I had water damage in the house. I had a choice of using a company suggested by the insurance company or choosing someone myself. Since I did not like anyone from the insurance company, I went to Angies list for suggestions. I called several people from Angies list. Bismarck gave me a good price and I felt we could work together. Marvin, the project manager was excellent and very accomodating. They came on time and completed the job within the allotted time. I left the team alone in the house while I was at work. They did everything we agreed on. I would definitely use them again. My only complaint was that they were a little messy. For example, they knew the rug was going to be replaced so they did not cover the rug completely. My furniture is old and also needs to be replaced, but it could have been covered better. I talked with Marvin and Bismarck about this and will be more aware the next time I have them paint.. I talked with other girlfriends about workmen in their homes and unfortunately I think this is a "man" thing. Men just are not as consciencious as women when it comes to not being messy.

Thank you for the good review and positive feedback! I do just want to clarify that there was another contractor working on the drywall prior to us beginning our scope of work. While we were sure to cover the furniture, nothing had been covered before we arrived. Knocking down walls creates quite a mess when nothing is protected. Also, as stated, we did not completely cover the carpet because we already knew it was being taken out and replaced. I am glad to hear you are happy with the work completed and we'd be happy to return if you require more work done in the future.

Bismarck and his crew did an excellent job repairing water damage to our townhouse from an ice dam this past winter. They were very accommodating in using the materials that we desired (e.g. formaldehyde-free insulation, Low VOC paints, etc.). The crew was very efficient and completed the work in about 4 days. We were very happy with the results and plan on using Lomar Painting in the future.

The work went very well and met my expectations. Bismarck and I started with a statement of work, his team arrived and was professional, and during the course of the work I added additional projects to the original SOW. The Lomar team was able to adjust, extend their time on site and in addition to the high overall quality of work I felt I received, I was also very happy with their pricing.
Description of Work: Various exterior areas were painted - front porch, garage door & trim, exterior moldings. I also had my deck and rear fence pressure washed and re-stained. Interior work included having my garage mudded, skimmed and painted. I had two ceilings repainted. I also had various areas of trim and doorframe work repaired and painted throughout my home.

Very friendly but I had to point out way too many fixes (insufficient amount of paint, over paint, drips, etc.). Those things were corrected but I shouldn't have had to point them all out. Way too much paint was purchased, which of course I paid for.

This job was completed over a year ago, so I am disappointed to hear of any dissatisfaction now. I scheduled the job, showed up when we were scheduled, worked consecutive days and we finished in a timely manner. There were no issues on punctuality or responsiveness, yet I only received a “B” rating in these areas. Touch ups and clean up is a part of every job. Some clients are a little more meticulous than others, but I always ensure 100% satisfaction. We were very thorough and the end result was flawless. Each project is unique, and we always try to estimate the right amount of paint to purchase. On average, each standard sized room uses approximately 2 gallons of paint. If there is ever any extra, it is always left with the customer for future touch ups or other work. However, if there is any further concern regarding the amount of extra paint, I would buy back any unopened cans without question. We would never purposely over purchase paint. If after a year there are still customers’ concerns regarding the quality of the end result, feel free to give me a call since I confidently stand by any work performed by my company.

In a word, outstanding. Lomar Painting provided exemplary customer service from beginning to end. After calling Bismarck (the owner) on the phone to request an estimate, he came by our house a couple of days later, and provided an itemized estimate via email shortly thereafter. He was so confident in his services that he did not even require a deposit, stating that we could pay him the full amount after the job was complete and we were completely happy. I had previously researched painting contractors on Angie's List, and I was very impressed by his willingness to do business on a (virtual) handshake, so I decided to go with Lomar Painting. Bismarck was responsive both over the phone and via email to a myriad of questions and issues I had throughout the process. The power washer came out on a Saturday. The carpenters came out on the following Monday. There was quite a bit of rotten wood that needed to be replaced, and they even replaced some areas not on the original estimate, which they found after-the fact, at no additional charge. They also used never-rot trim at no additional charge. About eight of his painters showed up on schedule first thing in the morning after the carpentry work was completed. They worked from dawn until dusk for the following two days. They were a very friendly and cheerful bunch; chatting, singing, and whistling while they diligently and meticulously primed, sanded, caulked everything, and painted (two coats) with high quality Sherwin Williams paint. It was a sight to behold. They all wore their Lomar Painting t-shirt ?uniforms? and spoke fluent English ? I had no problem communicating with them. They were very respectful and responsive to my questions and concerns. Bismarck came out regularly to oversee, inspect, and direct the work being done in person. I was unhappy with some of the carpentry work that was done on the moulding around a large 2-story palladian window, so I called Bismark about it (after it had already been caulked and painted). He had it removed and completely and beautifully redone the very same day. Bismarck maintained from the beginning that I would be 100% satisfied with their work, and he proved to be man of his word. He exemplifies the spirit and intent of the "Semper Fi" slogan he shares with his fellow Marines. I have had numerous problems in the past with contractors, but Lomar Painting is a refreshing exception to rule of dubious qualifications, unreliable service, and shoddy work that sadly characterizes the majority of contractors in this area. My home looks beautiful. This was money well spent, and I plan on using them again to paint the interior of my home. In summary, I recommend Lomar Painting enthusiastically and without reservation.
Description of Work: Power wash entire house; carpentry work and supplies to replace all rotten wood; prep, sand, dust, clean, caulk, prime and paint with 2 coats of high quality exterior paint all trim, doors, windows, rake boards, fascia boards, gables, shutters, stair railings, and foundation of exterior for large (~6,000 sq. ft) single family home.

Lomar is wonderful! Arrived on-time. Very, very fair in his pricing. His workers were thorough and did excellent job. Cleaned up everyday. My only small complaint is that one of his workers didn't move a very large outdoor pot, with fragile wysteria limbs, back to its original position on deck and one of the branches broke. Other than that, absolutely no issues. Would highly recommend.

Lomar Painting does it all -- Very competitive price; very high quality, extremely nice and professional management and staff, reliable, fast, and accessible. We have used Lomar Painting twice this year. First, they painted the entire interior of our home (3 levels), installed crown molding, replaced closet doors. The estimate provided was the most competitive. The crew was very professional, friendly, fast and tidy. We had them come back a few months later to power wash the house, paint the home exterior, mud room walls and concrete floor, and fence. Bismarck Lopez is very customer service oriented -- his standard answer is "No Problem, we can do it!". and the best part is his company delivers on his promise.

stopped at the estimate. felt i needed to report my concerns.
Description of Work: On the plus side, very punctual, very professional. On the minus side, I received the following outrageous estimate for painting a two car garage. I consider it beyond ridiculous. $810 total: one coat, white paint, small area needing some primer. I could see maybe $300 on the outside would be reasonable. we are talking about a 2-3 hour job! maybe 3 gallons of paint? "It was a pleasure meeting you. Below is the breakdown: -Prime water spot with oil base stain blocker $75.00 -paint Garage $600.00 -materials primer and paint $135.00 Let me know if you'd like me to proceed and I'll schedule this work as soon as possible. No work was performed for this member. I do not believe an overall rating of "D" was warranted on this report since it was only an estimate. The member called, I scheduled the estimate for the same day, and I was on time – demonstrating my above average responsiveness; I only received a “B”. Although complementing me on my punctuality and professionalism, the member still only gave me a "B" for those categories as well. The work going into what seems like such an easy job to a client is more involved than it seems. For an entire two car garage, clearing the space, prepping, covering, point up, sanding, priming, painting, cleaning and hauling debris away is more than just painting a garage. This doesn’t even include nuances such as applying an oil-based stain blocker to a large water stain as in the case here. The $300.00 mentioned by the member as a reasonable payment would actually be below my cost. My contractor’s cost alone in paint would have been $135.00. It’s unfortunate that this member feels she needs to give me such a low rating when no work was performed. As a successful and established small business in the DC metro area, I’m almost always in the middle with my pricing compared to my competition. However, the quality and level of service we provide is superb and incomparable as evident in my history with Angie’s List.

We found Bismarck on Angie?s List and chose him due to the rave reviews. And a job well done?our house looks beautiful and we couldn?t be more pleased with the workmanship. His team was courteous, hard working and truly ?whistled while they worked.? They did a great job with cleanup and my husband and I had to laugh, because they power washed our driveway and made it cleaner than before they started. We needed the work done quickly, before our deck construction project was to start. He came on a Friday and finished on a Saturday. He was very accommodating to our schedule. Additionally, Bismarck was very accessible and responsive to our questions before, during and after the job. After the job was done one of the screws came loose on a gutter downspout, too high for us to reach. He came out the same day we called (on a Sunday by the way!) to fix. We were not in a rush, but he really wanted to ensure all work was expeditiously completed. He was very committed to ensuring that we were satisfied with his work. We definitely plan on calling this company back each year for caulking touch ups, etc. and will most definitely refer him to our friends and neighbors.
Description of Work: Power washed the back of our house. Replaced wood rot in a lot of our outside trim and at least 25% of a bay window. Sanded/caulked/painted all outside wood trim, bay window, and bumpout. Originally the amount of work we needed done was a little outside of our price range but Bismarck was willing to negotiate a price we were able to meet and even painted our gutters for free (and boy, did that make a huge difference)! He found some extra rotted boards once the job started and did not price gouge to get those done. He used a paint by Sherwin Williams called Duration. I had never heard of it, but it has a lifetime guarantee that it will not crack, peel, etc. It looks really nice!

We had a leaking roof which resulted, among other things, in drywall damage to the ceiling. We ran into Bismarck Lomar (owner) at a local paint store and he asked about our ongoing project (repainting the deck). He gave us some helpful tips about types of brushes for the deck painting. After a brief conversation and a little chit-chat, he informed us of his business and gave us a card. We told him we were in need of some repairs and painting and scheduled a free estimate. Bismarck gave us a complete estimate on the drywall repair and painting of several trouble spots in our home. In the end we decided only to have the damaged area from the leaking roof fixed. Bismarck sent two guys over to complete the repair and they were done in about an hour. They completed the job in a very professional manner and the work was top notch. The price was a little more expensive than other quotes, but Bismarck was very personable and confident. We trusted the reviews on Angie?s List and were glad we chose Lomar Painting.

We brought the company in for an estimate on the day the cabinets were finished being built by another contractor. The doors were being custom built so would be 2 weeks from being ready for painting. Bismark from Lomar sent the estimate the next day and said that when we got the doors to let them know and they would schedule the job. The doors were installed on Tuesday and the painters came on Friday of the same week. He arrived with two guys and explained the job to them before leaving. They worked steadily all day and we had no issues with either of them. They were very nice and did a great job. They asked for the wall paint so that they could make sure that they left with clean lines. They were in and working by 9:15 and out by 4:30 having primed and applied two coats to everything.

Excellent work. Showed up on time. Stayed on budget. Cleaned up every evening. Came back immediately if there was an issue. Great company and the owner stands behind the work. Lomar also let me choose which brand of paint I wanted to use -- with paint, it's very important to get the best!
Description of Work: I've used Lomar Painting 3 times in the past 3 years: (1) extensive interior painting after we moved into the home; (2) the entire exterior of the home; and (3) most recently, a theater room.
We had extensive water damage from the winter storms plus a leak from our master bath so the initial thought was just to have these things repaired, but we also asked for a quote to fix/improve other areas of our home (paint garage, stain deck, install storm door). The quote for all of the work we needed was very reasonable and we were so impressed with Bismarck's professionalism that we felt comfortable having his company do all of the work. We are so glad we did!! He and his crew showed up when they promised and were so courtious and respectful of our house. Before doing any work they put down drop cloths and taped plastic to the walls and over all our furniture since we had the ceilings painted. After the work was complete they cleaned up to include polishing my wood fruniture-my house was cleaner than when they arrived! We felt they went above and beyond what was quoted by paying very close attention to details I am sure others would have missed. The crew that was sent worked so efficiently they finished all but the deck stain in one day-I thought it would take several. I recommend Lomar Painting to anyone who has any paint, drywall or other home improvement project! I am very very happy!
Description of Work: Ceiling drywall repair, paint main and upper level ceilings, powerwash and stain deck, prime and paint garage, window drywall repair and paint, caulk second and third story windows, install storm door, re-grout bathroom tiles
where do i start! they were amazing , bismarck is a great guy extremely trust worthy and easy going. His attention to detail is impeccable. His guys were so nice and they were all so professional but fun too always laughing! over all I trusted him with the keys to my place and they finished the job in 4 days instead of a week. Bismarck also recommended an electrician to put in recess lighting for me who by the way gave me a good quote comparable to all the others I got and he did an excellent job. Bismarck worked with my schedule since I always had to meet him extra early in the morning before I went to work. Even the cleaning lady he had clean my place after wards did a great job. As for the actual job I LOVED IT...he recommended some color on a wall I was planning on keeping the same as the other wall and it turned out gorgeous. The painting job was amazing well worth every penny I paid for and anything I didnt like he changed with no fuss or anything basically his number one priority was for the customer to be happy and what more can one ask for. LOOK NO FURTHER he really is amazing. I will def be recommending him to everyone I know and using him for future jobs too. He also installed my elfa closet so instead of getting the container store to do it for (who by the way will rip you off with installation costs ) you should get him to do. He installed my ikea furniture too and did an amazing job. Like I said look no further.

The result was amazing! Not only did Bismarck and his brother Gerardo show up on time, they displayed a work ethic seldom found among today's contractors. They set themselves apart from the usual horror stories you hear about no-shows, shoddy work, faulty estimates, late starts and early departures, unprofessional workers, etc. by showing up when they said they would, doing work that befits homes of the very best caliber, providing exacting estimates of the work to be done and the cost, starting early and staying to complete as much each day as possible, and responding immediately to any of our concerns. And, each worker they brought through the doors to our home shared their values. We were so impressed by their work we have asked them to come back and do additional work that isn't related to the damage caused by the storms. We anticipate they will be doing more work for us in the future and we are pleased to have them come back into our home. They truly exemplify the motto they show proudly..."Semper Fi"
Description of Work: Repair of paint and drywall damaged as a result of the Winter storms we experienced in the Washington Metro area in February. Ice dams caused leaks in the kitchen, master bedroom, family room, two other bedrooms, and office in our home. We were very concerned that the quality of our house be maintained through the quality of the contractor hired to do the repairs. We interviewed several firms and paid close attention to the prior feedback provided by Angies List members. After careful consideration we hired Lomar Painting to do the work.

Once more, excellent in every way. We are a return customer, and have another job that Bismarck and his team will tackle for us - painting our kitchen cabinets. If, as a homeowner, you value the type of contractor that is punctual, honest, provides superior service, proactively offers solutions, has a courteous and professional crew, and takes care when in your home - Lomar Painting comes through. Bismarck scheduled his team to work within our schedule - they always arrived on time and completed the work within the estimated time. They handled all the logistics. The carpenter who built our bench seats in the guest room did beautiful work - We are very pleased and satisfied customers!
Description of Work: Interior painting - walls in the guest room, living room, dining room, kitchen, downstairs hallway and stairwell down to basement. Bismark and his brothers are very pleasant and responsive and they bring a big team of people to get the job done quickly. I was not aware of just how many people would come and get nervous having a lot of contractors in my house because the more people have, the more difficult it is to control quality (as was the case). To put it in perspective, there were no fewer than 8 painters excluding the brothers. The Lomar team did do as I ask, but several times I had to repeat myself, and I had to point out obvious poor workmanship for redo's. My only other paintly comparison was my having used a prior contractor who worked alone, was reasonably fast for working alone, and had incredible quality. I wanted this done a little more quickly and at a slightly better price. I thought that using Angies List would get me someone of equal quality. Lomar failed to match the trim exactly, despite having taking out a piece of already painted closet rod to be matched. As such, the first coat of trim was was so obviously hastily applied as you could look at the trim (and doors) from across the room and see two colors on the same piece of wood. The second coat was better, but still around the house I am distressed by the fact that there are parts of trim everywhere that was hastily done, and it simply looks bad. On top of that, some doors were not painted (because they had fixtures like blinds on them) and the trim simply doesn't match. There are many places where the wall paint application is not consistent and one can see the from one section to the other, and sometimes within section, where the application is either a coat or two different, or simply just applied unevenly. When they painted the color, there were many places on the trim where the color was painted over the trim, necessating the trim repainting at my suggestion. I am not happy with the texture of the paint. Its not smooth eggshell, but a kind of stubbly eggshell. It is the color and brand I had selected, but I was not accusted to to a contractor actually going out and buying home depot brand paint - normally, the contractor I had previously used just got his own paint but was higher quality. There are spots of paint everywhere. On bath hardware, on fixtures, on cabinents, on trim, everywhere. The crew damaged my couch. It is a sectional, and two pieces no longer fit together because the clasp underneath was ripped in half. I took a risk by changing from someone I was used to, for the sake of saving a few bucks. I won't do that again. I'm sure as far as painters go, Lomar is about average, but I wouldn't recommend average. Perhaps that's what most people get and think that's pretty good. If you want a good painter, I'll give you a recommendation. I'm using my guy from now on, no matter what the price.
Description of Work: I had Lomar Painting paint 95% of the interior of my house plus the trim and doors. All in, 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, and lots of hallways space.

I used the same painters that have gotten me the Super Service Award 3 years in a row. The homeowner approved all colors, paint, and work. When referring to “redo’s”, I believe he means the touchups that were required to complete the job – as always. The home is fairly new construction and he asked us to straighten all the towel racks the builder had installed. To the naked eye, the racks were slightly crooked, so using a level, we did straighten them out. One of towel racks still looked cockeyed after straightening it and after using a level and checking the adjacent wall, we figured out the corner was what was actually crooked. The tile aligned to the crooked corner was what made the level towel rack look uneven. Again, this goes back to the original builder. The homeowner chose the paint (colors and finish) from Home Depot. When they failed to match the trim color 100%, it was brought up to the homeowner's attention and he said it was still okay and approved the color. I have never had a problem requesting that Home Depot rematch any paint they mismatch, but the homeowner did not require it. The only doors that were not painted were inside the closet; inside closets were not included in the scope of work. If any were overlooked we’ll be more than happy to paint them. We straightened the aforementioned towel racks and installed a peep hole on his aluminum door free of charge, as I am always looking to ensure my customer’s happiness. We did a thorough clean up and there was never any mention of the sofa, nor the discontent with the color or quality. This is the first time I’ve been made aware of this homeowner’s dissatisfaction. He seemed happy when we finished the job, and he paid at the end of the job when touch ups he pointed out were complete. If you do not tell me there is a problem, I can not fix it. I stand behind my work and the quality. I will do whatever you would like to ensure your 100% satisfaction. For the record, this is the 2nd "D" grade I've ever gotten in my life. The only other was a Statistic summer course in college...

Overall, the job was completed as agreed upon. Lomar helped us select the right kind of paint (we wanted no-VOC paint and they helped suggest a high quality paint at a medium price range), showed up on time, and completed the job before the end of the day. They made sure to remove the railings on the stairs and to cover up the carpeting to avoid any painting accidents. My only complaint is there appears to be a few darker spots on the walls which show through the paint - I believe these are spots in which they tried to caulk imperfections in the walls and admittedly, the paint color we chose was very light. In the end, my husband and I are impressed with their professionalism and would hire them again.
Description of Work: We wanted two stairwells, an upstairs hallway, and a medium sized room painted. The Lomar team completed the job in one day.

They were awesome. Bismarck gave me a quote for the job. He was very personable and polite. I asked when they were able to start and he said they would accommodate my schedule. I told him I needed them the next day or as soon as possible after that (we needed the painting done before we moved & started having furniture delivered). He said it wouldn't be a problem. The painters were able to start the next day and finish in one day (the estimate was two days). I did have them come back on the second day for minor touch ups but that only took a couple hours. Other companies quoted me a week for the same job. Even though they finished ahead of schedule they did not sacrifice quality. They painted two coats in every room and on the dark color I chose for one bathroom they painted three (at no extra charge). The paint job looks awesome. Everyone who sees it compliments the work they did. I've already recommended them to a friend who's thinking about painting in her home. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a painter.
Description of Work: Painted bedrooms, kitchen, living/dining, closet & bath rooms of 2 bedroom loft style condo.

The carpenters came out on Sunday. They were very quick and thorough. Came right in and got to work. Since this was a Sunday we were home with all 3 kids and our dog in a small townhouse. They were able to work around us with ease. They gentlemen were very nice and professional. They completed their work in just a few hours. The painting crew came out on Monday and were right on time. Unfortunately I was unable to kennel my dog on short notice and one of my kids was sick and unable to go to school. They allowed us some extra time to gather up our brood but were able to enter and start their work around our chaos. Again the painters were also very friendly, professional and respectful. They were very clean and tried to contain the paint dust from sanding which is nearly impossible. All of my furniture was covered with plastic and they vacuumed and removed all of the 'mess' when they were done. The painted walls looked great. My finished basement now looks like part of the house instead of a basement. I love it. The kitchen and living room also came out looking wonderful. They used Sherwin Williams paints and I am very happy with the finish and colors. I think the best looking part is my upstairs staircase and banister railing. That needed to be painted terribly from kids fingerprints, scuff marks, etc and even though I chose a light color you can not tell the destruction that was under the paint. I had asked for a paint on the hand railing that would hide the dirt from kids hands and they used a very shiny oil based paint. I think that looks awesome. I was very pleased with their work, and their professionalism. I also thought the price was perfect. Exactly what i wanted to spend. They had to patch a lot of holes, fix a ceiling from a water stain, paint doors, paint 2 colors in the kitchen - one them being red and work in a small space. My townhouse is not very spacious. I would definitely, with out question, use them again.
Description of Work: Lomar was recommended to us by a coworker of my husband. Mr. Lopez came out on a Saturday for a quote and was able to start work the next day. They were prompt and very courteous. Lomar hung 8 doors for us including folding pantry doors. They fixed a water damaged spot in a ceiling, spackled holes through out, and painted 4 rooms, all doors, , a ceiling, a hallway and 2 stair cases in 2 days.

Contacted homeowner about getting a "B" on quality. Informed her that if there was anything she wasn't pleased with to let me know and we'd make sure to make it right. She stated that there was no issue, everything is good to go and that it was suppose to be an "A".
