+ 1 moreGot estimates from several ProVia dealers, Hodges Company was the best, in terms of responsiveness ( phone and email), product knowledge, price, and installation. The salesperson, Tom, had worked for the company as an installer for many years - he removed the interior casing to measure the true rough door opening size and determined that 12" sidelights could be used instead of the 10" ones proposed by others, which resulted in a wider choice of sidelight options (decorative glass) and better price. Their delivery time was better than others, and their showroom offered large sample of the available options (steel/fiberglass,colors, glass, locks, etc). The lead installer, Mark, was a true craftsman; he relocated the doorbell button at my request and did a great job on the extra trim work on the sides of the door. They setup an plastic tent on the inside, protecting the interior of the house from installation dust ...

+ 0 moreI selected Hodges after looking at reviews on Angie's List. I liked that they are a local company with a long history. It was a good choice, and a great experience. Rafael Lobos worked with me to do an estimate appointment while I was in town for a week from overseas while the property was rented. He presented three options of windows from different manufacturers at different price points, but all of good quality. There was no pressure at all. Rafael listened to what we wanted and delivered a quote that I thought was very reasonable. I stopped by the Hodges showroom to look at actual samples of the different windows and sliding glass doors. The staff at the showroom took time to go over the different products with me, again with no pressure. Hodges worked with my property management company to do the installation after the tenant moved out, but while we were still overseas. This was a big help in shortening our move-in timeline. We are extremely happy with the quality of the installation and the windows. Everything looks great, and we felt the cost was very reasonable. We would definitely recommend Hodges.

+ -1 moreHodges is the best. We have bought all our windows, three very nice doors, and our shutters through them. They are one of the most professional companies I have ever dealt with. Yes, they are more expensive than Home Depot but in return you get reliable service, professional installation, and a strong commitment to their customers and reputation. We had new shutters installed 5 years agao (yup 5 years ago) and two were tilting. We called them up and they sent someone out who repaired the tilt. There was no charge. When they installed one of our Previa doors they had to deal with a very settled house. They spent 1+ day getting it right. If you need windows or doors installed-hire them!

+ 1 moreFrom the first phone call to the sales rep coming to the house to review details and then the installers everything was handled very professional and reviewed all details before, during and after from start to finish. They took 2 measurements one by sales rep and one buy installer team before placing order to insure no delays. They were able to solve a problem with an outdated back entry door and reuse the original glass tram over top of old door and order new UV glass to insert into the old wood frame. Another company wanted to drywall over and order new siding and did not consider this as an option which would have cost us more money. So overall, we were very pleased to see the installers work through a 2hr weather delay due to some wind and rain and still complete the job the same day as scheduled.

+ -1 moreOur old wooden door and frame were both badly warped, and we knew we needed both a new door and the existing doorframe rebuilt. After deciding on Hodges, the whole process was essentially effortless. We met with Brian, the salesperson, in the showroom, reviewed options, selected the door (a ProVia Signet fiberglass) and scheduled the installation for four weeks out, allowing time for door fabrication and shipment. Brian came out for initial measurements and another person came out for final measurements. We received a confirmation e-mail the day before installation. Installation was scheduled to start "between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m." and the two person crew arrived at 7:40. Installers indicated it usually takes 3-4 hours, sometimes less, sometimes more, depending on what they find when they remove the existing door frame. They were polite, professional, worked quickly, created no mess, did a beautiful job, and were done in less than 3 hours. I thought before the installation that I would probably have to do some minor plaster repair and touch-up after they removed the old door frame, but they did such a good job that they didn't damage any of the plaster. They re-installed the doorbell button, which required adding a little extra wire (the old wire was brittle, and some broke off when I removed the doorbell). They also matched the new trim to the previous trim. And it is a beautiful door! A worry-free experience from beginning to end.

+ -1 moreHodges are true professionals. They invited us to their showroom to discuss the various options available, from wood to fiberglass and vinyl. They also explained and discussed the energy efficiency ratings on the windows. From previous study, I think the price was reasonable, especially considering the quality of the experience. After ordering the windows with about 50% down-payment, they scheduled with us promptly when the windows arrived at their warehouse. On installation day, they were promptly at work in the morning and the work was speedy. Their three-man team pulled out the old windows two at a time and put in the new ones quickly - only leaving an open hole for a few minutes on the cold day. They sealed the windows with caulk and wrapped the trim with aluminum/PVC cover that matched the previous trim color perfectly. They completed all 15 windows by mid-afternoon, left the place cleaner than when they arrived, and gave a lesson on the window operation. The new windows are fantastic. The house is quieter, there's no more condensation on the inside of the windows, so we're sure they're much more efficient. Operation of these windows compared to the old wooden windows is night & day difference. Great job. Highly recommended.

+ -1 moreI contacted Hodges via their website contact portal and after a week of not being contacted I called them and set up an appointment for an estimate between 3 and 3:30 PM on the 9th of October 2013; nobody showed up?????? The may do good work (not sure) but getting an estimate seems more difficult than I would like to deal with. I will wait and see if they contact me............. Update: the service provider has stated that they attempted to contact me and left two messages on my phone messaging system......not true; I am a disabled veteran and remain home all day--nobody contacted me and I have not missed messages. Lies of this nature should direct you to take your business elsewhere---I had very good luck and prompt service from a company named Nova Exteriors to which I hired.

+ 0 moreWe have used Hodges for several window install and replacements jobs. They are always easy to work with and are very professional. They have always showed up on time and have completed the projects either on time, or sometimes faster than their original estimate. With our latest job, they thought it would take about 2 full days to install the bay window and replace the 3 smaller windows. Instead, they were able to complete the entire job in just one day. They also took care to not do any damage to my plants I have infront of the bay window as I was very concerned they would get trampled during the installation. They also take care to cover your furniture with drop cloths to try and keep the dust to a minimum and do a good job of cleaning up afterwards.
Description of Work: Removed two large double-hung windows with a large bay window and replaced 3 wood single hung windows with 3 vinyl double hung windows.

They did not provide the lowest cost estimate, but we are very satisfied by the quality of the work performed. Hodges was prompt in returning calls and returning to the house to adjust the french door.
Description of Work: Replacement of 23 double hung, external grid, vinyl windows and one french door. Service included abatement for lead paint (extra fee per window). Follow-up visit to adjust the french door was conducted at no additional cost.

The storm door is substantial (even more so than the back storm door by the same manufacturer) and the three replacement windows inside and out look great. John worked with us and came up with several options depending on our budget and what we wanted to accomplish given the location of the windows and the appearance of the house. Hodges also worked with the storm door manufacturer to replace the hardware on the rear door (under warranty) which was chipping a bit. The two person crew did an excellent job--very clean and did not damage any foliage outside next to the windows. I have before and after photos for the windows--the improvement is obvious inside and out!

+ 0 moreThe sales representative met with us in our home and we met with him in the showroom at a later date. He worked with us via email and telephone until all of the details were addressed. The windows were ready in about 3 weeks of our order and Hodges craftsmen completed the job in approximately 6 hours. They were careful in our home and very skilled in their trade. We were completely satisfied with their work and the windows are exactly as we wanted.
Description of Work: We have selected Hodges for windows and doors on three occasions over the past 12 years, the most recent being the purchase of five Jenn-Weld casement windows to replace those original to the house built in 1987. I compared and chose the Jenn-Weld wooden windows over Pella fiberglass and another manufacturer's vinyl replacement windows. I also chose Hodges because of my previous positive experiences. On a previous occasion, Hodges provided and installed metal entrance doors on the front and rear of the house. I was very satisfied with their material and installation. (I include this next tip for those of you who would like to get a durable custom color on a metal door. I ordered the front door to be delivered primed only and I took it to an auto body shop where it was painted with a custom automotive paint. I did this because the door is in the full summer sun nearly all day long and neither oil-based or latex paint would hold its dark cranberry color. The latex would actually get tacky and stick to the weather strip. This auto paint solution is complemented by nearly everyone who comes to our home and I have been very happy with it. It has held up for several years and shows no sign of deterioration.) Our earliest contract with Hodges was to get storm windows to be added to our existing double hung widows. We decided to go with storm windows rather than replacement windows as there was nothing really wrong with the windows. Based on our experience living in Chicago, we believed we would gain better sound-proofing and insulation by using storm windows. We wanted good looking storms with flush appearance and color to match the trim. Hodges recommended Burch triple track windows. They are custom made in custom colors and they are expensive but worth it. We have been very happy with Hodges and their product recommendations on all three occasions!
