We have used Ashburn Air about 4 times over the past few years with mixed emotions. The first time we used them was for a big job. We needed a new furnance and outdoor a/c unit. They were by far the lowest cost provider. They were able to do the job promptly and did a quality job. We've also had them install a humidifier and perform annual maintenance. What has bothered us is that the owner, John, has been unethical and unprofessional at times. In one case he offered (unprompted by us) to back date his invoices so that we could take advantage of certain tax credits. He also seems to get perturbed by certain questions and loses his temperament easily. This review is being written after a quick a/c fix that we felt he price gauged us on. When questioned about it John immediately lost his cool. This unprofessionalism was unacceptable. PROS Service is always prompt. They almost always come out within 24 hours and can get big jobs done in an expedited time frame. - I think this is because they don't have a lot of business. They had told me that they laid off almost all their staff. Most of their work is done on the commercial side through Murphy's Low cost provider (at least until recently). Have always gotten things fixed/up and running the first time. Never up-sold (i.e. don't try to sell you stuff you don't need) CONS Unethical? Temperamental/unprofessional Gets the job done and then runs out the door (little discussion regarding the work performed or other observations)

He listened closely to what I told him of the problem. He checked the line by the AC showed me how to tell the line was frozen, checked line in furnace room. unthawed the lines, added freeon and told me how to avoid this problem in the future. by listening and explaining the actions taken I felt he was treating me as a human being with respect.
Description of Work: Diagnosed the problem then unfroze the pipeline added freeon. they were professional and very understanding. Also told me on how to avoid this problem in the future.

My HVAC wasn't cooling the house. I did some troubleshooting and (correctly) decided the blower motor had gone bad. It was the Friday evening leading into Labor Day weekend. Apparently the HVAC system is the original, about 20 years old. I called several places and all sounded equally authentic. I had to leave messages with some companies or talk to the answering service. John, the owner from Ashburn Air picked up the phone and talked to me about scheduling for the next day (Saturday of a three-day weekend.) The price estimate seemed fair, especially for a holiday. We had just moved in a year earlier. Two of the places I called were the HVAC company that the prior owners had used and the home owner's warranty company. Since both policies had just expired, it was less expensive to have Ashburn Air do the repair than to reinstate either of the prepaid plans. The prior owners' HVAC and quot;Service Policyand quot; was prohibitively expensive (equal to the whole-home HOW) and would have provided a minimal discount on the repair. John was friendly, interesting, natural, low pressure, and efficient. We chatted about different things for a while as he worked. After some time passed, it seemed better for me to leave him alone, which I did. Soon after, he called up, and quot;try it on AC now.and quot; It worked. In contrast to many of the other companies reviewed, he did not push a service contract even when I brought it up. When all was complete, he wrote up the ticket with no games and I payed, happily. It certainly is nice to have such a good experience with aging equipment in a new neighborhood. I plan to contact John again if I have HVAC sales or service needs.

I was very happy with him. I was pleased with him. He got here really quick and he replaced it when I was on vacation. I trusted him and left him in the house alone. I thought that the price was fair for what I got. The price was little bit high and I think I paid more because he did it quicker. The only thing that I didn't like is that I didn't want to put in one unit but he put it. He came out pretty fast and did a good job.

I've used them for three years and they are wonderful. They have come two or three times for emergencies and they are very responsive. They have usually been able to come within the hour. They also do my regular service. They are a local business and I like that. I have referred them to other people.
