old deck was mounted to cardboard behind the siding of the house, versus blocking/wood braces). The deck crew (Mario and Miquel) did a great job and it was obvious that they knew what they were doing. There were a lot of finishing touches that they made that we did not expected, such as the detail put into the railing on the stairs. Matt and/or Mike (owner) did stop by often to check in on the project. The only issue we encountered with this company is that there can be a bit of a communication challenge. Sometimes we had discussed things with the management office (Mike and Matt) that would not always trickle down to the crew. There also seemed to be a communication challenge even within the management team. My suggestion: after the estimate is completed, communicate directly with Mike. In the end, however, all issues were resolved and the finished product is great.

MC Fence and Deck met all of our expectations and more. Matt was very involved in overseeing the project from start to finish. His crew was punctual, did the work correctly (finished in one day!) and clean up was meticulous. Matt is an honest and fair contractor and it was a pleasure working with him. We will definitely be contacting MC Fence and Deck for our fence maintenance and future projects!

The crew did a fabulous job. The grading of the property line varied and Matt and his team provided on-site suggestions to make the final project look appealing and professional. We were very pleased with the results. Prior to the start, we reviewed the project several times before finalizing, but once we agreed to a final design, Matt provided a compettive price and ordered the material, which was delivered the day before the fence was scheduled to be built. We are very satisfied with the end results.

M.C. Fence and Deck showed up before our schedule time and had begun promptly. Since the cost of repair was expensive, they had setup a monthly payment plan. M.C. Fence and Deck had done an excellent job on repairing our privacy fence. I highly recommend M.C. Fence and Deck.

Love this company!!!!!! Matt responded to our calls right away and scheduled an appointment for an estimate with short notice. He was EARLY to the appointment, gave us a very fair price, and had the fence installed in ONE DAY!! The workers were very respectful and did excellent work. The fence looks amazing!!!!! High quality material is used. They have exceeded our expectations!!!! We are having them come back to work on our deck!! WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!!!

Matt and his team are very professional. The experience was painless and we received alot of compliments on the fence. The only thing is I wish they painted the fence but they do not offer that service.

Matt and his team did a great job. They patiently worked with us and our neighbor and the property survey to correctly align the fencing to the property lines. They removed unneeded and old materials and hauled it all away! Every step of their job was professional and well done. We needed the fence done as quickly as possible and Matt and his team were able to deliver. The primary reason I went with this company was that I truly believed they would come through with what we discussed on time and I was definitely not disappointed. They were not the lowest estimate I received, but the professionalism and quality they delivered were worth the extra money and assurance I had that things would turn out well.

Overall, the experience was really good. We had multiple quotes for fencing. The MC Fence team was competitive with the big guys, and I really liked that it was a local family run business. They were very responsive via phone / email. They took a great deal of time with us, and spent a lot of time on site when the project began. The fence turned out very nice, and was done in the time frame they stated (same day). There were a few minor issues. They came and fixed all but one of them. The last one, was due to the mesh not being taught against the fence, so it was easy to pinch a finger. In one area, they just cut off the top part of the mesh. They came back to have a look and agreed this was not the right way to fix it, but never sent anyone to make it right. This one negative point was disappointing, but I would still recommend them to someone building a fence. At the end of the day, I'd say we were 95% satisfied, which in my book, is pretty good.

When we moved into our house we needed a fence installed to keep our furry family member from terrorizing the neighborhood. After hearing several (much higher) estimates, we contacted MC Fence and Deck who sent out a manager the next day to provide an estimate. After we agreed to proceed with MC Fence and Deck, they quickly came out to do a survey and mark underground wires. Our HOA drug their feet and took two months to approve the fence, and in the intervening time MC Fence stayed in touch, but never complained about the delay. After we called them notifying of the approval they showed up the next day to re-mark the lines, and a day later they began work on the fence. The workers showed up on time on a Thursday morning and finished the whole job in about six hours. They even fixed a hole in the existing chain link fence at the back of the property at no extra charge. The finished wooden fence they installed is sturdy and attractive. The workers were polite and efficient, and cleaned up after they were done. It is so nice to deal with a company that delivers what they promised in a timely, affordable manner. I gladly recommend MC Fence and Deck to anyone looking to put up a fence on their property.

They were on-time and prompt for the quote and provided it quickly. The installed was delayed by one day but that was due to rains the day of install. The work was wonderful, the fence looks beautiful and the gates function flawlessly. The only thing I would have to say is that I was not made aware of a credit card service fee beforehand, but after talking with the office staff they offered to reimburse me the fee since they had not made me aware of it. Also they did charge the credit card for the work a day before the actual work was preformed even though the quote stated it would not be charged until that day.

We recently purchased a home that already had most of the backyard fenced in, but we wanted the rest completed matching the existing wood and style. We had several estimates and MC Fence and Deck gave us the most attention, provided the most useful explanation of what we had and how they'd match it, and also had the best price. After scheduling the service, they completed the fence while we were at work, and we came home to a beautiful sturdy fence that matched perfectly. The price was fair, and the work was exceptional and done very quickly. We'll definitely keep them in mind for any other projects we might need at our new house.

The crew came on a Thursday afternoon, cleared the old fence and started working on the new fence the next day. The fence was completed in a day, and the crew pretty much rushed through the job, even though I specifically requested that they take their time. Some items I was not too happy about: 1. The crew barely spoke English and my Spanish is nil, so there was a language barrier. The foreman was not on site so I was calling the owner when I had questions and concerns. 2. I was told that the rails (box fence) would be nailed in the posts in a certain manner with four nails, one on each side of the rail, and that didn't happen. I had to call the owner, so he could communicate this issue to the crew and at the end, every rail was nailed with 4 nails, three on one side and one on top. 3. The spaces between the posts are supposed to be 8 feet and were not, some sections are more, some less. It might have been easier to use the old pole holes which were perfectly spaced. When the crew got to installing a double door, they had 8 ft sections on one side of the door and a couple of 6 ft sections on the other, and one could easily see the difference. If they planned a little better this wouldn?t have happened. As it was, I called the owner and it was corrected. 4. The spacing between the boards on the box is not even. The crew eyeballed this and as a result, some spaces are very close and some are very wide. Although time is money, one just expects things to be done once, and done right. It wasn?t worth getting back to the owner on this point; but I am truly not happy with the way the fence looks. The old fence, done 20 some years ago, had perfectly spaced boards. 5. It would have been fairly easy to install the boards so that they cover the nails for the rail as well. As it was, some of the nails are covered, most are not. This to me is basic craftsmanship. 6. The flow of boards from one section of the fence to the other is inconsitent throught the fence line. Some sections have the board on each side of the post, some section have spaces on each side of the post, some sections have board>post>space. Whichever way they choose to do it, they should have been consistent throughout the fence. 7. They installed the door handle on the side of the door anchor. A clear mistake, and when we called the owner to correct this they came and installed an additional handle. Uprooting the door locking mechanism would have cost them some labor and materials, so they went the easier route? 8. I should have looks at door hinges, handles and locks. The ones provided were stock commercial and although they might be sturdy, I really dislike the locking mechanism. I should have asked to see the hardware in advance, but it didn?t occur to me, so that one is on me. 9. The crew didn?t do a good job cleaning after them. Granted, my yard was in rather bad shape after the storm, but having to pick up pieces of wood all along the fence perimeter and occasional concrete block could have been accomplished with a simple walk-through. Overall, I am happy to have a fence, not so happy about the craftsmanship, it could have been done a lot better and I truly hope that the company takes my comments to heart.
