If you can help it don't have this done when you have a sick person in the house. I had to since my husband has alzheimers and we want to move into a retirement community. The painters were very patient and handled it nicely.

The first visit was scheduled within a day of my initial phone call. The estimate was reasonable and the representative was very professional and accommodating. Since we were/are renovating our kitchen and part of the living room, Potts Brothers agreed to paint the house in three phases. The scheduling took place promptly and a reasonable payment schedule was setup over the phone. Phase I (December 1): The crew showed up on time, moved and covered all the furniture, patched a few spots on the dry walls and painted the rooms and the trims. The job started around 11:00 am and was completed by 4 pm. I give the crew 10 out of 10 for the quality of the work completed that day. It was simply flawless! Phase II (December 13): The same crew showed up for work at 9:30am and completed the work by 1:00 pm. They patched all the holes and cracks and did an excellent job painting the living and dining room walls and trims. Again, I rate them 10 out of 10 for the completed work. Another excellent performance by the crew. Phase III (to be completed): The crew will be back to paint the rest of the house on Jan. 3rd. Based on my experience so far, I am very impressed with Potts Brothers and highly recommend them to friends and family for house painting.

It was excellent. They came with a huge crew and finished the work within a day. I would definitely use them again.

They were very punctual with the estimating, scheduling, and showing up to do the work. They sent quite a few painters, and one of the Potts brothers arrived with the crew to talk to me, explain the job to his foreman, and get the work started. When I arrived home that evening after work, the crew was still painting and in an obvious hurry to finish and leave. I immediately saw that the edge work between the ceiling and walls and some of the woodwork and walls was sloppy. I had to show them several places where they had dripped paint on my new flooring and kitchen cabinets. I could have done a better job with the edging. They had not done the work on the front porch and said they would return the next day to do it. But they didn't return the next day. To get the work on the front porch done, I had to call and request that they finish. They slopped paint on the sidewalk and didn't clean it up, so I had to. Looking back, I wish I had complained about the sloppy edging work and had them return to fix it. They came highly recommended, but I would not use them again.

The guy who gave me the quote was quick and helpful. They setup the painting for a day I would be at work so was unavailable to see their performance. Upon returning to my house after they performed the work, I noticed they left some of the old paint scrapings on the ground but only a few. They left the excess paint for me. The work looked great and no paint spills on or around the house. 1 year later - I have noticed some significant peeling of the paint around my door trim. Unfortunately this is after their warranty period so I will have to get it repainted again.

Outstanding experience from beginning to end! My 50-year-old wood-frame house in an upscale neighborhood in Falls Church City was in need of a complete exterior paint job. Al Potts, the estimator, showed up promptly at the appointed time, was courteous and thorough in his evaluation of the situation, and not at all high pressure in his approach. A fair and detailed proposal arrived both by mail and by e-mail within 3 days, including a modest deposit request up front. We took a chance on the company, outlining in advance all our concerns and special requests, including careful surface preparation before painting. When Nolan showed up with the painting crew on the day of service, we reviewed all our expectations and he assured us "no problem" with all of it. The crew did a terrific job preparing the old blistered and peeling wood surface, taking their time to do a real professional job. When they came back to do the painting a few days later (due to rain), we reviewed together again all the expectations, including special care with plastered porch ceiling and back stairwell. We pointed out a couple of spots that needed additional prep, and even asked for some minor adjustments to the original painting plan, and it was all handled calmly and positively. The painting(single coat of Duration) was completed in one day. Clean up was thorough. Very few traces of scraped chips or dripped paint. Overall, the best experience I've had with a housepainting company in this area, and I've used several over the years.

Potts Brothers were able to schedule me within two weeks of my signing the contract. The painters were careful and thorough in patching, sanding, and painting all the wood trim and siding on the house. The job took two full days to complete. They cleaned up well when they were done, too. I would recommend them to anyone.

In my opinion the Potts Brothers company managers were extremely easy to work with and very professional in their approach to the work and its completion. They took a dated house and turned it into a gem. Their bill for the amount of work they did was reasonable and the work was stellar. This is a family owned business and I worked with several of the family members as we went through the project. They were all very personable and professional. The painters, carpenters, electricians, and plumbers who worked on the project are the finest in the business. I would highly recommend this company for any remodeling and painting work. They will be the only remodeling/painting company I will use for my real estate.

WE used Potts brothers painting for both our interior painting and exterior work. They completely repainted the interior of a 3 floor townhome and the quality was extraordinary. So when we decided to paint the outside, they were our first choice. And did a great job again. We would definitely use them again.

Called for an estimate for one side of house. They gave us the quote we requested for both the one side and the whole house. Both estimate reasonable but the rest of the house was fine so we just did the one side. Came out in less than a week and did the job quickly and professionally. Very courteous crew.

Mr. Potts came to visit and give an estimate. Showed up on time. Work was done when promised. Price competitive w/ other estimates received. However, the care Mr. Potts took in looking over the job, explaining to me what would happen, etc. gave them the edge over other bids.

Extremely well done. Very professional from the estimate through completion of the job. Everything was done very thoroughly without any required touch ups. The team also cleaned up well and left no trace behind.

The five workers spent about 8 hours painting and replacing wood. After it was complete, I walked around the house and spotted many places where the paint was bubbled, applied unevenly, missing, or in error (e.g. painted brick, etc.). I pointed these out to 'Herma' and spent about an hour redoing a couple of the really sloppy ones as well as removing paint splashes in some places. After he left, I spoke to Jesse and told him that I was not satisfied with the job and he returned with a couple of painters to work on the above named issues. After showing Jesse the areas where the work was substandard, he claimed that anything that was wrong with the house prior to the work would not be repaired and that the house was over 20 years old and I should be happy with the way it looks! When I pointed out that there were nails that were sticking out, rather than replacing them, or even hammering them in, he told me that he couldn?t hammer them in because they might be too long and would stick out on the other side!! There were numerous bubbles in the paint that he claimed were due to these nails. Some were and some were not, in either case, it looks like crap. Lastly, on the wood that they did replace, they sunk the nails so low that you can see the nail holes. He informed me that this was the way it was supposed to be done. All in all I was unsatisfied with the work performed. Jesse came across as arrogant and condescending and at times even a little angry. After paying the bill he tried to patch things up by telling me that I could call if I had any problems. To me, it came across as self serving. He had just finished telling me that he wouldn?t address the problems that I had pointed out.

I was out of town when most of the work was performed. Upon my return, I had some issues with the work and Jessie Potts quickly set up a time for us to go over my issues. He showed up and once I showed him the areas I had problems with, he agreed to have his people come over and fix all that I listed. What a true professional that backed up what he put in the contract! I wish all companies would follow his example.

Alvin Potts came out to provide the estimate. He was prompt, courteous and very thorough. He asked questions to ensure he understood what we wanted to have painted and made suggestions as well. He said we'd receive their estimate the next day (we did) and also told me it would take about a week before they'd be able to begin our job if we selected them. I was satisfied with the estimate, but we'd received another estimate with a better price and an earlier start date. Although we didn't use Potts Brothers for this job, I would consider them for other work in the future.

They never called me back, very unprofessional.

They were very helpful and knowledgeable. Their price seems a bit high.

Although it was expected to take 2 days, they completed the job in just one day! There was a crew of 5 and they set up drop cloths on all the floors and plastic sheeting over the furniture, kitchen cabinets, counters, and stair railing. They prepped all the walls by patching noticeable dings or nail pops and nail holes (first they asked if we wanted the nail holes filled) and then sanded the walls. They also primed any (water) stains. Then they put two coats of paint on most walls and the ceilings, and 3 coats on one accent wall. They started at 10:00am and left around 7:30pm. Everything was cleaned up at the end of the day. No problems. They did a great job in an incredibly short time.

Everything went very well. They were a little big pricey but they did a beautiful job. They were punctual and they had a lot of employees show up at the designated time and they also cleaned up their mess really well.

Very professional walk around of the house and thorough explanation of all of the services they offered. And a professional presentation of their estimate. We chose a lower bid but would have no reason not to recommend this firm.

The experience was very positive overall. I contacted Potts Brothers by phone -- I had to try a few times because there is only one person handling the phone and sometimes you have to leave a message. Once I made contact they were very flexible in making an appointment to come out to the house to do an estimate at a time that was convenient for me. The estimator arrived exactly at the appointed time, and an advance call was given to let me know he was on his way. The estimate did not take much time, and I appreciated that I was not 'sold' services I did not need (e.g., they recommended not painting the factory painted shutters, because this would just mean I would have to keep painting them in the future). Since I was going away on work travel the day after the estimator was at my house I asked Potts to send me their estimate by email. I didn't receive it within the time frame they promised, but once I emailed them a reminder, they sent it right away (they had mailed it to me in hardcopy of course). The estimate I got from Potts was the lowest price I received among the various estimates I got, plus they offered a 10% Angie's List discount. Once I accepted their offer, I arranged a date for them to come out and do the work within a few weeks. They arrived very promptly on the scheduled day, with a team consisting of 3 men plus one of the Potts Brothers (who went out to purchase the paint while the prep was going on and launched the team's work, but who later left). The team worked very diligently from about 9 am to after 6 pm, and did a beautiful job. The painting was done very well, and they were very careful not to make a mess. Also, all the installation of the various fixtures and hardware I had provided was completed without a hitch -- the place looks great. I was home the entire time the team was working and they did their work efficiently, effectively, and without bothering me in the least. I would highly recommend Potts Bros. to others -- a very professional outfit!

I contacted them through their website, asking for an estimate. I never heard back from them at all, almost three weeks later. I will add as a caveat that everyone I've called has been absolutely slammed, since it's early summer, but of the seven providers I called, they were the only ones to not respond at all. It is also possible that their website is faulty and they never received my request, but then that would also be an issue. Yes, I could have called them directly, but if they have an option on their site to initiate contact that should be enough.

The Pott's team is extremely professional and very easy to work with. They were quick to return house calls and worked with my work scehdule to visit for the estimate. They started the job within 1 week of the estimate and finished early. They worked with us to use the type of paint (low VOC) that we wanted. The qaulity of the as an B+. The only reason I did not give them an A was because of the cleanup. My whole house was covered in silt - floors walls, countertops, furniture, beds, in EVERY room of the house even though only 1/2 of my house was painted. They also dripped a few drops of paint on an expensive oriental rug and on a curtains. I had to hire a cleaning team to come clean afterwards. I would use them again but would make sure to ask them to use clean tarps to cover the house and ask them to clean up or give me a discount to hire a cleaning team to clean up after them.

The house is a two story brick colonial. The trim and shutters were badly in need of paint & some repairs. Their estimator came exactly on time. The workers came on time & only took a few days. All thee painting required ladders to reach the second story and above. They had to do some minor repair on the trim and had to replace a few shutters. They were neat and careful not to splatter paint below. The color we had chosen for the front door trim turned out to look awful (too white); they were very pleasant about repainting it so it looked better.
