Salvadors Painting Inc

I have used Santos on and off for the past 5 years. He consistently does very good work at a reasonable price. He has painted for my friends and I hired him to paint and repair the ceiling in my mother's condo. All in he has done a little over $12,000 of work for me. He gives accurate estimates, shows up on time, finishes on time, and the quality of his work is very, very good. Do not hesitate.

I called Santos to get an estimate for painting my front porch. He showed up on time and we walked around the house. I needed paint touch-ups on my back porch and the two balconies I have. He pointed out rotten boards and I asked him to add the woodwork to his estimate. So far, so good. I did ask him to send me his license number and insurance information and he bristled a bit, asking if I didn't trust him. I assured him I ask the same information from all the contractors I hired and he left promising to send me an estimate. On week passed with no news. I called him and he said he would send it over the weekend but that I could "use someone else if I so chose". I asked him whether he was interested in the job or not ( I completely understand that not all contractors are interested in all jobs) and he said "no". I was a bit taken aback since he could have told me this without letting me wait a whole week for an estimate that would never come, I said so and he.... hung up on me. Charming. I called back and he did not pick up. Now this is someone who had come recommended to me that I'm pretty I would have given him the job but I was flabbergasted by the rude behavior. I will obviously never call him again and his attitude left me wondering what the issue was. Was the job too small (maybe $3,000?)? Or did he not have a license and I spooked him?
