They confirmed 2 times. Showed up on Saturday at 8AM, painted two bathrooms, walls & ceilings and were done by noon.

He didn't answer any emails or phone calls. When I finally heard back from him, he said he didn't service my location even though it said in the fine print that he should have. He told me to write back to living social for a refund, but they only offer credit! I can't even get my money back.

Ivan was responsive to my initial phone conversation and was able to accommodate the dates that I had planned for the work. He helped me plan how much paint I needed to purchase, and suggested I use his contractor's discount at Home Depot. A few days before the scheduled painting, I called to confirm, and although it was not a problem for me, we had to push the date ahead because he had booked another job. The day of, the two painters showed up close to the scheduled time. I felt that the quality of the painting was very good. Ivan called once and told me they would need additional hours to finish the job, and I agreed to the stated price. When I returned home before the end of the additional hours, they were going over the trim. There were communication difficulties with the workers as they did not speak English, and some misunderstandings about additional time. When I paid the agreed upon amount I was informed that I owed for additional time.After some discussion, Ivan agreed to our original amount. I would probably hire them again because of the quality of their work, but I would make clear expectations that I want agree to any additional time or charges. As well, my preference is to have a service provider or manager visit before a job to give me a better estimate of how much a job is going to cost.

This company is just great. I have used them twice now to paint my upstairs floor, all of which has vaulted ceilings and is a big pain to paint. These guys are very good and very affordable. I will use them again the next time I need anything painted on my top floor.

They were very quick and efficient. They did the job and left without any problems. The person that came requested a personal check to be written out in his name rather than to the company.

The leader was great but the other guy didn't seem to know what he was doing. He was washing his brush in the sink. You just can't do that. They did the job fairly well. If it wasn't for that 2nd guy I would've given them an A. They seemed to be in a hurry. It took a bit of time to get scheduled.

Reasonably priced, plus very responsive and flexible. Got the job done in a timely, professional manner. Would use them again.

The price was excellent and the man who runs it is very attentive. What I don't like about them is that no one speaks English, so if you don't have the principal around you can not communicate. There's only one man who spoke a little English. I did have one guy who made a mistake, a pretty big mistake. He put the wrong paint on the wall at one point, but as soon as the principal guy came out and saw it he had him redo it. Everything was great.

We hired Herndonservices.com to paint our bedroom off a Living Social deal. As with so many LS deals, if the price is too good to be true - there is a reason. Even though I had talked to the company 3X prior to the day of the appointment that they would arrive at 9 AM, the day of the painting I had to call THEM at 9:30 when I was told his painters had left for ANOTHER job and could make it over maybe by 11-11:30 AM. I reminded them that when I spoke to them a few days earlier, I informed that the job needed to be done by 4:00 as I had a doctor's appointment. He proceeded to call back 10 min later to inform that they could get to my house by 1 PM. I nearly lost it, no actually think i did lose it on the phone. I reminded him that this is the 2nd mix-up they had with me as they initially sent me painters on June 16th instead of (July 16th which was contrary to the information I had received previously that they would not honor LS deals until after July 1st, duh).

I asked for one day special for painting bedroom, living room, dining room and kitchen. 2 men came for 4 hour. Work was slow and incomplete. I agreed to apy pay addional for extra hours to complete the job. They did not complete the kitchen or dining room.1. The door in the dining room would be extra2. kitchen cabinets were not included.This info was not provided until they asked for more money.The painters left paint droppings in the rooms and told my wife we were expected to clean these up.We had to clean up after they left, papers, more droppings, clogged up electrical sockets.This was the worse job I ever had done. If you use them make sure you detail exactly what has to be done or they will get as much money off of you as they can.

They remove all of the old flooring and also extended our stairs and did a wonderful job. Overall we would recommend this company. It was difficult to get someone to come out to measure the floor and give us options but once they were hear it all worked out perfectly.

We connected with the owner via email as we purchased an Angies List coupon for discounted service. We noted to him that we wanted to use the coupon for the repair of the interior wall and ceiling cracks but that we had some additional work that we wanted them to estimate and hopefully complete on the same day. Ivan was very prompt, professional and responsive in arranging for this to be scheduled. Miguel came out for the estimate and we felt very good about his knowledge and advice on how to best approach the job. He provided us a very fair estimate for the rest of the work and we agreed to proceed. They sent out three guys who came from Herndon to Alexandria and arrived promptly at 9 am. They might have been 10 minutes late but they were extremely apologetic and quite frankly it was a very small and understandable delay at that time of morning! They assessed the job and split up the work accordingly with two guys starting on the back porch and the third focusing on the wall repairs. I went about my business and left them to the work. There was some confusion on the full scale of the work they were scheduled to complete and since I had not managed the estimate process I was not sure either so we kind of winged it. There was a little bit of a language challenge in trying to figure this out but all ended up good. In painting the front porch area, they were both thorough and professional. It would have been easy to do a sloppy job and cake on the paint on this very old style portico and frame, but they did an excellent job and we were very pleased with the result.

The guys came, listened to the instructions and went with it. Looks great. Can't complain.

I purchased the Big Deal for an exterior painter for a day. I emailed the point of contact with the the details of what I wanted done--painting of 8 sets of shutters on a 3 story town home and the front door if there is enough time. We emailed back and forth and scheduled an appointment for 8 am on 6/15/12. The painter arrived on time however, stated that he had not been told what work would be done and he didn't have an extension ladder. He requested I call the manager, Ivan. I called Ivan and explained the circumstances. Ivan then called the painter, then called me back. Ivan stated that it's not safe to have just one painter there if doing exterior painting and stated that the painters would be back on Sunday at 9 am to do the painting. I sent an email to Ivan that day to confirm the Sunday appointment; no response was provided. The painters arrived at 8:20 on Sunday. They painted the shutters and front door. The work looks good. I was disappointed to find cigarette butts on my front yard and garden afterwards (it's a pet peeve of mine). I had used Herndon Service once in the past and had a slightly better experience, however, will probably not use them again.

Ivan and his crew did an outstanding job painting our house. They were thorough and professional and if I ever needed to have a house painted again, I would definitely use Herndon Service.

Ivan is such a wonderful guy. He knows what to do, gives an accredible estimate, and follows through on it. They were very timely, the estimate was very reasonable. The employees are exceptionally qualified and skilled in their field. Oscar and Alberto did a wonderful job. I called them back yesterday about replacing a ceiling fan on my porch. He came to my home within an hour and a half to do the work. He was very timely and reasonable. They do such good work and the quality of the work is exceptional.

They didn't take many breaks and they were done pretty quickly.

The first round of painting was somewhat frustrating because, although the actual work done was flawless, the painters left a mess and literally walked away after their negotiated deal hours had been reached. Work was left unfinished and we asked for the option to have it finished, with extra payment. After an exchange of emails and phone calls the painters did return a couple of weeks later and did a truly admirable job. This time they were careful to cover the areas in which they worked with drop cloths. Their workmanship is very, very professional. All in all a great ending to something that had some start-up issues. Highly recommended for their quality of work.

The painters arrived on time, worked diligently, and completed the paint job as promised. An all around excellent job.

They were prompt and neat. However they missed some spots and didn't paint some areas I asked them to.

The job never started because he could not provide proof of insurance and didn't understand what I needed. He kept sending me what he said was proof of insurance but I think he knew in reality he didn't have any insurance and was too ashamed to admit it. He kept telling me what he was sending was insurance but I am an insurance agent that insures many construction companies in the DC metro area and I can tell you for sure, it was not insurance. It was an unsigned finance agreement and an insurance proposal. Nothing more. When I told him he couldn't start the job without insurance he told me I was a "mean and hostile person" and would rather refund my money then do the work. The money was refunded in a timely manner. No further issues.

It went very well until the painters were told by their boss to stop because the 8 hour cap in time had been reached. Work was left unfinished without giving us a chance to discuss completion at a different rate. Not great.

I purchased an Angie's big deal for two painters for eight hours. The guys did most of the work in six hours, so they came back and did my bathroom. Two guys worked an additional four hours, so I paid the overage. They also took down a large mirror in the bathroom and replaced it with another mirror. They did an excellent job and I'm very happy with their work. I think they travel from Sterling, so the commute is bad and they were a late, but it wasn't a big deal to me, but that is why I gave them a B in punctuality.

Herndon Service was one of four painting contractors contacted. Ivan Torrez responded and came promptly to survey the work and provide an estimate. Bids ranged from $6,000 to $2,400. Herndon Service was the low bidder. Their estimate consisted of a labor component and a paint component. Herndon Service supplied the paint, which in the end, turned out to cost about a third the price originally quoted. As a result, the cost of the job was $350 less than estimated. Herndon Service was able to start work in just a few days after the estimate, whereas one other contractor cited a six-week wait. The painting crew showed up as scheduled, worked efficiently and carefully, and completed the whole job in three days. They even installed smoke detectors, which we supplied, after the painting was completed. A few minor items needed attention after the main job was completed, and the crew supervisor came back two days later to take care of these last minute details. The only issue was that Ivan could be difficult to reach, made an appointment to review the unfinished details, then didn't show up. He did send the crew supervisor who arrived approximately five hours after the initial appointment time. But once the supervisor arrived, he completed the detail work cheerfully and efficiently. Overall, Herndon Service performed as promised and did high-quality work at a most economical price. If communications between the customer and the home office were improved, this would have been a perfect experience.
