Pete and Carlos arrived on time and took care to use drop cloths to prevent any carpet damage. They installed the tile perfectly (I'm very picky) and were beyond pleasant to work with. They had to remove the toilets and a pedestal sink to do the tile work and reinstalled new toilets and even replaced the faucet in the sink at no extra charge. Overall this was a GREAT experience from start to finish. The only "surprise" was that they do not take credit cards. Cash/check only. The owner told me this is posted on their Angie's List profile but admittedly I did not pay attention. Just surprised I had to write a $3K check. With that said, I would use them for future jobs because Pete and Carlos were that good.

I was very pleased with Collins Tile and Stone's work on my master bathroom. From the start, Buck Collins did not pressure me to complete work that I didn't want done. Buck provided me excellent recommendations to select tiles and bathroom hardware. There were a couple very minor difficulties in communication before the start of the work. However, once the work started, everyone involved was highly professional and worked to maintain a clean work site. I never felt like I had to monitor what was being done or worry about the quality of the work because everyone seemed competent and sincere in their effort. The work was completed on time and in accordance with the estimated cost. Collins Tile and Stone provided me an excellent experience for my first time working with a contractor. I can not emphasize how pleased I was with the work and can only hope that future experiences working with contractors are as good.
Description of Work: General: They replaced an existing bathtub with a bathtub-sized walk-in shower and tiled the bathroom floor.Specific: They removed the bathtub and existing rough plumbing (shower head and tub faucet). They installed new rough plumbing, installed Durock around the shower, built a shower curb, and installed an offset shower pan. They installed Ditra on all horizontal surfaces and applied a liquid waterproofing membrane on vertical surfaces. They installed tile on the shower walls, shower floor, and bathroom floor, including bullnose tile at the base of the bathroom walls. They grouted all the tile. Finally, they installed a sliding shower door, caulked around the shower door, and caulked around the glass tile wall to allow for movement.

We recently used Collins Tile and Stone to do a complete remodel and renovation of our very large and very unruly master bathroom. Our original master bathroom was rather dated and we undertook a complete gut renovation from start to finish. I was very apprehensive about such a large scale project for a multitude of reasons and actually kept pushing off beginning the project from the start. We have a young daughter, were nervous about the invasiveness, the noise, and the overall timetable. The team at Collins went out of their way to accommodate us and to make the project as seamless as possible. Collins does not give an estimate based upon the initial meeting- the project model actually requires the homeowners to do the work and select the tile, the layout, the fixtures, the sinks, toilet, bathtub, etc. I will admit that I was thrown off by the level of work that was required in the front end and often wanted to go with the company that was easiest. My husband however, kept pushing and we slowly worked our way through the design and selection process. We finished with a customized bathroom on paper and Collins was able to bring the paper model to life. A few notable points include: 1) Steve (Project Manager) is truly exceptional and is a consummate professional. I have never seen someone work so meticulously, pay such attention to detail, and work with so much energy and commitment. Steve's presence always put us at ease and we knew that the work completed that day would be exceptional and flawless. Steve is also very personable and we enjoyed chatting with him on a daily basis. 2) Tiling Team (Abraham, Adrian, Herman)- Firstly, this team is related- Abraham is Adrian's father and Herman is a cousin of the family. Abraham serves as the team lead and really guides the artistry and foundation of the tile work. Abraham demands professionalism and overall excellence from his family and both Adrian and Herman were sure to comply. The tiling was completed within a week and a half- far ahead of schedule and done beautifully. This team are true artists when it comes to tile- Abraham's eye is exceptional and the tile work in our bathroom surpasses anything that I could have ever imagined. 3) Buck Collins- Buck takes so much pride in his work and will drop in on the project to ensure that expectations are being exceeded. He is responsive, courteous, and a true perfectionist. He is fundamentally proud of the business that he has built (as he should be) and will go beyond the call of duty to make sure that the customer is satisfied. I was profoundly impressed with the team as a whole and will use them in the future without hesitation. 4) Attention paid to cleanliness and organization- We have three staircases leading up to the master bathroom. The team covered each set of stairs in plastic and were mindful of where materials were housed, dust, and their personal cleanliness. They are well aware that a huge renovation is difficult for a homeowner and really honored the pride that we take in our home and worked with us to keep things clean and running smoothly. 5) Responsiveness to feedback- My husband and I actually found a few places were tile was unlevel. Within 24 hours, the tile team was back and popped out tile, did the grout over, and made sure there were no detectable defects. Buck and Steve took ownership of the few mistakes that happened and corrected them faster than I could write Buck a follow up email. 6) Timeliness- Collins stuck to the schedule that Buck outlined prior to project onset. In fact, they beat the schedule- we had allocated 4 weeks and the team was done in 3 weeks and 1 day. 7) Cost- Buck's pricing model is fair and equitable. There are NO hidden costs- Because the homeowner has complete authority over selection, the end price is not shocking. Buck will price according to materials, labor, and project magnitude. It is straightforward and completely reasonable. In summary, Collins blew me away. I am a tough sell and my husband has a keen attention to detail- I was impressed by this company in every way and will recommend them without hesitation. Our bathroom is so beautiful that I do not feel worthy of such an impressive space. In fact, the bathroom blows away the rest of our home- Collins is a stellar company that is more than deserving of their excellent Angie's List rating.
Description of Work: Complete renovation of master bathroom- tile work, cabinet installation, plumbing, accessories installation, electrical, and shower design.

We at long last got around to doing this last part of our kitchen overhaul. We had already picked out the tile. While Buck wasn't crazy about the tile from this company for many purposes, he judged that the ones we had already purchased would be fine for our backsplash. He did have us return the cement and grout though. It seems quite apparent that Buck knows his tiling materials, so we didn't argue at all. Once we were given a time for install, the installation crew were timely and met our high expectations. The attention to detail was immediately evident. The job was done- perfectly so far as we can tell.

Collins Tile and Stone did an outstanding job on our master bathroom remodel and we would highly recommend them for anyone considering a project that involves installing tile or stone. The tile design was beautiful and the workmanship was superb. They completed the work in the estimated time and within budget. They were thoroughly professional and a pleasure to work with. Buck Collins was very attentive and called and came by everyday to ensure everything was progressing to our satisfaction. Steve, the project manager, is a multi-talented, top notch craftsman. We were very pleased from start to finish.
Description of Work: Master bath remodel. Our remodel included removal of the old jetted tub, shower and floor. The existing vanity and toilet had to be removed and reinstalled including the marble top. A new shower, tub and heated floor was installed.

It started a weeks ago with me getting bids to this this work. I typically call three companies to assess their customer service, general attitude, and my comfortableness with them. Buck's company was the last one I called and I called them due to the ratings I saw on Angie's list. He arrived prior to the time he stated - which was good. Immediately upon entering my home he put on his shoe-covers, said hello, and moved on to price the job. His bid was just a little more expensive than the others, but his was the right company to do this job for me. During the inspection, I immediately noticed his attention to detail, professionalism, and interest. Again, it took me 3 minutes to decide he was going to do the work for me prior to him providing the final bid. He said if I awarded him the job, he "guaranteed" he would complete the work within three weeks. Within a week, his team was in my home doing the tile work. It should be noted, his tile team was also on time; they were professional, friendly, and more importantly - competent - their attention to detail is inimitable! I've seen that level of detail orientation before and they were first-class. Abraham was the lead and you will never get anyone better. Hats off to you and your team Abraham!! Buck went out of his way to meet my needs and I appreciate it! I am happy, but that is not so important - my wife is extremely happy with the work done by Buck's company. I would use them again for sure!!

Collins tile did a great job and I would definitely use them again. Buck took my call immediately and quickly understood and appreciated my special situation -- that I was coming to down for only 5 days and needed to get the work started and finished while I was there. It was important to me that they be punctual, fully prepared, and committed to finishing on tie. Buck researched the tile I'd selected so he'd know in advance if there would be any problems, and how the tile manufacturer recommended it be installed. He asked me to choose grout color way in advance so he could order it, have it on site, and plan on quick-drying thin-set so he could lay the tile and grout in one day given our tight time frame. He asked for and carefully reviewed photos of the job site, since I was across the country and couldn't show him the job. After reviewing the photos, he suggested a special type of trim piece that he thought might improve the look and he sent me info on it and color choices, so he could have them on hand in advance. He was very accommodating with respect to my special quirky request to embed magnetic knife holding strips within the field of tile -- saying he'd do everything he could to make it work. The foreman, Steve, showed up right on time on the day we'd scheduled, instantly understood the scope of the work and got things started. After he was sure things were going smoothly, his helper, Ben took over and did a great job. I was particularly impressed with their level of perfectionism. Ben laid a tile that required a difficult cut around a cabinet. He cut and put up the tile and it was quite acceptable but Ben judged he could make the cut a little closer -- so took it upon himself to do it over. He was equally meticulous about some of the little details I needed in the job -- such as butting the tiles together without grout lines, pre-calculating the depth the magnetic knife holding bars would have to protrude from the tile surface in order to hold the knives so that the handles would lay flat against the tile, and laying out the tiles to give the most symmetric look in an asymmetric kitchen. When Buck first quoted me $1,000 for what seemed like a relatively small job, I rationalized that he had outstanding reviews, promised to do the work on time, and that it probably wasn't worth his while coming out, setting up and cleaning up the tile saw, etc. for any less. In fact, Steve and Ben's attention to detail caused the job to take all day -- and I ended up really feeling I got every bit of what I paid for. It came out really beautifully. The other contractors I had working in the condo while the tile was being laid went out of their way to comment on how great it looked. Here's what I'd say is the greatest compliment I can give -- during the course of small talk with Steve and Ben during the day, I commented that Buck seemed to get great reviews and obviously kept very busy -- and since I hadn't met him in person I asked what he was like. Both said he was a great boss and ran a great company. When employees say that -- you know someone is doing something right!! I'd use Collins Tile again without hesitation and highly recommend them.

Buck Collins came to my home for an estimate in mid 2011 after my old wood parquet floor suffered water damage. I wasn't ready to move forward with the project at that point, but Buck gave me an estimate and kept in touch. Buck checked back with me in December, and we scheduled the work for mid January. Buck and his crew showed up on time the first morning. We settled a few remaining details (grout color and that sort of thing), then Steve and his crew took over. I didn't have to worry about anything after that. I checked on the progress every night, just to see the transformation for myself, not because I felt I needed to make sure things were going well. Buck kept me informed of what was going on throughout the project. I have really been enjoying my new floor and how nice and toasty it can be (even if we only had a few days where it was cold enough to really use the under floor heat).
Description of Work: Buck Collins, Steve and the whole crew, removed an old wood parquet floor in my main room, two layers of old floor tile in my bathroom, scraped up the black cutback adhesive that was under the wood, skim coated the remaining cutback with a special bonding layer, leveled the entire area, installed electric heating mats throughout, and capped it all off with a beautiful installation of wood-look tile. The total newly heated and tiled area is about 300 sf.

Collins Tile and Stone completed renovation of the two bathrooms in our home on February 22, 2012. This was a complete do over of 1970?s era bathrooms. It involved the complete demolition and removal in two bathrooms of the tile and mud to the studs involving a tub and shower in one and a walk-in shower in the other, removal of floor tile to the sub floor in both, removal of a cast iron tub, and including toilets, vanities and all fixtures. After everything was removed to the studs and sub floor and the bathroom is an empty shell one develops a feeling of ? I sure hope these bathrooms can be made whole again. But let me assure the reader of these comments, if Collins Tile and Stone is on the job you will delight in the end product. They did a masterful job of renovation of our bathrooms and we could not be more pleased. The quality of the work performed by Buck Collin?s crew was superb. It is obvious that Buck Collins takes great pride in the performance of his employees and he must take great care in his choice of hires for everyone of his employees were respectful, pleasant, and truly competent in the skills they brought to each task. This is not a team prone to take short cuts for each one took pride in doing a job ?well done?. When the Collins Team completed the bathrooms I liken the feeling as better than the purchase of a brand new car on leaving the showroom. So what led us to choose Collins Tile and Stone? First, we reviewed the comments and grades of Collins Tile and Stone on Angie?s list along with other contractors as a point of reference and contacted several. Second, we found they all were willing to provide free estimates to a point. I say to a point because in short order comes the pressure ? when are ready to sign? Even when you are still trying to decide on tile selections, etc. But Buck Collins never tried to press us for a quick answer. Third, frankly it came down to his helpful recommendations, his personal approach and demeanor, and a good old fashioned gut feeling that this man (Buck Collins) was true to his word and was not going to be looking to hit you with add-on costs for incidental changes as work progressed, and undoubtedly one finds small changes that were not thought of until work is in progress. And of course we found his price fair for the effort involved. I started researching information for several months before ever seriously considering contacting a contractor to renovate our bathrooms because I wanted to become smarter about tile selections of tile, tubs, vanities and plumbing fixtures. In looking back was I ever naïve! Fortunately, with Buck Collins recommendations we started all over with the selection of tile and installation patterns, the grouts to use, and he suggested a different tub to save installation cost. He also explained the different materials he would use to set and install the tile on the walls and floor and why they make a difference in delivering a high quality product. Being retired I watched each day as his crews worked and found that they also offered recommendations that in the end were true enhancements but still remained within the scope of the effort. Therefore, as a completely satisfied customer of Collins Tile and Stone I recommend that anyone considering a serious overhaul of your bathroom(s) start by inviting Buck Collins into your world with your thoughts of what you want to accomplish. I truly believe you will find him to be a man of high integrity who will in no way mislead a customer and who will deliver a product that both you as the customer and he as the contractor can be very pleased with and proud of.

I cannot recommend Collins Tile and Stone highly enough. We were hoping to have a nice looking tile floor installed in our kitchen and mudroom. What we got far exceeded our expectations. Not only are the employees at Collins Tile highly skilled, but they also care about doing the best job possible. Our floor had a design that was a little more challenging. The Collins Tile crew took the time required to cut the tiles properly and get the design right. We brought in 3 companies to give us estimates for installing a new kitchen floor and for a remodel of our guest bathroom. All the companies we interviewed had ?A? ratings on Angie?s List. Buck was the last person we spoke with. He went into great detail about how the work would be performed by his company and the materials he would be using. He took the time to answer all of our questions and to give us very helpful advice. We knew right away after talking to Buck that we would be hiring Collins Tile to do the work. In the 15 years we have lived in our current home, my husband has handled almost all of the repair and remodeling work himself. We had 2 very bad experiences early on when we added a bathroom in the basement and updated an upstairs bath. Based on these experiences, my husband has always been very reluctant to bring in outside help. After our meeting with Buck, he had no reservations about hiring Collins Tile. Installation of our kitchen floor went smoothly from beginning to end. The crew showed up on time each day (or let us know in advance if there would be a delay.) The workers were professional and personable. We had different crews come in each day, but the quality of the work never changed. The workers always made sure they cleaned up before they left. After the job was completed we decided we would like to have the two custom thresholds they had installed replaced with two of a slightly different design. Buck and Steve could not have been more responsive. Steve had a new design for us within a few days and, once he made sure we were happy with the design, the thresholds were installed right away. We are totally happy with our floor and the work performed by Collins Tile!

Buck Collins, the owner of the firm, came to our home to give the estimate. He clearly took great pride in the quality of his firm's work, and explained in detail how he would do the job. I learned much more from talking to him than I did from talking to the representatives of other firms that bid on the job, particularly those representatives who were essentially no more than salesmen. Even if I had eventually contracted with another firm, I would have been very happy to have had an opportunity to learn from Buck. Although Globe Bath and Kitchen Remodeling submitted the low bid, I chose Collins Tile and Stone, which submitted the next lowest bid. Collins was proposing to do extremely high quality work without employing any shortcuts. For example, only thin set mortar (rather than mastic) was used to set the tile; and the base of the shower stall was constructed with a Schluter-Kerdi Shower Kit. In sharp contrast, getting information from Sirage Adem, the owner of Globe Bath and Remodeling was like pulling teeth. He barely spoke to me when he came to give the estimate. When I tried to get more information by scheduling an appointment with him at his office, he later canceled the agreed-upon appointment, angrily saying "I don't have time for this." The replacement of the shower stall took four days. The crew was extremely pleasant and courteous. We particularly appreciated the fact that, at the end of each day, they cleaned up the area completely, so that we never felt as if we were living in the middle of a construction site. Our new shower stall is everything we had hoped it would be. We have had no problems with it.
Description of Work: Replacement of entire shower stall, including replacement of gypsum wallboard with cement board and replacement of all plumbing fixtures and tile. (Except for the existing shower door, which was reinstalled.)

We had been planning to remodel our master bath for several years but were somewhat apprehensive, especially after watching shows on HGTV such as Holmes on Homes where they highlight shoddy work by contractors. After doing a lot of research, we finally decided to move forward. We obtained bids from a couple of companies we found on Angie's List, but we still weren't completely comfortable that we would get what we wanted as neither company rep seemed very familiar with the waterproofing system that we wanted to use. We discovered Buck Collins after reading an article titled "The Waterproof Bath" in Holmes magazine. In the article it stated that if you want the job done right a good indication is to look for a professional who is a member of the National Tile Contractor?s Association. Checking their website we found that not only is Buck a member, but he is one of only 18 five star contractors nationwide! From the very first time Buck came out to our home to discuss the job we were impressed with his knowledge and enthusiasm. He listened carefully to what we wanted and made us feel very confident that his company was the right one for our project. We were also impressed with his method for determining the job estimate. He asked that we finalize our tile selection and design and choose bath fixtures before he wrote up his proposal. This approach made better sense to us from a pricing accuracy perspective than being given a seemingly random allowance for each category of materials. The Collins Tile crew was outstanding from day one. Steve, Charlie, Peter and Carlo could not have been more dedicated to making sure that we were not only kept abreast with what they were doing, but that we were happy with their work each and every step of the way. They were polite, considerate and they cleaned up at the end of each day. While all Buck's staff were great, we were especially impressed with the project manager, Steve. Throughout the job, his calm, "can do" demeanor helped get us through a couple of snags (none of which were due to Collins Tile) with minimal angst on our part. For instance, the custom vanity we had purchased from another company was not delivered as ordered and had to be remade. Steve stepped in and worked with the vendor to redesign the vanity thus ensuring that it was rebuilt correctly. It was absolutely a case of going above and beyond on Steve's part. He continually stepped up when unexpected issues popped up as they always seem to do, coming up with excellent solutions to the problem. For his part, Buck also went the extra mile. When the floor tiles came in not looking like what we ordered and threatened to seriously delay the job, Buck went out of his way to find replacement stone - including driving to multiple tile stores and bringing samples to our home. He also contacted tile stores in the area to see if they could find more of the original stone, but unfortunately that didn't work out. When we found a replacement he expedited shipping and and delivery. He kept in touch with us almost daily throughout the entire project. We knew what was going on every step of the way - the communication was outstanding. His crew showed up when he told us they would throughout the entire job. Despite a few bumps in the road we are thrilled with how our bathroom turned out. Working with Buck and his crew was a positive experience and I would enthusiastically recommend Collins Tile and Stone to anyone needing the kind of work they do. We have other jobs in mind for our house and we wouldn't dream of calling anyone but Buck to do them.

It's hard to express how pleased my wife and I are with the work Collins Tile performed. We scheduled an appointment for an estimate to install subway tile, a vanity, toilet, and some accessories in our powder room. We always get estimates from three different companies so we can get a feel for the price and any possible issues that may arise. Collins Tile was the last scheduled estimate of the three. Buck arrived early and we discussed the work we wanted done and showed him the products we already purchased. He found an issue that the other two companies overlooked. When our house was built the flooring wasn't spaced properly from the wall and we had a gap that exceeded an inch and a half. He made some calls to his tile suppliers to see if there was a product that could cover the gap and still look decent. Unfortunately, there was nothing on the market. Buck also had some concerns with the quality of tile we bought. At the time we had the bathroom partially demoed and he suggested that we either put everything back to the way we had it or rip up the wood floor and tile it. We were stuck on a particular look for the room so we decided to tile the floor. Buck suggested that we return the wall tile that we purchased from a local retailer and go to his supplier and try to find something similar but of better quality. We went to his supplier that day and picked out a ceramic wall tile, base, and cap that was identical to what we originally had. We were in love with a floor tile from another retailer. Buck knew the manager at that store and called her to make sure the tile was of good quality. After everything was picked out we were emailed an estimate that was right in the middle of the other two. We could have went with the cheaper company but after spending some time around Buck you could tell he was very passionate about his work and we knew we had found our guy. The cost for the subway tile, floor tile, and materials was $300 cheaper than what we paid for just the wall tiles from our local retailer. I believe he gave it to us at his cost. We scheduled the work for January 24th thru the 26th. The tillers showed up early every morning and worked late into the evening. They put down drop clothes to protect our floors and were very neat. The crew was very professional and answered every question we asked. They even took the time to explain what they were doing every step of the way. The biggest thing I was worried about was getting the plumbing for the new vanity to fit in the space that was provided. The techs moved the cold water line and were able to modify the vanity slightly to get everything to work perfectly. Buck would come by daily to check on his crew and make sure everything was going as planned. I threw some extra stuff in at the end that I wanted installed because I was nervous about drilling into the new tile and they were happy to do it for me at no additional cost. This was the best experience that I've had from an Angie's List contractor. The whole crew took pride in their work and it showed. Every detail was well thought out all the way down to the placement of the bowl ring. Buck contacted us everyday to address any concerns that we may have had. No matter when you call him he answers his phone, and to me that was very important. I could go on for hours talking about how smooth the whole experience was but you should just expierience it for yourself. Thanks guys, looks awesome!
Description of Work: Installed new subfloor, water proofing, marble mosaic floor tile, ceramic wall tile with base and cap, installed toilet, vanity with faucet, moved plumbing to fit vanity and cut to fit, installed mirror, towel bar, paper holder and door stop.

I am hard pressed to find sufficient words to fully describe the excellent experience that we had with Collins Tile and Stone. Starting from the initial meeting to discuss the potential project, every aspect of working with this company was a pleasure. There was zero pressure and instead Buck Collins spent considerable time discussing various options with us and ensuring that we were completely comfortable with the project before it started. The work was performed in an exceptional manner - the crew was extremely punctual, hard working and courteous. It is rare to find a truly professional company that has the skill and experience to deal seamlessly with the unexpected issues that arise during execution of a job. In the case of our project, we discovered that were actually several layers of flooring installed one on top of the other and there was also considerable water damage to the area under the sink These problems were immediately addressed and corrected, yet no time was lost in completing the project. We now have a kitchen and entrance way floor that besides being aesthetically appealing is also completely level and structurally sound. But that is not the end of the story, while I was away on travel and the kitchen project was being concluded, a heavy rain and wind storm lifted shingles and water was entering the living room from the ceiling. The Collins crew took immediate action to contain the water and Buck Collins then coordinated the repair of the roof and the dry wall in the living room ceiling. Had the work crew not been as attentive and responsive as they were, I would have been facing a major repair issue. Instead I returned home to find a completely repaired living room dry wall ceiling and roof. In conclusion, I would immediately select Collins Tile and Stone for any further remodeling work to be done in my home. They truly set the bar for outstanding performance and workmanship at a very reasonable price. They represent the highest standards of American workmanship and ethics. You meet as strangers and leave as friends.
Description of Work: Ceramic tiling was installed in the kitchen and main entry way of the house, including under cabinets and inside pantry flooring. As part of this process, significant defects in existing sub-flooring were corrected; as well as the correction of a plumbing problem and repair of resultant water damage under the kitchen sink The work performed included removal and re-installation of existing cabinets, as well as pantry doors, and replacement of corner molding around the cabinets plus new wood transition thresholds to carpeted areas. Additionally, emergency actions were taken to repair water damage to the living room ceiling which consisted of replacing several sections of dry wall and replacement of insulation, as well as coordinating repair of the roof.

From the very get-go, Collins Tile and Stone stood out as the preferred provider for the services I needed regarding the renovation of our downstairs bathroom. I called three providers, all selected from Angie's List as Grade A companies. Of those three, one company never returned my call and another company refused to come to my home to provide an estimate and even refused to provide me with a written summary of the estimate that we had discussed on the telephone because they "were very busy people and didn't have time for such things". On the other hand, Dana and Buck Collins were immediately responsive to my initial inquiry, worked with me to set up an appointment, and Buck came to my home and spent about 2 hours discussing the desired job and what it would entail. He suggested that I go to the various showrooms to pick out my tile and bathroom fixtures. He even suggested persons at the showrooms to whom I should speak who could help me out with tile selections, etc. When I did, he was able to promptly follow up with a very detailed, reasonably priced estimate that included a point by point description of the work to be done; this estimate also included the materials costs, so that I knew -- from the beginning -- exactly what I would be paying for and exactly what the process would be. I accepted their estimate and we scheduled the work to start. Buck came out with two of this guys, Ben and Charlie, to start the job. Ben and Charlie were wonderful: they were extremely personable, they arrived each day when they said they would, were very thorough in the work they did, and took great care to keep the reconstruction debris under control, which was difficult given that a wall rebuild was part of the job. When they found mold in the wall, we had to stop the renovation work long enough for me to locate and contract a mold remediation company to come and address the mold situation. That took much longer than expected but, throughout it all, Buck kept in touch with me so that he could do his best to work their job schedule in a way that would allow my bathroom renovation to resume as promptly as possible. When we were able to resume work, Ben and Charlie came back and finished the job. Buck made excellent suggestions for slight tweaks in the tile design and layout, which I gladly accepted. He even recommended a painting company that was able to come in and paint the bathroom (and re-paint the other walls in the house that ended up needing to be rebuilt); that company did a great job for an excellent price. Although I still need a mirror in that room, the bathroom now looks absolutely gorgeous and is exactly how I envisioned the finished product to look. The tile work on the shower walls and floor are perfect, and the inset that he added really looks beautiful and adds character to an otherwise very simple design. I am planning on redoing my living room floor, the upstairs bathroom, and redesigning the kitchen in the near future and there is no question in my mind that I will be calling Collins Tile and Stone for those jobs. They are one of the best companies with whom I've had the pleasure to work in my 10+ years of home ownership.
Description of Work: Remodeling guest bathroom, which included re-tiling floor, installation of new bathtub and shower fixtures, building an inset in rear shower wall, retiling shower area.

Outstanding! Collins Tile & Stone did a terrific job, and the experience overall was ideal. I can't think of a thing to complain about. The master bathroom was remodeled completely about six years ago by a large hardware retailer, but it was done very poorly, and the shower began to leak, soaking the ceiling of the entry way below. I contacted several promising contractors recommended here. One was too slow to respond, one couldn't get to me for an estimate for several weeks, and the others were so vague in their assessment of my shower problem and their proposed solution that I didn't feel confident hiring them for this job. I heard quite a bit about the short-cuts they would take to save me money, and they provided some ballpark estimates of what the job would cost. They might have been appropriate choices if I was just interested in a short-term solution to prep the house for resale. In contrast, Buck Collins called me within an hour of my on-line request for an estimate, and we arranged for a visit within a few days at a time that was convenient for me. He listened carefully to what I wanted to do, made several detailed observations of the current shower problem, laid out a detailed plan of action, and asked me what I thought about some options he had in mind. He gave me some websites to research so that I could see for myself that the materials he was recommending for my project were top-notch, and he referred me to some of his trusted suppliers to shop for tile and plumbing hardware. Buck did not talk about short-cuts. Instead, he talked about all the little extra things his guys ( his employees, not subcontractors or day laborers!) would do to ensure I would never have to worry about this shower again. He clearly had mastered the technical details concerning shower pans, drains, and tile. The suppliers Buck recommended were very accommodating and knowledgeable, and they helped me design a new shower that would blend in with the existing bathroom. I submitted the design to Buck so that he could develop an estimate. After a few back and forth e-mails with questions and suggestions, Buck provided an estimate that was higher than the casual figures other bidders had hinted at (teased me with?). But his estimate was fully supported with technical detail, and I was confident his team was the highest qualified that I could find. Throughout this process, Buck was responding to my e-mails within a few hours usually, but often within minutes. There was never a problem communicating with Buck. I accepted Buck's proposal, and we discussed scheduling the job. Buck said it would be a few weeks before he could begin, that the job would take 5-7 days to complete, and that once he started the job, his guys would be on it full-time until completion. The job actually took 6 days to complete. In the end, his estimates for both time and cost were accurate. I only incurred an extra $350 charge for the installation of a new water shut-off valve and some other plumbing that wasn't anticipated. The results are better than I expected. The shower is rock solid, and the tile work was beautifully executed with careful attention to detail. I found one minor flaw, and Buck had it fixed the next day. I have no doubt that this shower will never again be a problem for us. Buck Collins is passionate about his business, he conducts his business with honor and integrity, and he knows precisely what he's doing. I expect he'll be remodeling my kitchen sometime soon.
Description of Work: Completely remodeled the shower in the master bathroom.

I called Collins Tile and Stone in mid-September 2011 to schedule an estimate, and Buck Collins (the president of the company) came to my house the following week. He was very pleasant and spent time both looking and talking to me about the floor and shower-wall tile that had been installed by the previous contractor. He immediately realized that the floor tile was not flat; it gradually slanted upward forming a slight ramp from the bathroom door threshold to the bathtub. He agreed that the tile needed to be removed, and that the floor needed to be redone. He also agreed that the grout was splotchy--the color was light in some places and dark in others. The previous contractor had grouted the floor three times, and the color was still uneven. I was not happy with the installation of the shower-wall tile either. After looking at it, Buck agreed that there were some cosmetic flaws, but he indicated that it was structurally sound. I appreciated the fact that he was not trying to generate work for his company and was being totally honest with me. I requested that he provide me with an estimate for each job, and he emailed me a detailed proposal the next day. We only had one other estimate, and Buck offered us a much better price. We agreed to have Buck redo both the floor and shower walls. Due to our busy schedule, coupled with the fact that it took us several weeks to pick out new tile and listello (I did not like the tile I had originally chosen), we asked Buck if he could start the job on December 5, 2011. He agreed to that date, and he and his crew showed up on time and immediately started to work on the bathroom. Buck made sure his crew knew what to do before leaving the site, and he checked in on them every day to review their work and progress. The crew was pleasant and very professional, using drop cloths and cleaning up every day. They worked very hard and did not waste any time. They finished most of the project in four days, and they did an excellent job. During this four-day period, they could not complete the job because we realized at that time that our new toilet was defective. We told Buck that we would have to order a new toilet bowl, and he was very understanding. He had his foreman, Steve, install the toilet as soon as we received the new toilet bowl. We also requested that one of the new baseboards be replaced due to slight damage during reinstallation, and Steve did that too. We are delighted with the tile work that was done by Buck and his crew, and we would recommend Collins Tile and Stone to anyone who is looking for a good company that does high quality tile work.
Description of Work: We had our hall bathroom gutted and remodeled in August 2011. The company that did the work did a pretty good job, except for the tile. We hired Collins Tile and Stone to redo the floor tile and the shower-wall tile, and we are very glad we made that decision.

I am very pleased with the result. Because there was one installer with an assistant it took a little longer than I expected, 4 days. But because they stuck within their daily time frame and were punctual I could plan around those 4 days. The 2 workmen were polite and kept me updated on their daily progress and they were respectful of the areas they had to work in or pass through. The tiles look wonderful and I am very pleased with the accent design which gives it alot of punch. The accent design is laid very precisely and is very exact. The alignment is perfect for that area. The workman discussed the size of the accent design with me beforehand and showed me how the tiles would be placed within the frame and around it to make sure that I agreed. The interaction with Buck was very professional and straightforward which eliminated alot of the stress.
Description of Work: They tiled my 250 sq.ft finished basement with ceramic tile. I wanted it to be as flood or water proof as possible as I had water from a malfunctioning gutter pour into my basement window and wet my basement so that the carpet had to be replaced. Buck Collins and I focused on the goal of the elimination of water damage to the floors should I ever have another problem in the basement. Buck said he often uses premium epoxy grout which would protect my tiled floors in a similar or worse water damage situation so we went with that. I decided to include an accent design at the foot of the basement stairwell. Buck installed a tiled 4 x 12 picture frame with lovely mosaic tiles I selected. The designer at the tile shop suggested that 12 x 12 tiles go at a diagonal inside the mosaic frame. The rest of the basement was tiled using 18 x 18 on a straight pattern. Shoe molding was installed to cover the perimeter.

I don't think there is anything they could have done better; they did an excellent job. They were very professional every day; anything I asked about they took care of right away. I could not be happier with their service and will use them again in the future. We could not be more pleased with this company; the owner was wonderful to work with and I could not have picked a better company to work with.

Buck Collins and his crew are professional, courteous and respectful of their customer's time and home. He delivers a beautiful product with a satisfaction guarantee. I contacted Buck after reading about other customer experiences on Angie's List. I wanted a backsplash tiled in my small kitchen. He came over at the appointed time and took measurements, discussed my concept, provided his professional insight and sent me to some really great folks for assistance in picking out the right tile. Buck also provided me contact information for lighting services and other materials. Once the tile was selected and the layout idea complete, Buck provided the estimate which I found quite fair. Buck managed to work me into his schedule in order to finish the project in the limited time I had available. He was very accommodating. His crew arrived on time each day and always cleaned up the work site when they left. The crew leader on the first day took time with me to make sure the layout was what I wanted and explained the process to me answering all my questions. Buck contacted me several times during the installation to make sure everything was going well. He also came over after the project was finished to make sure I was satisfied with the work. There was never a doubt I was receiving quality workmanship that was backed 100% to my satisfaction. I am thrilled with the outcome and look forward to working with Buck Collins in the future.

The crew had to move all my furniture from room to room in order to have space to work. They covered all the furniture and hardwood staircases/landings to prevent damage. They even helped me catch my cats so I could lock them up while the wood took place. Thank you Buck and crew for adding greatly to my home's value. There were problems, but nothing that could not be overcome. Buck suggested the tile be installed on the diagonal and I am so glad I agreed. The hardest part was deciding on a tile at Mosaic Tile. Buck also suggested I use a dark grout to blend with the tile pattern and again he was right. The grout color belnds so well with the tile that I didn't realize it was there at first. His estimate was not the cheapest, but I am certain I got the best workmanship for my money. I will be calling Buck again when I have the money to redo my master bathroom.
Description of Work: I had about 700 square feet of tile replaced. The old tile was loose due to shoddy installation. Collins Tile removed all the old tile, installed plywood over the existing floor boards, and then layer quick set and Deetra ( not sure how its spelled).
