ABOSLUTELY SUPERB WORK. They had to travel a distance to my location, but were also on time and wasted no time in getting the job done. I am a very much an attention to detailed person, both Ivan and Carlos listened to my concerns, offered advise and ensured all the details were met to and above standards. The price was expected and I did not feel like I was being nickeled and dimed, as the project went on. I did purchase most of the materials for the bathroom, so my price was adjusted accordingly. They were also very responsive to my questions and provided excellent communication and feedback, which seems to be rare now a days. Even my neighbors admired their work. I plan on hiring them again.

Perfect. Polite, professional, and they did more high quality work than I ever imagined. The fact that they added the extra room, at their suggestion, and finished the entire jobs with great detail, is still hard for me to believe. I would (and will -- I have another painting project planned) hire them again. First rate, on time, honest, great price... I'm not normally this effusive, but this was really a great experience with a contractor I'd used, based on the Angie's list special, for the first time. Outstanding. They were here for 8 hours today. I'm writing this review the same evening.

The estimator arrived one day early, during dinner. I told him what I wanted done. He left. There was some miscommunication because he got the impression that I was going to do the work I described to him. I didn't pursue the work further. I got a quote from another firm and had the job done within a week.

I did not hire them. The bid seemed unreasonable and came without any justification.

I bought a prepaid coupon thru Angies List for $650 for one day's worth of painting by two painters. The end result was excellent and the price was very reasonable. I had the option of supplying the paint or letting the crew go buy it for me and have me reimburse the firm. I opted for the latter. BUT I had extreme difficulty communicating with the crew and they showed up Wednesday without having any idea what the job was, despite the fact that I had emailed Ivan (owner) with the details. They said they would have to come back Thursday because they didn't have ladders. They came back Thursday and started painting but we had a misunderstanding about the color of my porch, so they had to return Friday to finish the job at an additional cost to me based on the additional hours. I was blamed for the misunderstanding. The crew does good work but the homeowner must monitor progress at least every 30 minutes to ensure they are doing what the homeowner wants done.

Ivan was great to work with! He's honest, hard working, flexible and responsive. He supervised the job down to the smallest detail - this was important to us because it was a big job. His employees were very friendly, hard working and responsive. I was skeptical that they could get the entire job within the estimate and in the time frame specified; he came in slightly under the quote and finished on time. As he promised, he sent the painter and flooring specialist to do some touch up work. I liked the fact that I could count on him to follow through on his word. We were very pleased with the price, quality of the work, and timeliness of the project. I would definitely recommend Herndon Service to my friends and will call on Ivan when I have future jobs.

In thirty years as a home owner, I can say with confidence that this was the best interior painting work I've seen. The end product is outstanding. The crew of two came on time, worked all day except for a lunch break, and finished everything skillfully and on time. The owner helped with a competitive estimate of additional work (2nd day). We couldn't have asked for more. I recommend them without any qualification. We plan to hire them again in the near future.

Herndon Service did excellent work which was on time and on budget. Their prices were less than then others and the work was first rate. Ivan is responsive, honest in his estimates and the work was performed flawlessly. I wouldn't use anyone else since they can do it all.

With the help of Angie?s List Customer Service Department, I hired Herndon Service after another vendor failed to schedule my project after three months of back and forth with no progress. After reaching out to Ivan, he was able to schedule my bathroom remodel for the following week. The project was scheduled to begin on Monday after the D.C. blizzard, however due to the snow; they were not able to begin the project until Wednesday. His team arrived on time every day and stayed a little later each day to make up for the lost snow days. They even worked over the weekend to complete the project on its originally scheduled date. Herndon Service exceeded our expectations. For example, the plumbers had to make an unexpected hole in the ceiling to reach some additional plumbing for the bathroom. After they completed the patch of the hole, Ivan's crew painted the entire ceiling at no extra cost to ensure there would be no signs of a patch just in case the new paint didn?t totally match the old paint. They completed a beautiful patch and paint job, and there are no indications where the hole was located. They could have just repaired and painted their hole, but by painting the entire ceiling shows their desire for quality service. In another example, after an electrical outlet was installed and tested, the next day we noticed that it should be moved to another location. "Not a problem" we were told and his team moved the outlet to the new location. Ivan?s team also allowed to us to make slight modifications during the installation to increase the overall beauty of the finished remodel. These are just a couple of examples of the little things that make a huge difference between someone doing a job, and someone ensuring the job is completed to the requester?s satisfaction. The professionalism and craftsmanship of his tile installation team was exceptional. We ordered specialty (and very heavy) tile and tiled the entire bathroom from wall to floor. This was probably the toughest, and most time consuming part of the entire installation. His team was very careful to limit the waste. This is yet another example of his team paying close attention to details and performing an overall excellent job. They did a great job on the clean up after completing the job to include power washing entwalkway to ensure there were no remaining dust or debris left over from the job. In closing, we are very pleased with the overall outcome of our project. We were impressed with Ivan?s eagerness to ensure that we were happy with the quality of the work throughout the project. His entire team was very professional. We were also impressed by Ivan?s willingness to complete smaller related task without any additional costs. All of these factors are the reason we would recommend Herndon Service for a bathroom remodel. We were so impressed that we have immediately hired them to complete another bathroom in our home.

I recently bought a home, and this was my first experience using a contractor. Because there was only one bathroom in the house, we needed the remodeling job done quickly so we could move in. Ivan visited the site and gave a low estimate and flexible dates to start the work. There were several problems during the work ? most significantly, an inadequately skilled tile layer was sent by a subcontractor to install the tile without supervision. He laid the mosaic tile floor unevenly. The tile had to be pulled up and was ruined, and the contractor immediately agreed to pay to replace them. Given our time constraints, I had to change the special-ordered tile for a style available at Home Depot (taking a day off work to deal with the issue). The worker also improperly installed the shower surround tile (also special-ordered). He didn?t plan the layout around the window in the shower stall, he ran out of spacers and left tiles unevenly spaced, and he didn?t maintain a consistent pattern. The subcontractor came the next day to remedy the issues and did a fair job, but there was no way to completely fix the layout and crooked spacing without tearing out the job and starting fresh ? which didn?t make sense given our time constraints. The completed tile job immediately cracked around the wooden window frame due to moisture expansion, since membrane had not been applied for waterproofing. Since the original tile order had run out (despite a margin for breakage) it could only be repaired after a several week wait while additional materials were ordered and arrived. (The contractor also paid for the additional tile order). The finished job has not cracked after 6 months of use. However, the grout is mottled, tile spacing remains visibly uneven, and the window layout is awkward. I received several calls while work was in progress directly from subcontractors/employees to discuss the issues with the tile job, and at one point I received a call from a worker saying that he hadn't been paid yet. I referred them to the contractor. In addition to the tile issues, the toilet was not properly set, leading to leakage from the base (which my husband fixed), the tile floor creaks when I walk on it, and several things were installed slightly crooked. My husband installed the medicine cabinet himself, after a worker chipped the corners handling it after removing the protective bumpers. At the end of the job, the contractor added a charge for installation of a 'non-standard vanity' ? an Ikea model that the worker had found challenging to install (eventually cutting out the back of a drawer to get it to close). I didn't pay the additional charge, which he had not mentioned before. The contractor visited the site once, during the initial repair of the tile job. He was initially very responsive (immediately assuring me he'd pay for the redo of the tile floor), but became less responsive and began to hint that my expectations were unreasonable as I continued to report issues with the work. This job was a frustrating experience for all involved. Although it seems to be atypical based on the contractor's many good reviews, I wasn't satisfied with the quality control and management of the work and would not hire Herndon Service again.

This is the second time I've had Herndon Services perform work on my house. I continue to be very pleased with the cost and quality of the work. Ivan Torres is superb to work with as is Julio and the other members of his team. I am particularly happy to find a competent service provider that is willing to take on a variety of odd jobs that needed attention at my place. I would definitely recommend Herndon services.

The demolition and installation took place while I was out of town. Before I left, Luisinspected all agreed supplies I purchased: floor tile, wall tile, thin set, grout, sealer, medicine cabinet, lavatory, sink, vanity light, GFI switch/plug-outlet combo, reused newer toilet, glass towel rods/mounts, recessed soap dish, plumbing fixtures, shower rod, curtain, as well as paint. These items totaled about $2000, as I chose 3x6 inch gray mosaic marble subway tile for walls and 1 inch white/gray/beige hex mosaic marble for the floor. The work took place for the most-part while I was away at a family reunion in California. We had telephone calls and SMS text pics of the process during that 10 days. The entire job was complete in two weeks, which took a bit longer than expected, but allowed me to be home for the last couple of days to advise on finishing touches. The work was NOT EASY, I could see that from the demolition effort, which took longer due to the 1950s style construction (bomb shelter) of my bathroom. All the tile was set in concrete, the floor and the walls. Both needed significant effort to remove and clean up to allow for the laying of plywood to floor studs, followed by Hardyboard (concrete board) over new plywood floor and directly to the wall studs. This made the scheule slip a day or two. After the demo, the job went swimmingly and looks simply beautiful. I have to say the transformation was astounding. They are consumate professionals. HIRE THEM.

It was a pleasure to work with Ivan, the owner. He is responsive and was able to schedule a team quickly. Ivan and I worked out a price at the start of the job and the total job took a little more than 2.5 days. Although the job took longer than initially anticipated, Ivan honored the price upon which we agreed. Ivan's staff were friendly and hard workers. They bring all the tools and equipment needed (drop clothes, plastic sheeting, ladder, etc.). Ivan stops by to check on the progress and work quality. The team spent most of the first day fixing every crack, nail hole and gouge in the walls and ceiling. Although this added to the time spent, I was thrilled with having all these flaws fixed. The work they did was excellent both on painting and repairs. They painted behind the fridge and stove, removed the window treatments and the stairway handrail ? then put everything back perfectly afterwards. They were careful to move and cover my furniture in plastic. I?ve not seen paint on anything that shouldn?t have paint. I provided my own paint - 4 different wall paints, 2 different ceiling paints plus trim/door paint. I spent some time in the beginning being very clear about what I wanted and they got it all right the first time and without me having to repeat the instructions. I recommend them and will use them again in the future.

The service was okay. It ended up with 3 people because the painting job was larger than they originally thought. My major difficulty was that out of these 3 men on the crew, 2 spoke no English, and 1 spoke very basic English. I did a lot of the prep work, and I painted a lot of the house myself. At one point I had to call my carpenter who is bilingual, and he came and spoke to them, then later the owner or supervisor came to check everything was okay. By and large the work was okay, but the communication was a problem. I don't mind that they don't speak English, but there needs to be somebody with them who can communicate. It did leave an impression with me, so next time, when I look for a company to do a project at my home, my first question is if there will be someone who speaks English on site. That has been a deal breaker for me. The price was good. We had a problem initially when they didn't show up, and then I called and there was a problem. They sent out a third man because of the delay, so that they could finish the work that day.

This worked out very well. They did a nice clean job.

I can't recommend this company highly enough. I have called them to do random jobs 3 or 4 times and each time the work was done better than I expected at a lower price than I wanted. Very professional, clean and courteous. A+!

Ivan and his crew do very good work. Ivan came by to meet with me to scope out the work and then provided an estimate. Once I had the estimate and approved the work Ivan's crew was ready to go the next day. They showed up on time at 900AM and got to work. Worked two days on the deck and in the basement doing the repair, baseboards and painting. When that was done on the third day the carpet guys came in and knocked out the carpet install in one full workday. Highly recommend Herndon Service. I will use again.

Two painters showed up at 8 am in the morning on the scheduled day. I provided the paint. The painters introduced themselves and I went over what needed to be done. The one painter had decent English, the other painter spoke a just a little English, but it was enough to communicate what needed to be done. They got started right away and worked efficiently. I was expecting it would take them more than one day to paint the whole outside of our townhouse, but they were able to do it all in one day. This was an Angie's list deal for 2 painters for one day. I was very happy with the results and would use them again.
