JD Painting

Very well. Responsive to my questions. Very neat and clean while working. Everything wasn't torn up. When one area was complete they put it back together before moving on.

JD Painting came well recommended to me by Michael Elias, a Virginia real estate agent I know. The JD Painting representative, Dario, met with me on March 1st for consultation, assessment, measurements, and recommendations. Within 24-hours, I received a detailed proposal and pricing estimate via email from JD Painting that accurately represented our discussions during the assessment. For comparison and so that I could make a well informed selection, I obtained a second estimate for the same work from another provider. Based on my interaction with each company representative, and the competitive price offered by JD Painting, I selected JD Painting to perform the work. Following our agreement to the scope and terms, the JD Painting crew arrived at my home as scheduled. The crew was clean, courteous, careful, and thorough. They performed work at a level of expertise and attention to detail that pleased me greatly, using clean drop cloths, tape, and ensuring no drips were on window glass or on hardwood floors. Additionally, JD Painting went the extra measure, such as removing switch covers, removing lighting fixtures, removing curtains & drapes, removing pictures, moving furniture, AND cleaning fixtures & replacing light bulbs when painting was finished. When the crew finished the initial agreed upon work, I asked if they would paint the dining room and portions of the kitchen. The response to do so was immediate. JD Painting also does home improvement work, and, so they agreed to remove & replace grout in two bathrooms, and paint the exterior of my front door. Solid work, done on time, on budget, worthy of recommendation and repeat business.

He is a good guy, but he has a lot of clients so you have to make sure he comes in a timely manner. He does good work as well.

Dario (the owner) and his crew did a very good job. We have used JD Painting before, and we were very happy with the services that they provided. They were patient with us as we modified some of the services and finishes that we wanted on the fly. The crew took the time to prep the spaces well, and they worked very effeciently every day. Dario always made us feel like our business was very important to him, and he always stressed the importance of making sure that we were happy in the end. He delivered on his promise, as we are very happy.

He went out of his way to do a few little extra things, including a little dry wall patching and work on the outlets. Great outfit.

The crew arrived early, did no prep work, did nothing to protect surrounding landscaping. Quickly power washed fence then immediately started spraying on stain. Stain is still covering all our gate latches, leaving them a sticky mess in the heat of the summer. They did nothing to prevent this or clean up afterwards. DO A BACKGROUND CHECK on Juan Dario Cuevas Jurado (owner) before letting him in your home. He has charges of stalking, assault/battery and trespassing. I know first-hand the details of these charges and I have a permanent personal protective order, protecting me and my family against him.

Arrived on time. Protected all surfaces with drop cloths. Discussed which nail holes should be left. Found rough drywall areas that needed repair. Painted walls and ceiling (repairing place where ceiling light fixture had been removed). Removed and painted all switch plates as requested. Cleaned up area beautifully. Was very cooperative and cheerful. It was a pleasant experience.

Owner previously lived in neighborhood and started business as a 2 man painting crew. Intial foyer, kitchen, and family room paint job mediocre. Could have done a better job on surface preparation. Over time noticed stray brush marks on ceiling and on decorative hardware such as stair rail brackets. I would not expect this from professional painters. Did not paint the inside of closet or pantry doors. He should have pointed this out whether or not is was included in price. They simply ignored this. Had to get him back to remove all of the paint overspray from the foyer window which was quite noticeable with the morning sun. The recessed lighting job he accomplished was botched. For some time we noticed that the powder room in our foyer was getting warm when the door was closed. We also discovered that the pantry ceiling was extremly hot at which time I knew a problem existed. What we discovered was that the dryer duct from the recessed light install that he had performed, had been knocked loose and the dryer was venting into the ceiling (our laundry room is upstairs). We had to cut a hole in the ceiling to resecure the duct. At that time I also observed that the vent duct from the powder room which ran through the kitchen ceiling to the outside, was partially crushed. They had decided to cut a hole in the ceiling for those recessed lights and it was in the way so it was partially collapsed to make room for the light can. Soon afterwards I allowed him to finish my basement. It turned out ok, but I had to look at the work being performed carefully and several things needed corrected. My biggest problem with this job was that it entirely too long. Some weeks they would only show up one day. He was working too many jobs, taking on new work before finishing clients jobs that had already been started. The people he was using as subcontractors generally showed up when he said they would, it was his own people that we had dependability issues with. This entire job took approximately 3 months to finish when it could have been completed in a matter of several weeks. Also he is not a licensed contractor and will have the homeowner pull all neccessary permits to imply that work is a homeowner completed project. Sometime after this work was completed noticed gaps when downstairs doors he installed were closed. These were prehung doors that were not properly shimmed at the bottom when installed. When the doors are closed a gap exists between the door and jamb, allowing visiblity into the rooms when the doors are closed. I showed this to him over a year ago and he indicated that he would be there on a certain day. He no showed with out a phone call. I ran into him again several months ago and again got the same results, promises to show up and then no shows. One more time this past Sunday night, February 28, I ran into him at Home Depot and once again was promised that he was going to be here on Moday, March 1 at 6:00 pm because I indicated that I had some handyman work that I could let him do. Once again he no showed without a phone call. The last work he actually performed for me was to repaint the master bedroom. Once again a mediocre paint job, I found spots missed with several spatters on some of the doors. I would not recommend him due to his habit of not returning phone calls and reliability issues. This is not a professional painter.

The owner is very thorough and responsible. He's willing to work with you and make corrections if you're not happy with the work. Very friendly and personable.
