I was referred to Blue Moon Construction by a friend. I first contacted Blue Moon by phone in mid October for an estimate to build a custom bookshelf in my family room. The owner, John Ronay, contacted me and I emailed him rough measurements of the space. A few days later, John came to my house to see the space and take measurements. He brought a sample of the furniture grade wood to show me. During our meeting, I decided I wanted to add overhead lighting above the bookshelf. I received a design and proposal via email shortly thereafter. We went through a few iterations of the design before I was happy with the final version - white cabinets with cabinets on the bottom. Throughout the design process John was always easy to work with and responsive. The day before the bookshelf installation (early December), the electrician contractor arrived at the house to install the recessed lights. The next day the bookshelf was supposed to be installed, however, there was a glitch. An error had been made in the measurements so the bookshelf had to be rebuilt. (They were able to install the cabinets on the bottom.) A week later the bookshelf contractor returned to finish the install. A "B, Good" grade was given because the lack of attention to detail and the measurement error. There were several areas that needed to be touched up (nicks on the paint, screws were inserted crooked, paint/patch work to the drywall where the electrician made a small hole). I emailed Blue Moon with my punchlist and they returned promptly to touch up the areas.

They provided us with an estimate. We had some questions about the contract, and they never would return our calls. They did send us a contract, but they never called us back.

They did a great job. They did a very good job of matching the wooden floors. I loved everything that they did obviously. I don’t really have any complaints. They did a great job. They are very responsive to your needs. We will absolutely use their services again in the future.

I had an excellent experience working with Blue Moon Constructions flooring department. My husband and I wanted new carpet for our master bedroom that was cream in color and super stain resistant, which was proving hard to find. We discussed with Justin what we had in mind for our master bedroom and he was able to find the most stain resistant carpet that is made in the exact colors that we wanted. When we told Justin that we wanted to go through with installation, he was able to have the carpet on hand and installed within 1 week. His carpet crew was very friendly, respectful, and on time. They moved the furniture out of the way and put the room back to its original state. I have had the carpet installed for a couple months and the carpet still looks brand new, does not stain and still looks like it was installed yesterday. They did a great job and I plan to use Blue Moon for any other improvements to our home.

I don't care how busy a firm is, not answering a call for an estimate is so unprofessional that I am astonished this firm is still in business.

My wife and I wanted to have a 'real' looking bar installed in our basement rather than a bar that looks like a second kitchen like we kept seeing when we were researching companies and getting estimates. Then we ran across Blue Moon Construction here on Angie's List and were impressed with their grades, so we contacted Melissa at Blue Moon. The experience from start to finish was nothing less than superb. JK came by and talked with us to understand exactly what we wanted. He also shared ideas with us that added a great perspective and improved on our original concept. The pictures he shared with us from previous jobs helped us zero in on every detail. We promptly received an estimate and decided to go with Blue Moon. The entire crew was very professional throughout the project and the workmanship was superior. Each time we had a question about the project, Blue Moon was very responsive and did a great job keeping us updated along the way. There are many contractors that do good work, but it is rare to find one who also manages the jobs effectively....we found the rare exception with Blue Moon. As anyone who has ever had work done knows, things don't go completely smoothly from start to finish, but what we appreciated was the communication and the effort to overcome the challenges that came our way. An example was on the counter tops. We originally chose Corian for our counters, but the supplier was experiencing delays. Although the delay was not Blue Moon's fault, they actively tried to find ways to expedite the delivery, and when it was clear that the supplier was not going to come through, JK recommended we use granite and did not charge us extra. After seeing the finished product, we were so happy with the switch! The hardwood flooring that Blue Moon suggested was the perfect complement to the bar and the overall feel of the bar. The detailed woodwork on the bar itself is amazing and impresses our family and friends that have come over to enjoy the bar. The brick on the wall was another incredible addition that sets the bar apart from others. Blue Moon took care of every last detail on the bar, including the installation of the sink and fixtures, the microwave, beverage center and ice maker, the installation of the pendant lights, lights over the glass liquor shelves, mounting of the TV, hook-up of the entertainment centers, installation of speakers in the ceiling...I could go on and on. Although this was a large purchase, we feel strongly that we definitely got our money's worth and it ended being a great value for an amazing addition to our home. If you're in the market for any type of home project, I would definitely recommend calling Blue Moon!

They were the company who saved us in fixing up the problem caused by Infinity Tiles & Design Company. We know him personally and he is very responsive. He is a professional guy and he has got different people who do flooring and he is full construction general contractor. He is available to help us forever with plumbing, flooring, decks or fences.

Just bought a beautiful 5 year home that still had the builders paint in the entire 4000 sq ft. We're new to the area and did not have history with any contractors so asked around, but the other painters' estimates varied widely from 7K~9K for the upper 2 floors. Was lamenting about it at work and a coworker mentioned Blue Moon. Not only did the owner, JK, return my call personally, but we had an estimate within 48 hrs. The paint crew lead, Isaias, also helped me with colors and the details of thinking it all through. The crew was prompt and professional, patient and kind. I'm really happy with the way they handled this work! It just looks beautiful!! Blue Moon will be finishing our basement starting next week so I will be sure to post an update.

Blue Moon contracting was very attentive to what I wanted completed. There were 3 distinct things I wanted done and each job was sub-contracted. Each sub was courteous and professional. They all cleaned up after themselves. Workmanship was good and thorough. The flooring took a while to get completed entirely, but was completed to my satisfaction. The attic access was built well and the supplies used were high quality. The fixture with chandelier looks great and was wired for the possibility of a fan. All these jobs were done separately and Blue Moon was very good about scheduling all of them around my schedule. John was very professional and a pleasure to visit with. With more things to do in my new house, I will be contacting Blue Moon to take care of some of these.

I believe the price estimated is fair. Our interaction has been pretty good. When we ask them to make changes it doesn't seem difficult for them to do it, where it seemed like it would be from other companies we got estimates from. Blue Moon has not acted like anything has been a big hassle. They are very responsive to their customer's requests. They are almost done and so far the work looks good. Hopefully they will be done next week.

I contacted Blue Moon for an estimate on a deck and walkway. They emailed back right away. They apologized, saying that they are not coming out to my area right now, because they are so busy with jobs in the Ashburn area. I really appreciated their professional and prompt reply.

Blue Moon Construction is Top Notch!!! Five Stars We recently had Blue Moon Construction remodel our kitchen and we are thrilled with the finished product. It is always a difficult thing to hire a contractor to come into your home and perform work. Our family takes a lot of pride in our home and we wanted a contractor that did the same. From the first time we met with John from Blue Moon we felt extremely comfortable having them in our home. From the estimate to the final completed kitchen we could not be happier with the attention to detail for not only the items going in our kitchen but the amount of effort that the whole team put on satisfying us. They would always say that it is our home and they wanted us to be happy with everything when they were done and gone and that little attention to detail on a daily basis really paid off. Any questions we had during construction were answered quickly and thouroughly. John and Jeff were both easy to reach at all times on email or phone with their blackberry's. The whole process was just easy. Blue Moon came in at about the 70% mark in reguards to cost, but they provided far more in quality and attention to us than we could ever expect. Their "trade partners" as they called them were great as well. Eric from Reico was easy to work with and really helped with the cabinet design. Our marble is fantastic and the overall flow of the design makes our lives a lot easier with a busy kitchen of six. Thanks again to Blue Moon Construction for a quality job. P.S. We are having Blue Moon finish our basement next year after we save a little more $$. We will report on that later.

John was very helpful and it was obvious that he had a great deal of experience and knowledge. He came up with a lot of different ideas that we would not have thought of on our own. He came back a second time to answer questions. Their pricing was good compared with similar companies.

Overall it was a successful renovation. Positives were great work and relatively well priced, and very helpful. Negatives were the workers were rushed at the end of the deadline, which was our move in date and they actually had to finish some of the work a few days after. Great service after the fact too. Our dishwasher had issues and they came back out each time, even 2 years later to fix it.

Awesome. JK was great and really helped steer the process. He pointed out some things that I had never contemplated and am thrilled that we did. I actually got more space out of the basement that previously estimated because of his efficient use of space. We were able to add an egress window and now legal bedroom to our home. We love the basement and have made great use of the space as a result.

This is the third project we have used BMC for and they continue to amaze with the quality of work and ease in which they do it. BMC really takes the time in the planning and beginning of the projects to ensure that once the project starts it goes off without a hitch. In the past we have had contractors who just want to get the contract signed and then they really don't care about the customer. Not with Blue Moon, we are so pleased at the attention to detail and care we get with our projects. J.K. and his wife were heading out to dinner one night and just stopped by to make sure we were enjoying our patio. Thanks again to Blue Moon!!

Really simple process from Estimate to Complete. John did a great job on our bookcase and we are really enjoying it alot.

The job went great. We met with Blue Moon and J.K. helped us design a nice simple base cabinet and bookshelf unit for each side of our fireplace. The unit was to be constructed and paited white finish. All materials were deliived on time by J.K. to the house and installed the same day. We were ready for paint the next day when Blue Moon's painter showed up to add the finishing touches. We changed the layout after the estimate so the cost went up a tad, but that was as expected, we added some fancy trim. All the suggestions of the trim and layout worked out perfectly. This gives the unused space are great new look and function. Thanks Blue Moon, very smooth process and fantastic finished product. Love the fact we can communicate by Blackberry and email instantly.

The project went off without a hitch. Blue Moon is one of the most professional operations my husband and I have dealt with for our home improvement projects. I wish we had found them earlier in our renovation process. From our first consulatation to the professional estimate, followed by a quality product we love dealing the J.K. and his company. He seems to have so much experience and expertise for his age, which is a great thing, because not only is he knowledgeable but he is up to date with all the latest trends and technology. Plus their building practices really helped us do a few things other builders said they could not do. We did give them a B for price becasue they were not the cheapest estimate we got, but now we see why. It is hard to put a price on how smooth everything went and they have already callled two weeks later just to check in and see how we are enjoying our new outdoor space. Blue Moon Construction did a fantastic job from start to finish. First of all, they were able to match a competing price. Then they continually followed up with me. Once the job started, they were on top of everything and responded extremely well to a couple unknown problems with our home. This is not the first remodel we have done but it is by far the best result we've had.
