M.C. Fence and Deck

KC Colwell came out the morning of September 11th and accessed the job. We signed the contract onsite. Installation was set for September 17th. The lumber arrived the evening prior to the installation. The next morning the crew arrived and began installing the new fencing and gates. That afternoon Paul arrived with his helper and power-washed the existing fencing. We were very pleased with the outcome of the power-washing. Our next door neighbor even commented on how well the existing fencing looked after having been power-washed. The puppy-proofing didn't exactly resemble what we had envisioned. I called the office the following morning and spoke with Melissa. Mike Colwell came out on September 20th to inspect what had been done. A crew came out on September 24th, added 1 x 6 lumber and re-positioned the existing. The outcome is perfect! Our experience with Mike and his staff has been great. We look forward to working with MC Fence and Deck in the near future on the design and installation of our new sun porch and patio. You guys are great!

Very professional. Hardworking. Supervisor came out twice on the day of construction. Once to ensure the workers were properly installing the fence and once to ensure we were happy with the final product.

My husband and I needed to repair our leaning fence, so I called to set up an appointment for an estimate. The lady I talked to seemed busy and could not find a pen. But our appointment was set. I had taken a day off from work to be there for the estimate, but they never showed up. I called to see where they were but they didn't even have me in their system. I knew that was the company I called. I believe it could have been the owner that answered and he was very apologetic and he sounded very professional. At this point, I had already had an estimate from another fence company. I decided to give MC Fence and Deck another chance. He set up an appointment for that following Monday. My husband met someone from the company that Monday and liked what he heard regarding how they were going to repair the fence, It was more than what the other company was going to charge but MC Fence was more thorough to us. We soon made an appointment-they did it in a week and they were quick. I believe they showed up early morning. We love the end product. Just comes to show you that some people/companies deserve a second chance. I would recommend them because they are quick, fair, and knowledgeable.

The work started when promised, and though it took 2 days to complete rather than 1 day as promised, we are quite pleased. We are truly impressed with the workmanship and quality of our new fence. Manuel and his helper were superior workers and everyone who has seen the fence is impressed. Their ability to dig holes in our Virginia clay soil using only hand tools was inspirational. They arrived early and worked late, and nearly completed the job in one day. All the posts are straight and solid, there are no warped boards, the gate fitment is good, and they did a fine job of the finishing work, tacking down the wire mesh and installing post caps. The cedar looks wonderful and the beauty and forecast durability seem to be worth the increased cost. We obtained 3 written estimates before deciding on MC Fence. Theirs was the lowest price. I contacted MC Fence and Deck to request a bid to replace my back fence and 2 days later someone was there. (I had contacted another company from Angie's List and it took them several days to schedule the estimate.) MC's rep. was about 15 minutes late, but had the courtesy to call and let me know (stuck in traffic and, having just been in that traffic myself, I could understand!). About 20 minutes later, after hearing what I wanted and taking measurements, I had my estimate. WOW! This estimate was for exactly what I wanted done, nothing more and half the estimated price from the other company (who wanted to do more work than I wanted/needed). Plus, MC would repair the steps for no additional charge (the other guys wanted $450)! But what got MC a check right then was when the rep said they would be out the next Wednesday (other guys? a minimum of 2 weeks to be scheduled!). Wednesday arrived, and it was rainy. I thought, nope, the weather won't let them work today...well, I was wrong! The crew (2 nice young men) at 4 pm and got right to work. (The rain was almost gone and it wasn't that hard to begin with.) By 6:30 I had a new fence, repaired steps and a nice end to a yucky day. The team did a great job. No wasted time or effort. When they left, the area was cleaner than when the arrived. I am very impressed! MC Fence and Deck is a very professional company with wonderful people. If you need a fence, a deck, anything, call MC Fence and Deck. You WILL be pleased. I will definitely have these guys as my first choice!

Very easy to work with this company. They did an outstanding job of removing a very old split-rail fence and replacing with a new one. Cedar gates look very nice. KC and everyone at the company was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend and am planning on using them for some additional deck work I need done.

They provided a quote that was reasonable. However some of the items that were required by local building code were not included in the quote and the financing options made this deck more expensive.

I am very thankful that MC decking fixed a very serious issue with my existing deck. The existing deck is over 700 square feet with two tiers. Part of the second tier is covered and screened in, with an octagon shaped room, witch hat ceiling, and a fireplace. Over the July 4th weekend I was doing some work under the deck when I noticed that several of the posts were severely warped and several others had large cracks in them. I called several decking companies in the local area and had little success having anyone come out to the house to look at the issue. I made an appointment with MC Decking and KC came out to the house right on the scheduled time. I had hoped that only 3 of the posts would have to be replaced but after inspecting the deck with KC and putting a level on it, it was clear that all 14 posts had to be changed out. The cause of the warped posts had to do with my builder using grade 2 posts that were probably wet when they were installed, and they used the wrong attachment hardware to connect the posts at the top where they meet the band joists holding up the second floor. The warping was so bad, the second floor had sagged over 1.5 inches at the outer edge - clearly a disaster in the making. Within a few days after signing the contract, MC had a crew on site replacing all the posts with grade 1 lumber and used bolts and post connectors to properly attach the new posts. The also jacked up the second floor structure to get the floor as close to level as possible without damaging the roof and other connection points to the main house structure. This work required a very skilled company - MC was clearly the right choice. While the post replacement work was going on, we decided to go forward with a plan to add on to another portion of the existing second tier deck that is not covered but that tied into the screened in portion. The new extension is about 300 square feet and the existing uncovered decking surface was about 150 square feet. To attach the new decking to the house, MC had to cut through the stone veneer so that they could attached the new ledger board. They also had to make very clean cuts between the screened in decking the uncovered decking to remove the old boards and integrate the new deck boards. The stone masons did a great job cutting straight lines into the veneer. The deck crew is very skilled and worked very hard. The wood quality is top grade and the workmanship is outstanding. The crew did a great job cleaning up during the construction and once the project was completed. I really liked being able to reach a person instead of an answering machine when I called with questions or items that I wanted to ensure were addressed. Melissa did a great job making sure these items were quickly relayed to the crew. We are very happy with the new deck and highly recommend this company.

Simply put, it all went perfectly. We had used them for a fence installation earlier this summer and were so pleased with the quality of their work that we had them do our deck "face lift". Our deck was installed originally in 1993. Honestly, Mario and his crew are excellent craftsmen. They reinforced the boards under the deck. They expertly laid the new C-Select boarding and the deck looks brand new. They remade the 2 steps on either side of the deck and the new steps are much improved. Communication was exceptional. We never had to wonder what was going on or when work would resume. Melissa, who answers the phone at MC Fence and Deck, is incredibly responsive and very customer oriented. In short, it was a pleasure to have MC Fence and Deck work at our home and we highly recommend their services.

McFence & Deck were professional and responsive from the very first email inquiring about an estimate for the installation of a fence at our new home. We quickly received the detailed estimate via email as well as a follow up phone conversation to see if we had any questions. We have a bit of trouble getting the fence approved through our HOA and they were quick to reply with all the information needed to get the fence approved. Once the approval was received we were able to schedule the installation immediately! The crew arrived on time at 9:00 am and they were professional, courteous and extremely hard working. They are very detail oriented and do meticulous work ensuring every post was level and set properly. Once the posts were set the wire mesh and boards went up impressively fast! You could tell the workers were in sync with their every move while nailing and cutting the fence boards. Towards the end of the day an additional 2 workers arrived to help with cleanup and finishing touches and were done by 5pm! They left my yard as they found it cleaning up all the piles of dirt and rocks from digging the post holes to ensuring they didn't leave any nails or scraps behind. I greatly appreciate that since I have 4 dogs who get into everything! Throughout the day the project manager would come and check on the status of things and even brought back additional materials needed to complete the job. I have never worked with a company who took such care from start to finish. You can tell that they take pride in their work! The fence is absolutely gorgeous and we could not be happier with the quality of the work. Our neighbors and family are so impressed! I would recommend MCFence & Deck in a heartbeat!

I had a few company's that would not return my call or didn't show up for estimates and I called MC Fence and they have came out and replied to my emails and returned every phone call. So far they have been very prompt and informative every step of the way.

They were quick to schedule and provide a quote. In addition, the work was completed on time.

The crew was on time and explained/ ran through plan before starting. They worked very quickly and efficiently inspite of the 90 degree heat. It was a clean, well executed and professional job.

MC Fence was extremely responsive to my initial call for a quote. They came out within a few days and provided an estimate on the spot. After considering several contractors, I decided to go with MC Fence because they were the most professional, responsive and garnered my confidence in quality work. I was not disappointed with my decision. With all the rain in our area, the project was delayed a few days but the foreman and office manager called several times to let me know and ask for alternative install days that would be convenient for my schedule. They were even willing to work on July 5th even though that was a company holiday. Very impressed! The second highlight example of quality craftmanship came when the foreman stopped by my house to check on the material delivered by the distributor. Upon inspection of the material, the foreman found the quality of the wood to be unacceptable. Quote, "The wood looks like it has been sitting around for 20 years. I will not install that." Again, very impressed. New delivery of material was scheduled within a day. The day of the project, the crew arrived on time and immediately set to work. Entire project was finished within a day. Yard was left immaculate without any sign of construction whatsoever. Crew checked with me several times when they had questions or concerns and then ensured I was satisfied before they left for the day. I also received a call the following day from the Office Manger to ensure I was satisfied with the final product. It is so hard to find trustworthy, responsive contractors these days. MC Fence takes pride in the quality of their work, the products they use and the relationship and image they have with their customers. I give them the highest ratings possible for communication, fair pricing and quality craftmanship. Highly recommend this company for all your fence projects.

Spectacular! I was a little iffy at first since they claimed a single day install and Lowes would have taken much longer. I thought the job might be rushed or corners cut but I was wrong. I was also a little disappointed when I changed to a slightly taller fence (4 to 5 ft) and the price went up significantly more than I expected (although their original price was in line with other quotes so I imagine this increase would have been mirrored with any other contractor). However, they worked with me on the details at 4:30 on a Friday to ensure I got an updated quote and I signed it that day. I was called the day before the install as a reminder (they left a voicemail), and again the morning of to make sure I knew when they were coming. The workers showed up on time (although there were only 3 at first) and I went through the plan. They immediately started putting posts exactly where we had talked about. The Project Manager (Shane) showed up about 30-45 minutes into the work and I went through the plan with him again. At this point I was actually comfortable enough to leave them and head into work (I had planned on staying to make sure everything went well based on some of the other reviewers experiences). I got back in the afternoon and reconnected with Shane who said everything was going well and kept me up to date on some of the wood problems they had (supplier had given them some bad boards). Meanwhile he said they noticed some deep spots in my lawn and asked if I wanted them filled (awesome)! The fence looks great and so far I am extremely pleased with my purchase!

Estimator was there on time and took notes on job. Several days later I got the quote in e-mail that had less detail than two other quotes that I got, and was significantly higher in cost than the contractor I chose for the job (that worked out just fine).. I'd use this contractor in the future but if the quote/statement-of-work was similarly skimpy/vague I'd need more details in the quote before I'd seriously consider them.

MC Fence and Deck did a great job. We installed the fence for safety reasons for our children and the four board fence is working wonderfully for that purpose. It also looks really nice. We have received a number of compliments from our neighbors and it improves the appearance of our house. It seems to be a very solid fence and the cedar gates are well constructed and look beautiful. We did not have it painted. We liked the natural color so much that we will just be putting a wood preservative on the fence. The crew was pleasant and respectful. I would recommend MC Fence and Deck.

The installers did a great job, they built an excellent fence. But I wouldn't have gotten the fence I wanted if I wasn't onsite to explain exactly what I wanted. I had met with the estimator the previous week and I thought he wrote down what I wanted but that information was not conveyed to the installers. I am very happy with my fence, they do excellent work. You'll get a great fence if you do these two things: make sure you have EVERYTHING in writing and be onsite during the installation.

It worked out really well. They did a really good job and were very professional. KC the owner was very helpful and wasn't pushy when he came out for the estimate. They were punctual and got the job done in the time stated. His workers were very polite and professional.

I was very pleased with my experience with this company. I made the call and Casey was out within a few days to walk the property and talk to me about our options. He was prepared when I asked to see pictures of the different styles and materials we were considering. We got several other quotes theirs was the best. I then asked Casey if he could come back out to speak with my husband which he did on a Saturday and spent quite a bit of time answering our questions. We made our final decision on Monday I called Melissa on Tuesday to schedule. I was able to make the down payment over the phone. I then asked Melissa if it was possible to schedule for the following Monday. She made a phone call and made it happen. Materials were delivered on Friday and the fence was built on Monday in one day as promised! The guys who dropped the materials off were very considerate placing everything in the driveway so as not to kill the grass. The guys who built the fence cleaned up everything and I do mean everything after themselves. I have found nothing that got left behind not even a small piece of trash. The fence looks beautiful!! I can't say enough nice things about this company. I would recommend them to anyone and would personally use them in the future. We first got the quote from MC fence back in May. They were the best priced of the 3 providers we had come out. Billy was great and answered all of our questions. After the initial estimate, we worked with Billy to tweak it to meet our needs which he was happy to do. Communication was a little slower than I would have liked but not an issue at all. We just had the fence installed yesterday and I could not be happier with the end result. My biggest critique in the entire process would be the lack of communication leading up to the installation. No one called to let me know when to expect the crew and what I thought was going to be a morning install, ended up being an afternoon. But once Wilbur and his crew showed up, and after a delay from rain they did a fantastic job. Wilbur and I walked the job site before the install and we got on the same page as far as expectations. He communicated to me well about what his crew was going to do. As they were getting close to finishing, Wilbur and I again walked the site and I was able to point out a few boards that I was not satisfied with, which he had replaced immediately. And when I and he noticed a few nails that had missed their spot in the support beam, he fixed those as well. He was really top notch, I cannot compliment him enough. I would have liked his crew to be a little neater during the construction as far as water bottles, bundling wrap in the yard, etc... but they cleaned everything up before they left and I have no complaints there. The quality of the construction seems great and I am very happy with the look of it all, including the gates. The gates were built on site and are very sturdy and look like they will last for many many years. I would definitely recommend MC Fence.

Work crew was punctual and efficient. They even had to deal with my nutty neighbors who kept trying to give them instructions. There was an incident where my cable/internet/phone connection was cut but MC Fence called it in to Verizon and I had temporary service reinstalled by morning. Verizon also gave me a hard time when they came to do the permanent work, but one phone call to MC Fence and they took care of it.
