At the last minute. I decided that caulking was required. The crew chief agreed, did the caulking and covered with two coats of paint at no extra charge. Job was completed professionally at a slightly lower price than expected (ala Angie's discount). We have a number of paint jobs anticipated - will give them first consideration.

The estimate was done promptly and professionally. The carpenters did a pretty good job changing French doors on a closet to a slider. The painters were not very good. They did no prep work at all, even though there were many things I pointed out to the estimator, such as the fact that the room had obviously been wallpapered at one point and needs a good sanding. The estimator assured me it would be sanded smooth and that all holes would be filled. Not only did that not happen, some of the trim was poorly done. I tried to point things out to the crew, but they did not seem to care. The manager then showed up at the end of the day for the check. When I complained, he reduced the payment by 1/3, but he never offered to do the work correctly.

I'm really let down by this company with respect to customer service. I thought this company was going to be great as rated by Angie’s List, but they proved to be difficult. Mr. Potts seemed to be a great guy the first time I met him for an estimate. After the initial visit, I requested a revised estimate for twice the labor but with materials I would supply, and the company took offense to this request. The reason I offered to supply material was due to the fact that we used custom paint on other areas in the house and that the width of the boards that needed replacing around the window were non-standard sizes. (They needed to be ripped width-wise on a table saw – a tool that I did not expect a painting company to have). I received a phone call from the receptionist indicating that Mr. Potts “was doing me a favor” with the original job estimate as he usually did not perform jobs for less than $600. She also said that I should look elsewhere for service because the job “wasn’t worth it” to them. The cost for service should have been the same or higher (original estimate was $525). So it seems like this company has a problem responding to requests from the customer relating to details for the services performed. Beware, as this attitude is not a good sign.

The crew showed up as scheduled. They went right to work. they covered my plants and side walks with a drop cloth to prevent drips. They came back the next day to finish the job. Over all very professional and quick I couldn't be happier with the job. This is the second time I've used Potts Brothers and was happy each time. I also used the 10% off coupon.

They showed up when they said they would, The estimate was accurate. They were very professional and cleaned up after themselves. They were responsive to any issues that came up during the four day project. They did very good work, my deck looks great now, as does the whole exterior of the townhouse. My only complaint is that an area of the chimney was missed for caulking and painting. When I pointed it out they did fix it right then. But had I not pointed it before they left, they would have had to come back another day, because they had already put the ladders away. I'm sure they would have finished the chimney whether is was then or in the future, but I certainly preferred having it done then, instead of dragging the project out further. I would still use them again and would recommend them to others. But with any project, it seems you have to keep an eye on the progress and verify that everything is done! UPDATE A few months later had a water leak in house. While insurance man and roofers examined roof, discovered that very bad wood on the side of the chimney that faces into house was only painted over, not replaced. Also, that the flashing was missing in that area also. Was not told this by Pott's brothers staff. My insurance agent took photos that showed the bad wood, and gap left from missing flashing. I contacted Pott's brothers and they did come do repairs and replace bad wood, at no additional charge. I am very disappointed that they did not do this work correctly to begin with, and never would have known if my insurance agent had not been up on roof taking pictures.

The Brothers were extremely professional and were genuinely interested to make sure we received excellent service. It was great t work with the Potts family. Each sibling that I met was extremely helpful and was focused on quality. We had a small window of time to paint the entire house due to our settlement vs. move in date. Potts was able to meet our deadline and worked extra hard to make us happy. The crew was very hard working and were very responsive. The entire company made me feel very important and that my happiness was of the utmost importance to them. As I was 9 months pregnant at the time, this quality service was extra appreciated!

Great experience. Alvin came out and provided an estimate for the work requested. Due to their busy schedule, we originally scheduled our work for 5/26 (first available date). They knew we needed the work done as soon as possible, so when an earlier date became available they called and moved our job up. Between the time of the estimate and the day of work, I had identified some additional items which they were able to add to the work order. The team arrived on time and were very professional. Bob introduced me to the team and went over the work order. The foreman spoke English which I appreciated since a had a couple of questions during the day. The work was done well and they left our place in good order. A good experience and would recommend them.

We spent over $6000 for the job. They did a really good job for the most part, but the brothers didn’t stay to watch the painters and we weren’t at home. They painted one window and left the other one unpainted on the outside. They didn’t take the initiative to come in even though they had access to the house since the house was empty. They could have come in and taken the screen out, but they left it. So, we had to call them back and they came back and did it. There were tons of holes inside that needed to be patched because we are selling the house. So, they patched everything and they did a good job on the inside. They came right back when I called them back. Their punctuality was good. We would use their services again, but we would keep a better eye on them. In fact, I now want to use their services to paint our house because the house that they painted is the one that I inherited from my mother. We needed to be there to watch them and one of the brothers needed to be there to supervise the job. So, we now know what to look for.

Everything was true to the estimate until we proposed some wood work. They did those repairs for me and they did not do anything without asking me. So, I did not suddenly get a bill for some work that I did not expect. The original bill was exactly what they had told me. They did a beautiful job and cleaned up after themselves. They were here on the day when they said they would be. The whole job took about two weeks. They did not leave stuff all over the yard. They were polite and the workers were easy to work with. The manager was very helpful. They sat down with me every time there was an issue and let me make the decision. I sat down 60 days later and tried to make a list of things that I thought should be followed up on, and they came and followed right up on them. I have a wraparound front porch and almost half of the columns had rotted and all of them had to be replaced. The previous owner had put in custom columns and they tried everywhere to find them but couldn't. So we had to buy stock columns. The stock columns were fine and significantly reduced the repair cost since the custom columns would have been three times costlier. The rot was at the bottom and they told me that they could just paint over them, but they left the option to me. I decided to replace the columns and everything looks beautiful now. I have not seen any problems with peeling or cracking. They used very high quality paint. They went over the paint and quality options and their pros and cons with me. They checked with me twice in the decision making all the way through. It is a family-owned business and I always spoke directly to the owners of the company. I always got one of the Potts brothers whenever I called. It was a very positive experience. Everybody was watching them at work and a couple of my neighbors ended up using them. They too had a similar experience as far as I know. I got their name from Angies List.

Potts Brothers were very quick to give us an estimate, and very responsive starting out. Took them awhile to actually send the crew and do the job: fix our front-door awning and repaint it - which was OK. Unfortunately, once then did come, they ended up painting the awning this yellowish/ivory color, and not white. It took two months and several reminders to get them to send the touch-up crew to paint it over. When the crew finally came, they put one coat of white over it, and were packing up, when I had to point it out to them that the tint was still distinctly yellowish and one coat wasn't enough. They agreed to stay and put another coat. Not the worst experience, as contractors go, but definitely not the best either.

Called Potts Brothers to get an estimate to paint my house. They came within a day and then when I made the decision to go with them, they started work within a week. All work was done professionally and quickly. There was no touch up that needed to be done and the plaster repairs were great - couldn't tell there had ever been a crack.

Al Potts easy to work with in preparing requirements and estimate. Bob Potts easy to work with; responsive and flexible on the job. The crew worked together well and were professional and courteous at all times. Suggestions and requests were well received and followed by Roberto (crew chief) and his crew. During effort, my wife and I did make some requirement changes and Bob and his crew were very accommodating and made good suggestions. Because the entire house was being painted, it was not possible to empty any room of all furniture and ten years of 'stuff'. We were constantly told not to worry about it, they will move things, cover things and deal with whatever comes up. They did and after finishing each room, they moved everything back to its place, very carefully and neatly. Very impressed. Generally, neatness counted; team was vigilant in this especially at start of job. A few times some things were not covered but once rectified, all went smoothly. Overall, we are very pleased with how the work was done and especially with the results. Potts Bros. was more expensive than other painters we interviewed but we went with them based on reviews in Angie's list, what we saw on their web site and based on our impressions during discussions with Al Potts.

I called three painting companies for estimates. One company took 6 weeks to get me an outrageous estimate, while another gave me an estimate so full of conditions that I didn't trust it. Potts Brothers got my job estimated within two days and did the pressure washing right after that. As soon as the weather allowed, one of the owners came out with a crew and personally reviewed the house prior to the job. There was more wood damage than we thought previously, but that was repaired in short order. They sent enough people in the painting crew to do a quick but thorough job and they even replaced the flood lights on the second story for no extra charge (no way I could have done that). The project was completed in a single day. I couldn't be more pleased with their punctuality, professionalism, attention to detail, and their excellent work.

They were very clean and very meticulous. I was very impressed with their work. I am going to use them for outside work if it ever gets warm enough.

We had several estimates done for interior painting of house. Potts Brothers estimate was the most reasonable. They were punctual and professional during the estimate and the painting job. Excellent job from start to finish! I used them again for our kitchen repainting in January. I highly recommend them! I would use them again in an instant!

We chose Potts Brothers after carefully reviewing Angie's List and Checkbook top performers and interviewing another contractor. The Potts crew of six painted our entire home interior in three days, working from 9:30 a.m. to as late as 8:00 p.m. one evening. They were always on time, worked hard throughout the day (I was home all day each day to observe), and took pride in their work. We used post its to identify the few spots that needed additional attention, which they immediately and satisfactorily repainted. Alvin, Jesse, and Bob Potts worked in supervisory capacities checking the work of the crew each morning and responding to our questions. After the crew finished, Potts offered to send someone over the following week to touch up or clean up any areas that still needed attention. Our home looks great. The management, paint crew, and receptionist were all very pleasant and professional to work with. We will certainly use them again for future painting needs.

I cannot recommend this company highly enough. From initial contact to completion, they were professional, pleasant, helpful and skilled. The team that did the work was very conscientious and dedicated. They were a joy to work with. They even installed my replacement light fixtures and switchplates, plus they repaired a spot on a bathroom wall where the previous owner's self-installation of a towel bar had messed up the wall. You can't even tell where it was!

They were awful. They knocked some of the price off because even they realized that the work was not good. They did a really lousy job. They got paint on the screens, they did not paint well enough on the top or the underneath of the windows and they got paint on the kitchen counter and there was paint all over the place. It was a really crummy job. It was a hard job but they were not up to it. They ruined my windows.

There wasn?t a lot of disruption, they are that good. I have no complaints. They are family owned and always answer the phone. They were here on time.

The were fast and efficient. They produce good quality of work.

Even though Potts Brothers LLC was a little more expensive than the other two companies that submitted bids, I felt that they were the most professional. They were the only company that tested for lead paint which we did not know we had. Our house was built in 1940, so there was a strong likelihood that lead paint was used. Al explained the procedure for dealing with the lead paint clearly. They were so easy to work with and responded immediately to any concerns that I had during the 3-day project. I liked the fact that this is a family-run business and that they have been in business for 25 years. I also liked the fact that they were the only company that did not give me an estimate on the spot. They obviously spent some time crunching the numbers based on what had to be accomplished. In the past, I have contracted companies in which communication broke down because of language limitations or strong accents. This never happened with Potts Brothers. I believe that you will enjoy working with this company, because they are responsive, are reasonable in their prices and produce a quality outcome. If you do decide to use them, don't forget to use their coupon in the Angie's List magazine.

Potts brothers responded promptly to my request for an estimate, meeting me a couple days after contacting them via email. The estimate came the next day. The crew showed up on time the first day and did the majority of the work that first day. The second day, I took the morning off of work to let the crew in, but they did not show up as had been discussed (thus the C-rating). Upon calling one of the Potts brothers, they apologized (apparently the foreman was confused somehow and messed up) and we set up a time for the next day. The work was completed the next day although I had to remind the foreman to do the door and the molding, which had been in the written estimate. Overall I was satisfied with the work and Potts brothers gave me a discount for the mess up the second day. They handled the mess up professionally and to my satisfaction and I would use them again.

In preparation for selling our home, we needed to get the entire interior of our three-story townhouse painted, to include all ceilings. We were working under a tight deadline, so we needed painters that could provide a timely estimate and start the work right away. We called Potts Brothers on a Monday, they came out the following Thursday morning to provide the estimate, and were able to begin the painting the following Wednesday. Potts Brothers originally stated that the job would take three to four days. They showed up on the first work day with a crew of seven and got right to work patching and re-taping many surfaces. By the end of the first day, they had painted the upper level as well as finished all the patch work. On second day, the same seven-man crew arrived and went right to work. Except for short lunch breaks, the crew worked non-stop. They were so efficient, they were able to finish the entire job in just two days. The paint job was excellent and the crew cleaned up thoroughly. They vacuumed the entire house to pick up the dust created by the patching and wiped up the tile and hardwood floors. We would definitely recommend Potts Brothers painting for their responsiveness and for their excellent work. We feel we paid a fair price for the amount of painting done and for the speed and quality of their work. Additionally, prospective buyers were unanimous in their praise of the way our home was painted.

The experience was great. The job was completed within a week of the initial estimate they gave me. The paint job looks great and they were very professional and finished in less than a day. I would recommend to anyone!
