I purchased a coupon and called about scheduling the work. Ivan, who I think is the owner, eventually answered and informed me that they only reply to work requests submitted through their website. So I sent a scheduling request form via their website ... four different times across several weeks. They have a pattern of not returning messages. I began calling again, and when Ivan finally picked up one time, he apologized but gave me a story about problems with the website, and sorry I can't schedule over the phone, please try again online. I had decided he was a total flake, but what could I do? I sought a refund through Living Social, and they told me that I have to pursue remediation with the merchant. After two more online request forms weren't acknowledged either, I started calling him and leaving messages again. Only then did he claim they did not have to fulfill the coupon because the fine print stated they did not service Alexandria. I pointed out the small print also said Fairfax County WAS in their service area, and my home was actually not in the City of Alexandria - it is in Fairfax County. After two very frustrating conversations with him, he says he will get back to me with a date but I never hear from him for weeks. Then, on a Sunday evening at around 9:30 pm, he leaves me a voicemail saying he's had a cancellation and they can paint my room the next morning. I didn't even get the message until the next morning, so I called to say I wasn't given enough time to prepare. We go around and around about the situation, and he informs me he tried to do the work but I am refusing it. I finally gave up, and decided that it wasn't worth it to pursue the matter further.

The owner (?), Ivan, came out for the estimate and the price was extremely reasonable so I was excited. The final quality of the work was fine. There were just two key issues I encountered that seem worth sharing here: 1) The owner swore the workers never paint over outlets or switches and yet they did in one of my rooms and over a vent in the ceiling. When I told him what happened, he again promised they never did that. He agreed to come out to fix it but the workers then only partially fixed it. I told him I didn?t have time for yet another appointment so we just went with it as is. 2) There was a bit of a language issue when communicating but initially it wasn?t an issue. However, it became more of one during the work itself. When trying to schedule the work I received several messages from the owner that were difficult to understand. He would state that he was coming the next day or that he was waiting on me but then when I would call him back, he would say he is ready to schedule but unavailable until some other day. It was definitely frustrating. And then when I had to have the workers come back to fix part of the job, I made it clear that I could not stay while they were there. I would let them in the house but then had to head to work. The workers told me they were told I was staying so I had to call the owner who seemed to forget or misunderstand all of that. He was saying I had to stay and pay them when they were done. I told him [again] I could not so we then made alternate arrangements. So it was a frustrating experience but for what I paid and for the final quality, I can?t really say I made the wrong decision using Herndon.

In one word, Outstanding. I called Ivan at 10:00 on a Thursday morning and he arrived at 11:00 to provide an estimate. Work began the following Monday. The guys did more than I expected, and even fixed a plumbing issue in the laundry room and replaced a faulty main water valve at no charge. After the work was done, I called Ivan about a few tweaks for which his crew returned and addressed. My complements to Luis who is truly a craftsman and deserves special mention. I will definitely use them again and highly recommend them.

I had purchased the Big Deal Offer and the service went off fine. I have used them a couple of times. They were just average. I would recommend them to others.

I went fine. The were very professional and punctual.

Painters arrived on-time and ready to go. They listened carefully and asked questions to make sure we were all on the same page. They painted two rooms and the foyer and did a fantastic job. Very pleased and highly recommended.

Everything went well. They were very prompt, neat, and courteous. They worked well with me.

Called Ivan on a Thursday and set up an appointment for the next day. Ivan showed up on time and was very professional. We discussed the whole project and since we just bought the house and had 10 days before we moved in, we wanted all the painting and hardwood work done in a weeks time. Ivan promised that everything will be done within a week and stuck to the timeline till the end of the project. He sent an estimate the same day and we scheduled everything for next week. All the workers were professional and clean and knew their work and were proactive in letting me know when more paint was needed. The hardwood person even gave god suggestions to put in unfinished wood and refinish the whole lower area instead of pulling up the exisiting hardwod and putting in new hardwood. After everything was done Ivan did a walkthrough and found a few things which were not to his satisfaction and called the painters and asked them to fix some areas which were not painted well. He replied all my calls and was always on top of things. He also let me know if the workmen were to arrive late and that helped me a lot since we were not living in the house at that time. Overall a good experience.

I took advantage of the Angie's Deal offered (two painters, 8 hours work) and booked an additional day to complete the exterior painting of my home ($ 750). I supplied paint and materials. They did good work, were on time, very agreeable and the work is first rate. They did an excellent job of cleaning up and there was very little mess. I would use them again without hesitation and recommend their business.

I started talking to Ivan and made an appointment but Oscar showed up and provided the estimate. Very punctual and responsive. The pricing was competitive. Oscar and his working crew were dedicated and all the time concentrating on their work. They completed the work on time and did a great job. The highlight of my house is that they knocked the wall and did hardwood in the living room and extended couple of steps which took them significant time and the workman ship was great. They did Laminated floor in couple of bedrooms. Tiles in 2nd bathroom. Back Splash in the kitchen and Wood Railing in the living room. As they did a great job, I am planning to do the Carpet in the Master bathroom and the stairs with them again. Overall I am pleased with their excellent work.

The start was rocky. Missed appointments, miscommunication in spanish and English, but then afterwards the finished result was excellent! I will use them again but would advise that you clearly communicate with the boss and repeat instructions to the installers to get exactly what you want

I called Ivan on a Sunday and he met with me on time the next day. He answered all my questions and gave me an estimate that matched the final cost and addressed all my concerns, and the work was scheduled and done quickly. I hope to have Ivan and his team back in the future for other work. Highly recommended.

This company was simply GREAT!!! The floor installation team was professional, hardworking and with great attention to details. They said it was going to be a two day job but they worked quickly, and agreed to finish the job in one day when I requested them so I will avoid missing work the next day (they work until early evening and I paid them as it was a two day work anyway!). I am writing this review a few months after the installation as I wanted to be sure everything was done properly and the floors are just looking great with no issues whatsoever. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THEM TO A FRIEND, ALREADY DID IN FACT!!!

I sent Ivan the owner of the company an email to ask if I could get a quote for the labor on the floor. He sent Oscar to measure and let me know what materials I would need. He gave me the measurements for the supplies and the cost for the job. He also gave me the date and time and offered to pick up the materials. I also asked Ivan for a quote to put a fan in the master bedroom. He sent me a quote and time frame for the install. The men came on Saturday at 8:00 and went to work on our 200ft loft. They we're done by 2:00 and left the room completely clean and the floor looks beautiful. Daniel and Daniel did a great Job! I couldn't be more pleased with Herndon Services. Oscar put the moulding in our livingroom from a prior job they had done. My husband had said he would put in the moulding and didn't have time. Thank you Oscar and of course Ivan for running a wonderful company.

They did exterior painting. I felt they could have done a better job on the prep work.

They did a great job, nearly perfect. It took all day to do the areas mentioned, and after reading other reviews, I expected more areas I think, but the stairway was not easy, and because it's an old house, they had to do more prep work and coats I think. So I will definitely use them again, because the areas they painted were done extremely well. They were professional, efficient and cleaned up after themselves. First rate, and easy to deal with!

The painters were only here for 2 hours, and the big deal was supposed to be a painter for a DAY. They did a good job, but I thought they were going to be here for a few more hours. I definitely had more work for them to do.

Ivan is a really friendly and helpful contractor. Issue is: he is very busy and never actually came to the site while work was progressing. So all of our issues were with lack of communication. Our tile was laid crooked, but Ivan was really great and had the guys start over, with no cost to us. The issue was- it shouldn't have happened in the first place if someone was overseeing it. The painters were good- but definitely got sloppy in areas. We have paint on some clothing in the closets, as well as on carpet. Overall, the job came together in about 4 weeks (scheduled for 1.5 but the tile set it back a while). We were happy with the final result- but definitely recommend future clients to be VERY involved in the process.

I was very pleased with their responsiveness -- I had originally contacted several painters to get estimates, and Ivan was extraordinarily responsive. In terms of scheduling, they were able to shift the start date when circumstances forced us to begin a day earlier than we originally planned. They then finished the job in half the time estimated -- and it all looked very good upon my inspection. Overall, I was very pleased with the entire experience -- I feel we got a good price for their service, compared to other bids, and in the end they did more than we had asked for (which was welcome!). I would definitely use them again.

Ivan was wonderful. He was prompt, courteous and very responsive. The crew was professional, and did an excellent job in the time frame that was promised. We would recommend them to anyone without hesitation, and will definitely be using them again.

It was really hard to schedule, I think they had an overwhelming number or requests but the work was really good and we hired them for another project.

They were punctual and worked hard all day. Overall they did a great job. They missed one spot on my kitchen ceiling but otherwise did very well. I would definitely use them again.

I bought the Angie's List deal for 2 painters for a day. The painters arrived on time, did a nice job, cleaned up after themselves. I basically had a list of projects in order of priority, long enough that I didn't expect them to complete them all. They made such good progress, however, I asked if they would return the next day to finish up. They gave me a quote, a very reasonable one, and returned the next day. When I pointed out some trim work that could have been better, they fixed it right away no questions.

I had to delay work but once I called him to start I was happy that he was available. I paid for all the paint they they purchased (over half leftover). He over estimated the amount of material needed, which of course cannot be returned. I know nothing about painting but I think they added water and I don't know if that's a good thing or not. The team of workers didn't seem to have all the supplies (ie: no ladders) The supervisor was always scavanging to find supplies (and other things) in my garage, which I was not too happy. Some missing but I was too busy with other things that I forgot and never raised the issue with the owner. The worker that was supposed to replace the light fixture, had no clue what he was doing and couldn't read the instructions due to langauge barrier. I had to get them all redone by professionals. The bath fixture they ended up cutting it for no reason and it was never finished, had to have it done by professionals. By his advice, I had purchased 2 different kinds of paint: 1 for bathrooms and 1 for the rest of the house. They ended up using the wrong one for the bathroom but he was very kind and sent me someone to do the right job. The last worker was much better then the previous team of workers. He did a much better job and was much better in keeping the rest of the room clean. At the end not all things were done so we agreed on a new price but when it came time to pay he said there was a fee by using a credit card. Again he was very accomadating and we came to a comprimise. I would have prefered to know all in advance. Overall,the owner was always very nice and accomadating so I may use them again, I'll just have to keep a very close eye at what they do and of course: strictly painting.
